"You'd help me eh?" He spoke while suddenly hooking an arm around Astridr to bring her close, his other hand reaching up to ruffle her hair. All in playful affection. "With wingmen like us, we'll practically have to beat potential dates away with sticks!"

"You knew I would." She laughed, looking up at him. Only to start laughing. "Gotta have pae there for us to chase away." Astridr hated to be like that but it was getting pretty late in the year. Who was really going to be on the beach this time of the season?
"I think I see some perfect sticks over here to beat them away with~" She pointed to a tree. Looked like it had some branches to spare.

Grinning, he let her go after the hair ruffling. "Nothing ever happens to those who don't try. Keep your spirits up!" At the mention of a tree, he chuckled and jumped. His leaf wings fluttered to life to catch him and carry the male up to the branches. Once up, he snapped two finger thick ones before gliding back down. "One for you, and one for me. Gotta be prepared."

She took the offered branch, grinning before she started to smooth out her hair. "If nothing else we can find another one and have a nice game of limbo." Astridr shrugged. She was about to give up on her hair and undo her customary braid, but the stick in her hand and Leif right next to her... Sounded like a bad idea. all around.

The male chuckled while handing over her branch. "Or maybe we can catch a fish or two." As he spoke he thrust his stick forward in a jab, as if spearing a fish right then and there. "An actual fish. Not a fish lady. How embarrassing that would be."

"If nothing else, we can cook dinner when we get back. Dad and Daddy will know we were out, but productive. Won't get in trouble for it." She grinned, wondering if it would at all be a good idea for her to attempt to stab fish. She'd never performed that feat before. Was too much in the sun for her pale flesh.
"Oh my guardians, what if we accidentally spear a fish lady?" Astridr squeaked, looking up at him. She'd never seen a naiad in the water before, what if they looked just like fish?

"Good idea. I hate when Dad yells, and when papa does that whole, 'Im not mad, Im disappointed'. Which is worse." Not that Sigurd really ever yelled. Just gave stern talking to's.
At her squeak, he blinked before shaking his head. "No way. They'd have to be like, bigger right? It's not like they would shrink from pae sized to fish sized..." But what if they did. He always thought they'd look either like Nereus in the water, or like Aysel. But if they did shrink, and they did look just like fish... "...But...what if we've already eaten naiad before?" "Oh man, I know. I hate it when Dad is disappointed in us." She groaned. Astridr loved her dads, more than anything else on the entire island, but she really hated it when either of them were disappointed in her siblings or her. "You sure Leif? Oh my guardians, what if that's why we can't find anyone we're not related to? We eat them all!" She squeaked, hands going to either side of her head. Albino naiad was freaking out. "Maybe that's why Gran won't eat fish? It's all naiad meat!"Tartara Seabreeze Laughing so hard at them right now XD <3

His eyes widened at her logic, instantly thinking about grandma star. That was a point. That was a big, big point. "No! There's...that cant...Papa wouldn't eat naiads knowing his brother was dating a naiad, right? I mean, what if he accidentally caught and ate Aunt Nereus? Uncle Junior would be furious!" Now he was questioning every meal he ever ate. What if the deer he ate was a transformed pae? The birds? The rabbits even?Dementia Requiem Asumi They're so clueless! lmao

Uncle Junior...did eat fish. And he was dating a fish lady. And. "Oh Guardians, our family are horrible pae. We're monsters." The realization was world shattering to the teen. To the point where he stopped walking when Astridr started pacing, the beach finally in view through the tree line. His mind was reeling, if smoke coming out of ears were a thing he'd be on fire.
When she spoke again his head jerked up to stare at the beach line. He did hear laughter. "Y-yeah...I think so. Lets go." With that he broke out into a run to the treeline, wanting to still be hidden in the trees but see what was going on.Nereus laughed warmly at the waters edge, the waves lapping at her tail. "Can't wait for that walk. But it is so cold!" With that her legs began to glow, and separate. Her tail splitting and reforming into her scaly legs.Aysel fluttered her pink wings, already out of the water to hover, waiting for her mother. How nice of Junior to take them on a walk today!Dementia Requiem Asumi Time to shatter their world.

Astridr squeaked, following her brother. He was faster than she was, but at least she could see his shiny yellow butt running in front of her.
Junior roared, mostly laughing. It came out as a bit more of a bark. The water was so cold he'd transformed into a bear to make the swim. The large white bear reached his head around to n** at Nereus' transforming legs, starting to lick them. It was while he was licking her that the fur started to fall away, bones started to break and bend, returning him to the state he was born. He'd begun to get a measure of control over his inner beast, if only in the sense that his transformations happened almost entirely every time. This time.. It wasn't one of those moments.
"Gnnn.. It'll warm up soon." Came a strained voice, teeth clenched together to keep from grimacing.

Ducked behind a tree, he instantly noted Aysel fluttering above, Nereus laying down, and a...bear? Nereus was going to get eaten! The bear was already chomping down on her...fin...leg...s...Naiads had fish tails in the water. They really were fish. His eyes widened further as the bear started to shift as well. Bones breaking, fur shifting. Turning into... "Oh my guardians...Astridr! Uncle Junior is a bear!" It was true. All pae could be animals. They probably ate a pae and never knew.The sprite winced at Juniors apparent pain. She hated it. Why was it that when Nereus changed, it didn't hurt, but when he did it was excruciating? And why couldn't she change at all? These were questions that bothered her for a while, but kept quiet as to not appear stupid. "You okay daddy?" She knew Junior wasn't her real dad. But he was like a father figure her entire life...so he was her real dad as far as she was concerned.Nereus smiled at the affectionate nips. While in a romantic sense she didn't get a rise from it, she did appreciate contact. Everyone liked to be doted over. She reached forward and gently touched his furry shoulder in comfort even as the fur receded into skin. "Easy for you to say when you're a walking heat generator."
Strange. She got the odd feeling she was being watched.

"Oh guardians, we eat naiads all the time!" She whispered loudly. If Uncle Junior turned into some sort of white bear, that meant they were probably eating pae all the time! No wonder no one else was on the island. Their family was eating them all! "What if the alpaca Gran keeps are enslaved pae?!" White hands were worrying equally white hair. And their family just kept them in the dark about all of this? What kind of pae were they?! Junior smiled, most of the pain of changing gone or receded to manageable levels. "I'm fine Love. The bear doesn't like to go away easy." He chuckled, returning his attentions to Nereus. "How are the fi-" His head turned, staring at the tree Leif and Astridr were hiding behind. Something was there.
"Stay here..." Whatever it was had picked the wrong family to mess with at the wrong time. He could hear the two offenders, just off in the distance.Tartara Seabreeze Of course he can hear them, but can he smell it's family? Nooo, that would be convenient. XD

Full freakout mode. His eyes were as wide as they could go, a hand reaching up to tangle in his curly locks. "G-grandma wouldn't...no. No." His whole life was a lie. How could they keep this from them this whole time? Their whole life! In his panic, he didn't notice their uncle staring directly towards them.She still looked rather worried, but the frown she worried quickly deepened as he suddenly stopped midsentence to stare at something in the trees. "Dad?""Come here Aysel." Junior felt or heard or saw it too. Her feeling was spot on. She quickly stood on her new legs to pull her daughter towards her and back into the protective embrace of the waters until only their heads bobbled up on the surface. Ready to dart if need be.Dementia Requiem Asumi Gotta be plot convenient!
