Stormed out of one area and kicked out of another. A real winning streak. Her body slumped, sank into the couch and she kept her eyes focused primarily on the wall in front of her.
"M'sorry," she rescinded, "I had a fight with a friend an' m'takin' it out on you. S'not fair t'be a b***h for no reason." She didn't make any move to get up from the couch.

Folding his arms over his chest, he stared down at Chel in silence. Fingers tapped against his bicep, and he remained there, just sort of looming for several moments. Shun never said anything either. He just waited and watched. There was no visible indication in his expression or body language to suggest that he forgave her or didn't forgive her for that matter. Whether or not he still wanted her to leave.
It was as if he was waiting to see what she would say or do from there.

There were two things Chel hated this most:
1) feeling helpless
2) silence.
There was a pause before the glass touched the living room table one more time. "C'mon don't give me the silent treatment." She still had yet to look at him, face set in something stony and entirely un-Chel-like. It wasn't an expression she wore often because of her usual smile. In fact it was something more akin to what Shun wore; only Chel's was rooted in an anger with no real direction.
She made a short decision. Be herself, or be liked. She finally turned to look at him with a softened expression. "Tell me about the magic place. I'll stop bein' a b***h." The latter always won.

Shun wasn't really phased by the glare that Chel had given him. It really only resulted in a staredown between the two of them. But it was already given that she was fairly pissed right now. He didn't really understand the reasoning, other than she apparently had a bad day, but that didn't matter much.
"I do not think you really wish to know. It is not as though I have that much knowledge on the subject matter anyway. And I could not care less if you are being a b***h or not. You are annoying either way," he stated calmly before glancing over towards the door, "Come back when you truly want to learn more. Or stay in your bubble and try forget about it."
Even if she had somewhat conceded just a moment ago, he didn't really want to deal with another potential emotional explosion, lest he lose his own self control out of frustration.

"I do too want to ********' know," she said, resolve not diminishing under his glare, even with the comments. "The more I know about it the better I can protect myself from this s**t. An' I'm gonna need t'know about it f'I'm gonna have a chance at reversin' it."
Chel did actually have thoughts a mile a minute, she just normally kept them under wraps so as to not harsh anyone's mellow. Right now Shun's mellow was more than harshed and so was hers. So why not let it fly around?
"So ******** you and take me off this couch with yer two hands f'yer really gonna be such a ********' d**k about it like you always ********' are!"

"You know. One easy of way of not dealing with me being a d**k is staying the ******** away from me," Shun noted. And such, he began to approach the couch, "I know only people who dream of it can enter it. So what are you going to do? Never sleep again in hopes those dreams never come?"
That was a stupid idea.
"The other side is where the magic is. The s**t is not supposed to be here, but it is anyway. And that is why we are having this problem. Thing is, a part of the problem is inside of that other realm. As far as I know, the only way to fix it is to get deeper into this s**t."
Hands reached out to try and grab Chel by the collar, in an attempt to drag her up to her feet and off of the couch.
"Or I suppose you could run. I do not know if places outside of Ashdown have these issues."

"I already don't sleep so problem' ********' solved," she retorted, digging her hands into the cushions of the couch like it would hold her at bay. Even when she was mad she told jokes. She didn't know how not to joke.
She let him take her collar. She wasn't a fighter. But maybe now Shun could see the little drops of water forming in the corner of her eyes. Not quite tears, but a reaction to stress.
"I've been tryin' to run for 7 ********' years don't tell me about leavin' like I can just ******** off when I want." Now problems were mixing together. One wasn't related to the other, but it was. "What f'you go deeper and don't come back Shun? Huh?"

Since he had a hold of her, Shun started to try and force her to her feet, determined to get her out of his apartment. He saw the bits of water forming by her eyes, but that didn't stop him.
"Then I guess you get stuck along with the rest of the people who are dealing with this. Maybe there still is a way out, ******** if I know. But let me get this straight. You do not want to run. You are unwilling to try and adapt. And yet you want to fix this. I doubt keeping things at arms length is going to do much good, and neither will ignoring the problem."
He gritted his teeth, clenching his fists tighter. She seemed to be awfully stubborn about this. But quite frankly, he was as well. The detective certainly didn't like the whole ordeal with magic being a real thing, but he wasn't about to sit around covering his ears, pretending like it doesn't exist.
"So what the ******** do you really want? Knowing how to handle something does jack s**t if you are unwilling to actually do anything."

Chel's fingers went limp, as with the rest of her body. She got to her feet just fine and her hands pushed against his body to make him relent. Between her hands and the slight choking sensation she couldn't think, couldn't respond.
Without meaning to, one of the hands pressed against his side where the wound was. It wasn't an intentional target but one that happened out of how panicked she was for the whole situation. She remembered watching this from her room a lot of nights.
I woulda fought, she always tells Chris, Punched him right in his ********' mouth and told the cops or some s**t. Now she understands a little bit why her mom didn't fight back. And the only cop she knew had two hands balled in her shirt.

Had Chel actually struck him there, he would have let go on the spot. But that wasn't quite the case. Still, the pressure against the wound was enough for his grip to weaken, probably enough for her to break free without too much trouble. Shun hissed in pain through his teeth, taking a step back. He wasn't exactly trying to hurt her. Not really. Fists would be flying otherwise. But Chel had outstayed her welcome by far, and he just wanted her out of his apartment. He was seriously considering just trying to hoist her over his shoulder to carry her out that way if he really had to.

"Let me go," she whined, "Yer-"
One more shove and Chel broke free of his grasp. She wasn't really sure what to say, just kind of stood there stunned for a moment, staring at him with the look of a feral animal in her eyes. Not rabid; scared.
"Are you okay?" She'd heard the hiss. "I-I didn't mean to-"

With that shove, another spike of pain flared up his side. When Chel broke free, he made no immediate move to try and grab her again. He instead took another step back and closed his eyes, waiting for the sensation to ebb out. His body was still visibly tense.
"Get. Out." he uttered lowly as he slowly opened his eyes.

Chel often needed to be told twice and now was the second time. She backed up a few steps just out of a fog (where was the door even??) but then knowledge kicked in and she scrambled herself towards the door. The doorknob jiggled for a while as her hands were barely able to get it open.
Even after the door was shut, Shun would probably hear her stumbling along the balcony home.

Shun watched as Chel made her retreat, suspecting he wouldn't see her again any time soon except maybe in passing. Once she was gone and the door shut behind her, he exhaled slowly while practically flopping down onto the couch. He almost felt like he needed a drink after that. Almost. He knew better than to actually do that, not that he had any alcohol in the fridge here anyway.
And so instead, he just closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind. A task easier said than done when he was still rather livid. But he needed to calm himself down one way or another.
