Eidil was perhaps not as foolish as her best friend. When their new teacher, a rather cute Litch, told them they could use calculators, she dug through her backpack to find her sparkly blue calculator. She'd had it since she was a freshling, and no matter how dirty it got, she refused to give it up. It was just too precious to her! Eidil was in love with science, there was no doubt about that, but science didn't mean being a mathematician. It meant knowing which tools you could use to do the math for you. That was permissible. The teacher had even said it! So that was fine then. She cracked her knuckles, took a deep breath, and dove into the quiz.

Finn kicked his legs a bit and thought about numbers. What was his favorite number? He knew lucky numbers were a thing, since his papa told him about them. But Finn never considered having a favorite number... He tilted his head and covered his mouth with his sweater before finally raising his hand to give his answer. "I guess my favorite number is fourteen! Cause I think one and four are cool numbers, so they're even cooler together!" He smiled, hoping his answer didn't sound really lame.

Luck was not on the young Demon's side. Her test score was terrible. She bit her lip to force the tears back and tried again.
Her score on the second test was much better. Breathing a sigh of relief, she settled in her seat and closed her eyes.

Well, this voice was unfamiliar... did they get a new teacher? This person seemed very... monotone. Lior wasn't a fan of that- he needed vocal tone to tell what people were feeling! Oh well...
He set up his scanner and put his headphones on, then made sure everything was plugged in before he scanned the first question... oh, he knew this!
Carefully he wrote out each answer and his work, then re-scanned the paper with his reader to make sure it was accurate. Finding that it was, he passed it in.
The next class session he was happy to learn he'd got almost a perfect score! He'd have to tell Nimbus about this.

Dahlia swung her legs back and forth. Hm, her favorite number? What kind of question was that? How could someone have a favorite number? She tapped her chin.
"Uhhhm, I guess I like fifteen the best!" She exclaimed. "Because three fives makes fifteen and that's like have three big groups of people to hang out with. I like that idea!"

Sequoia wasn't sure if she had a favorite number. It didn't seem to be an easy thing to think about, either. She could easily say what her favorite plant was or her favorite snack, but her favorite number? That was tough. It was like asking her to pick a favorite thing from a box of stuff she couldn't see. It was kind of... Weird.
"... I like 2." She said, with a slow nod. "Two is a nice number because it's a pair. Two pieces of candy, two best friends, two bouquets of flowers. It's a good number."

Zephyr's entire body stiffened. Oh man, he hated tests, espescially math tests! The numbers were so confusing and showing your work took up half the page! He tapped his foot nervously as he was handed the work and found his shoulder shooting up to his ears. Ah! He didn't recognize any of this! Why didn't he study when he had the chance? He was going to to fail!
"Oh man, oh man, oh maaaan..." He chattered, practically guessing through each question. He hoped Mr. Judas would let him try again!

After his miserable failure the first time around, Zephyr sat back down at his desk with another copy of the quiz. Alright, now all he had to do was focus and relax. This was a quiz, not the end of his life, and he didn't need to panic so much about it. With a few deep breaths, he started again.
"Oooh, so that was the answer, sheesh!" He heaved, shaking his head. "Man, if I'd thought this through the first time, I wouldn't feel so dumb right now."
This time around, his score had been a thousand times better than before, but not as high as he had hoped. This meant that he really needed to buckle down and study, just in case of surprise tests like this in the future. He didn't want to repeat this sort of scenario ever again!

A test... Well, Shaxio wasn't exactly bad at math, even if it wasn't his favorite. He needed it for what he wanted to do in the future, so he might as well not complain about it. Testing their skills was necessary, even if it was kind of bothersome.
He filled out his test dutifully, and then turned it in to Judas. The next class period he was a little disappointed to get such a low score, he'd sworn he had gotten more right? Oh well. He supposed he'd better study some more.

Seoul couldn't really figure out why a number would be so important as for people to have a 'favorite' one. They didn't like numbers, not one bit. But, an assignment was an assignment. Twirling a strand of their hair around a clawed finger, they pondered for a good bit before answering. "One. Because one isn't a lot of everything, but it's not nothing~"

What was her favorite number? That was a tough one! The Freshling sat there looking thoughtful for a moment before getting a smile on her face.Of course she knew the answer to that! It had been obvious! When the teacher turned to her she grinned up at him and bounce in her seat. "Two! Because then no one is lonely any more!"

Arya at first gave the teacher a slightly disbelieving look when they were told to say what their favorite number was and why. He sat there for a moment before his trusting nature took over and he was left to think over what his answer would be. There were too many numbers to choose from! In the end he just picked one of the two he had narrowed it down to on random when he was called on. "Eight, since it's an even number and if you turn it sideways it can look like a mask."

Shannan bit back the whine she wanted to give voice to when the teacher said they would be doing a test. When she got the test paper she let out a sigh and started on it, her right leg bouncing up and down under the table as she concentrated on solving as many correctly as she could. While math was never a strong suit of hers, she hoped she did well enough to pass the test, especially since she was allowed to use her calculator.

Kyleigh fidgeted in her chair nervously. She hoped that she would pass this quiz. She was usually fairly good at math, but she still worried. Probably too much. The calculator would help. It shouldn't feel so much like cheating when the teacher said they could use them, but Kyleigh would try to do as much as possible without it.

Okay, well that plan fizzled. An embarrassed flush colored the pale Fallen's face as she pulled her calculator closer and tried the quiz again. She was quite thankful for the chance to re-take the quiz.
