He was glad when Laz took the newly captured essence from him. It had been overwhelming, to have that much destructive force whipping around with no way to fight it, and Fish followed sedately after it had gone, not even all that concerned with his appearance as he slid into Henry's car. It was a rare day in Gaia when Fisher Gridell didn't care about a ripped coat or a hair out of place. A lot of hairs, actually. He couldn't stop wondering how his cat-repellant catnip might act outside of its vial. Certainly not like that, right?

As they neared the forest, he finally began to feel like himself again. He didn't notice anyone in the immediate vicinity who might be put in danger by whatever they encountered next, but that didn't mean there was no one here. And the animals... Fisher hoped this essence was a little less lively.

"It could be anything, I think," he said quietly. "Killer Wind didn't have all that much in common with a diner."

The trail was a picturesque kind of place, or it would be if this were the middle of summer rather than the first kisses of spring. The group can still see through the trees at the ones farther in due to most leaves currently being in the bud or 'just popped out' stage of life. The trail itself can be seen winding up into that treeline and farther on, taking on a soft incline as it starts on up a hill. Birds were singing, a few early-season flowers were in bloom, and this far out the world was free from the rumble of engines other than that of Henry's car before it was parked. In the small, gravel-filled lot they pulled into, there were a couple other cars already there with engines long since gone cold. Even this early no hiker worth his or her salt could resist the call of nature, it seemed.

Looking at the compass, the needle points directly at the trail-head a few yards away. A wooden signpost near the entrance warns hikers to say on the trail and be alert for any predatory animals that could be passing through the area. "Take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints! Please don't litter! Keep our trails green!"

Getting out of the car, Lazarus stretched and breathe in the fresh air. He does enjoy the great outdoors considerably. He loves the smell of the woods. But alas, living on the Isle of Gaia means sea breeze or city haze most of the time. He wished he could have more free time to enjoy the place. It seems to be a popular but still not too crowded hiking spot.

Perhaps next time he could bring someone here... maybe the next Raevan that sprouts legs. Since it won't be much of a 'hike' if there's none of the hard work for it.

"Somewhere inside eh?" Lazarus glanced over to the compass in Henry's hands still. Heaving up the backpack with the jars, he walked on over to the wooden signpost to see if there is any maps of the hiking path up ahead. "Had you guys been here before? I wonder if there are any maps of the area..."

"Unfortunately not," Henry replied, hoisting himself from out of the car. Leaning his elbow against the roof, his knuckle met is temple as he examined the compass, then toward where it was pointing.

"I haven't, but it should be easy enough to follow the trail I would think." She did, however, give her shoes a glum look. While it was quite possible for her to hike through the forest in heels, it was definitely not the shoe of choice. Maybe she should just plan for something like this to happen whenever she went to a Lab party and wear sensible shoes.

"Well, shall we?"

He shook his head. Fisher was forever a city kid, through and through. There had been no nature hikes for him until today. He stood up straight and inhaled a little clean forest air. It was nice.

"Yeah. I'm ready." He glanced at Nell's feet, pressing his lips together in sympathy. He would have offered her some other pair of shoes if he'd had them, but if she wasn't going to complain, neither would he.

The compass led the team up and up as the trail slowly wound that way until finally they reached the top and it evened out onto flat ground there. Still the needle pointed along the trail even then, leading them further into the woods. Along the route they would start to hear leaves crunching and chance a glance at a doe before she noticed the group and fled with white tail held high.

Eventually they reached a split in the trail marked by a signpost. The compass, however, did not point them down any of the three new paths. Instead it pointed off into the woods into unmarked territory. With many trees still lacking leaves, it is possible to see reasonably well through the branches, although from where they are standing there's not much to see besides trees, underbrush, and something red and rather cloth-like flapping in the slight breeze, entangled in a stumpy bramble bush.

The hike was fairly uneventful, they didn't pass by any hikers nor did they speak much, which was kind of awkward. It's not like Lazarus wasn't feeling sociable or anything, but he's just not usually the one to initiate conversations. So instead he just walked ahead of the group along the trail, looking back occasionally towards Henry's direction to see where the compass was pointing at.

Until Henry motioned for him to stop. The Raevan looked in the direction the needle was pointing at. The red caught his attention immediately, it was quite stark in the somewhat still muted colors of the surroundings.

"Let's investigate." Pushing aside some of the branches in the way, he stepped carefully into the woods, off the main path. He still needed to be careful, unsure of which fel essence they could encounter here. It could be harmless sure, but there are chances that they could encounter something violent like the Howling Wind as well.

It was rather strange that they hadn't wandered into anyone, but with how crazy the howling wind had been, Henry was rather thankful. Luckily no one had gotten hurt at the diner (save for him landing on his tush).

At Laz's command, Henry nodded and followed suit.

Surprised by the sudden color, the nurse stopped short of running into the Valsaros and watched the cloth carefully. Was it left by a hiker?

Nell trudged along mostly in silence, though she usually would have tried to strike up a conversation. Most of her attention, unfortunately, was taken up with trying to not trip over anything in the path, and it took her a moment to notice that everyone had mostly come to a stop.

She peered curiously at the bit of cloth everyone was staring at after she had carefully picked her way over to where everyone was gathering, glancing between it and Laz as he started to go towards it. "Is that..." Safe, she was going to say, but Lax had already gone after it, and she supposed this whole thing bordered on unsafe, so with a small shrug and a sigh she carefully stepped off the path after him.

Fisher followed along for a while, pausing when he noticed the doe. Cool. By the time he caught up to the group again and stood eyeing the flapping bit of cloth, it seemed almost uneventful compared to the other things the essence might have been, though to be honest, he still wasn't entirely certain how these things worked. It might be killer fabric for all he knew.

"Should we surround it?" he asked, unable to keep a bit of a smile from his face as he spoke.

Surround it, approach it, or even make a grab for it - whatever Team A chooses to do is up to them to decide. However, upon nearing the flapping fabric they will quickly discover that it is a shirt, no more and no less.

Of course, it is a very clean and well cared for article instead of being ratty and weather beaten. A few feet away from it was another out of place item - a shoe. Further past that was its match and it seemed that there was a veritable trail of scattered clothing for them to follow. Even if they hadn't been of the mind to do such a thing, the needle in the compass would compell them to. Then again, the scream that pierced the air might have had some sway as well.

High and distinctly feminine, the sound came from the direction the strewn-about clothing led. Following the sound, it would soon be joined by others - some deeper than the rest. As Team A breaks into a clearing, they are greeted by two things:

One is the smell of strong alcohol, as if a liquor cabinet tipped over and broke every bottle inside it to permeate the vicinity thickly.

The second is a sight some might only think happen in crazy college frat party movies. Several stark naked people dancing and laughing, very clearly drunk off their asses and "living it up" to the very definition of the phrase.

Lazarus was careful. Even if he knew that fel essences wouldn't be man-made, the red cloth could be a sign of something else. He was tentative when he reached out to grab the fabric, but to his surprise it was just a....

"...Shirt?" He fumbled over the piece of fabric and held out the article of clothing for everyone to see. It was a men's hiking shirt. Shouldn't the hikers be well... wearing it? Unless the hikers had been naughty out in the woods. Shirt still in hand, Lazarus stood up and saw something else not too far from them.

"Are those... pants?" Lazarus walked on over, noticing there had already a sort of a path formed as well, with broken roots and flatten shrubs on the ground. Looks fresh too. Perplexed, he looked at the group, then at the compass in Henry's hand, which is pointing in the direction where the trail of clothing is headed. "I suppose... this is a clue."

He was about to crouch down and examine the pants when they all heard the scream. "What the hell??" That brought some slasher film vibe for Lazarus. They are in the middle of the woods after all! But if someone is in trouble, he felt compelled to help. So he began a mad dash through the narrow path towards the sound of the scream.

The scream had startled Henry as well, the man immediately jumping into a more defensive stance as he watched Laz make his way through the thick of it. He followed suit shortly after, but what he saw made his brows raise.

"...Well, then..." said Henry, looking away once the scene had processed. Sure, he saw naked people with work all the time, but not in this sense. It wasn't so much out of embarrassment as respect, even if the group of people were purposefully naked. Manners, manners.

She followed at their heels, prepared to see someone being attacked by some forest creature or axe murderer or something, not....
....that.
"Oh," was all she said, hand rising to cover her mouth as her cheeks turned a rather bright red. "Are we, um. Sure this is where the compass is pointing?"
