User ImageWith her familiar gone, Blake's sight was limited to her eyes only. The thing goes away when she becomes unconscious, beginning its reset period. The young woman could've brought the creature back, but the three undead wolves were still following them, so the extra battle help wasn't necessary. Staying on her feet was difficult when they landed, shaking the Earth, a viscous green liquid seeped from their mouths, and Blake stood there like a deer in headlights. Rowan's voice jarred her thoughts, however, telling her and Tye to hide or else they'd be killed. "B-but...Will you be alright?" Shouldn't they be running? Sure, Gram, as far as she knew, had anti-dragon power, but five?! That amount and their sizes made the woman doubt how well her partner could handle himself. Despite whatever training he may have had partook in, could it have prepared him for something like this? Her nerves certainly didn't calm when the her Knight told her to run if anything happened. Why did the woman have the feeling that even if that were the case...the outlook of survival wasn't good. She looked over at their travelling companion for a moment before doing as she was told, ducking behind a tree, back to the bark.

Calm down... Calm down! Her heartbeat fluttered as she placed her hand on her chest, panting frantically. All Blake had to do was tilt her head someone to be able to see what was going on rather well. How can I help? She wondered. Surely he didn't expect to take them all on himself! If anything went wrong, however, it would be her fault, on either side of the situation, so Blake decided to listen to Rowan's instructions for now. Huh? The dragons are acting strange... and they were, seeming almost...wary of Rowan. Could it be because of Gram? The elf's eyes widened as the man before her nearly disappeared. One of the dragons moved to him, slashing down in his direction, but he took no damage. Hell, it didn't even seem to alter his direction! What was this? Was he...in the ethereal realm? The thought came to Blake midway through watching Rowan work, watching him do what he was meant to as a, as her Knight. Seeing such a scene took her back to a time where she had asked about his abilities. She wanted to see something, so he stuck his hand threw a wall and then asked what she'd think something like that could do to a man. That could even be what he was planning to do with the dragons in this situation. Blake watched so intently as the man became engulfed in flame, switching to use his sword with his equipped hand. Her eyes lit up in awe before the man moved again. When the first dragon's head was split open, blood gushing, Blake couldn't help but gasp and look away. This is their true strength! The combination of her own mana, his talents, and the properties of his armament. She didn't want to look anymore... what if something happened? Blake knew she had to keep an eye on the battle in case anything went wrong.

"Rowan...be careful, please," she begged in a whisper, mostly to herself. So, this was the fighting capability of her Knight. Blake prayed they'd be enough as she turned to continue watching the battle.

That was right, this was true strength, the strength he had gained by transcending death and achieving his dream. It was a bittersweet victory on his part, as if standing on the threshold of something great while looking back at all he had lost to get there. What he gave up was his humanity, and all he could see is what he was now, a weapon for the use of another. That weapon, however, was Blake's and Blake's alone. If he was a blade, then he would only cut those that stood before his Mage. Rowan, turned on a dime and dashed by a dragon, coming to a skidding halt on the other side of it. The creature, however, being so quick was able to shoot the acid breath that it contained at him, the liquid flying towards him. Rowan, however, merely held out his hand and sword and something unique happened. It was almost as if something was cracking, the sound that echoed throughout the forest as the breath was neutralized. Rowan, standing there with the blade blocking most of his body, simply stared at the beast with blood-lust in his eyes. "A weakling like you couldn't touch me if you wanted to." He stated, blurring forward in a burst of speed.

Rowan was removing his limits at this point to a much larger degree, making sure he was able to move faster than these dragons, hit harder than them, cut through them. His body blurred as he dashed around them from point to point until... one of their tails flew in the air, cleaved completely off and landed near where Blake was. The cut was clean, having sliced right through with no problem. "Let's go!!!!" Rowan shouted with so much anger it seemed like the trees might shake. He had leaped into the air and plummeted towards one of his targets. The creature, quick as it was, turned around and spat its acid at him. Rowan, however, merely cut through it with a purple light enveloping his sword, and at this mana flooded his and Blake's body simultaneously, a dragon's unique signature of mana. Rowan continued his path, phasing through the creature's neck. However, when he had exited and his sword was midway through its neck, he became solid again, the blade replacing what was currently existing in the creatures neck. At the same time, he duplicated Balmung on the other side of the dragon's neck and cleaved its head off with little difficulty. Such powerful creatures were falling to his blade.

Rowan landed and slid across the ground, moving with the flow towards yet another dragon. This one slashed at him quickly, trying to keep him away from itself. His speed, however, had gotten to an unreasonable point and he seemed to slither around its attack and strike in a very simple fashion. The blade, however, duplicated with each strike as he moved past the beast, gouging the creature's flesh and burning it with Balmung's anti-dragon properties. The other two dragon's had decided that this was a futile fight for them, seeing as how Rowan could become ethereal, and began to try and take off. Rowan, however, merely launched into the air from a tree once more, moving through the air. In one quick movement, he sliced off the wings of one of the dragons and jumped off of it and towards the other one. Flying through the air, he held out his hand and caught a hold of the dragon's arm, spinning around it and eventually planting himself firmly on top of the beast. With one simply flourish of his blade, the man cleaved its wings off and looked towards the ground. He propelled himself towards the ground from the other dragon, hitting the ground feet first and skidding along it, destroying it as he came to a halt. The two dragons fell, one of them landing on its front and taking some heavy damage. The other, however, landed right on its head and snapped its neck, dying instantly. Rowan merely stood there for a few seconds, his face tilted slightly towards Blake with a look of blood-lust in his eyes.

The man was no longer defending them, but slaying these dragons after they had attacked them. It was obvious at this point that their encounter did not pose a threat, and that he was simply slaughtering these creatures, keeping them from running away. Rowan, turning his attention back towards the beasts, blurred away as he continued his assault.

TYE

The widely yawned as he followed his comrades quietly. He watched the Knight tear apart dragons. Psh. Dragons. He could kill dragons too, he had killed dragon’s many times. And with the sword he spun in his hand, given to him by his mage, he could kill more than 3 at a time, with one blow. But he knew this Knight wanted to just show off to him and his mage. Rowan, the Knight, didn’t impress him by any means. But being the Obedient Knight he was requested to be. He stayed back for every attack and let her Knight handle it. When this was all over, he wouldn’t have to see him, hopefully.

Stretching his arms he looked over at the mage. β€œWhat are we looking for exactly? When are we heading back. I’m sure it’s getting late.” He wondered as they continued to walk. He saw cute girls back in the city.

User ImageBlake looked on at the battle with shock and awe. At one point, she was horrified on getting his actual bad-side, the threat earlier from this morning coming back and making her shiver. Something worried her, though, not quite sure how this worked. If she was supplying him with mana to be able to do this, then would the amount of energy he was using cause her to become fatigued? He had only showed her such incredible strength once before, and she had felt tired after the event, but at the time, Blake had chalked it up to shock from being near-crushed. A crash shook the ground near the woman, landing to the right of the tree she was hiding behind. A shrill shriek escaped from her as she slammed her back against the trunk, staring at the dragon's tail Rowan had hacked off. Jump scares were really not her forte.

She couldn't help but glare back at Rowan.
Was that on purpose?! It was almost terrifying, how capable he was at murdering the creatures. This was her Knight, however, and the girl knew that she could trust him to take care of situations, of threats like this. Another line of acid was heading toward the man before he cut clean through it, his sword glowing in a sort of purple light, and a strange feeling resonated within Blake, a powerful sensation in her core, it was almost revitalizing. The feeling was such a surprise to her that she gasped deeply, grabbing at the swirling warmth in her torso. "Is this..? No way, this is the mana from that acid attack?!" A dragon's mana...

Rowan was working on is third as the last two decided it wasn't worth the effort. Blake stood up, elated, still behind the tree. The woman put her fist in the air, about to cheer, but he wasn't stopping. The young man shot into the air, taking down the two attempting to escape, and his mage's expression darkened. They had been leaving, why was he still fighting? She knew he wanted to cut loose, but this was a slaughter... was this his idea of fun? The woman couldn't help but be a little sorry for the creatures as she stepped back from her hiding spot. Her Nevermore could probably stop him long enough to discontinue the onslaught, but the consequences for something like that would bring Blake more trouble than she probably wanted. Stopping him would only make him take his anger out on her more than not, and she wouldn't know if the song would also work on the two surviving dragon. Rowan could end up getting hurt. That was when Tye spoke, moving forward with only a couple dragon left.

He just...made conversation. Like this was no big deal.
"We weren't searching for anything in particular. J-Just to blow off some steam. Though this may have satiated his boredom for now," she answered a little more wavered than not. "Did you wanna head back or something?" her voice was low, and she wanted to join him, but moving up before Rowan had finished killing these beasts was probably a bad idea. "Going this far... was a bit unnecessary..." she murmured to herself.

Tch! You arrogant fool! If they kill you then it's on you! Rowan shouted in his mind, furious with the man for ignoring what he had told both of them. Without a Mage, Tye was nothing but a hindrance to him, a weight that needed to be lifted every now and again and dragged around. His mere presence was nothing more than a nuisance to him. I'm not protecting you. That isn't my duty nor was I ever ordered to. He thought to himself, leaping into the air as he dodged some of the acid one of the dragons was spitting at him. He was at the endgame now, with only two left and one heavily injured, that being the one that just spat at him. As it crawled and picked itself up from the ground, Rowan darted forward towards the best, jumping as it slashed at him sluggishly. He landed on one of its arms and jumped as it attacked him again, landing on the other arm of the beast. Yes, he was dodging around its attacks by jumping from one limb to the other on the beast. It was hard to tell if he was just toying with it or if there was some natural flow to the madness that was going on during this fight.

He managed hop over the dragon's head and carve into it with the purple hued blade, copying it, and leaving no visible damage on the creature. Instead, the creature physically looked like it weakened once again, and this time Blake was assaulted with a flood of the creature's mana, something she would definitely notice. Her mage was capable of eating the mana of other beasts, other creatures. He was currently watching the other beast with his enhanced eyes, seeing its moves as he moved around its half-beaten brethren. It seemed furious, but terrified as well to him. Was it struggling between wanting to avenge its fallen family members and running away from him? Something told him that it wanted nothing more than to kill him... and an instinct from deep within him called out the same desire for him. He wanted to obliterate these dragons, and he only had two left before that desire was fulfilled. Could they stand up to him before then, be able to take him out? The answer to that was given when he simply blocked another round of acid breath from the uninjured dragon, its magic breath being neutralized by the blade and gauntlet.

Rowan then jumped from the back of the injured dragon and planted his feet at the top of a tree. Looking down at the beast, he plummeted by it and lobbed off its head, killing it instantly. Upon impact with the ground, he skidded forward and broke into a mad run towards the final dragon, one that barely had any injuries whatsoever, save for a few cuts from earlier. The creature began to frantically blast at him with its breath, each attack being dodged by simply moving left and right as the man began to blur away, some even moving through him like some ghost. Once he managed to get within a close enough proximity, he launched himself into the trees and began to dart around the beast, nothing but a blur that the creature could barely keep up with. He would be in one place and then the next, blurring as he moved from point to point. He landed on trees, its body, the ground, everything was simply a landing pad as he moved around the creatures. Eventually, however, he found himself in the air and spinning down towards the creatures head. The creature, unaware of where he had gone, was unexpectedly pierced through the head by Balmung, the blade easily cutting through its tough scales. After hanging on to its head for a few seconds, the man pulled the sword free and back-flipped away from the beast's falling body, landing on the ground as it fell, lifeless, to the ground.

For a few moments, Rowan simply stood there, watching what carnage had unfolded from his assault on these beasts. His muscles were aching slightly, having been exerted a fraction more than what he was capable of. Luckily, he had not done too much so he had merely torn a few of them in certain places. Blake, however, would probably notice this before too long, she was very perceptive in that regard. Speaking of the half-elf, Rowan soon turned around and began looking for his Mage, unaware of where she had gone into hiding at. "Where are you, pipsqueak? It's alright to come out, they're dead. They won't be bothering anyone ever again." He shouted out to the woman, his voice full of the usual sass and almost unchanging emotion that Rowan was best known for. The blood-lust was gone from his eyes for some odd reason, and he was acting as if everything he had done up to this point was completely normal for him. Something was definitely off with the situation, the scenario. Yet, was there any real way to get any information about it from him? Rowan chose to ignore the soldier, Tye, due to his insubordination. The man could have gotten himself killed. How did he even manage to get the council to find him acceptable at all with that being his attitude? It was a wonder to Rowan, and it made him question the authenticity of the letter that the other man had shown to Blake.

β€œThere there. It’s okay.” Tye patted his mage on the shoulder as he noticed she was terrified by Rowan’s ruthless behavior. β€œHe would have eaten us if The hadn’t killed them, though, it was terribly unnecessary to do it in the way Rowan just had. β€œI would have liked to have kept one. Maybe save a dragon for me, eh?” He requested as he liked the idea of taming one and making it his own. Thought he wasn’t so sure how he would even go about doing that.

Stroking his beard he watched Rowan destroy the last of the dragons with ease as he seemed the mage he was committed too.

User ImageThe hand on her shoulder made Blake jump a bit before she turned her head to see Tye Hart. She swallowed. Great, now he'd be upset with her for letting her hiding spot become compromised. "Huh? Oh yeah... I know. Although...I have a feeling that dragons, especially ones this old, aren't really tamable..." the girl felt in a daze as she watched her Knight continue his barrage on the creatures. That's when the sword lit up as it had before, in a purple light.

Wait, is he going to hit the dragon with that?!
Blake wondered as Rowan's sword was once again enveloped in a violet glow. The last time, it seemed to have somehow...transferred the mana from the acid attack to her from what she could tell. Expecting the same, the young woman braced herself for whatever was to greet her. It still surprised her, though, causing her to stagger backward some. "Ah...nope." There was no way she could prepare herself for the sheer amount that flooded into her, even though she attempted to ready for it. The energy was rejuvenating but at the same time strange. She had more mana and more powerful mana than she knew what to do with. The sensation was overwhelming, and Blake had the desperate urge to cast a spell to make proper use of this power. Her eyes widened when the dragon seemed to grow weary, further confirming her hypothesis of the situation. This energy...With this, I could cast my most powerful spell more than once today. Geez, maybe even three times. This is... really amazing! Curiosity momentarily distracted her from the gore-filled scene as she turned away, Blake attempting to determine exactly what she could do with such mana.

By the time the half-elf had turned back around, the last dragon had fell, Rowan standing before the gore-infested scene he had created. It was a little more than Blake could handle, but her mixed feelings of horror and amazement numbed her to the after-effects of the slaughter. The man seemed to have overexerted himself, something was off when he turned back toward her and their new companion. Despite Tye standing openly near the tree she had been behind, Blake still stepped away from the hiding spot when Rowan called out to her. The Knight was back to his old self, sassy but not overcome with a blood-lust that his mage could not quite comprehend. She went out of her way to keep her eyes on him, not looking at the fallen creatures. Normally, she would have lead with a defense to the term "pipsqueek."
"Yeah, I noticed. That was a bit...overkill, don't you think?" she asked him. "They were going to leave..." This was in reference to the dragons who had tried to escape. Surely, Rowan would have a response in regards to caring about the enemy, and she was prepared to face whatever verbal consequences would follow. Needless slaughter upset the girl, but there wasn't either anger or sadness in her voice. It was somewhat hollow.

Gram obviously had dragon-slaying properties, but Blake never knew that it was on such a level...To be fair, this is what she wanted, a Knight who'd protect her and be willing to and able to take on the challenges that she couldn't face alone. The thought brought her conflict. She was proud and glad of Rowan for being so strong. If she'd been out here alone, Blake certainly would've died. Was she wrong, then, for thinking he had gone too far?

Figuring that openly stating that he seemed to push himself too much would only tick him off, Blake just crossed her arms, on wrist on top of the other and closed her eyes, murmuring the same magic words that brought her Knight forth from the afterlife. A gold light enveloped her arms, beginning at her fingertips and travelling to her elbows. This would be the same for the places where Rowan was feeling any ache, magic repairing the damage. The sensation of this strange mana leaving her was similar to when it entered. Because of this, she exhaled and brought her arm across her stomach after and also attempted to assess how much she'd exactly used. It certainly wasn't a large portion.
"Are you alright?" Whenever she felt better, Blake would be ready to barrage the young man with questions about the details of things, but for now, she was pretty exhausted and was intent on heading home soon.

Rowan's body was starting to shake about as he stood in the carnage he had created. It was severely weakened by the even that had taken place and he found himself having difficulty keeping his body from having the jitters. This was due to the stress moving about had placed on his muscles, having torn a good few of them but nothing more than minor tears that would simply heal up and be replaced by muscle. Overall, it was a much better turn out then what he could expect in an encounter so far in the forest. Blake seemed to have come over to him during this time, stating that she noticed she was not in danger anymore and that she thought what he did was overkill. She further stated that the dragons were going to leave. "Yes, they were going to leave, but so would we. You think they would have been so kind if we were to flee from them? They're sentient, yet they would have undoubtedly tried to kill us whether or not we stood or fled. That is because we were their enemy, their prey. Giving someone who would kill you without any second thought that sort of kindness is just leaving yourself to be devoured. They were dangerous creatures, creatures that would undoubtedly kill any adventurer that wandered this far. I dealt with them."

Rowan's statement had a chilling ton to it, as he wobbled about to one of the dragons. He had begun carving out pieces of the creature, valuable pieces that he could sell to alchemists and the like. Removing scales with Balmung was also a simply task, almost as simple as a fish. "Besides, with this much material we could not only be rich but get a blacksmith or the like to make use some fine weaponry or armor. Our enemies will make our lives and or future adventures far easier now that they've been slain. Surely you could agree with that logic." Rowan stated, giving her another perspective of the kill or be killed ideology of the outside world. "They were dangerous and they were killers. I did what any Knight would do, what any soldier would." He stated as he worked on gathering materials from the creatures. There was no other way to describe his actions from his point of view. Just what was he supposed to say to her? That he was sorry for protecting her? Was he supposed to say that he was sorry for making sure these creatures were not around to slay other adventurers should they travel this far into the forest?

It was then that some golden light had enveloped him, running up his body and healing all of his muscles. The sensation was sort of strange as it repaired his body, his body's natural, organic regeneration that would take weeks, maybe months, to fully heal knitting itself back together. His muscles felt stronger as this happened too, having gained some additional muscle after his body was repaired by the magic. The more punishment he placed on it, the more he pushed his limits, the stronger he would get, as long as it was minimal. It was only something natural the body would undergo, not too different from doing exercises or training. After all, muscle was gained by ripping open pre-existing muscle and then letting it be repaired, which healed by making new muscle. "I'm fine. You could have left me the same and I would have been alright too. I could still walk." He stated to the woman, informing her that healing his muscle damage was not something that needed to be done. There was a bit of tension between him and her right now, and he could tell just from how quiet she was being.

"I understand you've been traumatized by death and destruction. It even took away one of your loved ones, apparently. But you have to see things from my perspective too." Rowan stated, cutting some more pieces off of the dragon before standing and turning towards her with a rather dark, grim look in his eyes. "I lived through that destruction. These scars aren't small, nor are they flesh wounds that simply happened before I died. You'll find a similar scar on my back from where I was cleaved through the chest. My face was slowly cut open. I was murdered slowly and viciously by an enemy. When I died, I realized one thing. This world has monsters." He stated, using the word "monsters" in a strange way that was obviously not referring to the generic way it was used by other people. "If I let my enemy go, they'll try to do the same thing again to someone else that I may or may not know. If my enemy escapes, then whoever dies because of that enemy is on my head from then on out. My hands are stained with the blood of whoever dies because of them from there on out. So what's the greater evil, Blake? To kill and be forsaken by those around you for ruthlessness, or to be merciful and inadvertently kill many more people in blissful ignorance?" He proposed to her, a question that had no true answer without sounding like cold or heartless. "That's why we're weapons, because that's the world us Knights live in. A world in which one death outweighs that of many. We are the sword that slays, so those deaths do not weight on our Mage's conscience. We take on this burden for them." He stated to her, staring her in the eyes as he spoke, holding materials from the dragon, in a bag, in his right hand.

User Image"Well, I had to do something with all this extra mana, this...dragon mana. It feels...weird." Blake put her hand to her chest, not making eye contact with her Knight. Of course, she didn't expect a "thank you" or anything of the sort, especially given the mood. It was a rather strong healing spell, though, so he should've been feeling no wear from the fight at all. Technically, Rowan hadn't taken any real damage, but she didn't want him experiencing unnecessary pain. The girl wasn't the kind to leave someone with sore muscles just out of spite.

He had a point, though... If they had booked it instead of him taking on the creatures, there's no doubt that they would've made chase. If Blake had been there alone, she'd probably been eaten. The thought made her grind her teeth a little as she looked away from the man. When the Knight mentioned "his perspective," the girl looked up at him, meeting his dark expression with a somewhat lost one. His logic was correct, but she wasn't exactly sure how to feel about the situation as a whole. As he described his death, though, her expression only darkened as she bit down on her bottom lip harder and harder as he continued. Rowan was right...he knew...he knew what he was talking about, but at the same time, the reality made her somewhat sad.
"That's all way too depressing. There's gotta be a brighter way about it." Blake attempted to look away but ended up meeting his gaze anyway. "Sorry. You wanna head home?" She couldn't help but think about the way he described his death. Had he been bluffing to make a point, or...did he really remember that? The scars told the tale, to be fair, why would he come up with something like that? It was too much effort for him. Blake raised her eyebrow. He used to work for the Council, he remembers his death, was there more to him than he was putting on?

If they started heading home, the girl would keep her best eye on the man while having the wolves follow them. It'd probably be a good idea not to push any subject, especially with the weird tension right now. She knew that being upset about it was uncalled for, but Rowan's actual power, his actual killing ability had just surprised her some. Blake would just need a moment to...process.

"Trying to be optimistic about it is naive and pointless, not to mention selfish. Just because you ignore something it does not mean the negatives don't exist. I understand that you're allowed to think that way, after all you're the Mage, the one who doesn't have to sully their name or hands. Us Knights, however, think far differently, and we know exactly what our pact is about. I'm protecting you, Blake. That entails everything positive and negative about the situation. It's your opinion and choice to see the bright side of things, but I choose to see the reality of it." He responded to her, informing her that there was no way that he could be optimistic about such a thing. After all, it was him that dirtied his hands, it was he that had to make all of the choices involving their enemies. Sure, she could fight enemies and slay them as well, but that was not what she was required to do. Rowan, however, was not only obligated but expected to be nothing more than a weapon for her. That was what Carmillion saw him as, and it was what Eldrin expected all of their Knights to aspire to be.

Rowan turned and began to walk in the direction the came from, heading towards their home city as Blake suggested. His answer was silent, but it was not full of anger, distrust, or anything of the sort. It was obvious that he did not find any of this to be a touchy subject at all, and was merely stating it all as if it were fact. The man, however, needed to know one thing, he had to understand one thing about his Mage. It was up to her whether she answered him or not, however. He let this simmer on his mind for hours as they traveled through the forest, thinking just how he should word what he was going to say, what he was going to ask her. The dragon materials swung at his side, tied to his belt, and his blade moved with his walking. Something was definitely on his mind during this time, and it would easily show on his face. It was not until the three of them were quite a ways away from the forest that he decided on what he should ask her. It was a question that needed to be asked, and something that had been weighing on him ever since she had revived him that day.

"Blake." His voice suddenly rang out as the crossed the plains toward Carmillion. There was a strength to it... and a hint of emotion that bordered sorrow. "Just what were you expecting when you brought me back to life?" The young man asked her a question, and then he turned to face her before elaborating just a little more for the young woman. "What did you want from me as a Knight? You always tell me to be positive, that I'm not a weapon or anything of the sort. You always tell me what I'm not, but you refuse to tell me what you want me to be." He stated to her, his voice remaining the same throughout with that slight hint of sorrow to it. "If I'm not some weapon for you to use to fight your enemies, to kill those that would hurt others, then what would you have me be? An errand boy? A servant? Or even just some flashy piece of jewelry to show off to other Mages?" He questioned her, trying to figure out the logic behind her statements. If he should not be something, then there was obviously something that he should be. "What did you want me to be that day? Not who, what?" He asked her as they passed through the gates into Carmillion.

Rowan had left the city without much of a second thought. That had been a few days ago, and since then he had done nothing but camping. After all, he had wanted to get his bearings a bit before he decided to start living in that dangerous forest. It was one thing to adventure there for a few hours with Blake, yet it was another to make it his home for the next week or so. As such, he needed to immerse himself in his former life as a soldier, camping and making tents. Keeping his tracks hidden and the fire low were also basic essentials. I guess it's about time I get ready and go. I've retaught myself the basic essentials at least. He thought to himself, packing up the rest of his supplies and slinging them over his shoulder. The thought of what Blake might be doing at this moment crossed his mind, yet he did not let it linger within him at all. She needed to stay out of his thoughts, out of his head. If she remained there then there was no moving forward from the point that they were at.

With a sigh, he turned towards his companion and narrowed his eyes quite a bit. He had refrained from speaking with Alistair at all for the past few days, and he did not want to break that streak right now. Even if they were supposed to be exploring together, he did not want to bother with the old man at all. Just having him around him was enough of a reminder that he had to eventually go back home, return to Blake. That line of thought merely brought the girl back to his mind, causing him to groan slightly in exasperation. "Hurry up. I'm not waiting on you." He merely stated, the first words to leave his mouth over the past few days. Such a rare event as showing concern for another person was cause to question if Rowan was feeling okay. A lot of things had happened over the past few days, however, and Rowan needed to develop more as a person to show this. Instead of being the one-dimensional mean-spirited man that he portrayed himself as, he needed to become someone with a much deeper meaning. Otherwise, his false attitude was easily be discovered.

Having said his piece, Rowan merely started walking forward towards the forest, ready to begin their little adventure. The first hour of their trip, however, was probably the most uneventful experience he had over had the pleasure of dealing with. Last time he went out, he found gold practically at the entrance of the forest, immediately gaining something from the trip. Now, however, he was simply walking around for an hour without any idea of where anything was. Creatures were around, yes, but they seemed to be avoiding them. It was undoubtedly the sight of something as frightening as Gram. That, at least, was what Rowan attributed it to. Fortunately, however, he discovered some tracks on the ground. "I guess we didn't waste an hour for nothing." He muttered to himself as he kneeled to the ground and began to examine the tracks carefully. At this point, he was absolutely certain something had been through there recently. I guess we'll just follow these for now. Who knows, we might find something interesting. He thought to himself as he continued forward.

User ImageThe man shrugged and Rowan's comment. "I'm not that old, more than capable of keeping up." It had been a few days. This was the first time the kid had really taken any time to speak to him. He didn't expect much, but he was surprised this was the first time they were moving out since leaving Carmillion. Alistair followed behind Rowan, keeping his eyes out for anything helpful. Animals weren't really anywhere in sight, seemingly avoiding their area. Odd... He had an idea about the occurrence, but didn't speak on it. It had been about an hour before his daughter's Knight spotted some tracks. Interesting enough...

Rowan's journey through the forest was met with no irritations. The old man was hardly even speaking at all as well, which made this trip all the better. Simply walking through the forest in silence was how he preferred his adventures into the wild. That way, there was nothing that could dampen his mood or frustrate him on his trip. Last time I had that irritating guy following us around and Blake trying to act all sweet and supportive of him. This time it's the perfect environment. We're just doing our own thing. I'm scouting, he's shutting his mouth and not speaking. Perfect. Rowan thought to himself as his eyes moved slightly to observe the man following him. While he did not have too many problems with Alistair, the memories of his parents' funeral were still closely associated with the man. He also felt highly insulted at the time when Alistair saw him as unfit to raise his little sister. Unfortunately, those very words rang true when Rowan had died the first time, leaving the poor girl with no family at all. Fortunately, someone had swooped in and saved the girl from a very unfortunate life.

Just the idea of that made a smile temporary appear on his face. In his death, his sister had gained the sort of life that he had wished for her. It was just unfortunate that he had no place in her life anymore, and there was no way for him to be her older brother again. It's almost too painful to think about... Rowan thought to himself as he quickly lose his smile, angrily staring forward at the path ahead of them. His mood was souring very quickly... and something strange seemed to be occurring. The killing intent within Gram was being emitted off of it, almost like a visible presence. However, there was obviously nothing there, just the sense that their was ill-will or something disastrous developing. Gram was obviously reacting to all of the negativity that had occurred recently. And it was, of course, still joyous in the slaughter of those green dragons just the other day. Rowan instantly noticed his change of attitude and gripped the armament. He stared at his arm, the limb being foreign to him and unfeeling. Just what could he do about this problem?

It was not long before he found the remains of a camp in the forest. Upon inspecting the place he discovered that only a single bedroll remained intact. All he could do was groan at his dissatisfaction with his reward for two hours of work. "I'm already hating this little trip more and more by the minute. At least I got to fight a few things last time. All I've seen so far is the tracks of people that probably died, and now I found their destroyed camp. You'd think there would be something more." He stated in irritation, moving forward throughout the forest. Whatever was going on, he would have to mentally block it out if he wanted to keep remotely happy about this little trip. Not having Blake around to try and counterbalance his negative personality was not helpful at all either. Usually, she was the one to keep him in check and make sure that he did not get out of hand. Without her around, however, he was nothing but complaints, anger, and absolute silence. This, of course, did not make him good for traveling company, especially for people he did not particularly care for.
