Chel had been squinting at the wine list and looked up as he followed with a question. Wow. Shun initiating conversation.
"Oh. Uh. Just seems kinda sad. Livin' on some beach cliffs, people makin' fun of you 'cause yer psychic." At least, Chel assumed made fun of the psychic. "'Bout t'be investigated by the police. Just seems kinda sucky."

"Do not mistake loneliness for solitude. She could have easily made the choice to live out there on her own," he stated with narrowed eyes. And if she wanted to have that whole mystical medium facade, that was all on her too as far as he was concerned.
"The disappearances happened months ago. No doubt she had already been questioned."

She opened her mouth to say that a lot of people disguised loneliness as solitude, but she recalled a similar thing Jack had said to her. These two were probably trying to drop her a hint.
Her mouth closed.
Then opened again, with a different subject. "Questioned don't mean she told the truth though."

He really felt no need to fill her in on what his plans were on the matter. A part of that was he wasn't even really certain if he had a plan currently. The case was considered cold right now. Shun supposed he could drop by some time in the near future on a day off just to see what it was all about. But he didn't have a particularly large need to be looking into this right now. Not much beyond personal curiosity in any case.

But after that she looked back down to the wine list and gave it a squint. "M'glad this place does the big blocky letters and not some cursive a** bullshit. I can't read cursive good at all."

But then their food came and Chel had a mouthful of food to dwell on instead.

Shun hoped Chel didn't talk with her mouth full. Once the food came, he went on and focused his attention on that, happily falling silent in the meantime. The food here wasn't bad. Nothing particularly special either, however. A solid 'okay'.
While he ate, his mind shifted to thoughts about current cases that he actually did have on his plate. None of them were particularly major. There was a breaking and entering one he needed to look into once he went back to work.

And surprisingly Chel was pretty quiet too. She reached over for the ketchup to add to her fries and then wolfed into the sandwich. Not a pretty eater by any means but not one that was going to cause Shun trouble. She wasn't always horrible.
While Shun thought about his cases, Chel pulled out her phone to text a few people. It was, all things considered, a fairly basic lunch.

Shun was relieved to have this time of silence. He pretty much ignored the fact that Chel was sitting across from him while he kept to his own thoughts. While he brainstormed on a few things, he made a few mental notes to double check on a couple of things once he had the chance. The detective did have a copy of the files on his personal computer at home, so he could look into it then.
Eventually, he finished up his meal, leaving nothing behind on his plate.

Shaking his head at Chel, Shun muttered, "I was just enjoying the quiet. For once. But now that silence has been broken again."
After a pause, he asked, "Are you satisfied, now?"

"I give you a lotta silences y'know." A lot of talk too, but she'd given him silence when asked and where needed.
"Satisfied with what? The sandwich? Yeah it was good!"
