Does Anna spend a lot of time here with you?

The question hit Oliver slightly off guard and glanced off toward the girls, his brow furrowing slightly. The short answer was yes, she did spend quite a bit of time here with him, often overnight. He didn't mind taking care of her, of course, she was a happy, even-tempered child who really only needed some exercise and some positive reinforcement to get through the day. However, there were days where he really felt like he wasn't her uncle, but a second father, and it kind of bothered him to say the least. Her father was always busy, more so than her mother, and he felt that it was unfair to Anna. He wouldn't make a fuss about it, though. His sister didn't have time to look for a babysitter and he was pretty convenient... It felt wrong to even complain about it, really.

"Yeah, I watch her whenever my sister needs me, really. Her husband travels quite a bit." He said, rolling his shoulders. "Oh man, she spends literally hours outdoors when she's here. She's one of the main reasons why I'm still in shape!"

He laughed, even though it was pretty much the truth, and looked down to Zoe with a smile.

"Sure, two lemonades coming right up!" He exclaimed, reaching out for the cups and bottle. "How was the water? Pretty nice on a day like this, huh?"

Anna Sage nodded and followed Zoe out of the water. A drink sounded like a good idea before heading out on a walk, espescially if you were searching for fairies. You wouldn't want to meet a real fairy and not be able to talk to them because your mouth was all dried up! That would be embarrassing!

"Ooo, lemonade! I love this kind!" She cheered, tapping her hands on the table while Oliver poured. "Mhm! The water was super nice, but after we have a drink, we're going to go scout for fairies!"

She beamed toward Oliver, who had finished pouring and set the filled glasses in front of them, and paused to wait for Zoe to choose hers first. After all, she was the guest! It was only right that she picked which glass she wanted!

Phoenix picked up the rock that Zoe passed him and rolled it around in his hand, thinking about what Oliver said. He couldn't imagine being in a situation like Anna's parents, sending her away so frequently. Zoe spent the occasional night with her grandparents, but for the most part they spent a good deal of their time together because his work hours tended to work with her school hours.

"Fairies, huh?" He inquired curiously. Like Zoe, he too wouldn't have put much stock in the idea until recently. But now he couldn't really rule out anything, could he?

Zoe thanked Oliver for the lemonade before taking a long gulp, then nodded eagerly. "Right back there," she said, pointing to the path they'd be heading down so Phoenix would know where they were going. "That's okay, right?"

Phoenix nodded, setting down the rock and making shooing motions at the girls. "Just be careful," he warned, but gave a wink. They could see from where they were where the girls would be, and he wasn't worried.

Oh boy, visiting fairies huh? Oliver refrained from chuckling and simply continued to smile warmly. Not that Anna Sage had to know, but the reality of fairies being in the forest near the lake was, well... Somewhat made up. Odd things had been known to happen or show up while he went on walks, but he couldn't really attribute that to the activity of fairies. For all he knew, it was squirrels and birds and nothing more. But, his niece had latched onto the idea of forest fairies since the day she could speak, and he didn't want to be the one to dash her hopes of seeing one.

"Of course, but don't go too far. Dinner's soon." He said, nodding. "Oh, and do remember not to disturb any of the fairy house you see! You wouldn't want to scare them off!"

Anna Sage was grinning from ear to ear. She couldn't wait to show Zoe all of the little hideaways the fairies made and, if they were really careful, the tiny furniture inside. Oliver's reminder was met with a nod, as she drank down the last of her lemonade and set it down on the table, though she was sure the fairies wouldn't mind if they just peeked a little. They'd never leave the forest, it was too nice here!

"Okay, we won't!" She replied, motioning to Zoe. "Come on! Follow me!"

Oliver watched Anna lead Zoe away and took a breath, before turning his gaze to Phoenix again.

"I suppose you don't have fairies around where you live?" He chuckled, his attention turning to the grill. "... Truth be told, I make the miniature houses myself. Anna hasn't figured it out yet, but, I can't really rule out the existence of supernatural beings out there either. It's a belief that I kinda want to keep alive, at least in her for now."

He let out a sigh, part of him slightly embarrassed for his own belief, and clasped his hands.

"Soooo, shall we make sure everything's in order for when they come back?" He said.

Hope you don't mind that I had both of the girls rush off like that! I think we're good with one last post from you, if that's okay! o uo <3

It took no time for Zoe to finish off her drink and place the cup back on the table. "We'll be careful!" She added before taking off after Anna Sage.

Phoenix gave Oliver a sly look when the girls had gone and his new friend admitted his part in Anna's belief in fairies. "Well from what I've seen now, it doesn't look like she'll have much trouble keeping that belief alive," he said, attempting to look gravely serious and stroking his beard as if in deep thought.

"But yes, let's!" He hurried to tend to the food, which was near finished. The four of them would enjoy a lovely meal, the girls would likely tell them what all they found, if anything, and Phoenix considered that a very pleasant sounding evening. He was glad for their new friends.
