Carmine's eyes grew wide for a moment when he was caught by the tall lady for staring. Luckily she was quickly distracted by a small blue, fluffy boil. this boil intrigued Carmine because his size was fairly close to Carmine's. The tall lady had so much energy and was all over the place and so very loud.
He wasn't expecting it when she sat back down, stared directly at him and spoke. At first he just blinked slowly, then pointed to himself and tilted his head slightly. Sometimes he was adorable when he wasn't being a creep.
"Me?" he squeaked. He still wasn't entirely sure what to make of the group, but he found them interesting so far. Lifting himself with his wings, he popped a good bit closer to the tall lady and stuck out a tiny clawed hand, "Carmine." His voice was still small and a little squeaky.

Technically speaking, Yaya could have been down there right now proving her worth, but she'd opted out this year. Close to graduation, juggling a complicated personal life, planning a wedding. It all kept the ghoul busy enough without the added work that came with the House Cup. That didn't mean she wouldn't show up to cheer on her fellow demons and friends though. Lips tugging up in a small grin, the djinn leaned around West so she could be heard by both of them. "It wouldn't even be a contest," she agreed, all good nature and light hearted.
Movement to her side caught her attention. Jove, one of her oldest and dearest friends, had taken a seat near him, and she had to return his smile, fingertips wiggling in a small wave. She'd have preferred a hug, and it was likely the boil wouldn't escape without obliging her with one, but for now she left him alone, seeing as his attention seemed sharply focused on the students on the field below them. At least until the boil he'd been watching had made an appearance in the stands as well.
Leaning into West's side. If she held any guilt for the harassment he received from Hel following the use of his full name, it didn't show on soft features. She lay a hand on his arm as her cheek came to rest against his shoulder. "I'm doing alright," she answered for both of them, though it was the other demon that would know just what sort of drama she'd been dealing with the last time they'd seen each other.
As Hel shouted, Yaya turned her attention down to the field, glowing eyes flicking over the various figures moving around the course. Once upon a time Marosa would have been easily spotted with his wings, now she looked for his ginger curls. She hadn't seen him yet.
She was possibly the last among them to notice a new addition to their group. Not until Hel was addressing the tiny monster. "Oh." Vaguely familiar, bot she didn't think she had ever met him. "Hello there."

West narrowed his eyes at Hel's reaction to his name, though he couldn't work up any amount of anger greater than normal to level at her, so he just kind of sat there glaring. Glaring at Carmine, glaring at Jove (in spite of the fact that he was quite pleased to see the boil was still alive and intact), glaring at Mathias, glaring at that reaper p***k from a couple of proms ago that Hel seemed so keen on harassing.
With a sigh, he slid an arm around Yaya's back, giving the bat demon a more appraising look as he very pointedly ignored Hel. Kids these days were either massive giants or small enough to fit in your luggage. It was weird.
"Whatcha doin' here Carmine?" he asked. "Y'know, I heard th' most impressive students in this thing're gonna be kidnapped by Sandy Claws and made into slaves." He hadn't heard any such thing, but maybe smacking the boil with a little fear of Christmas would make him go away. Not to mention it would also be really funny.

The tall lady wasn't the first to respond after Carmine had finally stopped being such a creep and introduced himself. The first to say anything was the pretty blue lady with pointy horns. She seemed a lot quieter than the others, and the little demon's ears swiveled in her direction before he began to reply, "Hi! Are you--"
He didn't finish his statement because the large, red-haired boil had started speaking to him as well. This boil did set Carmine's nerves on edge a bit, mostly because he was easily 3-4 times as big as Carmine, but still. The older boil tried to scare him with talk of Christmas and slaves, which worked, but Carmine tried not to show his fears. Despite his efforts, his eyes got a little bigger and his fur started to stand on end.
"They'd have to catch me first!" Carmine shouted in response to the red-haired boil as he jumped into the air and hovered just out of reach. Out of order, the little demon answered the first question," I ran the obstacle course a bit ago. Now I'm trying to meet other students and things."
All of a sudden, things started happening in the arena. It appeared that all the competitors had finished the obstacle course and the elves were setting up for the next round of torture. Once they had finished setting up, Carmine and the others were being summoned to take a quiz. Not being one to enjoy a quiz, Carmien wore a sour face, but he turned to his new... friends? and said, "I'll be back soon!" before flitting off to take his quiz.
Jove's tail wagged, and although he didn't exactly smile, it was clear from the perk in his ears and the upwards curl of his tale he was very happy.
While waiting for the wolpertinger to head up, he blinked back at Hel. Then he snorted. What better doggy greeting could he give than a snort of acknowledgement? One ear swivelled backwards for a second, listening for approach, but otherwise attention stayed with the group in the stands. Surprisingly, both Yaya and the little demon received a small hand-wave in greeting. West... not so much. Jove's bright gaze lingered a particularly long time upon meeting West's glare. It was really an angry stare, the pup was just reacting to the unspoken challenge all canines (and pokemon trainers) were familiar with.
He would have stared until West looked away or suggested a fight, but then Mathias arrived and once again there was tail wagging.
Jove slid over to make room for Matty to sit next to him, even though there was plenty of room to begin with. Perhaps a part of him was afraid the wolpertinger would sit somewhere else instead, and the pup would have none of that. He began nodding before noticing the falter in his friend's expression.
The pup's head slowly tilted... and then he patted Mathias on the face with his gloved hands.

[ Jolly Obstacle Course ]
Mathias's eyes flickered to the other older looking students that Jove was sitting near, just another quick glance that fell away quickly as he did not wish to find himself staring at a ghoul for too long, lest something happen that he really did not want. He wondered if they were all Jove's friends, and the thought made him feel both envious and slightly jealous, though the latter of the two he did not quite understand. He had noticed, when he had approached that Jove had been giving one of these other likely graduates a level, unflinching gaze, and that same student had given Mathias a glare upon the wolpertinger's arrival, which Mathias thought was rather rude, so he responded in kind with a muttered "how charming", a glare of his own, a sneer, and a sharply clawed middle finger raised in West's direction.
Friends of Jove's or not, the young monster boil was not about to take any s**t from anybody.
With that out of way, his focus went back properly to Jove and Jove alone, though that was proving hard to do when one of the ghouls nearby began to shout at somebody below, in a voice that was all to familiar.
Oh, It was her, again. Well, if she ignored him, he could certainly just ignore her. If she tried to start anything, than he could deal with it. Simple as that.
Not that she mattered that much to him, anyways. The world around him seemed to melt away when Jove reached over to pat him on the face, and he sighed, both from the way his stomach seemed to flip over at the touch, the personal attention, and at his own sudden melancholy that managed to mix in with his happiness, because he had failed, and Jove had witnessed that failure, and now seemed to think to comfort him for it, which while nice also felt a little on the condescending side. Reaching up, he lightly held one of Jove's hands in his own before the pup could pull it away, and pressed his face against it for a moment, eyes closing for just a few short seconds before they opened again.
He had decided that his failure did not matter. If Jove was here, than he was just going to focus on enjoying what time he would get to spend with him, as he never seemed to know for sure when he would get to see the ghost boil next. He lowered his hand, but sought to keep Jove's held, and gave it a light squeeze, as he gave the other boil a shy smile.
"I have been missing you. It is so nice that you are here." He admitted, while letting warmer feelings wash away all the rest. "Vould like to be spending day vith, if not too busy?" Again, he glanced towards the others, unsure if Jove already had plans.
Valeryk lurched sidelong at the flash of something whipping just outside his immediate vision, heading down, quick, unstoppable. The not-quite-sight was immediately followed by a resounding 'smash!' that had him flinching out of his seat and whirling to face the sound. And mess. Immediately 'mess' seemed like the very best word for the situation. Because before him, amidst the disorder of the shattered... pottery...? And... ashes... And debris littered across his legs...
Val took another step back from the other person, eyes narrowed and unfriendly. There was an unpleasant sting against his shin as he moved, though a quick-and-hardly-thorough glance down didn't reveal any immediate injury that he'd sustained. What in the name of Jack had just happened. Violet orbs raked down the other individual assessingly. Male. Ghost. Flighty. Loud- obnoxious, more like it. What if that- his gaze dropped to the shattered ceramic- vase had actually landed on him, instead of at his side? He clearly lacked any manner of common sense. And hardly looked apologetic at all.
"Oh-one-oh...?" The monster repeated uncertainly, cocking his head in confusion. Was that a type of student code here? Perhaps an identification number? He glanced to the guest pass in the possession of the ghostly boy. It would be strange of him to have such a thing if he were already a student... That string of numbers... a name?
Peculiar. Very peculiar.
And rude. And very smiley about something, but at least the boy didn't seem horribly unfriendly. Surely that was worth his name, since it had been asked of him. "Val..." He murmured softly, barely discernible over the raucous cheering of the assembled crowd. Someone below must have plowed headlong into the snow or something. He cleared his throat and tried again. "Val. My name is Valeryk Respin. But I usually just go by Val."
He expected there wouldn't be much more conversation after that, or at least, he couldn't fathom a reason why there would be, unless the other boy continued throwing vases, jars, urns, or whatever that had been at him. As he moved to sit back down, he wondered if this was perhaps how people here usually greeted each other. Val desperately hoped not, of course, but then he supposed perhaps the only thing that would be out of place about that, would be himself.

"BLARG!" The ghoul exclaimed dramatically, with flailing arms, as she plopped down beside a demon boil that was a good foot taller than herself. He offered her a cup of what, her nose could tell was tea. She wasn't one for chocolate, and she preferred tea over coffee. She was happy that her brother knew this as she sipped away at the white tea. "That test was harder than I had thought. I mean, I've studied the geography of Halloween Town, but Christmas Land? I was literally closing my eyes and wrote whatever wherever my pen landed. And mind you, I had lost said pen until an examiner took pity and gave me a new one. Which, by the way, was very humiliating."
The boil hound gave an affirmative huff around the rim of his own cup. A hint of a smile.
"And I saw you down there." She spoke, poking at his large arm as it flexed beneath the coat as he drank.
"I was putting my lot in for your dorm." He answered flatly as he placed the cup on his knee. His face the perfect length of ten-day stubble, his cheeks slightly red from the cold, as was his nose, but his thick brows distracted her briefly. "Though, I'd have rather put my lot into the monster dorms. They don't look so hot in comparison."
"What!? But you're a demon, I'm a demon, you should through your lot to us! Demons!" She exclaimed, gesturing widely with her free arm to around them as if she was pointing out every demon around them. Odd because she was the only individual that was wearing the red and black uniform of the demon competitors that he could see.
Uru took a sip from his drink with a soft chuckle. "Yes, but Damien's a monster. I like Damien. I'd throw my lot to Damien if I could. And I know you'd forgive me if I did because you're my sister and you can't hate me."
"I... hate you."

Wrex was a lot more conspicuous without his mount, but that didn't discourage him from trying spook his fellow competitors when he could. Despite all the noise and hubbub, it was a little easy to, he found: distracted students and harmless little elves busying themselves with Jack knew what made for perfect targets. He was licking his fingers of his last tasty surprise, confident he had outrun the boil whose face had been recently snowballed into oblivion. Tactical, even. Too bad snow didn't taste great on its own...
He was beginning to plot out his next move to pass the time (and to forget about the stupid stupid test) when he sniffed someone familiar. "Brinner!" the boil called gleefully as he jogged his way over, long tail whipping someone in passing without him noticing. "Look! Won things!"
He jingled his medals proudly, not seeming to take notice of the boil with her just yet.

A name was called out, then loud stomping sounds. Brenna turned around in her spot, cup in hand when she spotted the stampeding student coming at her. It was Wrex, his appearance was unmistakable, even when he was wearing different colors such as the monster's red and orange. Excited, she sat upright, waving her hands wildly. "Wrex! I did too!!!!" She waved her own jangley medals. She was doing so well, but that wasn't the reason they got their medals, it was for participating. It was for doing good for their own houses. Never the less, she hopped in place in excitement as Wrex drew closer.
"It's almost time for the next competition!!!!" SHe called out.

He bounced on his claws gleefully. "Is strength?" Wrex asked, medals jingling together. "Hope is strength. Tests are stupid." He stuck his tongue out. "Minipet distracted me too! Cheaters! Don't mean anything anyway. Is just scribbles." Even though he had actually done better than expected...But it didn't mean he didn't have a big urge to just rip the folder up instead of actually trying. It definitely would have been more fun for sure.
Only then did Wrex notice Brenna had someone with her, and he cocked his head curiously. "Brinner's friend?"

"If it was a contest of strength, I am sure you got a good handle on that, yes? Yes!" She laughed as the boil came closer. "Seriously, that quiz was silly. It asked the silliest questions that had no remote association to Halloween. It was unfair, honestly. We know nothing of Christmas Town being first years." She huffed dramatically. She had noticed the minipets during the event, but she was more focused on her work. Focus, one of the few things she had a handle on.
"OH! This is my brother." She gestured to the large beside her who's thick brows quirked at his introduction. "Uru, this is Wrex. Wrex, Uru."
Uru's response was a silent rise of his brows and a subtle nod before he went back to drinking his cup of hot chocolate. "The next event is caroling." He spoke, answering the asked question between the pair of them. As a spectator, he made note of what the events were that the Internholiday Ambassadors had in store for the competitors. "So you'll be singing something. So, that means you got it in the bag, Brenna."

Wrex bobbed his head aggressively in agreement.
"Oh!" His tail twitched as he considered slapping the boil in greeting but decided, eh, probably not the best idea. Uru looked kinda beefy, and while Wrex all too happy to pick fights with anyone, he couldn't jeapordize his standings in the upcoming contest--
--wait what.
"Caroling?" He frowned. "Singing? Singing?" The boil huffed in annoyance and curled his hands in clawlike motions, the green ring on one glinting faintly. "Not fair! Can't sing!" He had half a mind to knock the mug out of Uru's hands for saying such a thing. Even Brenna got a wounded look, as if it were an offense to him that she was apparently good at it. "What's it even prove?"
xxPhiferWolf

"Caroling? Like singing holiday songs? Oh come on, I don't know any holiday songs! I can sing, but I can't sing something I don't know!" She squawked as she flailed helplessly beside the older alumni. She sang regularly, she sang whenever she could. But she only sang if she knew the words. Otherwise, it was just humming and underbreath words. The pair of them played music and sang a lot in their alone time, but this was different.
She never caroled. She turned and pointed at Wrex, "It proves nothing. Not everyone can sing, it is unfair and gives advantages to people like myself who can. It proves nothing. It is a tactic to discourage and a poor attempt to fix points to houses that may not be doing well."
The agitation and aggression, the frustration and panic between the two of them made the older demon huff. "Do the best you can. The contest after that is a fight. Make it through this and you'll get a chance to take your frustrations out from this event in the next." He said calmly as he stared out to the field where Damien sat. His eyes trained on the green boil.

Wrex continued to pout nonetheless, though at least Brenna was smart enough to agree with him. At least he could fight it out afterwards; Jack knew he had built up enough frustration to want to rend something apart. "Maybe will be lucky and targets will look like elves," he said, licking his lips. (Because he was cold? Hungry? Both?)
Maybe someone was selling food around here...Speaking of. "Have booth up?" Wrex asked. "We do! Should come byyyyy! Have good eats, good prizes!"
