The Weeping Woods was dismal to say the least, but Rhys went about in search of a shadow to snag a piece from. For a while he only thought he'd been going in circles, but after what felt like hours he realized he actually had been the same left and right signs the entire time. With a grumble he turned and tried (and eventually succeeded) to make his way back to the professor's little camp.

He set out again--he wanted that damned candy, alright--and felt neither here nor there for the most part. Just that same dismal feeling, until a chill went up his sine and he could hear some kind of snarling behind him. The footsteps were faint but there...and getting closer. He didn't wait, of course. He just ran.

He tried to find his way back to the professor, but found he had a bit of trouble this time. He managed after a good while, and he stayed there a moment to decide if he would continue to try catching this piece of shadow for some measly pieces of candy.

He decided that looking for a bit longer couldn't hurt, so he set out and soon enough got lost. Again.

It was only matter of time before whatever it was found him again, and it gave chase when he tried to turn and get a look at it. Naturally, he ran. The breeze was particularly chill considering his outfit...

At some point he passed nearby the professor's camp and thought to lead it back to the guy for sending him on this task. Zephira cackled and approved but he thought better of it, not wanting to get caught in some punishment that could keep him from getting back to Deus. Though if whatever was chasing him actually ate him or something, then he was screwed either way.
