Alexis follows the main moving group, because of course they do, they're not going to stay solo for any longer than they have to -- but the taxidermied animals, those catch their interest like nothing else. Alexis darts ahead to check those out, fingers hesitantly reaching to touch (but avoiding the mouth, if need be). If keys are hidden, the flesh is always a good spot. Call it stereotypical, but Alexis knows how to see a proper horror along.

Doors or taxidermy. That was the choice and Thorne couldn't say he liked it. His spine crawled with terror, a new type of iciness slipping like poison inside of his veins. "I don't know what I expected," he said slowly, "but that, above all else, was not it." Still. He had to find a key somewhere, and chances were that maybe - maybe something was down here that might at least give them a clue. He glanced at the room, taking a few steps towards the taxidermy less out of want and more in an effort to say he'd given it a once over. And then he rounded when the creepy factor of dead, staring eyes got too much for him to handle and said, "doors. Doors over dead animals." And walked straight to the door on the right and jostled the handle. He would search every nook and cranny of whatever laid behind this before he went any closer to the taxidermy. His passion in art was nature - and something about the taxidermy was terrible and wrong. And he couldn't stomach it when he was already trying to stomach everything else. endejester sorry for the rush of posting, i have to go to bed and i dont want to leave anyone hanging down here with thorne in limbo while i snooze ;;;;

Jeremiah did not jump - he never jumped - when the book fell with a thump. He did see that the portrait's gaze had shifted and he let out a breath. "I swear, Alg, the level of Harry Potter bullshite that goes on ..." He knew the other would catch the fact that the portraits eyes had moved and moving portraits was ... Whatever. He went over and picked up the book that fell and came over to the other man to open it up. "The Language of Flowers ..." he let out a huff. "I think mother owns a copy of this."

"It certainly looks like a greenhouse," Asiya said, leaning in to peer at the glass more up close. After examining the glass, she then leaned back and frowned some. There didn't appear to be a door to the greenhouse on the side that they were on. "The door is probably on the other side. We can go try and find it, or perhaps go through one of the other doors. Either way, I leave it up to you."
Temperance seemed like the type to enjoy flowers and cute things. Asiya, too, enjoyed nature, so stopping at the greenhouse didn't seem like a bad idea. Yet then again, she was perfectly fine with exploring any aspect of the house. She just wanted to find more clues as to how to get Autumn back. That was the most important thing.

"Do we... do we each want to try a door?" His eyes were drawn to those glass eyes, staring glass eyes like maybe he could find meaning in them, he couldn't, not for sure but , doors, doors held a certain logic. Like crystal coffins for snow white. THat... that seemed to ring true. He reached for the door on the Right.

When Thorne touches the door, ALL PRESENT IN THE BASEMENT are struck with AN OVERWHELMING SENSE OF NAUSEA. It is enough to drop them to their knees, make their stomachs turn. But they also realize- this is where they're meant to be. Behind this door is whatever they're meant to face.((OOC WARNING: BEHIND THIS DOOR IS A PLOT ELEMENT THAT WILL CHANGE THE POTENTIAL OUTCOME OF THE EVENT. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO ENTER WITH LESS THAN THREE PLAYERS. FAILURE TO HAVE A TEAM PREPARED FOR WHAT FOLLOWS COULD RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM THE GAME.
WHEN THE TEAM IS READY, THEY MAY HEAD HERE TO PROCEED.))

"Did you know, Asiya," she said conversationally, moving around to the other side of the greenhouse. "-that some people make jewelry out of succulents? I think... if it's alright... I want to go inside." It was strange, of course, for it to be inside with no sunlight. Maybe it operated on sun lamps instead. Temperance had a black thumb when it came to gardening, but she still thought plants were cute as long as she wasn't in charge of them. Her thin fingers caught on something that might be a latch and she fumbled with it, then pushed.

Algie did jump because he almost always jumped, though his fist curled up in defensive instinct. Unfortunately there wasn't anything to punch yet. Instead he picked the book up and ran his broad fingers lightly over the cover. "You know a bit of this, don't you?" With no one around he was freer with touching the other, leaning closer to Jeremiah and nudging him, "One of those secret hobbies of yours?" Cooking, Flowers and learning nicknames in foreign languages. "Let's see what it's telling us." He opened the book for perusal.

The door swings open easily under Temperance's push, and she and Asiya find themselves in THE GREENHOUSE. The second story of it, anyway. On the floor below- as this apparently does stretch two floors- they can make out the base of three trees, wound together in a triad, their leaves nearly brushing the top of the glass.
Along the upper walkway, there is a wide variety of different flowers growing out of potted plants. Unless one has an excellent knowledge of flowers, the species may be lost on them. Nonetheless, it is stunningly beautiful and peaceful.

Asiya brightened up at the mention of succulent jewelry. She had always been interested in getting some of her own, but she had yet to do so. Maybe, after everything was said and done in Other Ashdown, she could look into it. "I knoooow," she exclaimed with a hint of excitement. "I think I'll try and get some once we get back to the regular world."
When Temperance opened the door, Asiya allowed herself to step inside. She blinked, taking all of the sights in. The trees were very interesting, but it was the flowers that really caught her attention. It was too bad she didn't know more about flowers in general. Knowledge of such things would have been useful there. "Do you think there is a way down," she asked, her eyes scanning for a potential way to get to the first level of the greenhouse. "It'd be nice to explore the whole place, you know?"

The book in Algie's hand tells him a lot about flowers. There's roses, peonies, snapdragons, pansies, all sorts of flower varieties. Seemingly every kind, if they inspect the book for long enough. They have symbolisms of the plants, flower language... and even pictures of the flowers! How very convenient.

For a moment, Jeremiah's pinky was briefly linked with Algie's before the man opened up the book. There was no vision, no scene, nothing. It was just a book about the language of flowers. Every kind. "... suppose this could be useful later on," he snorted. "Bring it with us?" Jeremiah gave one more passing look around the room, trying to discern if there was anything that he could see but ... "Time to move on, Alg?" If the other had the same feeling that this place would likely just offer them a safe haven but not a way out of the house or to Autumn.

"I wonder if plants can come back to Ashdown," Temperance said and stroked a particularly vibrant flower's petals. "I can't grow plants to save my life, sadly." She wandered along the walkway, staring into the lush foliage.
Her foot kicked into something and she stooped. "Asiya - I think I found a ladder, maybe." It might have been a ladder or just chains hanging of the walkway or something. "We might be able to get down this way - or by swandiving off into the plants."

It was, unfortunately, not a ladder. What it seemed to be was a rather large vine, draped over the walkway haphazardly. From Asiya and Temperance's viewpoint, there is no visible way down.
Darn.

Algie nodded, closing the book and keeping hold of it. He was carrying a bag but it would be a pain in the a** to rummage in it every time he wanted something, so he instead tucked it under his arm. "I think we're meant to..." The professor glanced around, "No other doors? I think it's back into the main hall then." He headed that way.
