“I do not dictate how the Oban’s live, I’m not Oban myself but I don’t judge either.” Itotia had a point, but Aseara felt it was moot. As far as she had seen, the Obans were different than the other races. Itotia’s experience had only been with Obans, she could understand why she had that train of thought. “The others don’t all live like this; I know the Wind tribe certainly doesn’t. When I was returned to the village my neighbours took me in the best they could.” She shrugged; she didn’t know what to respond to Itotia, she would not own up to other people’s actions.
“I would not risk a child’s life for someone to learn a lesson in life.” This Aseara would never agree. Perhaps in Yael it made them strong, but here those so called unfavorable conditions might just destroy someone. Aseara was not a destroyer, she was not a fighter either and she would not stoop to Afsana’s level. Ever. “Sometimes, we just need someone to extend a hand, that’s all I think.” Afsana beat people who were already on the ground and only helped them back up if they were worthy for her. Well Aseara thought everyone was worthy and everyone needed a helping hand once in a while.
The wind girl took another bite of her food. “What do you want from me Itotia?”

Itotia's lip curled at the sentiment, before she shook her head, "You are no grand priestess, Aseara, and you expect too much from your actions. Such selflessness will lead to you being taken advantage of"
The food wasn't half bad, but Itotia still had yet to find her own hunger. Even months after her abduction, she still struggled to trust the meals before her, as she assumed they would be tampered with to help keep her in line. Trust was something she struggled with, and the fact that Aseara was asking for her trust made her want to snap or run.
Instead, she just continued to poke at her meal and let Aseara's question hang in dead air.
Maybe it was time to negotiate. She was sure the wind girl could only take her avoidance for so long.
"I want my own room, with a door I can lock. I want to be permitted to leave whenever I wish, and if I so choose to, leave permanently."
Her gaze was avoiding, but she figured it wasn't a bad thing.
"I want payment for my services, and I want the right to refuse any and all services and patrons as I see fit."

“You’re right I am no priestess, but I do not pretend to be either.” She looked at Itotia. “I do not want them to be left out in the street. It could happen to anyone, especially those I love.” She still had friends there, they too were in danger. “I am also selfish enough to want this for my own. To want my own life free from restraint and free to see Nuri as I please. To live my life with Nuri however I want without having to sulk in the shadows. I want to be able to go through the front door as I please.”
Itotia’s next words made Aseara blink and pause, leaning back to look at the Yaeli perplexed. “I wasn’t expecting to give you any less. Janeska has her own room and I told you you’d be free to leave and go as you please… Even if that means permanently, but I’d like to know if you are returning to Yael so I have time to find someone to replace you. Just a simple curtesy.” As for the rest of Itotia’s demands, Aseara chuckled softly. Not to make fun of her but because that was how she wanted to run things to begin with.
“I won’t be forcing anyone to take on clients or do things they don’t want to. As for payment, we all get paid Itotia, Afsana simply takes much more for her own gain and pleasure. I will give you what is fair as I will with everyone, but the Red Amaryllis does need money and I will have to take a part, albeit small, of the client payment that is given to you.” She was going to have to make some calculations, but she doubted she’d have to take a sum that was larger or even with Afsana’s.
“What say you?”

Again, that Oban's name. Nuri, her lover. Nuri, her savior. Nuri, her drive. Itotia would appreciate such a thing if she had one for her own. All she had were two annoyingly clingy people, Aseara and Kresimir. They weren't quite friends, and not even close to lovers, but they were consistent enough to cross her mind on more than one occasion. If she wasn't careful, she might even grow dependent on them, mainlanders.
That would become an issue.
"I don't want Janeska's room. At least, I want all of her items burned." A dark look crossed her face, and her lips curled a bit at the thought, "I'll burn them myself."
Itotia finished what little she was planning on eating and moved the bowl away, humming lightly at Aseara's counter response, "I don't believe in blind promises, but I do believe in retribution. I'm not going anywhere, so consider me an active participant in your quest to take down Afsana." a dark smirk crossed her face as she added lowly, "May I provide the divine intervention of my gods for her sins..."

“You can have whatever room you wish then,” Aseara didn’t care which room he wanted in all honesty. It seemed like such a trivial detail to her, which room Itotia got. She was sure she was going to get some similar requests from others, perhaps she’d have to remodel the Red so everyone could fit neatly and nicely together. She knew perhaps too that some would want to leave since they were no longer restrained by Afsana. She didn’t wish it, but she would not stop them. She was ripping their lives away from Afsana to give it back to them, not to lock it with her own.
“If you wish to burn them then do so, I don’t care. I’m going to be throwing out all of Afsana’s things myself.” Aseara shrugged and continued to eat away at her greens. “I’m not certain on how I can show you that my promises are not blind nor empty. I can tell you one thing however; I will not be chasing anyone down with everything changing at the Red.” Aseara chuckled. “Then welcome,” Aseara extended out her hand towards Itotia. Would the Yaeli take it or leave her hanging?

Itotia seemed visually satisfied with the room condition. Since she had arrived, she had been forced to share with mainlanders. Having her own place would mean additional security, and safety which she had yet to feel since her arrival. Aseara may not fully get it, but it was something Itotia would treasure and a step in feeling secure.
"Burning is much more satisfying..." a pause, "...although you would rather give them away to those who need it, wouldn't you?"
A small tease, but nothing to aggressive yet again. Itotia was doing her own dance, the dance of dealing with the big, bad mainlanders. As she did this dance, she never expected to actually touch one, and eyed the hand for a moment. It represented a lot. An agreement, a partnership, a promise. Raising her hand slowly, she gently touched Aseara and shook for a minimal amount of time, trying to ignore the thought that her hand felt just the same as any on Yael.
"...It's an agreement."

“No one will need anything from Afsana anymore.” She knew Itotia was jesting and she did it right back by cracking a small smile and it grew even larger when Itotia finally shook her hand. “It’s a deal then.” It was official or at least as official as she could make it. She briefly wondered how the others would react knowing Itotia was now going to be second in command. She went right back to her greens until they were completely gone and then took a swing of water but regretted it right away. Things were going to be different, very different.
“Everyone’s going to want to be your friend once they knew you’re going to be in charge, how do you feel about that?”

Itotia rolled her eyes at the jest before shaking her head. She didn't need friends and she hoped they would get that. Odds were that if any were as stubborn as Aseara then she'd have to make it clear how things would be in term if interactions.
"...are you ready to go yet?"
She moved to stand without an answer, clearly ready to head out despite waiting for the response.

Aseara chuckled and then stood, “Yes I am ready.” The wind girl left a few coins on the table to pay for both of their meals and then headed out. Her relationship with Itotia wasn’t exactly solid but it was on the mend. Which was an improvement right? With that done, Aseara put her hood back on and stepped outside into the warm sun again. They still had some time to kill; maybe they’d just walk around. They didn’t have to be back until dinner time anyways. Aseara glanced down both sides of the street, marked out the way and started walking. They we’re going to take the long way home.

Following the girl's lead, Itotia pulled up her own hood and kept her eyes low, falling back into place as the hidden Yaeli among the snakes of Oba. If what Aseara said was true, someday she may just return home. Even if that didn't come, she might be able to at least walk with her head held high, ready to be a strong person yet again.
That is if she could get over the shaking in her fingers, the shortness of breath, and the fear.
Taking a deep breath, she let the thoughts fade, and followed Aseara to her 'home'.
