The woman in the mask watched the young shinobi walk out. He looked harrowed; damaged. A bit like herself, though it couldn't be seen. She heard his question and pondered a few moments on his question. Was he ready. "No. Nobody is ready for what is out there. This one wasn't ready when she was put into the field. She has the marks to prove it."She said, adjusting her mask briefly so that he could be one of a few that had seen her marred face. Where smooth skin once sat proudly, there was nothing but the scars of major burning and torture. "Nobody is really ready. It only gets a little better over time."She said, staying in place.

Zion tried his best to hold back his shock at seeing this girls scared face, but he guessed she noticed in someway, after all she was probably used to peoples reactions. Her words stuck with him however, It only gets a little better with time. Thinking back to his time in the academy he knew this should be obvious, but it was beyond difficult to accept, 'Nobody is ready?' He waited staying on his knees.

A voice echoed through his head.
"My big brother is the best shinobi in the academy!"
'Shut up, there's no way I'm the best'
"He taught me everything I know!"
'Yeh... so. I'm older than you, of course I know more than you'
"Promise me you'll always be the strongest!"
'How can you expect me to promise that?'
"He's gonna be the best shinobi in the world!"
'Why do you have so much faith in me?'
"One day I'm gonna be a strong as you"
Punching the ground a smile crept across his face. 'You always know how to piss me off'.

Yes this was his reality call, but that wasn't a bad thing at all, now he knew he wasn't ready, now he could begin. 'As strong as me huh? Guess I'm gonna need to cast a bigger shadow over you'. Standing up he brushed the dirt off his shirt, not as an act to clean himself as most of the dirt had already started to stain, but rather to calm himself. Cocking his head to the side so he could see the female shinobi out of the corner of his eye.
"Thanks. I'll do better next time." A moment passed before he turned to her a gave her the respect she deserved. Bowing his head slightly he gave a briefing of what he knew had happened inside. "That about sums it up. Oh, right. I have no idea where the other patients are, but with walls in front of their doors I couldn't check every room. I'm guessing that was you".

He didn't recognise this person but from her outfit he knew she was far higher the chain of command than someone like him, someone who'd yet to even receive a headband. All he could do now was follow her commands to the letter. Surely there'd be many injured that need tending to, not that he'd be much help in this respect, he can however help carry people to beds should they need. But this wasn't his call, it was hers and he respected that.

The girl seemed to have zoned out, looking down at the ground a few feet in front of her while absentmindedly picking at a small string on the end of her cloaks sleeve. She noticed he had been talking after about a minute of awkward silence had fallen. ."Hm? Yes. This one tried to help those trapped in the building with the entities. However it would be most unwise for us to re-enter the premises this early. They should wait for orders or reinforcements. " She said in somewhat of a detached manner while staring off at that one particular piece of ground.

Wait, something Zion didn't like the sound of. He preferred having some form of plan regardless of how limited it may be, but to simply wait for orders? He knew it'd take a lot for him to accept. 'Listen to your senior, they know what they're talking about'. He sat, "Well this'll take a while" Unsure of how best to use his time he went through his things, 'Yep, still have everything'. Then a thought crossed his mind. "What makes you think anyone who comes by this way can help? We could be the only people left relatively uninjured..." He knew this was probably closer to the truth than either of them wished, he mainly asked out of boredom but a part of him was hoping she could ease his discomfort. "If people come with injured and there's still dangers nearby, we'll put ourselves in a compromising situation surely?"

___Kirama's bodyflicker brought him to the exterior of the hospital, a large octagonal structure he'd only snatched glimpses of in passing during his short time in the village. It would seem that Jack's cleansing light had not reached it, or was unable to free it from the grasp of the nightmare, however. Active Byakugan scanned the pair, noting that despite their place outside of the hospital one was almost certainly strong enough to hold their own against whatever prowled the building. Or, at least, should have been.
___"Jack's ordered wounded into the hospital. Specifically places doctors and nurses wouldn't be if everything was normal, though." The genin said without so much as an introduction, a blood covered arm curling to thrust an equally crimson thumb over his shoulder back towards the Sero.
___Even a passing glance would notice how thoroughly drenched in the stuff the Hyuga actually was. Everything below his collarbone and just above his knee carried a now brownish red hue. Though there was no gore to go along with it, suggesting that it was not his but that of someone, or something else. He made his way closer after speaking, stepping off the water's surface to the edge of the platform on which the hospital rested. He'd wait for the pair to decide to help, or not - and of course Kumotake and the gravely wounded Miki - before he headed into the hospital himself.

Elle turned her head as the other approached then turned her mask back to the new blood genin. He was bored, restless. Adhd? She really didnt know. However she was pretty sure he was uninjured. "This one is uninjured. The only places doctors or nurses wouldnt be in a hospital are maintenance areas. The medical storage rooms are typically handled by couriers running supplies up to the various labs. This is where the others should go. Hand out blankets and water to them from the existing supplies. " She said clasping her arms behind her back. If jack was ordering this, itd be done without question. She really couldnt see any other way to do this. Approaching the door she would ease it open with one hand, standing to the side and looking around before stepping through the threshold. Place was wrecked but she wasnt convinced this dream would let it stay empty. For that matter, the voices were getting louder in her ears. She wasnt unsteady on her feet yet, and had just woken up from a medically induced sleep during whatever..this was. "Step lightly." She warned the two.

Zion didn't have much to say, actual shinobi were here now, his assistance was no longer needed. However, hearing Jack's name sparked something in him. Handing out blankets and water was something he could do, Jack did want them to be safe after all but why away from where the doctors could help was a mystery to him, all he'd focus on was assisting wherever he could and leave the others to handle whatever else may come. "Alright, I'll follow your lead and grab some supplies." All he had to do for now was not get in there way.

___Kirama watched the more advanced shinobi wander towards the doors and open them, noting her relative struggle with the process. She moved with a weight more experience shinobi rarely did, unless they were completely lacking in mobility prowess. His Byakugan scanned about, finding no sign of the ones he left back at the office. That figured. Even with Sukoso, Kumotake was likely to be slowed. Miki's injuries required care in transport and he wasn't exactly doing so hot himself.
___For now, Kirama would remain silent in regards to commentary, take a moment to make sure his bow was ready to be drawn if absolutely necessary. There was no need to say anything, or anything much to say really. His job was straightforward: make sure the hospital was clear enough that Miki wouldn't die.
___"Fly, Junsei Raikou." The Genin muttered to himself as he tugged on his blood caked gloves. A moment later they sparked up - summoning the lightning kunai of a technique that would normally be exceptionally taxing for a shinobi of his rank. If the process tired him though, it didn't show. Two kunai per hand, he moved towards the door, following the other shinobi in to complete their task.

The trip from the Mizukage's office to the Sero had been smooth and without disturbance minus the small fright right at the beginning when Kagerou stopped in front of the door, again, because people suddenly reappeared. It was both a comfort and a shock. Comfort in that the group wouldn't need to worry about maybe stumbling through someone as they appeared in the middle of their trip. Shock in that Kagerou's decision to leave early nearly proved dangerous if the timing was just a little bit off. The office's reception area wasn't exactly packed, but it was hardly empty either. Some people stared at the sudden appearance of at least three shinobi that looked like they had gone through hell and back, but this was Jack's office. Weird things were a dime a dozen around here. Some just turned away after a while. The rest looked to the secretary for some sort of answer, and when all they received was a shrug, even they went back to business like it was nothing.

Then, of course, there was the girl grieving her fallen pet, who Kagerou hadn't really had the chance to notice previously. Her movements slowed as she passed by the mourning, but did not halt. Like with most others in the village, she was no stranger to seeing grief. It wasn't that hard to imagine what had happened, even if she did not know the details. Likewise, it didn't take long for her to realize that there was little she could do to alleviate the pain.

The rest of the travel was uneventful minus some odd looks and a natural parting of the crowds to let the bloody group pass. The ice cream girl stuck to her word for the most part, taking the lead and dealing with opening doors and such. Kagerou was grateful, even though she didn't say much. She fell in line a little behind Takeda and the child he carried, keeping an eye to make sure that Takeda wasn't trying to fake that he was fine and capable of carrying another. It wasn't hard for Kagerou to trust him, in general. It was just hard to trust that he really was as okay as he said he was after seeing first-hand everything he had suffered.

Kirigaku're general hospital was as busy as always, and among the crowd, Kagerou had no way of knowing who it was that had to experience the horrors of the nightmare. However, it was business as usual, and when multiple blood-stained teens plus one unconscious jounin entered, they immediately received priority attention. Questions regarding the conditions of each along with how they came to be like this mingled. Kagerou found herself in charge of answering these thanks to a combination of willingness on her part and a general familiarity with the hospital staff. Using descriptions over names so that she wouldn't need to introduce everyone, Kagerou started by describing Shadow's puzzling condition, "The child with cat ears is unconscious but we don't know why." Shadow was the most obvious problem, but Kagerou figured that Takeda should also get some attention. Although, she wasn't sure how much he would welcome it, so her voice dropped to a whisper as she described his condition, "Also, checkup on the boy holding him. He says he's alright, but he recently had to chop off many of his own tentacles." Last was the girl who Kagerou knew nothing about but figured should probably get checked anyways, "I'm not sure about the other girl, but I think everyone needs a checkup." She wasn't exaggerating, and she explained why she thought so, "There was some bizarre event that us and others took part in. Expect them to come in a bit. One of them, in particular, will need attention: she lost both limbs on one side." Word of Miki's terrible condition drew an immediate reaction and Kagerou was urged to give further information before she could explain the rest. "I-I don't know how it happened," she answered truthfully, trying to keep up with the questions, "No, I think everything is okay now. We don't need to raise an alarm. The Mizukage already handled it." Mention of the bizarre Mizukage created the same effect that Kagerou saw in the Mizukage's office. No answers were provided, but everyone just seemed to sort of accept it. She knewy why. It wasn't necessarily because they wanted to but because they understood the possible futility of trying to understand. The only questions that followed regarding how everyone got hurt was validation that everything was over, which Kagerou confirmed. A few more questions regarding the general state of those coming in were asked, which Kagerou explained she wasn't sure about but didn't think there was anyone more injured than Miki.

Most of the group that had initially surrounded the newcomers had dissipated by this point. The first to go were the non-emergency staff that couldn't stick around for long. Shadow and Takeda were taken to be given medical attention not long after Kagerou described their conditions. Takeda, no doubt, being asked his own set of questions. Shadow, of course, was in no shape to answer anything. Ice cream girl was probably asked about how she was feeling directly. Mention of Miki had set people rushing to get ready for her arrival almost as quickly as it had set people to start barraging Kagerou with question about the actual severity of the situation. By the time someone asked about how Kagerou was feeling, something that she forgot to mention, there wasn't much of a crowd left. After all, once most of the information was given, there was plenty to do. There were others that needed care in the facilities, after all. Unlike the caution she showed for the health of the others, Kagerou laughed and waved off concern about her own condition, saying, "Oh, I'm fine. Just need a little time. That's all." Too bad for her she was dragged off anyways.

• Specialist -The user chooses to specializing in healing medical techniques and gains a great boost to their chakra control in that area. At Chunnin, they gain a -5 chakra reduction to perform techniques in their specialty. at Jounin, -10, at Konin -15 at Sannin -20. To clarify, they they gain a -5 chakra reduction every rank, to a maximum of -20 at sannin. All medical jutsu are still learnable by both sides, but the chakra control only applies to the chosen side.

• Grand Performance - The user can perform both types of arts (ninjutsu and genjutsu) through their performance or instrument, often casting them at the same time (must pay for both techniques). Can perform D rank techniques through instrument at gennin, C at Chunnin, B at jounin, A at Konin, and S at Sannin.

• Learn Medical techniques one (1) post faster.

• Learn ninjutsu (1) post faster.

• Learn genjutsu one (1) post faster.

• D"eye"versity - Through the use of custom techs, Kagerou can swap between the normally limited abilities and techniques for her sharingan, potentially giving her access to all eye abilities and mangekyou techs. She can never have more than the written limits at any one time (e.g. access to all eye abilities but cannot use more than two at a time). In addition to learning the required custom and whatever additional requirements that custom might have, Kagerou needs to fulfill certain conditions for a safe swap. Each Sharingan ability or technique swapped must be retrained and adjusted to, a process that takes twenty [20] posts at first for each Sharingan ability/technique, is reduced by two [2] posts every time the Sharingan ability/technique is safely retrained, and can take a minimum of six [6] posts per Sharingan ability/technique. If necessary, Kagerou can perform a riskier, instant swap on the fly without the readjustment period, but these swaps can only last for up to five [5] posts and disables the Sharingan, which needs to recover from the strain, for twice [x2] the number of posts that the swap lasted for. Techniques learned with the 'To Copy' Sharingan ability, which can be swapped out, are not forgotten but must be retrained every time Kagerou safely swaps to the 'To Copy' ability. Instant swaps to the 'To Copy' ability give Kagerou all of her copied techniques without needing to retrain them. For every time Kagerou safely swaps to her 'To Copy' ability, her copied techniques take two [2] less posts to retrain, going down to a minimum of one [1] post to retrain each copied technique.

• Miracle Performance - Kagerou can perform healing eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing healing medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use healing hands.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Mind and Body - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. Plants cultivated by Kagerou grow as if the soil they are nourished by is +1 grade higher than it actually is. Unfertilized soil yields crops in 2 rl weeks. Low-grade fertilizer yields crops in 1 week. High-grade fertilizer reaches a new level of fast and yields crops in 4 days. (Post-acceptance note: I just realized that there is an Evergreen religion in this guild. I did not mean for this to be a religious PA in any way. It's just botany. I hope that's not a problem.)

Noémi Clementine Lelièvre ll Mystic Hero :: Blood Bender ll Doton - Suiton ll Kirigakure :: D-Genin ll Aburame, Walking Hive

The small watch dog of an Aburame did exactly what she set out to do from the moment she stepped out of that nightmare of an office into the stark change of the world being returned back to its natural state. Only leaving its tainted claws in the shinobi it had entangled, such as the girl grieving over some creature... her pet perhaps? Tamers were a thing were they not? No longer was the sun watching her every step or the sky colored in a sickly tinge, the townsfolk seemingly unharmed or effected by the memory thieving monsters that were plaguing the shinobi mere minutes before. Her off colored eyes kept their focus on anyone of the townsfolk in their path, for all she knew this was just another one of those thieving monsters tricks... But surely they were banished, right? Why else would everyone in the office put their faith in the Mizukage and accept his word truth if not for him have proven himself reliable. While she didn't know much about the Mizukage she decided to put her trust in his words too, lowering her guard around the townsfolk slightly. With a smile she made sure all obstructions on their way to the medical institution were swiftly solved, from kept doors held open to slowing down to make sure the boys didn't take a tumble. Once inside the building she was rudely awakened to the fact that her ability to help had reached its end as the nurse took the reigns of leadership back. Taking a step back to offer her support to the blooded boy holding her cat eared hero, proving her small frame held hidden strength as she helped hold the pair steady as the group was swarmed by nurses.

"Merde. It is like a, how you say... beehive in here." She whispered with whimsical enthusiasm the the wounded boy at her side. Her smile spreading into her eyes as she watched the nurse of the group explain the aches and woes of said group. The mention of tentacles made her raise a brow to the boy next to her, was that why he seemed to be carrying himself like a sandbag draining of sand? "Moi? Non non, nothing to worry over, just bloodied my nose a little." She hummed as the nurse carried on. Once she was done explaining the hospital staff set to work, ushering away the two with the more intensive injuries away. Noémi had immediately started following the staff who were now carrying her cat ear hero, only to be stopped by a doctor as they passed through a set of double doors. She attempted to protest, but with the monsters gone she had no real excuse to stick by the hero's side... as much as she would have liked to. Biting any further attempts to weasel past she reluctantly walked back to the green haired nurse only for the nurse to be dragged away as well. Noémi crossed her arms as a nurse took a few seconds to make sure her nose wasn't to badly damaged, cleaning the now dried blood from her upper lip. Soon the hospital nurse left her too, leaving the small woman alone and feeling slightly crossed by the whole ordeal. Not that it would effect her mood, deciding to instead use it as fuel for her own stubbornness. Taking a seat in the waiting area she rested her hands in her lap and kept her eyes trained over the room so she might once again spot one of the people who ushered her hero away. She wanted to at the very least offer her thanks before leaving. 'Oh dear, I didn't get his name... might make relocating him a little harder.' She thought, tapping her gloved finger on her chin as she tried to recall if she had heard a name in passing perhaps.

Quote; "It had flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart? We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect." :: Patrick Rothfuss

The sudden appearance of people initially shocked Zion, 'What? Wait how?', soon though he stopped caring maybe his mother was alive and well, well as well as an ill person can be. With a quick word to the others he was with "I have to go. I'm sure you can handle it from here. Sorry" He ran off down the corridor, passing a strange group of bloodied individuals, 'Guess they were caught in the nightmare too'. He didn't stop though, his mothers safety was his only concern right now.

As he went through the twists and turns of the hospital he realised that something must have kept these people from the nightmare, 'was there a jutsu for even that? Was this something that the village prepared for? How do you even prepare for something like that?'. It didn't matter right now, he was quickly approaching Lyra's room. Some Nurses politely asked that he stopped running, to which he did, he hadn't even realised how fast he was going until he felt his hurried breath.
"Sorry. I won't. I'll walk now" His chest heaved rapidly with heavy panting and just getting those words out was a difficult enough task.

As he placed his hand on his mother's door, he took a moment to steady himself, 'She doesn't know what happened, just say your genin exam was more difficult than expected'. Slowly he opened the door, in case she was sleeping. He was greeted to the sight of his mother sitting up in bed watching his sister sleeping on the chair beside her, apparently waiting for him.
"Sorry I took so long, I got a little... Caught up" He found it hard to hide his overwhelming joy at seeing his family safe.
                                    "So?" His mother asked inquisitively
                                    "So?" He responded confused
"Did you pass" She replied, almost as if it were an obvious question
"Oh... Well.." He was still struggling to hide the dark truth he had to endure before this moment. Taking a moment to build tension and push the darker thoughts to the back of his mind[ "Of course" He smirked
His sister jumped up out of her chair giving Zion a hug that resembled a tackle more than anything.
"I knew you would! We never doubted you, I mean you are the..." Realising she was far too eager to congratulate her brother Amy chose to change her demeanour to her more usual annoyed youngster "Took you long enough. At this rate I'll be a genin at a younger age than you"
                                    "Yeh?"
Zion mocked "I'm not so sure about that"
"You think I'm gonna fail two years!"
Amy countered, sure he'd agree it wasn't possible
"No..." He responded as though he were sorry "I think you're gonna fail three" He teased
"Play nicely now" For a moment no one said a word, they were all enjoying each others company too much for words to express. Eventually the silence and smiles was broken by Amy.
"So... Why're you still here? Go on off you go! Hurry up!" She stated as she push here brother to the door.
                                    "We're very proud of you"
                                    "Yeh, sure, whatever"
"I'm glad to see you're alright"
Zion answered, trying to ignore the fact he was being pushed out of the room by his little sister, but eventually giving in and retaliating by tickling her.
"She's not dying. You're so melodramatic!" Amy scoffed, doing her best to hold back any laughter. Lyra smiled as she watched the loves of her life get on so well.
"I'm recovering well. Don't let me distract you on your way to the top" Then putting on her best parenting voice she added. "Remeber. You work for the good of the village now. I think that's what your father would say in this situation..." Taking a pause to let that sink in, she returned to her graceful manor and soft, almost silk like voice "Now listen to your sister for once and get out of here"
Giving in, he allowed his sister to push him out the door. As he waited for the door to close behind him She gave him one last hug and whispered "Well done" Then the door closed.

Zion barley made it to the reception before his emotions overwhelmed him. He simply found an unoccupied chair, curled into a ball and wept. 'They're ok. Thank f*ck'. Heading to the Sero would have to wait, right now he needed this moment.

Wiping away the tears Zion got up, slapped his checks, "It's now or never" He proclaimed to himself. With that he got up, righted his clothes and left the hospital.

Takeda's eyes remained forwards along the entire way to the Hospital from the kage's office, not even wasting the energy or focus in turning his head to take in his surroundings. If he did, it would cause him to focus more on the pain which reared its ugly head with every step, each time he had to adjust to keep Shadow in his arms. If the boy hadn't potentially suffered a head injury and wasn't unconscious, he would've just thrown him over his shoulder and carried him like that. But there was no way he could actually know what happened to the boy. Still, he kept his composure, feeling Kagerou's eyes on his back. It suddenly became a matter of pride, not wanting to falter or struggle in front of someone he felt he was supposed to keep safe. But I snapped from my frustration anyways and attacked everyone around me, her and Nozomi included, even if it was just to restrain them. He thought, feelings turning a bit sour at the inner mention of the red-head as well, not exactly on the best of terms with her. It'd probably be better for the village as a whole if they didn't work on the same team again, or be forced to converse with one another, since he definitely wouldn't be approaching her for small talk anymore.

The trip over went fine for the most part, without a single stumble or request for a break. While his tendrils did take quite a lot of damage, the muscles that he built up himself over six months of training pulled through for him. There was the pain of straining himself anyways, and it was immense, but his own tolerance was what allowed him to tough it out. The girl who seemed to include jokes in most of her sentences did her part in clearing the way for them, opening doors and such, something he was pretty thankful for. After all, it wasn't like she really needed to come down to the hospital with them. Walking through, they were almost immediately swarmed with medical staff, something that he wasn't really opposed to but it did sort of intrude on his personal space. There was a whisper nearby that he could catch from the girl with various colors strewn along her hair, continuing her use of bug-related puns. "Merde? Yup...I'm not surprised though, after all that went down. I'd be surprised if it were business as normal." He spoke loud enough for the girl to hear, before barely catching a word from Kagerou's own whisper. "tentacles." It made him shudder a bit, making him think of an octopus or something along those lines rather than what he actually was, often sticking to the word "tendrils" since it was more fitting. It didn't surprise him that she was talking about his state of being to them, given she watched him lay in that puddle of his blood. He was prideful and stubborn to a fault, but he wasn't so stupid that he'd get upset over her trying to do something for his own good.

One of the staff came over almost immediately after Kagerou was finished speaking, taking Shadow from his arms, and Takeda's eyes watched the mans expression change to one of surprise from what happened then. As if continuing a natural healing process once more now that his arms were no longer subject to stress, they seemed to tremble in an irregular way, like a high speed series of twitching, while the Jiongu himself didn't react in any particular way. That staff in particular probably hadn't dealt with one of his kind before, and murmured a brief apology for staring before walking off with Shadow. The strange girl with a fixation on bugs followed after him, though he was sure she wouldn't get too far.

"You're the tentacle boy, yes? Jiongu, I imagine?" Came a feminine voice, and another shudder from Takeda, a sigh involuntarily escaping from his lips. "Tendrils. And yes." He said, turning his head to see the woman who he imagined would be examining him. Light cornflower blue hair, long, with her eyes a similar shade. Young in appearance, likely her early twenties, with delicate features. She was pretty, but also familiar in a way. "Oh. You're, umm...six months ago, I think it was you who..-" He couldn't exactly find the words to use, however she interrupted him with a sudden "Oh!!!" that let him know his assumption was correct. "Shirai-san, I believe that's your name. I was given a brief medical record on you six months ago after everything was as calm as it would get. So...you decided to stick around and become a Shinobi. Looks like you experienced your first punishment of battle as well, come with me." She said, turning her back and walking towards a hallway before he could really speak. Takeda remembered that it was her and a large male who fished him out from under a body of water after the crisis. He was a bit surprised to see that she was working as medical staff rather than the ANBU, since that's the impression he got last time. Either way, he deiced to follow after her, leaving the rest of the group to their own recovery.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.As always, Kagerou had been perfectly honest. She was physically fine and had managed to convince herself that all she suffered from the nightmare was a mental fright that she could sort through with time. The nurse that looked over her and, for a little bit, the doctor found nothing wrong, as Kagerou had said. However, neither weren't professionals for nothing. For them, the incident was still a bizarre mystery, but they were medical professionals and not interrogation officials. As non-shinobi that worked closely with the shinobi, they were used to the secrets and focused only on making sure Kagerou was healthy. They technically released her after a quick check up and the customary reminder to come back to the hospital if she felt anything off but made sure to have a small talk between themselves about how the room would be unused for about half an after Kagerou leaves. Kagerou got the message loud and clear. They were letting her use the small room she had her check-up in to collect her thoughts.

She accepted the opportunity.

Once the doctor and nurse left, Kagerou curled up, bringing her knees up to her chin. The bed she sat on was not comfortable enough to bring sleep, but she didn't want to nap anyways. The memories of the monsters, the disfigured demon corpses that screamed with the voices and faces of the ones she loved, her allies struggling against horrors and their attempts to help only hurting each other, and everything else chased sleep away from Kagerou's tired mind. Repeating what she did back during the aftermath of the Sero incident, she stayed awake and let it all flow through her head: what she saw, what she felt, what she thought. It was a terrible time, the past few hours, but they had undeniably happened and she needed to accept them as they were if she wanted to move on. At least, that's how she always handled her problems. "Hakuna Matata" as a children's book she read once long ago put it. It means no worries. Of course, she had learned already that it wasn't possible to be completely worry free, but she did believe that holding on to worries wouldn't do her any good.

Here, sitting safe and sound in this room, Kagerou had all the time to be calm and shift through her experience of the past few hours. She could clench her jaws at the remnants of horror she had pushed to the back of her mind, she could tighten her fists and she recounted and elaborated on how powerless she had been, she could flinch in fear and sympathetic pain to the injuries that befell the others, she could shudder at the terror of the nightmare, and while she couldn't disturb the peace of the hospital with the shouts and screams she had suppressed at the worst of moments, it was enough for someone like her to just clench her teeth as she revisited those memories. When it was all over, she was in a cold sweat. However, it was not only the bad things that came to her mind out of the mental exercise. Besides the painful memories were also thoughts of constructive criticism. She did not let the horror, powerlessness, fear, pain, terror, and the worst of the worst poison her mind with doubt and helplessness. Over and over again, she reminded herself that she had done the best she could at the time. Even when hindsight revealed that she could have done something better, she did not blame herself too badly because just as she believed in others, she also believed in herself. Hindsight was different from the thoughts in the rush of the moment and she believed that with the mentality she had at the time, she had made the best out of the situation. There were plenty of thing she could have done better and she would get to improving on those, but that would come in due time.

The reflection ended with a stretch to release all the bad emotions and a smile to chase away the negative thoughts. A smile for both the symbolic reason of a second chance and the scientific reason that smiling, even when unhappy, made it easier to be happy. It would be weeks, perhaps months, before Kagerou would be able to truly accept Takeda's blood-curdling scream, the sight of a half-limbed girl, or the myriad of monsters she had to face as just another part of her past. However, for now, she had made good progress if she could just continue functioning normally in everyday life while her mind adapted to the new experiences. She had, at least, confirmed one of the few good thoughts she had: while it had been personally more terrifying, this incident really had been leagues better than the Sero. The victims were much fewer, and so far, no casualties had been reported. Plenty of injuries and scars, both mental and physical, but such things could always be healed. That was what Kagerou believed. That was also why she smiled. She had learned, since the Sero, that if she wanted to really be of help, then she needed to be able to smile.

Kagerou slid off her bed, peace of mind reflecting themselves in fluid movements but the lingering fear also made itself known through a slight damper on the usually eager motions she would have when brimming with determination as she was now. Training. She wanted to get right on it. Practice made perfect, after all. During her reflection, she had decided that there certainly was some important connection between Jack and the unconscious child. He was probably still working even though he no doubt needed his own time to collect his thoughts, but telling the Mizukage to rest wasn't something Kagerou could even dream of being able to do. What she could do, though, was to proceed without him so that if, by chance, he pushed himself to look into what his student was doing, he would feel no obligation to step in himself. Besides, even if that wasn't a reason why, Kagerou just didn't want to wait idly while her teacher was handling his myriad other duties. Now, she understood the village's new rules regarding genin learning. They were restricted from access to the resources that taught techniques, requiring their teacher's supervision to learn anything. However, what Kagerou wanted right now wasn't techniques. She wasn't medical knowledge, and that was gained, for people like her, by working alongside hospital staff.

Purposefully, Kagerou exited the examination room and made her way to the reception desk, which she also knew handled the placement of last minute additions to the hospital, usually consisting of ninja like her. The lady at the reception desk recognized Kagerou. Of course she would. Not because Kagerou helped during the hectic recovery after the Sero. Nope, it was because her accident-prone father probably held the record of most hospital visits in the village. Looking quizzically at Kagerou, the nurse informed her that her father had not been admitted into the hospital recently. Kagerou replied with thanks but clarified that she was here because she wanted to perform some jobs at the hospital as a medical ninja. That is, assuming the hospital had anything they needed help with.

There was a few minutes of waiting as the nurse checked numbers and names. First she verified that Kagerou was okayed for work at the hospital. Then she had to determine if there was anything she could do. A few questions and answers were exchanged during this process, both to identify Kagerou and the fields she wanted to work in. Kagerou tried to answer with "anything" at first, but that was hardly acceptable. Kagerou was forced to narrow her field to just surgery.

There was on other thing the receptionist recognized Kagerou for. Of course she knew that the aspiring medic had been at the front of all the recent hubbub about the patients heavily wounded in some mysterious incident. One of them, in fact, was just getting ready for her surgery. Thinking it was a good match, the receptionist assigned to Kagerou, "There is an emergency surgery about to commence for the patient Miki Uchiha in order to treat her missing arm and leg. The doctors are planning it out right now, it'll be a good learning opportunity and any extra hands are welcome because the surgery is on such short notice. What do you think? What you'll be expected to do will be up to surgeon in charge, so I can't really tell you what to expect."
Kagerou, of course, was familiar with the patient. She didn't know that the person she hastily attempted to treat was also an Uchiha like her. There hadn't been time to exchange names, but missing limbs and emergency treatment were really all the clues she needed to understand who she would be attending to. Although, just knowing the patient wasn't any reason for Kagerou to refuse the job. She nodded and accepted, "I'll take that job. What room?".

Directions to the room where the doctors were planning the surgery were given and Kagerou followed them to the room. Kagerou was familiar enough with a system that played such a big part in her personal goals as a shinobi. This single job would actually be registered as multiple jobs, depending on how the doctor in charge proceeded with the surgery.

As Kagerou entered the room after her polite knock on the door was answered and her purpose was stated, she saw that the doctors were still in the process of planning what to do with Miki. In a way, this was a sort of diagnosis, but one that relied on paperwork filled with already collected data instead of personal observation of the human body. Using the collected data, ranging from the patient's past medical history to images of the current problem, the doctors diagnosed and decided on the best course of action without needlessly crowding around the patient. [1/3]

One of the aides led Kagerou to a chair and gave her a notepad and pen to jot down any notes the doctors had. It appeared that her role was firmly relegated to practically no role. The important decisions were all made by and discussed amongst the small team of surgeons and nurses involved with the surgery. Two others were already taking down the notes that would make their way into the files or maybe they were handling the paperwork? It was hard for Kagerou to tell without being rude about it. She stuck to her own work and diligently noted everything she thought was important about the conversation. Although, she felt that no matter how hard she tried, the other two were more professional about their work than she was. They piped into the conversation every now and then, asking questions or commenting on things said. They might have been on the sidelines like Kagerou, but they were clearly much more aware of the situation than she was. Kagerou was just too busy writing in everything she didn't know about the spread of infection, potential threats caused by leaving dead skin, consideration of future prosthetics, and so on and so forth to even think. [2/3]

Before Kagerou knew it, the meeting was over. She may have been slightly overwhelmed, but she had at least kept abreast with everything. In the final review of the meeting, she checked off that she could at least say she remembered hearing about everything mentioned. Everyone was assigned their jobs. The main surgeon, his assistant, and the assisting nurses clearly knew what was going to happen and in what order, minimizing the need for conversation in the operating room. The two aides would mostly be on standby for any sort of accident and were already briefed on just what they might expect. One of the aides, the senior of the two, would be responsible for undoing the stitches on the leg after work on the arm was finished. Kagerou would be responsible for the same things as the two aides, minus the short hands-on practice. Although, she was sort of a last, last resort. [3/3]

Kagerou's mind rolled around the importance and gravity of the operation that was about to take place. However, Kagerou did not let the size of the task get to her. For this mission, she would not be responsible for the actual surgery portion of the operation. Her responsibility lay in backup assistance, so even if it sounded like a major deal, her role was actually at the same level as any other medical task appropriate for her rank and skill. So long as she remained calm and did not let the stress get to her, it could actually be considered a lot easier. As she calmed, Kagerou recalled,

An important part of any surgery was the sterilization process, also known as purification. Kagerou mused as she took off her clothes in the changing room, She changed into hospital scrubs, trying her best not to change the sterile clothing too much. She had washed her hands before changing, but it was always better to be safe than sorry. [1/4]

There was a technique Kagerou knew that would have made this whole sterilization process happen in a flash, but that wasn't something universally available to all of the hospital staff. Besides, there was just no need to use chakra if she didn't have to. Wash hands, change into scrubs, and finally wash hands again but more thoroughly. It was lengthy, but arguably less tiring. Now that she was changed into scrubs, all Kagerou had to do to clean her body was wash her hands in the large sink with the special, antibacterial soap, making sure to clean everything up to her elbows. [2/4]

There was one final step to the purification process: tools. This much, as a medically aligned graduate of Kirigakure's academy, Kagerou was expected to know how to do. Most of the tools were already sterilized, but they had to be double checked. The ones that weren't sterilized would, of course, need to be. This was the job given to Kagerou to do alone because the other two aides were busy assisting the nurses and surgeons purify. Because the nurses and surgeons would definitely be in direct contact with the tools and patient during the surgery, they needed the extra precaution of having already clean folk dress them. [3/4]

Kagerou brought out the various surgical and other tools needed. There were the expected needles and thread for re-stitching, as well as the tools to take out the first set of stitches. There were also cutting tools to get rid of any dead skin. The surgeons expected that they would need to cut even more of Miki's arm off to prevent any infection from occurring. Besides these tools that hurt to heal were also more standard doctor's fare, such as a stethoscope, to perform one, last diagnosis on Miki to ascertain her condition before beginning the surgery. Kagerou carefully arranged all of these, cleaning those that needed to be cleaned. [4/4]

By the time Kagerou had finished with purifying herself and the tools, Miki had also been sterilized for surgery. The doctors and nurses were just beginning the final diagnosis of her condition before starting. They needed the tools Kagerou was in charge of to proceed, though. [1/3]

The second aide, the one not in charge of undoing the stitches on Miki's leg, was charged with the physical part of this pre-surgery diagnosis. He used the stethoscope and various other doctor's diagnostic tools that Kagerou brought to examine Miki's body. Everything examined was announced out loud, pulse rate, breathing, etc.. However, there was no one to write anything down this time. The group was in the surgery room, outside objects like pens and paper did not belong here. [2/3]

It wasn't like anything needed to be written, though. This diagnosis wasn't for the records so much as it was verification of the previous data examined in the planning room. Once everything was confirmed, the aide moved back and the surgeons and nurses moved forwards. [3/3]

The surgery started, and Kagerou stood as still as possible in the quiet room. Miki lay clean and bare on the operation table, all traces of the dirt and blood having been cleaned off of her before the operation. She had presumably been moved from whatever trauma room she had been assigned to when she entered the hospital to this operating room, getting cleaned sometime in between. There had been one special instruction Kagerou had been given that was different from what the two aides were responsible for. Of the three, basically, interns, Kagerou was the only one that could use medical jutsu. [1/4]

Even though her medical jutsu wasn't strong, it could prove to be useful should certain unforeseen situations crop up. If anything like that happened, then she was expected to step up and assist the other person, the assistant surgeon, who could use eiseijutsu. For that purpose, among the tools Kagerou sterilized, Kagerou also cleaned her own bells. [2/4]

Instead of rubbing her hands all over each other to cast eiseijutsu, it would be much more hygienic to tap out a rhythm and cast the needed technique. Granted, her options for performance were incredibly limited, but a few was better than none. That being said, Kagerou was wearing her bells and standing very still because she didn't want their ringing to distract the operation. [3/4]

To Kagerou's relief, the operation was finished without a hitch. The doctor successfully removed the makeshift stitches of the arm, sawed off the portions that couldn't be saved, and re-stitched the arm. The aide also removed the stitches of the leg without any problems and the surgeon took charge again to separate the unhealthy flesh from healthy flesh and re-stitch the leg. Kumotake hadn't done a bad job, Kagerou still thought that. However, after seeing these new stitches, she understood the difference between professional and amateur. Kumotake's stitches, and Kagerou's if she had been the one to try, would have allowed Miki to heal but they wouldn't really know how smoothly the healing would go. These neat stitches the doctor had just finished, on the other hand, really looked like they had firm control over how the arm would heal, creating a nice, smooth surface for a future prosthetic. [4/4]

The final stitches were set in place, but the treatment wasn't done yet. There was a second purification process needed. Purification of the patient was left in the more capable hands of the aide that did not unstitch Miki. He was the only one in the room, besides Kagerou, without blood on his hands. [1/3]

The doctors and nurses in the room were in charge of only purifying themselves and then moving on to their other business, be it more work or a well-deserved rest. That left Kagerou and the intern not purifying Miki to clean themselves and prepare all the surgical and diagnostic tools for sanitation. They wouldn't be able to completely sanitize the tools. That required special procedures and whatnot that were usually left to another team. [2/3]

The two aides cleaned off their hands first and then reached for the bloody tools. The work was divided equally in terms of time, but because the other aide was just much more used to this job, he ended up cleaning a good deal more than Kagerou. The surgical tools were placed into one group that would receive further cleaning. [3/4]

The diagnostic tools, meanwhile, did not need the extra step of cleaning. All of them that would have were disposable and had been, as expected, disposed of once used. Once the last tool was set aside, the two changed and then cleaned again to get the last of the blood off. [4/4]

The cleaning of the tools signaled the end of work for the intern that sanitized alongside Kagerou. However, probably because Kagerou had just started working, the doctor caught her as she was about to head back to the reception desk and asked if she'd like to follow him along for the post-surgery diagnosis. [1/3]

Kagerou readily agreed, and the two went straight to the room Miki had been assigned to before, and now after, the surgery. There wasn't a second purification stop. The doctor had already collected all the tools he would need for the diagnosis and Kagerou had just cleaned herself. [2/3]

The post-surgery diagnosis of Miki was simple. It was like most other check-ups, except it was on an unconscious person. Heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and any signs of potential threats were examined to make sure that 1) the surgery had fixed the problem and 2) that nothing had gone wrong during it. It was over in a few minutes with the conclusion that all Miki needed for now was rest. Of course, it was a given that her condition would continue to be observed for the next few hours. [3/3]

The doctor left once the check-up was over and he'd answered one or two of Kagerou's questions. However, Kagerou stayed in the room. She had been attentive throughout the diagnosis. She knew how to be a good student, at the very least, but she wouldn't have been honest if she claimed that she wasn't distracted at all during it.

It wasn't because of Miki. The novelty of partaking in the surgery of someone she knew, even just a little, before the operation had already worn off. This time, it was a similar novelty but with a different subject. Kagerou hadn't expected to see the cat-eared child when she entered the room for Miki's diagnosis, but there she was, and in hindsight, it made sense for the hospital to room them together.

Among the questions Kagerou asked the doctor was if he happened to know what was wrong with the other patient in the room, claiming that she sort of knew him. He had answered quizzically that he couldn't reveal much about the patient's personal data but he recalled hearing that there didn't seem to be anything physically wrong with him. That was about when he left.

Alone in the room, now, Kagerou crept up to Shadow's bed and red the information displayed at its foot. she rolled the names through her mind, glad to have something more than a face and vague descriptors to identify them. She had an interest in these two that was just a little bit above the normal amount for complete strangers. She had no recollection of hearing about a Miki Uchiha from her father's side of the family, and while it wasn't like she knew all the Uchiha in the village, there was reasonable curiosity now that she happened to meet one that she didn't know. As for Shadow Hunyistir, Kagerou could not shake away the expression she saw on Jack's face as he gently touched the boy right before annihilating the threat to the village. Who was this kid and why did it feel like he ended up taking the brunt of the consequences for whatever was happening on the other side of the door?

[x] The world around me was dark. The few lights I could see seemed sickly in color and mist whirled in front of them, revealing that I was in a fog, the cool moisture chilling me to the bone. My head felt just as heavy. I couldn't think of... anything. Who or where I was, faces or names of people I knew... nothing. I rubbed my right arm in an effort to warm myself--why couldn't i move my right hand? Or feel it? I moved my fingers slowly down and felt metal, but looking at it, it was too dark to see.

As I moved forward, light gradually began to filter through the haze, and the ground began to slosh underneath my feet as I stepped into water. Rot hit my nose, and all around buildings became visible, overgrown and decrepit, half sunken in the stagnant, algae filled waters around it. The sky above was black, save for a bright light that emanated from a tall structure before me. I blinked several times to let my eyes adjust and found myself staring at a giant tree. Its boughs glowed faintly, but the culmination of all of it was enough to cast shadows on the world below it. I couldn't place the familiar feeling it gave for the life of me. Then again, I couldn't recall anything before arriving in this place. At least, I assumed I existed before waking here?

The earth trembled, causing strong ripples to form across the water beneath me until is sloshed high enough to soak my shorts. Something under the tree moved, and let out an immense roar that made me cringe in pain. Still unable to move one hand, I could only cover one ear. With wide eyes I turned forward once more and came face to face with a massive three-headed creature made from the very roots of the tree beyond it. It turned a human-like face toward me, and I was overwhelmed with fear. But it wasn't just because it noticed me, something felt horribly familiar with it as well when a pair of yellow eyes fixed on me. My breath came short and I couldn't bring myself to move, trapped in its gaze.

Then its mouth fell open, and it emitted a voice that sounded on the precipice of insanity. I see you... It resounded within my skull, making it throbs horribly. You killed me... and I want revenge! As it finished, water began pouring from its gaping maw, creating a waterfall given its size. Then liquid began falling from the other two heads. Released from my stupor, I hurriedly moved back, tripping over an exposed root. Before I could get back to my feet, the flood was on me, and I was thrown into the abyss once more.

Please, don't leave me...!

-----

Burning pain in my head, like an open wound almost, but deeper. A prodding sensation at the farthest spaces of my mind. I felt like I couldn't breathe. What was happening?

[...adow...]

A warm touch, at the side of my neck that made me aware of my own pulse throbbing through me. "...just a kid." Female, young... maybe mid teens? Muttered under her breath. Other people talking, but I couldn't make them out until a shout from a male, "Does that look like it's over to you?!"

[...you hear me?]

I must have faded again because I was suddenly jostled and...lifted? But I still felt weak. Why was beyond me. I didn't feel any pain, but, then, I didn't feel much of anything. "...strong enough to handle him..." A different male, younger than the first, his voice laced with pain perhaps despite attempting to hide it. The sensation of moving made me feel ill, and I retreated to unconsciousness once more.

[Wake up!]

The smell of cleaning chemicals bombarded my nose trying to cover up the scent of blood and disease that bled into the mouth until I could taste it. Murmuring, but I couldn't make out the words without focusing, and I didn't have the mental capacity to do so. I jolted, my eyes snapping opening to a bright white room, that immediately made me flinch. I sat up, far too quickly, and my vision swam. Trying to catch myself, I nearly fell off the bed when my right arm didn't cooperate. Instead, I grabbed at the left side of the bed, clinging to it tightly as I levered myself upright once more and placed a hand against my head while it stopped throbbing.

That's when I saw why my right arm hadn't worked when I tried to brace myself. Because it simply wasn't there. In it's place, limp at my side, was an arm made of metal and wood. It connected to my arm just above the elbow. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't move the fingers. But... when...?

The whispering halted and I realized I wasn't alone. Looking up slowly, eyes wide in confusion, I found two woman who watched me worriedly, as well as a green-haired girl standing at the foot of the bed. Gaze drifting slowly around the room, I realized another girl lay on a bed to my side. I turned back to the women staring at me my breathing slowly picking up as I fought off panic. "W-where am I?" They were the first words that came to mind.

One of them approached me and I couldn't stop myself from flinching. Her hand stopped half way to me when she saw. "It's alright, Shadow. You're at the hospital."

Hospital? Why was I there?

Was my name Shadow?

I started trembling against my will, taking long, shuttering breaths as I tried not to hyperventilate. But it wasn't helping. The woman glanced over her shoulder to the other, who brought some sort of needle. That was enough to put me into full panic, and I half scrambled, half fell off the opposite side of the bed. "What the hell is going on...?" I hissed from a partially crouched position, the motion making me feel queasy again.

Again the women halted, deciding to take a different course of action on me, I suppose. They held up their hands in surrender, and one of them spoke. "Do you remember what month it is? Or what village you're in?" I stared blankly back at her. Village? I...I...

[Shadow, please calm down.]

My gaze snapped to the green-haired girl, wondering if she'd spoken. The voice was high, but more masculine than I could place on her.

[I'll explain, but I need you to calm down.]

Slowly, cautiously, I sat down, still shivering but I forced myself to be as reasonable as I possibly could, given my complete lack of memory. Or... at least I assumed that was the case? After all these people knew my name, including the apparent voice in my head.
