The little Jack Frost on stage cheered brightly and the gathered crowd of devils all leaped up and cheered rapturously as the legendary trivia master Johnny Preta laid waste to the poor, pathetic human summoner that had dared to challenge his 80s Hair Band knowledge before an audience of his peers. High Pixie was practically swooning in the back over the 'amazingly manly' display put on by the Preta, and many of the other devils were asking for autographs, shaking his hand, and otherwise trying to be acknowledged by the unquestioned master of the trivia game in their presence. And on the other side of the room...the challenger looked defeated, beaten, leaning back in his chair as though he had just been hit by a freight train...of knowledge!
"I admit it...you certainly bested me, devil," he admitted as he slumped out of his chair, standing suddenly and pointing his finger with great pride, "BUT! Tomorrow, I shall challenge you a second time! And this time...I will not fail to emerge victorious!"
Nearby, a boy in a rather standout hat shook his head; somehow he had been roped into being a lifeline for the orchid-haired young man, but not even their combined efforts had come close to doing the trick against a true master of his craft.
Some people never learned, he thought. But his earnest attitude did make it hard to hate him...

There was a certain point the night before where everything just went dark for the self-proclaimed Great Summoner Jakken Kuzunoha, and it was some time after he noticed his Preta sprawled out lazily over the side of the stage with two demon ladies splayed out on either side of him, a Crow perched on the bar somehow pouring everyone drinks with just its beak, and the outside of the front door to the darkened (no light at nighttime) establishment being pounded on as though some devil zombie wanted to burst in and eat every last person in the room. But if he was honest, he was just really really tired right about then, and he didn't have the time nor the inclination after his failure at trivia to go out and fight some fiend that was knocking down his door just to get a piece of him. If he could have sent good old Johnny Preta outside to deal with it on his own, he probably would have let him...doubly if he thought it was a fight that the cocky little bugger couldn't handle...but the way things were going, the Preta would probably just come back in with the enemy's ear and a new girlfriend or something. No, that wouldn't do...a victory via a proxy demon wouldn't be a victory that satisfied him, anyway.
In order to be satisfied with the encounter, with what had conspired between them, he needed to beat him in the only way that would bring any sense of accomplishment and justice in the world, period! He needed to beat Johnny Preta...in 80s Pop Culture Trivia.
...And little did the Preta know, but he had been studying! Rolling Stone Magazines in the back of the bar dated as far back as 1981! The perfect resource for what he needed to know! Did the Preta know what brand of cologne Don Henley wore? Could he tell you exactly how many pieces of furniture were in Pee-Wee's Playhouse?
"Not bloody likely!" he smirked out loud, earning the stare of his Babd Catha...watching him, judging...as if to tell him he didn't have a chance in Hell. "DON'T MOCK ME, CROW!"
...
And still in his booth, trying to get some sleep, a voice called out in response and annoyance.
"Shut up and get some sleep, you idiot!"
...Nito looked in the direction of the booth where the boy's feet were sticking out and smiled.

Sleep hadn't happened, despite what the be-hatted young man had pleaded with him to do, so the self-proclaimed Great Summoner had gotten up early and gone outside to begin cramming in some practice. Against the devils that were overrunning the streets, you say? Not at all! Of course, he was fighting them...wiping out several weaker devils and one or two strong ones, even as he did...but no, what he was trying to practice at was the 80s Trivia that he had already planning his rematch on later in the day with the legendary Johnny Preta! In one hand he wielded his phone and let his Nue body some punks that got a little too close, and in his other he kept the magazine that he had found in the back office flipped open, reading through the articles at a lightning pace in order to absorb enough information to finally be able to take that smug lesser demon down! ...And where was said lesser demon, you asked? He was still lounging on the stage back in the Yellow Dragon asleep with his devil girl companions surrounding him, having declined to come out and assist his summoner with the battles required to even keep the club safe! What a cheeky little b*****d, he was!
"All the same, once I put him in his place...I'll have him admit his defeat and then fuse him away into a bloody Baihu!" Nito smirked as he casually roundhouse kicked a gekko-looking devil, holding it at full-leg extension over his head for a moment before letting it drop to the ground and disperse into magatsuhi, "Oh yes...you wait, Johnny Preta! I'm coming for you...and heck's coming with me!"
Even as Kisa began to move out again, a loud noise came down from on high... and she simply poured power into a barrier that she raised in front of her. The pounding waves of destruction hit it and shattered, unable to penetrate the defensive field, and Kisa simply scowled at the Trumpeter's fleeing figure as he headed off to go cause trouble somewhere else.

For the moment, though, there weren't a great many demons left to fight, and she took a drink from the Harlot's chalice (...was that a good idea?) before continuing on, fully intending to finish clearing out this area as soon as she could. It DID seem fairly quiet at the moment, and that was usually a good sign...

She pummeled another demon a few moments later, and a weak-looking earth elemental darted out to come join her, apparently quite happy to be on the winning side. Or what she hoped was the winning side, anyway. More relevantly, it was probably time to fill out her force a bit more, and she promptly headed over to access the Cathedral of Shadows... and got some surprising new allies.

A storm of flies came in at Kisa a moment later, and swarmed over her body - but as it collapsed, the fake doll that had been substituted in her place was revealed, and the demons with her bombarded the attacking flies and wiped them from existence. So this was how Beelzebub fought, was it? This... was going to be a long day, wasn't it? Sigh. Well, not much she could do about THAT.

He had been rather distracted. That much was evidenced by the fact that when he finally took a moment to really close his magazine and look at the gathered devils around him, they had multiplied from a couple easily-dealt with monsters into a rather sizable horde that was closing in on him with a mixture of low-level devils and higher-level commanders, almost as though they were organizing this assault on him as an attempt to remove him from this particular area. Were they...trying to jump line in order to get a shot at Johnny Preta before he had his rematch?! He leaped away from a part of devils closing in on him so fast that the two crashed into one another and dispersed a moment later into magatsuhi. Landing smoothly on top of a car, he began to spin and lash kicks to the face of devils that tried to clamor on top of it and reach out for him, summoning his club's Bouncer Nue to crash down on one side of the car and his new club Manager Kushinada to unleash a wide splash of ice magic on the other, sending the crowd of devils that gathered flying in every direction. But he wasn't done...
...Leaping high into the air, he swung across a dead powerline and landed on top of a building nearby, where the demon horde's commander was giving his orders, and facing him down, one-on-one, Nito felt the power of a devil fill him...his eyes flashing as he smiled ominously at his enemy, flexing his fist purposefully.
"No jumping line now. The person who has dibs on the next match with that Preta...is me!"
