      gaia_nitemareleft Statistics gaia_nitemareright

      Bismae (pronounced Bihs-may (like miss-may)). Bismae is a quirky and socially challenged Naga. She has never played well with others, tends to touch people without permission, asked blunt and impertinent questions, and is largely less interested in people than she is in animals and plants. Still, she finds interest and beauty in the bizarre, unique and grotesque. She has an especial fascination for Hybrids and Mutants.

      Her family life was complex. The naga was paired with a bakeneko by the name of Percy at a young age, destined to be his companion through life. She was used as a tool to teach Percy about the intricacies of Naga culture (although her peculiarities made her a rather odd specimen), as Percy's upbringing and future lifestyle would rely heavily on his knowledge of both Bakeneko and Naga societies. As a result, Bismae never knew her own parents.

      Then Percy decided to uproot their lives. The rest of Below had been exposed and Percy had been eager to join the Academy and experience a life outside of what he had always known. Bismae had no choice but to join him, and so the two found themselves sharing a dorm at the Academy together.

        Positive Traits
          gaia_nitemareleft Focused. Bismae is capable of dedicating herself to tasked for long periods of time without tire. As if a switch is turned on, Bismae's usual lethargy and disinterest disappears when she's set to a task. Often, once she starts, only Percy can call her off her pursuit.
          gaia_nitemareleft Impartial. Bismae does not judge. She is fully and truly impartial. She does not value one thing or person higher than anything else. While she has her favourite pasttimes, she has no delusions that her interests have any more value or worth than another or their passions. This makes her a just mediator, if one can prevail upon her to intervene.
          gaia_nitemareleft Nature-Lover. Above all things, Bismae loves the wild, especially forests, plants, and animals of all kinds. She takes extreme care in cultivating plants, and makes an effort to protect threatened species. Her impartiality helps her value a grub just as much as the bird that preys upon it, the weed as much as the cultured bloom.
          gaia_nitemareleft Dedicated. Bismae's loyalty is hard won, but she stands by her few friends, her decisions, and her passions. She, from a young age, knew her purpose and pursues it with dogged perseverance, regardless of social expectation or limitations.
          gaia_nitemareleft Hard-Working. Barring the debilitating cold, Bismae works hard and diligently. She does not question the point of a task, and she does not consider her own weariness or hunger. She hates leaving a task uncompleted.


        Negative Traits
          gaia_nitemareleft Antisocial. Bismae does not seek out mortal contact. She goes to considerable lengths to stay to herself. Those she spends time with are usually put in the same category as any other animal or plant in her study. She find them curious or informative, but has little care for the jockeying of social favour.
          gaia_nitemareleft Insensitive. Bismae's disregard for morality and couth often causes her to come off as cold, harsh, or insensitive. She does not really care of the effect this has on her, and reciprocally, rarely takes judgments against her to heart. If she had her way, everyone would be as empirical as she is.
          gaia_nitemareleft Tactless. Bismae is often crude, saying impertinent or questionable things. She comments on traits and appearance as a matter of course, and does not do so from an attempt to offend. But whether it is mentioning someone's imperfections, or irritating behaviours, if one possesses it, it's fair game for discussion, which often embarrasses her friend, Percy.
          gaia_nitemareleft Single-Minded. Once Bismae's focus has been grabbed, she becomes single-minded and obsessive about it. She even goes so far as stalking or badgering until she gets what she wants, which is usually knowledge. Until her curiosity is satisfied, or a skill is honed, she rivets solely on her task at hand.
          gaia_nitemareleft Negative. Bismae is pessimistic, despite usually being very stable in mood. She doesn't easily get excited, and is rarely sad. However, she tends to note flaws, comment on the negative, or expect the worst. This is not because she is depressed or cruel, but rather that she is accustomed to negative responses towards her, and has come to expect them. Like so many other things, she does not place value or judgement; bad is just another way of being.


        Enjoys
          gaia_nitemareleft Snakes. Being a Naga, Bismae loves snakes. She loves all breeds and species, the shed skins, the scales, the sound of a rattle. She wants nothing more than to surround herself with as many as possible and live in a snake ball in a secluded hut somewhere away from the world.
          gaia_nitemareleft Bundling. Careing nothing for how she looks or is perceived, Bismae often has herself wrapped up in thick, shapeless clothes, especially knits or wools for their warmth and comfort. At home, she bundles herself if all the blankets she owns and shuffles along.
          gaia_nitemareleft Solitude. Bismae prizes time to be alone, to think, to study, and to sleep. She likes the quiet that comes with it. This time alone allows her to reflect on all she has learned, recharge her tolerance for society and to do whatever she likes without interruption or censure.
          gaia_nitemareleft Meditation. Bismae is not particularly spiritual, but she enjoys vision journeys, attempting out of body experiences, and the deep in-tune connection with her own body and its systems. She often will spend hours focused on deep breathing and memory exercises and dream recollection.
          gaia_nitemareleft Wild Lands. From camping to nature hikes, Bismae loves being outdoors. She loves the strength, wildness and majesty of wild places, and is far more at home in tangled undergrowth than she is in a manicured garden. She feels happiest and freest breathing deep of musty forest air and napping in deep mosses.


        Dislikes
          gaia_nitemareleft Urban Areas. Land that has been suppressed by buildings and roads and (worst of all) malls, are a tragic site to Bismae. Even worse, they are always swarmed with tonnes of people and smells and noises.
          gaia_nitemareleft The Cold. Like all Naga, Bismae doesn't do well in the cold. It's one of the few things that can pull her off a task once she's begun. She often pre-emptively tries to prevent it by bundling in thick clothes and blankets and heat lamps to keep the chill at bay.
          gaia_nitemareleft Crowds. Bismae doesn't like being bumped, pressed in upon, or stepped on. In big crowds, there is simply too much noise and stimuli for her to focus, and they tend to give her a headache and make her more irritable and blunt than.
          gaia_nitemareleft Dressing Up. Bismae hates being confined, and the worst possible confinement is wearing (as Percy calls them) 'presentable clothes'. Anything fancy usually is also tightly fitted, made of thin fabrics, and full of cumbersome things like lace or beads or useless decorations.
          gaia_nitemareleft Arguments. As rude as Bismae is, it is never antagonistic in intent, so the tiresome habit people of picking fights in response to her observations never ceases to dismay her. Why can't anyone have a reasonable discussion without getting uppity?
          gaia_nitemareleft Confinement. Claustrophobia causes Bismae's eternal calm to entirely slip. In her panic, she lashes out with tail and fangs, becoming wild and violent until released. Afterwards, she tends to seclude herself to recuperate, squeezing herself into a tight ball, preferably out in the untamed wilds.
