...he was back at the maze again.
Luckily he mostly remembered the way they took the first time around so he got through it without any problems. Zephira helped, too, at least at first. Rhys didn't really make any effort to thank her, so in response to that Zephira shut up the rest of the way. Once he was out she told him she remembered the way better than he had and would have helped him more if he was less of an a**, and they had a back-and-forth discussion until they made it to the vine building again.

The vine building seemed to pass just as quickly as the maze had for the exact same reason--he'd been through it already. He was extra careful to avoid those damn pollen-puffing flowers and, with Zephira's warning, did his best to avoid the pools as well, and before he knew it he was out and staring at the lake again.

It was, of course, his luck that a mist decided to roll over as soon as he got to the edge of the lake to hop on to that first stone to start the trek across the lake. It was almost impossible to see, but he could barely make out one stone after the other as he went, and before he knew it he was a lot farther along than just one stone. Rhys took a short break to calm himself down; the adrenaline of taking mini steps of faith was high and he needed to take some deep breaths, but by the time he was ready to keep going the mist had passed and he could see the following stones very, very clearly.
