He heard her fangs click in the air less than inches away from him and hardly flinched, more satisfying by the oddly soothing sound of glass shattering over the general's skull. The noises she made were worse than anything, grating and harsh on the ears, but the crack of Celsus' whip overpowered her. Eurydike almost lost himself for a second, seeing the general there with her hands clapped over her ears, a thrill of something like he'd felt in the jail when he'd gone after the other lieutenant briefly washing over him. His knuckles itched, his blood pumped hot in his veins, and even as he dropped back, he was already thinking how he might come at her again - where to pull, where to hit, how to -
But then Cerussite was in his arms and with him there and Celsus pushing them both, that was all he could see then. He grabbed a hold of his fiance, almost painfully tight, as if afraid he might slip away somehow between here and there, and he did as commanded - just go, not to look back, not to consider what could have been ended here if they'd been just a little stronger. It wasn't about that. From beginning to now, it'd all been for Tolliver, and nothing else.
Mission accomplished.

In her distraction, there was an opening to allow her quarry to escape. All too soon, despite her lashing out and chasing shadows she couldn't follow with a scattered mind, Cinnabar was the only one left and her snarling was ineffective with no audience.
When the magic wore off, there was no target left for her rage and the half-youma roared her anger into the night, unable to do anything else.
---
Hours later, she would find herself in her rooms, sprawled across her unmade bed. A frown creased Cin's face, but trying to dig back through the haze in her head yielded... nothing. She couldn't remember how she had gotten there... or really what had happened when she had confronted Cerussite and his Order side friends. She remembered... teleporting to him. Arguing and threatening... and then things went fuzzy.
Had she killed them? Had they escaped? She had no idea, and when she called him with her crystal, dug out of her pocket, there was no answer.
Whatever had happened, it was obvious she no longer had a Lieutenant. Sprawled on her back, Cinnabar stared at the ceiling of her room and quietly raged for a moment before boxing it up and setting it aside, falling into a coldness in which she could plan.
She would make sure that, whatever had caused the strange blankness in her mind, she would find out what had happened to Cerussite. And, if he had truly gotten away to purify? Well. She had another knight to hunt down.
