"Yeah uh, really." Shiloh maybe grinned a little to himself, but it was quickly masked when he shoved the rest of his sandwich into his mouth. "Seriously, like... whenever..." it was his way of saying he would want Jamie to message him without being too overt.
"A-Anytime. Like, I'm usually awake... or if I'm not, like, I'll prolly wake up..." he was licking the crumbs off of his fingers like an animal. "But... it sorta takes me a while to respond so uh." he paused and shifted his weight around, one leg crossed up on the other, "Don't take that personally."
Another pause.
"Also, you should prolly keep your phone locked up." Shiloh had a password on his iPod anyway, and he really didn't have anything to hide, but... he liked that sense of security. It seemed weird that Jamie would keep everything open like that.
But he supposed it wasn't his place. It was just his way of redirecting the conversation around.

If the smile that wouldn't go away was any indication, Jamie didn't mind that Shiloh seemed adamant about assuring him he was available. In fact, it was a relief, because Jamie was always nervous and if Shiloh came off as this sure it was okay to text him, it made it feel like it really was. Otherwise, there likely would've been an internal struggle between should I or shouldn't I. Jamie didn't want to be a bother. Now he was starting to feel like he wouldn't be.
"Okay, but I'll try not to text you too late, though..." he said, still playing with the phone in his hands. "I don't, um, really mind how long it takes, either." Jamie could be patient in this kind of situation. Being able to keep in touch with Shiloh would be worth the wait.
"Oh, um, you think so? I've just... never locked it befo-"
BRRRRRRRRNNNNNGGGGGGGG
"A-Ah-" Jamie had noticeably jumped when the bell rang. Time got totally away from him, he'd been far too engrossed in his conversation with Shiloh. "Oh... I can't believe lunch is already over... It doesn't feel like it's been that long..." Looking a little down at that, he definitely didn't make a move to get going right away.

"Pfff. Don't you remember last night? We stayed out 'till like, three in the morning." he joked, shaken from his solemn attitude now that everything was solidly redirected. Time didn't have much meaning honestly.
"Trust me. I'd be up."
The lunch bell made Shiloh jump (though perhaps not as noticeably) as it had Jamie, but he also wasn't making much of a rush to get up. Instead he looked at the empty bag in his lap, and then the contents in Jamie's lap, and then at the window and the beautiful, glorious freedom of the outside realm.
"Hey." he pursed his lips into a fine line, obviously thinking. All at once, the expression dissolved, a conclusion being met. "Wanna skip?"

"Oh yeaaaah..." It's not like staying up that late had been a new experience for Jamie over the past few weeks, but it was still strange to think other people stayed up, too. Maybe it wasn't a choice for Shiloh, either. "Well... okay. If you say so." Didn't mean he wouldn't feel bad if he accidentally woke him up, though.
Puffing out his cheeks for a very short moment, Jamie set to putting away his things. He was in the middle of shoving his lunch box back into his backpack when Shiloh suggested they play delinquents and skip.
Jamie's eyes were huge.
"I... um..." There were multiple reasons he didn't want to say no. He was tired and could use the break and Shiloh was fun to talk to and he didn't want to disappoint him. There were multiple reasons he didn't want to say yes, too, but they all centered around inevitably getting in trouble with his parents. A good kid who never, ever skipped, Jamie was nervous.
"S-S-Sure..." Nervous, but not quite ready to say no.

Nervous, and very much obviously wanting to say no, or at least that was how Shiloh perceived it. "You've never skipped before in your life, have you."
Not a question, but a statement, because Shiloh didn't need his input to know the answer. All at once, he busted out into a rancorous laugh, looking genuinely amused and... maybe even a little happy. Jamie was a riot—it was hard to believe goody-goodies like him even existed still. Not that he was knocking it; quite the contrary, actually. It was hard to find people like that now a days anymore. It made Shiloh feel a little... protective, in a weird way.
Alas, it looked like their skipping adventure would have to wait for a day where Jamie felt a little more courageous. He was pretty sure that if they did skip then Jamie would get over it, but not without a lot of coaxing. They could have their fun some other time.
As it was, he patted his friend on the back. "You're shaking like a leaf." Shiloh stood up after that, offering a hand down to Jamie. "You can say no y'know." his stupid grim blossomed over his face again, "Promise. I don't bite that hard."

It was kind of embarrassing to admit that the answer was no, he never had, but from the way Shiloh reacted Jamie was pretty sure he didn't need the answer anyway. "N-Not even once..." he said with a small frown, setting his chin on his hand with a huff. "I-I just... know I'd get caught." Truth was, Jamie was awful at lying. "A-And aaaanyway, I'm not shaking."
Grabbing Shiloh's hand and actually looking indignant instead of anxious for once, Jamie let himself be helped up. "I just, i-it's just..." There was no way he could know what Shiloh was thinking, but their thought processes weren't all that different. "... I gotta prepare myself. S-So, uh, maybe next time... Yeah?"
Hard to resist would've been an understatement when it came to the urge to smile back at that mile-wide grin. So he did, and looked kinda bashful, but pretty damn genuine.

"Prepare yourself huh? Alright. We'll bring more snacks next time." he paused, and because it was just so easy to get Jamie flustered, he added "We'll make a date out of it."
Nothing actually intended there, of course.
"Anyway, c'mon before we're late. God knows you'd probably turn yourself in if you got a tardy slip."

"Y-Yeah... you better bring two packs of teddy grahams next time." Jamie was trying hard to keep up with the joking, because he was awkward and not all that used to being silly, but hey, if he could act out animals in front of Shiloh, he could surely keep up with a little joshing. "I-I-It'll be the best date you've ever had, so I hope... you're ready." Okay, maybe he was a bit red after that, but he was trying.
After throwing his backpack on, Jamie crossed his arms. "I-I'm not that much of a goody-goody, okay?" That didn't stop him from quickly starting up the stairs, though, obviously not wanting to wind up late.

"Oh really?" s**t, now he was laughing as he tailed him up the steps, trying to shove his lunch bag back into his backpack (because, despite it being paper, he knew Jamie "not that much of a goody-goody" Delacroix would have an issue if he lobbed it on the ground. "Damn. Must make me one lucky guy then huh?"
"Or maybe you're the lucky one, huh Lucky?" it was playful jest at best, but he was enjoying himself.
It all ended a little too soon though, because they reached the top and he was sure they'd have to part.
"See ya." he threw a wave and was off down the hallway.

With a stupidly earnest look on his face that spread straight to his voice when he spoke, Jamie responded, "I... feel kinda lucky, yeah." It was straight back to bashful after that, though.
"See you later, Shiloh. O-Oh and, um... I'll text you later!"
Jamie watched him go, but only for a few seconds before walking off in the other direction. Better not be late, after all.
