Ryan eyed Kat warily. Her good humor usually didn't bode well for others. After all, her idea of fun was sewing cat ears to hunter coats, or just beating the tar out of something. Both seemed to please her. Knowing this, he didn't want to stick should she follow through on any of the thoughts that were currently going through her mind.
"That sounds like a plan." He agreed. Kat could safeguard them from a distance, and Sin and himself could form a protective line and block anything from getting too close.
He was about to ask Sin if he was okay with that idea, when the man pardoned himself and moved away to help what seemed to be another hunter.
"Is that Gale?" He asked, turning to Kat.
Wow, last he saw him he was short. Really short.

Kat nodded to Sin as he ran off to do something, while she checked to be sure the other girl was still breathing. Yep. A-ok. Patting the girl on the head, the Sun hunter looked up to Ryan, following his gaze.
"Whoa! Look at you!" Kat beamed a large grin when spotting the familiar blonde death hunter. Man, had he grown! The last, nearly two years she had seen him, he was shorter. But now it looked as thought Gale had hit his growth spurt. "I think you grew past me in height!" Ah well, it was nice while it lasted, not that she ever poked fun at his height before, even when many others did. Gale may have been short, but was quite a capable hunter- more so than most hunters on the island. "Good to see you again, Gale!"

The first figure that appeared was unfamiliar; Gale gave him a wary look as he jogged up, sliding an arm around the civilian to help lift some of the burden. A part of him was slightly suspicious, even with the hunter coat - after all, they clearly had some traitors in their midst - but a second later, a familiar man came into view, and an even more familiar young woman.
"Ryan?" Gale said incredulously, his brow furrowing. "Kat?"
It had been so long, he'd thought they'd both been reassigned elsewhere, lost in the outposts. He stared at the pair of them and then let out a small snort, a little smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he edged closer and closer to them.
"When did you guys come back?"

Sin helped to carry October over to where the rest of the civilians were. He eased him off of Gale's shoulder and set him as gently as he could next to the other unconscious civilians.
He had seen the wariness in the other hunter's eyes, knowing that it was well-warranted. Even if Sin was given easily towards trusting others, there were others who took more time and needed verification. Still, he gave him a friendly grin. "Sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Sin, a sun hunter at your service." When it was revealed that the other hunters knew each other, he stood back. Ah.. Sin rubbed the back of his neck, feeling somewhat out of place here. It was good that they knew each other. From what he could tell, their names were Ryan, Gale, and Kat.

"When did you grow so tall." He countered, an amused look on his face before he answered the younger man's question. "A little over a week ago." Though whether it was a temporary stay or permanent had yet to be decided. "Anything exciting during our absence?" He asked, tilting his head curiously to the side. But really, by exciting it was clear he meant more along the lines of 'did any serious s**t happen' while he was gone. Knowing Deus Ex. It was highly likely.

"I got back a couple of months ago, but hasn't really had much time to see people. But look at you! It's going to be hard for others to tease you at all now. But of course, I could always kick them in the knee to knock 'em down a peg if they tried that again." She wasn't all too sure when Ryan had left and arrived back, since she was stationed off on her own for a while.
Taking note of Gale's wariness around Sin, Kat waved her hand. "You don't need to worry about, Sin here." She had met Sin a long time ago. It may have only been once, but the guy was pretty decent. But with all the talk of a 'traitor' in their midst, she could understand his caution.
"Sorry, Sin. You already know me, but this is Gale, and Ryan."

Amber eyes flickered briefly over the unfamiliar hunter's appearance, not dismissively, but curious and scrutinizing, now that the suspicion had dissipated. Gale trusted Kat and Ryan, and he trusted their opinions, which meant that, in spite of not knowing this new hunter, he didn't mistrust him.
"Gale," he said with a little nod towards him - Sin - after Kat introduced him, and Gale extended a hand towards the man. "I'm Gale Gentry, but if you hear me over the radio, just refer to me as Earl Grey." He exhaled a breath. "It seems we might have some...questionable contacts."
A muscle in his jaw flexed in frustration, but he pushed it aside. The comments about his height made Gale gave Ryan a pointed look before answering.
"Yeah, quite a few," he said, absently fiddling with Jinhai's ring. "You've missed an awful lot, but it's good to see you. We could use some more level-headed people around here."

When Kat made the necessary introductions, he flashed her a grin that conveyed his thanks. "Good to meet you both Gale and Ryan." Sin took Gale's hand easily, not at all perturbed by the suspicious behavior. "Earl Grey, huh." That was a pretty cool nickname.. made Sin wonder if he should name himself after tea as well. Chai? Lavender? Green tea? On second though.. maybe it didn't suit him. Maybe he should just stick to the normal things. Then he turned towards Ryan to offer his hand in greetings. "You're an pretty amazing fighter. I've said it already but thanks for the help."
"It'd be fun to face you if you stay in HQ for any period of time." A close range fighter against another souned fun in Sin's book indeed.
However, he understood Gale's concerns in terms of distrust and wariness. Even putting aside past events, this whole mission was strange. The reference to past events in the answer to Kat's question made Sin look away into the distance. There did seem to be a lot happening.. More trustworthy hunters would be welcome indeed.

Kat nodded, knowing that to be safe a bunch of the hunters were taking code names. Mostly though, she had been avoiding using the radio all together. The bit of information here and there helped, but most of the time, it was like being stuck with a constant headache of teens screaming in her ear. She didn't like it.
"I have heard some of the chatter on the radio. Looks like we're dealing with more problems than just the current situation here." She didn't know everything that happened, but all she knew that it was big, and likely s**t was going to hit the fan when they got back to the island.

Ryan met the pointed stare with a small apologetic gesture. He had almost forgotten that height was a touchy subject for the younger hunter, and honestly he couldn't blame him after how he had been treated in the past. Though now he focused on Gale's answer.
"Really now?" He expected it, but he honestly really was hoping for little to know news, concerning their headquarters. "Should there be time later, I'd be very interested on hearing the details, if you don't mind."
As for Sin. He wasn't normally used to praise, but when Sin offered the invite for a spar, Ryan gave him a bright smile. "Tell you what, should we manage to get out of this mess, you schedule a time and if I'm free, I'll spar with you."
