Tom nodded silently in thanks. "I'll just take water please." He needed to get a bit more hydrated again. Although he had a water bottle for practice he hadn't had anything to drink since he left. Tom watched a bit worriedly as Alex got up to get the drink and almost tripping over Cadha. He poked his food a bit, hesitant to ask any questions, but knew he needed to do so. "All right. I guess I'm going to start with what the heck you were talking about when you said I was spouting drivel." He smiled a bit, finding it a little funny though he was sure that the other considered it more serious. "I'm going to assume it has something to do with those senshi. I'm guessing this... Negaverse is somehow fighting against them? And I'm also going to guess that they're considered the bad guys by the Negaverse." He still couldn't see it. Couldn't imagine that those people with the silly looking outfits and funny attacks who defeated monsters could be that bad.

Grabbing a bottle of cold water, he always had water in the fridge, he shut the door and returning to the table set the bottle down for the other. Reseating himself he settled back in his chair and picked up his fork to eat.
As the other started with his questions he tapped his bottom lip with his fork before settling it down. "I've heard you talk, today, about the terrorists. You know only a little - a scant bit about what is going on in this city and the sides involved. That's why I called it drivel. Your opinion is based on what you see and not what is really there. No one should talk about what they know so little about - and there is a reason for so little being known." Shrugging as he went for his fork again and took a bite of pasta and veggies. Taking a sip of his fruit juice he tilted his head. "You are correct but the senshi also have knights fighting on their side. There is a third side as well...Dark mirror senshi, they were once allies to the Negaverse but no more - though I am on good terms with a few members. There are senshi who serve the Negaverse - corrupted senshi. It is a complex war." As he'd said. it was nothing to spout out about unless you knew more about it, unless you understood it, at least that was his opinion.
"You are right also on who are the bad guys. They dislike us, have captured our members and tortured them. We have captured their members and done similar. They've done it twice we've done it once at least to my knowledge. It's been a game of tit for tat with neither side really making any advance, despite all the years this has been going on. Elsewhere, other countries and outside of this city, the Negaverse has won the war. So the war has been going on for a long time, longer then I've been in and longer than it's been going on here, beyond that this is...a rehashed war from over a thousand years ago." Shrugging he took another bite of his dinner, hoping the other would try and like the food.

Tom nodded in response, still poking at his food while he listened. So it was exactly what it sounded like, a war where neither side was looking good and were both resorting to torture the other. And the side that he had just joined seemed to be the one winning. Before his stomach could growl, he took a bite of the food. It was good and was better than he had had in a while. At least it was home-made.Tom got a little too lazy when it came to cooking for himself. But he didn't mind surviving on sandwiches either. He stole a glance at Katya before looking back at Alex. "All right then so it's a war that's going on and there hasn't been much publicity about it. Well, what exactly are all of these sides? What is the Negaverse, what is it about? And why do they, I assume sometimes, forcibly recruit people?" He gave a pointed look at Alex with the last question.

"The sides thus far, because given magic is a thing who knows what can happen - I've been turned into a cat." He said with a shrug of his shoulders while leaning back in his seat. "So far there is the Negaverse - our side. The Senshi and knights fall into the same group really. Knights have items and some magic...senshi only have magic. We have weapon. With us we have corrupted senshi, not a lot but we have them. The other side is the dark mirror senshi. They too serve chaos...but not the same as us." He answered and tilted his head back a bit.
"Some dark mirror I believe like the senshi and knights whilst others like us...and some prefer their side and that's it. It varies member to member in that camp and even on a person to person basis in some cases." They could be confusing. You didn't know who was safe and who wasn't with that group...but he liked a few of them so he didn't mind them.
"The senshi and knights...the senshi have to use a guardian cat to recruit a senshi. I believe it's just a simple cat gives them the item they need to power up and sometimes tell them things...sometimes not. They have children on their side - pre-teens. The knights have an item and I think they simply find it...so they recruit themselves in a sense. For us someone has to do as I did." So someone was always there - someone to take you in and train you. You weren't left alone, unless the person felt like being really cruel.
"The war - the original war...was a case of Romeo and Juliet gone deadly...not as simple as that but that's the simplified version. The moon princess fell in love with the prince of earth...princesses mother wanted to take over earth and rule through her daughter. People on earth said no and rose up to fight against this, they had no power. Many died...moon queen killed many more innocent people. The idea is to prevent it from happening again - to take out the senshi who want to find her, if she's been reborn, and to send them back to their planets where they were once born - because they are all reincarnated souls...just born here.

Tom continued to eat in silence while Alex explained what was going on, smiling a bit at the mention of Alex being turned into a cat, until he got to the part where he mentioned that children were fighting in the war too. He choked a bit on his food, hopefully not enough to interrupt the conversation so far and reached for his water to stop the reaction. He couldn't get it out of his head. They were using children? Really? That was one of the worst things you could do in a war. Children were too young to understand the situation and it could mess them up, badly. "Moon... Princess? So we're talking an alien invasion here?" He wondered if these senshi really looked like humans or like something else. At least that answered one of life's big questions of 'are we alone'. He pondered for a bit, wondering what his next question should be. "Okay, but then what did you do to me? I mean you touched something that seems it shouldn't be there, or at least it wouldn't show on any sort of medical scan." And it had hurt, badly. He shuddered a bit thinking about the pain again. Hopefully he would forget about it soon.

"Something like that. It seems that a thousand years ago the moon had a princess, queen, and a whole society. As did the other planets, in this system and beyond, as did stars and other various things. For some reason they've all fallen, around the same time as far as I'm aware, and the souls were reborn here as senshi, knights...and us. If we were to join the other side...we'd be knights. I would, if I were to purify, be a knight of some sort." He said waving a hand about as he spoke. His slate eyes on the other as he sat back in his seat, for now his dinner left on his plate.
Taking his own glass of juice to sip from. "The story, as I was told...almost five years back when I first joined, was that the Prince of Earth was promised to someone from here...that the moon and earth's kingdom's did not get along. The Prince here and the Princess there fell in love...and the Queen of the Moon sought to use that as a way to gain power here and have Earth's people bow down and serve to those of the Moon. Earth's populace rose against her...and started a war. " He said slowly as he tried to recall the story and all he'd heard over the years, he'd really been in this a long time. He was nearing five years...he'd been sixteen when he'd joined.
"The people of Earth stormed the palace here...expecting their Prince but instead the Moon's Queen greeted them and attacked them - slew many and turned others into youma - like what attacked you. Youma...were once people." He said pointing then to the others chest.
"What I touched was your starseed - or soul. I pushed my power, the chaos we use, into it and gave you power...made you a Negaverse officer. To make a youma...is to push too much energy into that - into a starseed and overwhelm it...it'll shatter and the person becomes a youma...no longer human and yet immortal. They wind up...tied to the person who made them...like a pet. They can talk, and perhaps mimic some human emotions...but they need energy and starseeds to survive. They cannot remain above ground for long..." His voice had changed, his tone of voice. There was something there - something big and emotional.
"When you are ready for promotion, to Captain, A General King, General Queen...or our Queen will give you the power - I cannot. I tired once...it is not something I can do. It's power I cannot control...I turned a friend - a Captain - into a youma." By accident, clearly, but he'd done it.
"That aside...the starseeds of those from the past, senshi and knights, have been reborn here...and not just this city but here on Earth. The war is over, we've won, everywhere but here. This city has more senshi and knights I assume, since we've been fighting at least five years - since I joined. There is no end, thus far, in sight. We're working to try and keep the people here safe from their influence...to keep the Moon's Queen or Princess from turning up again, if they were also reborn, and trying to continue what they started. As I said...Romeo and Juliet and a fight rehashed...an old war." He said shrugging once.
Placing his right elbow up onto the table top he let his chin rest in his hand, eyes focused on the other and waiting...watching. "You'll learn to fight, you'll need to, you don't have much of a weapon now but you will - in time and with rank. Until then we'll work on other things. I'm not going to send you out there for the other side to slaughter." No, he would keep his little makeshift team safe - he'd kill anyone who tried to harm them....he'd paint the world red with the blood of those who hurt his own.

Tom continued to listen to Alex while he slowly ate his food. He almost felt rude doing so, however it had been made for them to eat while they discussed and his stomach was silently rumbling with emptiness, so he continued to eat. He paused after Alex was through with his exposition of the history of the war and how it started and took a sip of water. So it was all the Moon Queen’s fault. He heard the rest of the explanation in silence, only speaking when he had mulled over what had been said.
He wondered though how the Queen could be the one considered evil when, as the rest of Alex’s speech explained, they seemed to be using the same power that the Moon Queen once wielded for turning people into Youma. “Do the senshi or knights have the same power to turn people into Youma?” He was glad that he hadn’t been turned into Youma, though perhaps making negaverse officers didn’t require as much chaos as it did when promotions were required. And what did he mean by above ground? “What do you mean by above ground? Where do these youma reside?”
He was glad for the warning about who to go to for promotions. He didn’t want to be turned into a youma himself. “I’m sorry about your friend.” He couldn’t really say anything else, and he wasn’t sure if the other would accept his sympathy, but he said it anyway.
The monster that they encountered before… it was a youma and it seemed that Alex’s words rang true. If youma were people, and the negaverse didn’t destroy them but the senshi and knights did, what did that mean exactly? Could youma-fication be reversed? Tom doubted it as it seemed that Alex had implied that they were stuck like that in a permanent state of being a monster. However, youma survived on energy and starseeds, which seemed to be inside people, so should youmas then be destroyed? He frowned at the thought of it. So far he understood all of what had been said, but it was making no sense to him.
He was surprised at hearing that the negaverse had won everywhere but Destiny City. He never noticed anything going back to San Francisco, so perhaps that meant that it was more of a silent takeover. “What is the negaverse’s plan in taking over? It seems kind of intimidating to have a secret organization being in charge of wherever you live.” He couldn’t help but wonder what would be done and was worried for his family.
He raised an eyebrow at the mention of a weapon. “I have a weapon?” He hadn’t seen anything of the sort. He wondered what it could be, though wasn’t terribly excited. He didn’t like fighting that much. Finally he asked, “So am I under your command now? I mean are you the one I would mainly report too? And what am I supposed to do?”

"I don't believe so, they may. They can't reach into a persons chest and take hold of their starseed. So likely not, however they may have some form of means to do so. It's not something done by us even, unless it's an accident. The youma we have are from back then..." He said trialing off for a moment in thought. "Turning an officer into one, or even a normal person, are not approved of things - punishments are given for such...and most wouldn't even think to do as I did." Which had been, as he'd said, an accident and not meant to happen. It hadn't been something he'd known about then, a mistake made by an uninformed General...a mistake he wished he could undo - had wished he could undo since it had happened.
"It's ok. Time has dulled the pain from it, I do wish I could undo it, change it, but I've found nothing on it. Perhaps one day I will." Shrugging a bit. "The youma reside in a place called the Rift, though they also occupy Negaspace and the citadel itself. They are...not underground per say but you could almost say they are. it's a different dimension of sorts. You'll find that science is broken when it comes to this war - due to magic. Faster healing, more physical strength, magic powers, items that vanish and reappear, talking cats, youma. Science doesn't apply to many things." Alexandre said smiling and even laughing softly. It took time to get used to just how broken science was in this war, and nothing should ever be assumed due to this. The idea that you read something is fact...does not mean it is. "Such as the case where I've been up to space...multiple times. Polaris - a star...is cold and covered in snow." Yet every scientist would say otherwise...he'd walked on Polaris though, he'd felt the snow under his foots, felt the cold bite of the air against his cheek and felt the cold burn of the air in his lungs. Science meant very little he found.
"So far, as far as I know, it's to remove the senshi and knights. To keep Earth free from them. Beyond that I'm unaware." That was a sort of lie. He had an idea but it had to have changed - right? He'd made friends on the other side as part of a plot to gain information, to find those who could slip him information whether knowingly or not, and he had done the same. At some point he had been sympathetic to them and their cause. He had worked to try and avoid some of what the future had shown him. He did want the Negaverse to win though - he always would. he just did not approve of the humans being energy cattle part. He was sure that would be avoided, that something else would happen. "Perhaps with us having won everywhere...once we win here their can be some steps taken to unify things - globally. It would make sense if we were to take a step toward that. As we are in contact with other branches and we all are on the same side - serve the same purpose." That was a goal he'd like to see them work toward, and perhaps it was. In the future things seemed to be universal which indicated such to him, so it wasn't a lie - not outright anyway.
"You do, though right now it isn't much of one. As you gain in rank so to do you gain in power and your weapon changes." Looking to Katya, who was polishing off her meal, he tilted his head. "Cover my signature Katya." It was good to have a guardian cat living with him, she could cover up his aura easily. Standing, after pushing his chair out, he stretched before powering up. "All you need do is focus on the weapon and it'll appear. You also, as you gain power, can summon it back to you if it's knocked out of your hands or taken away by someone else." He said before summoning his own spear. His weapon was certainly meant to stab but it was a ranged weapon, perhaps a good thign for someone as petite as he was.
"You are, unless you choose to work under another General - it's your choice. As for what you're to do it's simple. Gather energy and train, learn. I'm here to help you with all of that and anything else which may crop up." Such as now with answering the others questions. "I will go out with you and keep you safe while we work on lessons. That's my job." He answered before powering down and smiling at the cat. "Thank you Katya."Listening to the whole conversation Katya was content to sit there and eat her meal, licking at her lips, as she enjoyed the food her General had prepared. Alexandre was, as far as she could tell, doing his best to educate this new Lieutenant and help them along in accepting their position in this war and in this city. It certainly wasn't an easy thing, especially for some people, but it became easier in time though some did take to things a bit more like a duck to water she supposed.
As questions were asked and answered, and stories told, she finished her meal and took the time to clean herself up a bit. Licking at paws and lower front legs she worked at her ears as well before looking to Alexandre when he spoke, making his request of her. "Of course. Can't have you being sensed...someone might come and break the door down." She said and nodded after a moment. Nothing seemed different and yet his signature was well masked and hidden by her. When she was done showing off his weapon and had powered down her job was done.
"Of course, nothing to thank me for - I'm doing my job." She said snicking her little cat nose up in the air, ears flickering atop her head. "I do take my job seriously."

Tom had finally finished his food and listened to the answers of his questions in silence, with the occasional sip from his water. So it was most likely that their side was the only one who could take starseeds and energy. He pondered over the differences between these senshi and knights versus the negaverse and it still seemed as though the negaverse were perhaps… not the best side. And he couldn’t tell if they were on the side of humanity or not.
At least it seemed that someone wouldn’t randomly turn him into a youma unless it was an accident. That was one less thing to worry about. He was excited to learn about how logic and science seemed to work differently in this war though. He was curious to know if he could use that to his advantage in the medical field. Perhaps find some way to help someone heal faster or a better form of surgery, but that would have to be later. He was still in the middle of getting an undergraduate degree and was nowhere close to becoming an actual doctor yet.
And he was also fascinated by the fact that they didn’t seem to be alone in space, or at least there was evidence of others out there. Perhaps the magic that was used somehow managed to cloak what the planetary objects actually looked like.
Well, it made sense to keep them off of here, even though they were just reincarnations of past selves, if he was following all of this correctly. Though he was surprised there was such a holdout of them here within the city. That must mean they were quite powerful. He wanted to meet a few of them, hopefully not at the point to where he would get beat up by them though.
He was once again surprised at Alex’s transformation. Tom was still surprised that he could do it himself though he hadn’t tried as of yet. He stole a quick glance at Katya, fighting the urge to pet her. He would have to go home and visit his parents soon.
And it seemed he didn’t need to stay under the others wing, though he would for now until he thought he was informed enough to possibly move to someone else’s command. “But how can I focus on the weapon if I don’t know what it is? And I still don’t know what I’m supposed to do exactly as a…” Well he didn’t really know what rank he was at this point. What was the lowest rank for the negaverse and what were the others anyway? “Officer of the negaverse. I would assume fighting the senshi and knights, though I don’t know how as I’m not much of a fighter.” He had never gotten into any fight in his life before, or at least any seriously physical ones. “And I would definitely need training, though I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get it in that… getup that I’m in.”
One other thing suddenly occurred to him. “And what was it about a mineral name you said?”

Seated again he smiled gently and ran his fingers through his own ashen hair. "Just focus on wanting it, whatever it is, it'll come to you. To power up...just think of wanting it- of summoning it. it'll get easier to focus on, quicker...take less focus, as time goes on. It'll become second nature. Teleporting will become that easy also, but you need to make Captain before you have that ability - it takes a lot of energy." At least for a Captain, less for a General like himself.
Leaning back he kept a smile on his face. "Don't worry too much. We can work on training in private, down in the Rift if need be. We can also train as civilian, it'll help when powered up. I wasn't a fighter either when I joined - you learn and you train." He'd done a lot of both in his time, he'd had to. He had gotten into a lot of battles and fights and those had helped - a lot.
"I won't throw you into fights. We'll work on training slowly and letting you get comfortable. There is no rush for things - I promise." He said gently. He wasn't going to toss him into things, he wasn't a fighter. He'd get into things - slowly.
"Every officer has the name of a mineral. Senshi are stars, comets, planets, asteroids. Knights are locations." He said shrugging his shoulders lightly. "Cats are just anything - they are cats."

Tom sighed mentally. This guy was full of answers and yet he only gave the most basic of answers it seemed. If he was going to fight for this “negaverse” he wanted to know all he could about it. He supposed that the weapon and mineral name would come later.
“Yeah, training definitely sounds good. And I agree with training as a civilian. I should know how to fight that way too.” Though he most likely wouldn’t use it, at least he could learn some self-defense for when he was non-powered.
He still didn’t know what he was supposed to do other than fight. He wondered what the requirements were for an officer like himself. Hopefully they wouldn’t be too bad. He doubted that those in the negaverse were that lenient on those who slacked off.
“Well… thank you for the dinner.” He said this before he forgot, still not quite focusing on what was going on around him.
He tipped his hat up absentmindedly while leaning back a bit in the chair. Accidentally he thoughtlessly scratched Katya a bit and wouldn’t be surprised if she swiped at him. He hadn’t necessarily asked for permission to touch her.

"That and building up stamina - you'll need it. It's not a good idea to train when powered up out in the open and going down to the rift or negaspace every time you want to train is just not the best way to go about things anyway." Going down there all the time just for that. It was ridiculous, even though he personally liked the Rift and found it calming in a way. If Tom, as he said, didn't know how to fight and didn't fight...he needed to train both powered up and not even more so - more time to spend learning and working on himself.
"We'll work on going out soon so you can learn to properly collect energy from people. I'll drop it off, you can come if you like, and we'll work on jumping from roof top to roof top." He said before explaining a bit more. "As we're all considered terrorists, no matter what side we fight on, many you'll find walk about back alleyways or move about the city via roof top hopping. It takes some time to get judgement down and such but it's a good mode of transport about the city as you don't need to worry about traffic, lights, or people seeing you and some mob of people chasing you." Laughing softly he smiled at the other before waving a hand about.
"It's fine. Dinner is the least I can offer." He'd corrupted someone by force, again, and dinner really was the least he could offer. "What else can I tell you? what else do you want to know?"Having been listening, and watching, the two Katya nodded her head once. Her green eyes on the newly made officer. "Yes, if you need anything just ask either of us. It doesn't matter if it's information or a place to crash for a few nights. We take care of our own." She said.
As he reached out to scratch her she shifted and stretched before moving closer. Leaving her chair to join him, climbing into the others lap. "Alexandre here will help you become a fine officer - one of the best. He's been around for a long time and knows enough." She said her tail flickering before wrapping about her legs. "I'd advice keeping with us when you go out powered up. I can cover up the energy signature you both give off and Alexandre can keep you safe in case some senshi or knight turns up. The senshi have magic that can really hurt in some cases, they can do all kinds of things. The knights...they are a cross between us and senshi. They have weak magic and an item they use..but it's not a weapon...though I suppose getting hit with some of their items would hurt...." She said trailing off. They did have some pretty interesting items, some could be used as make shift weapons...others- nope.
"Just get Alexandre's cell phone number and we'll take yours and we can keep in touch that way."

Tom smiled a little to himself imagining jumping and running on all of the rooftops. It sounded like what someone would do in a superhero or action movie and yet they did it here too. And using alleyways and such. It was a bit funny to think of. Perhaps it was because he was in the suburbs of San Francisco, but he was a little miffed about how there could be so many convenient alleways for all of this fighting and moving about. He would have to explore the city a bit more he supposed.
At least Katya had accepted the scratching and had even climbed into his lap which mean he could still pet and scratch her for now. That calmed him down a little, though it did make him want to call his parents to see if he could, for fun to just hear their meows, talk to his own cats.
He nodded in thanks to both Katya and Alex. “Well… I guess if I am going to be doing this, I would like to set up a meeting or a schedule or some other time to meet up again to get some real training done. And to figure out what my mineral name is going to be.” He was still a bit iffy on that. They would probably require him to call himself the name in the presence of other negas, but he still thought of himself as Tom.
“I wonder what kind of powers these knight and senshi have. I guess the negaverse mainly relies on physical weapons then?” That seemed kind of silly, though he supposed there must be some sort of way to fight against the senshi and knights then. The negaverse was somehow winning even though the senshi and the knights looked like they would have the advantage in terms of fighting.
He fished out his phone from his pocket and unlocked it. “I can give you my phone number now if you want. I’ll probably call you sometime with more questions.” He said this while smiling at the other, though hoping that he wouldn’t annoy the other too much. He definitely had to go and meet others that worked for the Negaverse.

"A schedule would be good." The ashen blond replied lightly, nodding his head as he spoke in order to punctuate the simple sentence. "That would work for us both, considering we are both students." And as a General he found himself busy with those duties as well, the other sitting across from him would face that soon enough. The Negaverse came with duties and some of them could keep a person busy...or injure a person and make life a bit harder for a while, more difficult. He really was hoping he'd stop limping about soon.
"There are books on minerals, I have one. I'll get it if you'd like and you can look it over. I've crossed out those that are taken." He had access to the files of members so he'd gone through it one day and with his own book in hand had struck out every name taken by someone already, there were still a massive amount of minerals available. "It'll give you time to decide, just text me when you figure it out."
The question from the other had him nodding. "Yes, we are stronger and faster when powered up, we have weapons, and once you hit Captain you'll be able to teleport as you saw me do. Senshi and knights cannot teleport." It was a good weapon to use against them, to avoid attacks...and to close distance and come up behind them. It was very useful and as a General he could put it to use a bit more than a Captain could. "As for magic they have...some can make you see things, others are physical injuries - falling hail, strong winds...other things. You also have one who can drop cars on you...magnetism...she hurts. So does another one...it felt like I was burning on the inside...like my blood was boiling...the magic varies among the senshi, each is different. We do have a database, and I have personal notes, on some of them." That was another thing to provide the other with, so he could go over things and keep safe...or well..safer.
His own phone was fished out of a pocket and the screen unlocked. Passing it over to the other as he stood slowly. "Grab my number and put yours in. I'll go get that book and my notes. They'll help you." He said rolling his shoulders.
"I don't need you winding up injured by one of the stronger senshi...or one of the more vicious ones." He didn't want him dead either. No, he'd keep his members, his little team, as safe as he could. He'd have to get them all to meet at some point as well. That would be...interesting and perhaps difficult to accomplish.

”Well, we can set it up a bit later. Usually I have soccer practice but on the days I don’t I usually practice solor. I could switch that over to training instead.” As long as he got exercise during it he didn’t really care if he had to cut down on the soccer practice. He wasn’t aiming to be a professional, he only played on the college team for fun.
And going through a book, really? Well if that was the way to do it then so be it. The most common mineral names were probably already taken. Though he wondered what they would rely on for names if every mineral name were to be taken eventually. Hopefully there would still be one left that he would like but he might have to do a bit more research on it to make sure he liked what the mineral was known for too.
Teleportation huh? “Well, guess I’ll just have to try to make it to a captain as quickly as possible. Being a lieutenant just seems like you would be at a disadvantage. Do we start out with cool weapons like your or are lieutenant weapons something different? And do we all start out with the same weapons?” He was interested in what his would be, though he had no idea. If anything he thought it might be soccer related but he doubted it. Tom also wondered how weapons were determined. Did they pick them out or were they something that came from the person themselves? He wouldn’t ask that right now, but he was curious about it.
He also took mental notes of what Alex had said about the senshis and knights. It seemed pretty random what the attacks were, so he would have to have a look at the database to get a general idea of how they worked and how deadly they were.
Thanking the man he took the phone and added the other’s phone number onto his own. Tom felt better now that he had a contact in this negaverse and that he could call Alex too. “Thanks, really. At least with following up with all of this.” He wouldn’t thank him for the turning. Depending on how things went, that might come later. Message
