"What an odd question." She mused as she idly pulled the thread through her fabric. She simply never thought of such things. She simply existed.
"I'm not sure how to answer that. I didn't realize living day to day with with no squawking voices demanding my time was a requirement of survival."

Odd question? No it wasn't. Kiki was odd.
"I guess it's not a requirement…but it's certainly helpful. For example, a friend might have helped you without the questions, teasing, or demanding the best hand-delivered pizza ever." Harley mused, snickering, as she squeezed some silver paint onto a makeshift pallet. "Kind of like…an investment that pays over time." She shrugged.
"I dunno, I guess I just can't imagine being alone."

Kiki didn't even pretend to give it any thought. She simply stared at Harley like the alien she was, slowly stitching up the sides of her pillow backing for the headboard. The whole thing sounded quite below her. "You're very odd." She said after a moment, setting aside her needle in favour of stuffing the pillow backing with cotton filling. " So odd.." "My experience with friends is from observation. They are loud together in public places. They squabble like toddlers and uneducated fools. Partake in silly activities and simply require too much investment for very little gain."

"So, you're okay with being by yourself, all the time, unless forced?"
And Kiki thought she was weird.

"My own company is simply the best." She said matter of fact.
"I do as I wish, with no outside snide comments about what it is I enjoy. The silence is golden. The serenity, perfect. I have spent time with others, mind you. Limited amounts at best. I once helped paint the nails of a fellow female I'll have you know. My skills are simply astounding."

"I see." Harley didn't see. She couldn't understand how Kiki operated. Not a single night went by where she didn't yearn for the company of others. She couldn't stand to be alone for longer than three hours. It was a stark contrast to Kiki, who was nearly her complete opposite. "That's interesting. I can't stand to be alone. I don't like not being in the company of other people." It was hard to admit, but since Kiki had, she thought she might as well indulge in the conversation as well.
"I'm sure you're great at it." Despite being thoroughly confused by everything the other woman stood for, she could at least snicker at how boastful she was. "But, I'm not sure you could do better than me. I am a painting master." As demonstrated by how wonderfully she was turning these planks silver.

"A master.." Kiki smirked to herself as she regarded her work in her lap. "I doubt it. No one can deco nails better than me."

"I bet you're wrong." Hattie whistled innocent, her gaze and focus down on her work. "Maybe we can take a day to see who has the better nail skills."

"Fine. But when I win, you owe me ten Burger King Whoppers." She said haughtily, as she now began to sew bead pearls into the pillow's form.
"Now we must decide on a judge to provide impartial justice."

"And when I win, you owe me ten Burger King Whoppers…and your friendship application box." Harley looked up just long enough to grin at her adversary. Through it, she continued to paint.
"I'm sure we can find someone. Especially someone neither of us know, just to be safe." It was easier to be impartial that way. "Maybe we can decide on that on the day?"

"Very well." She was certain she would win, so she did not even stop to ponder the loss of her trash can.
"I suggest you save your piddly change right away so you will be ready to bestow me my feast."

"Whatever you say, Paper-bag Princess."
"Is this silver enough for you?" She said after some time, lifting the plank to show her work.

Her jaw dropped, as did her sewing onto her lap.
Did she just call her smelly trash!?
She did not answer Hattie. Only continued to stare at her as if the woman had committed murder before her eyes.

"I know, I know, it's amazing, right? I'm so good at this." Harley saw the look for what it was, but really, Kiki had started with the trash talk. So it just made sense that she would ignore it entirely, and pretend the silence was a praise.

"I will personally deliver that pizza of yours unharmed, granted you leave my presence post haste." She growled, moving to stand.
"No one insults a Princess and expects her arms to open wide for her. Leave me at once!" She announced with flourish, directing a pointed finger down the hall.
