The Enemy creates the cycles. The moons circle 'round the planet and he changes as they command Pax seems agitated, wintergreen eyes moving much more jerkily than on Autumn's first visit. He will be free when the Enemy is free He is no agent He is no monster I meant only that The salve It hurts him

"I don't understand. Explain it again, I don't understand," Autumn said, pulling herself closer to Lucas. Half of it was a desperate effort to protect him, to do something for him. Half was her own fear, overwhelming her, driving her to the brink of despair.
If this were Madoka, this would be the part Autumn became a witch.
"What- what can I do? What am I supposed to do?! I have to save him!""

It took him a while, but he managed to get to his feet, shaking, cold and wet. Lucas reached for her, but only to take her hand, trying not to drip on her. "Princess, it's saying you can't save me. It's not up to you." He was finally catching his breath, trying to right himself fully, squinting at Pax. "You -- will keep her safe, wont you? I don't care against who. Herself. Me. Keep her safe." Facing Autumn, he squeezed her hand. "I told you. We don't -- know what side is right. I choose life, Autumn. I choose -- seeing you live, for a chance to be happy, than to die for a cause you've only been told cliff notes versions of." He smiled, but it was tired and worn, his eyes lined with memories of pain. "And if I'm -- ever between you and your freedom? You kick me in the balls. Because you're my friend. Not because there's a side to choose."

He is right Pax offers this up without a trace of guile--with a relaxation of its six eyes, which settle back onto its body--and it dips its head low. In its long black antlers are bunches of flowers. You should return He should not be here It will force the change before he is ready

"...Take me home. Get him home safe," Autumn says, strangely flat compared to the venom and hurt and anger before. She looks at Pax, with... nothing.
"I'm. I'm done."shibrogane you're gonna have to nope Autumn out of here, cause she's shut down

Lucas squeezed her hand, feeling his chest clench. They'd just found each other again -- he didn't want to lose her. Not like this. Not over this.Looking to Pax, still feeling his stomach feel unsettled by the sight of it, he nodded slightly to the deer. "I'm sorry, for being an a** -- before. And, ah. Thanks for the salve thing." He shook out his prosthetic hand. "I think." He was tired. He wanted to go home, grab his dates and hibernate for a year between them.

Pax dips its head again. It gestures with one of its many arms, pulling the world around Lucas and Autumn to reveal--her living room--as if they'd never left.

"...I'm sorry. For everything. You were right, after all." Autumn said, standing up near-lifelessly. She did not look over to him as she left the living room, shuffling to the bedroom. The door shut behind her, and locked with an audible 'click.'
Lucas would have to see himself out. It was just another one of her grand ********, after all. She wasn't a hero. She wasn't a princess. She wasn't anything at all.
She was worthless.

"Princess," he murmured, watching her go. He stood in place for several minutes, his brows drawn, staring down at the floor. It would be ten minutes before he'd go to her door, and gently rap his knuckles against it. "Princess, I still...I still want to talk to you. So much has happened, and I've missed you, I've missed you so damn much. This isn't the end. I'm still your friend and I always will be, even if you wont let me." He smiled a little, sad, disheartened. Lucas gently tapped his fingertips against the door before shifting away. "Call me, please? When you feel you can." A pause. "I'm glad you're back." And against his better judgment, he left Autumn's apartment, once again at odds.
