This was going... Unusually well. Too well. Ganeesh looked around, before hesitantly climbing up into a tree. The view wasn't better, sadly, and he climbed back down. "How does a herd of buffalo hide so well, when they're so big and such a problem...?" He was confused, to say the least. How could they just... Go poof like that?

This may take a while at this rate... Let's kick this up a notch - You can roll multiple 100-sided die in a post, one for each lion you have, hopefully we get there faster xD;

Clea didn't like how this was going at all. It should have been a simple operation; find the beasts, get rid of them, and solve the problems at paw. Now she wasn't entirely sure what was happening. Everything was too quiet; too smooth. Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, hoping to catch a glimmer of something without much success at all. This is bad. They should have been here. Were they walking into a trap after all?

Even this far inland it was hard for Wimbi to smell anything other than the salty ocean air. It seemed to ooze into the flora around them, creating something of a veil between the lions and their intended prey. Were the creatures using this to their advantage? It definitely would have been the oddest thing she'd seen this year, but not exactly out of the question. Or maybe that was just her; years of living in the surf had damaged what abilities the lioness had to sniff out anything that wasn't water based.

Nye made a point not to look at the blue lion, and to instead keep moving forward. If she saw him again she might laugh, and that would only attract bad attention.

Maybe the buffalo had already been taken care of by the Kizingo'zaa? Could they hope for such a thing? It certainly would explain the quiet.

The hunt had lasted a little too long. Really, buffalo weren't stealthy creatures. This wasn't making any sense.

Along with the majority of the group, Rytir was getting increasingly agitated. Battle wasn't something that spooked the large male, but this suspense was just unnatural and it was really starting to spike his fur. The tension and fear-scents emanating from his pridemates definitely wasn't helping.

Sha'uri, on the other hand, was going in the complete opposite direction - her anxiety was actually starting to lessen the longer it took to encounter the dangerous herd. Child-like as she was, her mind was starting to think hopeful thoughts - maybe the buffalo had moved on; maybe something else had shooed them away; maybe they had settled down and wouldn't be so angry anymore. Still, she kept her thoughts to herself, knowing she should continue to be silent until someone in authority called off the hunt.

All right. This was getting a bit silly. Kai narrowed his eyes a bit as he paused, letting the sounds of the jungle fill his mind. Had they completely bypassed the buffalo? He had heard them not long ago...perhaps they were moving out of the jungle? Or maybe the other group had found them? Either way, the lack of commotion from ahead of them was starting to get unnerving.

He cleared his throat to try to get a bit of the cottony feel out of his ears. Maybe he was just losing his hearing? No one else seemed to be making a sound, although a few others were starting to look a little worried as well. Were the buffalo sneaking around them and wreaking havoc back on the beach? No...they'd hear the shouts from those who had stayed behind.

She kept moving forward, pushing through the brush with her ear to the ground. The area was becoming more open, with the scent of the ocean giving way to an unmistakable musk that could only belong to the buffalo. What if they were just walking in circles? Reaching forward, she gave her mate a tap and looked around with a shrug of her shoulders. Had he seen something she hadn't?

This much walking on solid ground was making the lioness antsy. She looked around to Buziba, trying to figure out if he'd noticed anything she hadn't because she'd be damned if anything jumped out at her. Wimbi just couldn't fathom how creatures like that could just vanish. "Maybe we're going the wrong way?" She tried to whisper, doing her best to keep quiet.

At this point Nyekundu was ready to go back to the beach. It was obvious to her that whatever the problem had been, it was taken care of by someone else and they should go about trying to find that person instead of the buffalo. Too bad none of the others seemed to feel the same way.

Still nothing. Kai wasn't the talkative sort which was good in most situations, but now he was starting to wonder if someone should say something. Should they try a different direction? Should they shout or roar to try to startle the buffalo into making a noise so they could tell if they were going in the right direction? He kept his mouth closed, though, and hoped the northern group was having a better time of it than they were. Perhaps the buffalo had left and those that needed rescuing were actually safe.

Faatina padded along, following in the midst of the south group. Although normally talkative, Faatina still didn't feel quite right raising her voice in situations involving the pride. Regardless of the fact that the Bahari would always be her home, she knew she was the last lion to be making big decisions like this. Therefore, she chose to remain silent, instead following the will of their little pack without question. Glancing about, Faatina huffed quietly. The buffalo, so prominently a nuisance and a danger leading up to this, had mysteriously vanished. How could this be? They were such large, dumb animals it seemed impossible that they could be crafty enough to hide from the split packs of lions. And yet... it seemed to be true. How vexing, Faatina thought.

At the tap Patton looked towards Clea. It was only a brief pause as he took a moment to try to listen once more before he shook his head. Wherever the buffalo were it was not here. He had to wonder if the other group had better luck then them, but even then things seemed to be awfully silent.

The silence before the storm... He thought with a worried frown before moving forward.

Well this was awfully boring. Kaikane frowned as he nosed through the underbrush. What had happened? When they first started off the young lion had almost expected a buffalo around every corner, but now...it seemed that they were in another jungle entirely.

Shaking off the faint nerves that danced along his back the lion pressed on with determination.

"Strange things..." The large bumani whispered ever so quietly under his breath as he pressed forward. Bulkier than most it took all of his effort to try to remain silent through the jungle brush. At this point though he was feeling their walk and if there were no buffalo soon the lion contemplated a break.

Because at this rate by the time they found anything the whole group would be paw sore and tired.

Sneaking off around the sides Avira made certain to keep an eye on the group as he headed off int he shadows around them. Still though no matter where he peered or tried to scent the lion felt nothing. Where did they go? Perhaps the group had wandered around in circles rather than through the jungle? A million ideas flickered through the young lion's head, but he just shook them off before darting through another patch of shadows.

The buffalo were here and they would find them.

Along the shore another lion stirred. Had someone called out for trouble? Frowning, the male started towards where he smelled a moving group of fellow pride members. Why were they going that way? The buffalo perhaps? If so then this was bound to be interesting.

[[As an aside folks, work keeps dragging me back and forth at the moment so my posts will be super slow, just bypass me when you have to and I'll catch up.]]

|| Ram & Solomon ||
"Anything?" The white lion asked, ducking under the low lying branches of a tree. So far, it had proven a lot harder to find any isolated buffalo than he had anticipated. Whatever, or whoever, had spooked them...had done enough for them to regroup and this was not a good thing in his eyes. Cutting them off and scattering them would have been far more advantageous, and decidedly less destructive on the whole. It was fine for things to be trampled by one set of hooves but multiple sets... He'd be repairing everything for weeks after this.

"Nothing," Ram remarked with a small sigh. It would have been a lie to say that patience was wearing thin for him, for all intents and purposes he should have chased these beasts out a long time ago. They had long since overstayed their welcome and the very fact that his land had been claimed by prey was somewhat laughable. Any other pridal leader would have had the tenacity to wipe the damn things out by force...and yet here he was letting his own pride be intimidated by these things.

"I will say one thing though," he muttered, his tone a touch testy.

"Oh?" Solomon asked, flicking his gaze back and forth as he surveyed his surroundings.

"Even if the majority scatter I want a good portion of them killed," the blue lion snarled, causing Solomon to gaze at him in alarm. "We've been intimidated by these beasts for too long, the least they can do in penance is feed us," he pointed out.

"Mmmm," Solomon shook his head. "I'd sooner we didn't have rotting meat on the beach though?"

"So we invite friends." Ram's tone was final, and the white lion knew it, better to simply let the huffing hulk of fur settle down in his own time...

This really didn't make sense.

Faatina widened her eyes then blinked them, hard. Were they not working for some reason? Glancing about at the others in the south-headed group, everything still seemed crystal clear. Strange. Then how was it she wasn't able to spot the buffalo? Her gaze moved amongst the other members of her group, hoping to see an expression of recognition or excitement somewhere among them. And yet, nothing. Out on the horizon, however, she could see the clouds moving steadily closer, the dark imposing itself on greater and greater patches of sky. They had to find the buffalo. And quick.

In the almost deafening silence, Rytir overheard the hushed but prickly exchange between Ram and Solomon. The blue male was not envious of Solomon for being the one to handle their leader's irritability. Although, he had to admit he was more in tune with Ram's emotions currently than he was with Solomon's apparent serenity. This search was taking far too long, and he was beginning to get a little grouchy himself. It was all he could do to not snap at his mate for being happy with the lack of action.

Oblivious to her mate's growing ire, Sha'uri trotted along beside him with a smile forming on her maw. She, of course, was remaining silent and cautious so as not to go against the rules, but she was definitely firm in the belief that the buffalo had moved on. There was no way (in her mind) that such a large collection of such large creatures could possibly go undetected for this long.

Where is the storm? Patton almost wanted to laugh at this situation. So far the group had found nothing and from the silence he wondered if the others had fared any better. Surely though there would be buffalo here....there was too much destruction in the jungle. The further the group moved in the more the telltale signs of previous disturbance existed.

They were here....but the question was where?

Had they veered off course? Kaiakane frowned as he hunkered down closer to the ground. Talk about an ominous feeling. Even if he was greedy for action the lion couldn't help shaking something from his shoulders. It almost felt too easy sneaking into such a quiet jungle. Just like swimming before a storm...the ocean waves were quiet and then the next thing a lion knew...the waves would come.

As they continued Buziba frowned, "Perhaps we are moving the wrong way." He whispered quietly. Or was it that the buffalo had heard their group moving forward? Surely such beasts weren't smart enough to outmaneuver them? Honestly at this point the bumani was prepared to head back to the beaches for the day. Yet the thought of other lions in danger didn't settle well for him, "The other group may be having better luck than us."

Avira frowned as he moved forward. Seriously? Anticipation was making the younger lion's skin crawl and he nearly lost it when a glowing pelt, the color of a rising sun, passed into vision. "Hey." He growled quietly in surprise when the lion brushed his side.

"Hmm?" Manohara smiled lazily, "Chill. I'm not the buffalo." He whispered sharply. Of course the male lion had come late to the party, as usual, but even he hadn't spotted anything so far. "Nothing is close to the beach, so I'm guessing they may be in the very center of the jungle." He smirked, "That or we have some magical buffalo here." Perhaps some god's trick? Unless the buffalo had truly decided to just move on...yet he would be more likely to believe in the gods than that.

Now that would make for an interesting tale.

((Throwing Manohara in as well. x3 Hope that's okay. lol trying to get more lions for these tricky dice. He can be lightly injured, but not severely maimed.))

Kai let out a soft huff as they continued to walk. This was just starting to get silly now. Perhaps the buffalo had moved between the two groups and was now having a field day on the beach? He glanced over his shoulder to see if anything had changed behind them, but all he could see now was the jungle. Shaking his head, he turned forward and plodded along again. The quiet lion was about ready to turn around and give up, but he knew if he were in the position of the lions that needed saving, he wouldn't want his rescuers to do that. So on he went, sticking with his group.

The silence was almost deafening as the lioness padded forward, still skirting the edge of the south group hoping to be the first to catch sight of the animals. In all reality, she was using this hunting trip as a possible way back into the pride. She was already back in, yes - technically, she was never out, save for geographically. But she still didn't feel accepted. It was all in her head, Faatina knew, but that didn't make it any less real nor any less important to her to rectify. Thus, she was placing her self in harm's way (potentially - she honestly hoped) in an effort to better her standing in the eyes of others. If only these damned buffalo would show their hides...

Patton found himself sighing quietly as they walked on. If this wasn't one of the strangest situations I've ever been in... His thoughts trailing off he looked towards his mate before gently brushing past her, "Might as well collect some of these herbs while I'm here. Watch my back?" For when and if they did find the buffalo the lion wanted to be prepared to offer any medical aid.

Kaikane almost wanted to turn around and head towards the other side of the jungle. Yet, where were they actually? The younger lion frowned as he glanced around. Was it possible that they had actually gotten lost in their own jungles? Perhaps by not taking the path that most took between the prides the groups had indeed gotten lost? That would explain the lack of buffalo. He glanced towards the trees. Had they passed these before? Oh boy...

Hearing another lion's huff, Kaikane looked at Kai. "Do you think they're walking circles around us?" He frowned, the growing frustration obvious in his expression.

As Avira noticed the darting figure of a lioness skirting the edges of their South group he decided to join her, "Still no sign, right?" He whispered as quietly as possible. Even at this point he found he wanted to just dart out. All these sneaking and still not a buffalo in sight...what was going to happen now? The last thing he wanted to do was back down with the threat still out and about...

His paws were beginning to get tired. Buziba had to shake his head in order to keep his mind straight. He was strong, he could do this. It was just strange, however, how they seemed to be wandering now without purpose. Surely something had to give soon...There's only so much jungle for those beasts to hide in.

They have to be here somewhere. Manohara shook his head as he watched the other lions. Since he was late to the group he still had some extra energy and hope left for the hunt. Out of all the stories he had heard about the tales of the growing buffalo problem it was too unbelievable that they wouldn't run into them soon. Unlike the others who were beginning to get frustrated the relaxed lion found himself instead focused on the best strategy of fighting beasts in this enclosed jungle area.
