Benji had a lot of emotion. It was easy for Vanessa to empathize with that, and she cared for him in the way that all teachers cared for their students. She didn't want to be angry with him.
Teachers are supposed to be patient. And it broke her heart at the same time that it infuriated her, beause she knew that she could not be patient with him in this.
"Chara," she said, raising her voice enough that it filled the chamber of the gym. There was a tremble in it - not of fear, but of the anger that Vulcan struggled to keep in check. "The next time you train with me you better damn well tell me if you've got an injury like that one."
She narrowed his eyes on his back as he shoved things into his bag.
"Get that eye fixed before you come back here." And learn how to control your temper -- but she couldn't say that, when she barely had control of her own.
