This man was on his last legs--it was so clear that the Framework Cat could taste it. There was no way he would be able to continue on in this fight for much longer--it was impossible. The mere thought of this was putting a bit of pep in the creature's step. As it had lunged forward to strike the man, the Framework Cat found that it was able to successfully knock aside his defence with ease, smashing the man's arm out of the way with its own head before it managed to clamp down on his ribs. The Cat felt the ribs cracking beneath the bite, and it could taste the blood as it flowed into its mouth. As it was about to dig deeper and try to pull a large chunk of flesh and bone off of the man his sword hilt came down and crashed into the Framework Cat's eye, causing it to roar out in pain and annoyance. The man managed to dodge out of the Cat's reach shortly after, and even as the Clasper went to attack the wounded man, the man was able to crouch to avoid the strike, even with all of his injuries. The Framework Cat had to admit--it hadn't seen a man like this in quite some time. However, this man was finished. He had put up a valiant fight--and he had wounded the Cat pretty badly, but it would not stop the A.I. Core from ending his life. The blood dripped from the Framework Cat's mouth as it prepared itself once more for the man's incoming attacks. He was shaking on his feet, and yet, even as he seemed completely and totally distracted, standing there, he was going to keep fighting.
The attacks that came from this man had changed. Moments ago he had been fearless--he had been striking with all his strength and ignoring the pain from his body--now he was stumbling over his own feet and throwing sloppy attacks like he had just picked up his sword for the first time. He stabbed at the Framework Cat's neck, but the core easily evaded the attack, crouching low and moving its head to the side once more, as it had done when the man attacked its head before--it seemed that the man had become too tired to really think about what he was doing anymore. It was a sad way to end the fight. The Framework Cat had hoped that this man would keep fighting like a pro until the end, but he was too far damaged to put up a decent resistance anymore. The second attack, after the man recovered from falling over himself was the most useless attack the Framework Cat had ever seen. The slash was not strong enough to do anything, so the Cat didn't even move. It let the sword bounce off of the hard wooden framework of the Cat's body, and it almost laughed as it analysed the man's movements. It was time to end it. The Framework Cat jumped forward and aimed to bite into the man's throat. If he could not longer put up a good fight, it was time to end his miserable life.

The Clasper had been able to avoid every single one of the man's attacks that he had thrown at him before--this was true--but there was something insanely aggravating about never being able to hit you opponent. The human had hit the Framework Cat once, even, and yet the Clasper stood there, not being able to actually land a blow on the b*****d. How frustrating it was. But it would not let it get him down--even if he was not landing the blows, it knew that the man was almost dead. He might not have made the strikes, but he was distracting the man and throwing him off so that the Framework Cat could move in and land the attacks--that was how he would justify it to himself anyways. As the Cat managed to bite down and tear into the mans' ribs, the Clasper winced--that would hurt. But, even in his injured state, the Clasper swung hard for the man's head and managed to do nothing at all. The human was still--even as injured as he was--able to duck out of the way of the attack. It were as if the gods were laughing at the A.I. Core--completely and totally mocking him as the man was able to slip out of every single attack the way he did--no matter what state of mind or body he was in. The Clasper clenched its hand and it tried to calm itself as it prepared for the next wave of attacks. The Framework Cat lunged in and attempted to bite the man's neck--clearly trying to end this fight. As the Cat went in to strike the man's vitals, the Clasper swung around the back and slammed its weighted hand towards the spine of the enemy. Perhaps it could break the man's body and end t before the Framework Cat did. It wanted to at least get one strike in--it needed this.

As Acel threw his attacks at the Framework Cat, deep down he knew that they would not land. He knew that they were too weak to affect the body of the enemy, but he could not stop himself--he would not. He had died from these bastards already before, and he would not be dying again without fighting! His first death, he was dragged away from his family, having been nothing but useless in the efforts to end the fight. He had been useless, and he would never feel that way again! He would never die again without at least being able to do something. However, even these thoughts were fleeting ones. He had come out here to discover what the world was like--he had seen a beautiful city of the likes that he had never known existed. The stone pillars and the old styling of it all was incredible. But, none-the-less, he hadn't been able to beat even one of these damned A.I. Cores. Not even one. As he had thrust his blade toward the enemy, the Framework Cat managed to dodge it easily, shifting its weight to avoid the attack with ease. Then, as he stumbled over his own feet, heading toward the rear of the enemy to strike its hips, the Framework Cat didn't even avoid it--allowing it to harmlessly bounce off of its body. This was the true show of Acel's weakness, and a slap in the man's face--he was not strong enough--not yet.
As soon as his attacks had bounced off of the creature's body, it retaliated with force, pouncing at Acel and landing on the man's chest. As he hit Acel, the man fell backwards, hitting the pavement hard, and as he looked up at the feline core, he knew what he was here to discover--he knew what he needed from this entire ordeal. He realized then that this had not gone to waste. He had not wasted any time at all--instead, he had gained valuable lessons that he would utilize in his future endeavours. He needed a team. That was what he lacked. Perhaps he could grow strong by himself--yes--but one strong man against a world of A.I. Cores would do nothing. If he could beat one or two alone, it would not help him against five or ten. There were many more A.I. Cores out there than baiters. Hell, he had been found by them in minutes after he arrived...he needed other people if he wanted to be safe. The old man had sent him on a suicide mission--but Acel could not tell if this lesson was the reason, or if the man truly wanted to send him out to die. The way he had looked at him before he had given Acel the mission had bothered the man. But now was not the time to think about it. Now--he had other things to deal with. The Framework Cat lunged downward and bit deep into the throat of the man, the fangs entering his neck hurt at first, and the blood gurgled into his mouth, and he remembered then what dying had felt like the first time. When he had been murdered by the A.I. Core with the greatsword. When it had been plunged through his chest, and his heart had been destroyed. Now--now was like that time, and he had already died before--what did he have to fear now? He felt his chest heating up, as his Code Core connected to the Headquarter's rebirthing chamber, and as the Framework Cat chomped down once more into his neck, Acel's body exploded into light, turning into a vast sea of code--swirling in the area around the Framework Cat and the Clasper, and the two A.I. Cores looked on in wonder as the man seemed to deteriorate into code the same way that they were capable of doing. As the code hovered for a moment, it suddenly lurched into movement as Acel's data was rocketed back to the Rebirthing Center, where he had already been locked on by heir signal and teleported in. As his body was reconstructed, Acel would be unconscious for the first few minutes, his body's cell structure reorganizing and properly starting his body back up.

Alley didn't pay much attention as the girls talked about Pyra's weapon. She didn't really understand some of what they were talking about. She was going to need to do a lot of research it seems. Though she didn't have much interest in weapons though. As the scientist said, she was her own weapon when she asked about having something to help her fight off her test enemies they always threw at her. Alley gave a small smile at the thought of new friends. That wasn't something she thought was going to happen so soon in her new life. She figured she was going to struggle on her own for a while before she could get anyone to actually go around with her. Now she was doing her first mission with two girls that were her age.
Alley looked at Pyra as she spoke about how she couldn't stand as much hair as she had. Alley grimaced a bit. “I just have it long because it was something I could control.” She said simply, though she wondered if that was the wrong thing to say. Surely that would raise their suspicions. Though it was the trust. The scientists controlled everything in her life, food, reading material, and even her clothes. The one thing she could keep control was her hair because they would ask her if she would like her hair cut. She was surprised that she and Mirai had the same A.I. Cores starting off. Alley raised her eyebrow when Pyra asked if she had named her Core. Was that something you were suppose to do? Alley looked at Mirai who seemed to be trying to figure out her Core's name. 'Oh oh! Call me Babe' Alley farrowed her eyebrows in annoyance. Dear God that name again. Serious? She realized they were waiting for her to answer. “He's just.... annoying.” She said with a sigh, looking a little surprised when Mirai laughed at her suggestion. 'Awww babe, why you gotta be like that?' The Uni-Blaster whined in her, making her shake her head even more in annoyance.
Alley was glad to start walking around, even if it was back to the offices but she figured if she stayed sitting for much longer, she would possibly fall asleep in the restaurant. Alley followed Mirai to the office where she asked about a mission. Athens sounded familiar. She couldn't place it, maybe she read about it somewhere in her few documentaries that they allowed her to read. She listened as Mirai explained the mission, hearing that they would have to wait until it got dark. Would they be alright? Alley didn't have a problem with the dark, but that was due to her altered eyes. She would just need to push it and help them if the lights didn't help them see well. Pyra appeared, holding some kind of metal object in her arms. She raised her eyebrows, but didn't say anything. She listened to Mirai repeat herself at first, knowing it was for Pyra's benefit. Alley nodded that she understood the mission, following them to the portals, paling at the thought of using them again. She doubted that there was another way to go there since Mirai headed right to them. She sighed before climbing onto the portal, feeling the same twisting sensation to her stomach as she was teleported to Athens. She soon found herself on the floor, throwing up in a well timed waste basket.

"Overbearing parental figure?" Seraphina asked Alley about her being able to control her hair length. Turning a quirked brow at Mirai's code core gauntlet, the way it used audio snippets to speak was very reminiscent of an old Transformers movie specifically Bumblebee, one of the Autobots, did the very same thing."Uncreative indeed. Bumblebee." It was interesting to watch Mirai interact with her Uni-Blaster, they seemed to get along, Alley, on the other hand, seemed to down right despise her Uni-Blaster, which made Pyra wonder about how everyone's H.A.L.F. went, how differently they must have been. Goliath could barely speak let alone annoy her, or have much of a conversation really... It was mostly just her taunting and "Hulk Smash!" "Hmm... I don't know if I could get rid of the big Lug." Pyra mused aloud at Mirai's comment about picking their own cores, Goliath, meanwhile, appeared to be asleep. Do A.I.'s sleep? 'Zzz... Zzz... Zzz...' Well judging by the sawing logs they must, or it's just faking it to avoid the topic at hand.
Retuning her attention to the world around her she noticed that they were already back at Headquarters, mentioning that she needed to arm up she went off towards the armory. And couldn't help smiling like a goof at Mirai calling her 'Strawbs' again, Pyra had to admit the small ryhme was cute and with it came a warm feeling. No. Not just a feeling, a fondness for the Japanese woman. Slightly turning her head and glancing over her shoulder she could just see Mirai watching, sashaying a little more Pyra gave Mirai something to stare at before rounding a corner down a different hallway. Giggling like mad, her face flushed Seraphina had to take a minute to collect herself before continuing to the armory.
Gear in tow, Pyra headed up to the offices to catch up with her teammates. 'Guess it really was a good idea to come out and become a baiter!' Waving she jogged through the offices, grinning at Mirai's appraisal of her load out. "Oh yeah! Isn't she just marvelous darling!" Her full fledged accent coming out again she smiled warmly at Mirai. "She's a B.A.I.T.R. custom design! Apparently they just released it earlier this week!" Pyra gushed on explaining the statistics of the BA101 and Mk.500. Then Mirai briefed over their mission to investigate suspicious activity suspected to be A.I. in origin, possibly a base. "Ooo! Athens, back to Europe already!" Walking into the teleporter room made and uneasy feeling creap up, but knowing what was coming helped Pyra retain her lunch while she got broken down on a molecular level. Alley wasn't so lucky but a fast handed tech supplied a convenient trash bin. Coughing Pyra stepped out of the teleporter and checked over her gear.

Mirai pondered for a long while the context of everything that Alley said. To be honest, it was hard to believe anything that the woman was telling them. She had been keeping secrets ever since they met...well...Mirai thought...maybe that was just her paranoid side.
She had issues trusting people...but how many people just showed up out of a BAITER test in nothing but rags and dirty feet? No weapons. Nothing at all. She had been running through a forest, apparently, though they had no idea what from. She didn't know many things that the average human being would know. To top it all off...she apparently had no control over her life except how long her hair was? Did she grow up in Rio or something...in one of those ******** up jails? I mean, it had been a joke at first, but now she wasn't so sure. Why else would she be so secretive?
So, she either didn't grow up in one of the cities--living a secluded life in one of those bush-league outside camps--and she was embarrassed about it, or something...very strange happened to this woman. She wasn't so much worried for her, or sorry for her, as she was worried that this girl was going to turn around and shove a knife into her neck around the next corner. She had to be able to trust the people around her...or she wasn't going to be able to keep herself around them.
When Pyra called the Uniblaster 'Bumblebee', Mirai raised an eyebrow. She hadn't ever heard of that, before. She didn't know if it was an age-old reference that she had missed, or if it was a common knowledge thing that she had missed...either way, she had definitely missed out on that one. Bumblebees, as far as Mirai knew about, were large insects that carried pollen from flower to flower. She would have to ask about that one later.
That thick accent come not long after, when she began talking about how marvellous the gun was. Mirai couldn't really argue with that. It looks like a hell of a weapon, but she just couldn't help how much she enjoyed getting her hands dirty.
She took a deep breath as one by one, they all began to arrive at the destination. She had been the first one through, and she felt her breath catch in her throat as she was materialised on the other side of the portal, in Athens. Amazing technology, just like the stuff she used for her dimensional drawer, but, she never imagined she would be going into one like that. She wondered what was on the other side of her own creation...did it lead to somewhere else, or was it just a separate little world in there? Man...she needed to send a camera through into that little b*****d one day and satisfy this newfound curiosity.
As Alley came through, it was obvious that she couldn't quite hold her lunch, and she went to a near-by trash bin to expel whatever was in her stomach at the time.
Pyra was next in line, and she held herself together pretty well, managing to actually keep her stomach in order and as she began checking over her gear, Mirai felt a little tingle, watching her go over her weaponry as if it were second nature to her. She seemed rather shy and meek, but over the last couple of hours, she was actually coming out of her shell a little bit and managing to really open up. Maybe she wasn't the little girl she seemed to be, more often than not.
She bit her lip, thinking about it, but did so in a manner that she knew nobody would see it. Hell...she hadn't felt a woman's lips in...weeks. Though, she couldn't ever really count it as anything serious. She didn't want to show her body to someone she wasn't committed to...which didn't help because she hadn't been able to bring herself to commit to anyone. She didn't know how. A few little flings with girls from the gangs had kept her desires sated. The weed sometimes made her randy, but she knew how to handle herself so she didn't make some sort of stupid mistake. And mistakes came easy when there was a sexy, young, strawberry blonde woman shaking her a** at you. She had women approach her before, sure, but she hadn't been in any sort of state of mind to accept the come-ons. But...she was trying to turn over a new leaf right?
But what if she didn't want to? What if she tried to find the strength to open herself up and she failed...what if she slipped back into the streets and gangs? Heh...well, if she did that, they would kill her after what she had done to them.
Either way...she had to shake it all off for now. No use focusing on these details right now. They had a mission to work through. Though, they did have the small little detail of needing it to be dark before they could really do much of anything.
It was anyone's guess when it would be when you got to the other side of the portals. As far as Mirai could tell, the portals had the chance of distorting time and space as you went through, which means you could technically end up returning home after a week long mission, and find that it had only been a day on the other side. Other times, it worked flawlessly and there was no differential at all. Either way, it was day-time now. And the sun wasn't exactly hanging on to its last light. They had to figure out what to do in the meantime.
"Alright, so, looks like it'll be awhile before those lights start up, so we have some time to kill." She scratched the back of her head for a moment, fighting whether or not to ask Alley about it...why didn't she have control? Where did she come from? They were outside of the city now, no old men watching her from the corner of the room.
She didn't know this girl...she didn't have any reason to pry. As long as she didn't try anything, then Mirai was fine with letting it be. She just had to be wary of a knife in the back, for now...but even then...she seemed far too nice to be dangerous.
"This place is freaking crazy. Have you guys ever seen anything like it? Man. You came from around here, huh, Strawbs?" Her body was feeling a little heavy from the burnout of the weed, but she knew she would be alright. The ruins of Athens...it used to be a huge landmark, in the old world. There were tales of giants fighting with lightning bolts and riding on flying horses. At the end of the day, they were just stupid stories, sure, but it was kind of surreal to actually be standing where those myths were birthed.
She took a deep breath, allowing herself to take it all in, and a grin split her features as she did, allowing her childlike wonder to take over for a moment. She had spent most of her life inside, or on the streets. Never in such a free, breezy, empty place like this. I mean...sure, she had been alone, and her apartment was rather empty...but outside noise always came in from Shanghai. This was different.
It was peaceful. Perfect. She could almost sit down and settle there.
She looked over to Alley, the same grin on her face as she did. "Hey, Alley! We could always check to see if there are some new digs here for you? Gotta be something that doesn't look like it's been through a forest a few times." She said with a snicker as she nudged the girl, to show she was just kidding around.

Alley groaned as her stomach empty the wonderful lunch she had gotten in she wasn't sure how long. The worst thing since that whole pain tolerance test the scientists committed on her to see if she had a higher tolerance due to her altered DNA. This went up with it because of mostly the devastation of losing such wonderful food. It was so much better than what they brought her in the lab. She was loving this new world she found herself in, but this teleporting thing was really ruining it for her. She slowly raised her head, groaning once again as the sickness went away. She sighed as she wiped her mouth off with the back of her hand. She could only glare in anger, looking away from them in embarrassment. None of them lost their lunch, was it only her? Maybe it was due to her not being use to teleporting. They would certainly have more opportunities to do so than she ever was.
Alley looked around them, not missing the look Mirai gave her when she said something about killing time. She didn't know what that phrase meant, but Alley knew that there was a hidden meaning behind it. Taking in the area, she took in a deep breath as she observed. New scents, great. She sniffed around, trying to not make it obvious. She glanced at Mirai when she told Pyra that the place was crazy. Alley merely shook her head at Mirai's question, though she couldn't help but say “Place looks like it's going to fall at any moment.” She was use to her lab room where it was clean and intact, no crack to be seen. Now here she was, looking at a place that seemed to have cracks everywhere you looked.
Alley looked at Mirai, confused once again what came out of the woman's mouth. “What the Sun do you mean by digs. I don't plan on digging anything.” She said. Seriously, what language was this woman speaking. She didn't understand any of it.
Mirai explained that she had meant clothes, making Alley shake her head. “Then why not just say that? Why try to come up wit a different word for it?” She growled in frustration. She was going to have a hard time getting through this new life. She just knew it. She began to follow the girls, hanging back a bit. She waited to make sure Pyra wasn't looking before grabbing Mirai's arm. Mirai was quick to pull her arm out of her grip, Alley didn't fight to keep a hold, the movement told her all she needed to know. Mirai was beginning to distrust her. It was probably because Alley kept screwing up her words. She never had to hide what she thought or wanted to say, now she needed to and Mirai was trying to get figured out. She had to stop her before she ended up getting herself hurt.
“Listen, stop with the stares.” Alley said quietly so Pyra wouldn't hear.
Mirai came closer, obviously getting the hint that she didn't want this to be a loud conversation. Mirai was quick to point her finger at her, speaking in a hushed tone. "I knew it! I knew there was something about you! The way you showed up just out of nowhere being chased out of a forest! You're just a big damn mystery." Alley couldn't change how she showed up, but she was determined to make sure no one was getting hurt because of her.
“I never said I was being chased, you came to that conclusion yourself. And I'm a 'mystery' because it's for your safety. I don't know what will happen if you find out and I'm not about to have you two hurt because YOU can't let things be the way they are. I suggest your learn to accept the way things are, instead of trying to make them the you want them to be.”
"I don't want to make anything the way I want them. I don't want to change things, just to to get to know the people I am hanging out around." Alley shook her head. “Trying to get knowledge is like changing things. You're changing what you know and what you want to know is too dangerous. I'm not going to hurt you, since that's obviously what you're afraid of. I like you two, and I'm trying to keep you safe by keeping my mouth shut. I suggest you do the same with your mind.” Alley growled. She was getting angry. Why couldn't this girl just listen to her? It was for her safety. But Mirai continued to push it, making Alley have to hold back the canine growl that was growing in her throat. Alley could only glare at Mirai as she spoke. "You know nothing about what I am afraid of, Alley. Don't pretend to. I just know from enough experience not to get close to people who don't want you to know anything about them. They put either a knife in your back, your heart, or your throat."
Alley shook her had, knowing what she needed to do. “Then don't get close to me, that would be better. We'll just make this our first and last mission together. Sound fair?” Alley whispered, feeling something inside her sink. Maybe her stomach, while she knew her stomach didn't sink inside her, it just felt like it was. But she couldn't risk her life and Pyra's just for the sake of Mirai's idiotic curiosity. "Suit yourself, girl. I just thought you might be worth knowing is all." Mirai shrugged at the suggestion, making Alley feel as if she was on her own. Didn't seem like she cared, but whatever. If she just wanted answers, she wasn't getting them. She would probably need to see about a different home, away from her and Pyra. She didn't trust that Mirai wouldn't leave things be, especially if she stayed so close.
Alley let Mirai walk away as she thought about it. It wouldn't be hard, just apologize to the robot thing at the hotel. Maybe say something came up and she needed to move out. Easy enough. Besides, she needed to find Thre. Her head jerked up, finally remembering about the teenager. She hadn't seen her at all. Did she make it through the test? Surely she did, the alien could take of herself. Surely. Alley stared off to the distance, worry on her face. She needed to find out, as soon as they were done with this mission, she needed to hunt around and find out what happened to Thre.
Alley turned back to the girls and followed Mirai back to rejoin Pyra.
"Hey babe, not trying to infere, but seriously, don't think she's one of the scientist dudes.” Alley heard the Uniblaster say inside her head.
“Shut up, when did I ask for your opinion?” She growled to it.
“You're cute when you're angry babe.”

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford
Mission: Athens Investigate A.I. activity.
Seraphina ran over her mental checklist, training had made it natural, almost instinctive, to make sure her gear was good to go and that everything was where it should be. Acheron had stressed the importance of "Equipment upkeep," as he called, the double and triple checking of one's weapons and other equipment. Preparedness could be the difference between living to fight another day and a shallow grave. Like in most wars their milita held a small token for their fallen, a rifle with a helmet hanging on it would be your tombstone. Shaking her head trying to expell the memories of those dark times, which didn't really work, Pyra instead looked to the present to distract her mind from the images of those warrior memorials. Alley turned her head away quickly, looking around Pyra paused, the it occurred to her Alley must be embarrassed about losing her lunch. "Sorry Alley, I've always had an iron stomach. Don't feel bad about the food, Greek food is also good!"
Walking outside, the sun still hanging in the sky, they had some time to kill that was for sure. Looking around Pyra let out a long whistle. "Blooby hell! Time sure took it's toll on this place!" But it wasn't only time that had whittled away at the ancient city, Athens carried the scars of many a battle. War wounds both new and from long ago, the signs were evident to her keen eyes as she scanned the environment mentally marking spots with tactical advantages. Even with the devastation of the ruins around them, she couldn't deny how beautiful it was here, a sublime beauty surrounded by a peaceful calm. "Yeah, I'm from Europe but we didn't have these kinds of ruins. This stuff is ancient! I'm surprised it's still standing." Pyra replied, not knowing it she was getting ahead of the other two she went up to one of the more sturdy looking structures, it had a bit of staircase intact around the top and was the tallest point around for at least fifty meters.
Pyra smirked and said. "Watch this!" Little did she know that she was talking to herself as the others had disappeared into what used to be an alleyway and were conveniently hidden from view. Climbing up a few of the fallen rocks at the bottom, she was then able to scamper up to the top of a broken section of wall. Giggling Pyra was thoroughly enjoying herself, like she wasn't armed to the teeth and in a hostile environment where you could get jumped by rogue A.I.s, she didn't let that thought put a damper on this. So she continued to parkour up the ruins, easily making it to the staircase and walking up to to find the most beautiful view she'd seem. Pausing she drank in the site, the ruins parted to the west and the sun still a ways above the horizon was still turning the clouds around it amazing shades of orange, purple, and red, all mixed with the blue of the sky. "Simply breathtaking." She said quietly to not disturb the moment.
Digging out her mother's old camera she adjusted some settings and took a nice picture. "One for the memories..." Stashing the camera back in its hard case she looked up and smiled, then made her way up to the tip top of the ruin, and let out a loud 'Woo!' As she threw her arms up over her head making a V and giggling like mad. "Victory is mine!""What are you doing?" Alley asked her head tilted to the side like a curious canine. "We can only hope victory is that easy. Just don't fall, or you might break that pretty little rump of yours." Mirai quips then adds under her breath, "Or your heart..." Slowly lowering her arms Pyra smirked at Mirai, "Well... First I was getting a better vantage point, then I looked at the view, which is really nice by the way. So I was posing, ya know 'V' for victory! ...yay..." Mirai smiles back and points down the next street and she moves that way rather quickly, something must've caught her eye.
"You're about as bad as Ilya and Thre." Alley shakes her head, but a smile spreads across her lips anyway. "Who are they?""They're a couple of kids I grew up with later in my adolescent years." Pyra hops down the ruins very sure footed and plops down next to Alley "That sounds nice. You miss them don't you?" Alley shrugs as she leans on the ruins next to Pyra. "As long as they're safe, I'm fine. I'll write them a letter." Pyra smiles and offers her hand. "Come on, I want you to take a look at this view."" I'm not too keen on heights actually, at least not without four walls to keep me where I am." Pyra's face falls a little as she wanted to share the view with someone. "Okay I can respect that... It is a bit precarious up there.""I'm sure the view is nice, I actually think the view now is nice too!" Alley smiles at Pyra which causes her face to blush noticeably as she smiles back. Which in turn causes Alley to frown, "Your face got really red, are you feeling sick?" Pyra's voice kicks up an octave as she speaks, "I'm fine, darling!""Darling?" Pyra, suddenly self conscious about calling Alley darling. "Oh you don't like... I'm sorry Alley it's just a figure of speech from where I'm from..." Pyra trails off nervously waiting for Alley to respond. "Ah, I see. I'm still learning the speech patterns out here. like digs....""Heh, yeah that just means clothes."
Pyra got up stretching out her body, and patting over her gear making sure she still had everything. "Right, right multiple meanings." Pyra nodded as they started walking in the direction that Mirai went. "Yeah, new cultures will do that.""How many cultures are there anyways?""Uhh... A lot... It would be hard to separate certain ones to be able to count them all..." Alley lets out a long deep sigh, at that. "Late night reading it seems...""Yeah, if ya want a little help don't be afraid to ask." Pyra offered it would be kinda fun to help Alley and learn more about cultures herself. "I'm use to getting info on my own.""Okay well, still the offers out there if you want to take me up on it." Pyra replied hopping that Alley would take her up on her offer. About then Pyra spotted Mirai in the distance. Pyra was surprised at how much Mirai smile struck her as Mirai popped her head out of the door of a shop and yelling down the street. "Yo! When you're done with your pow-wow come on over here. I found those digs!"

After her conversation with Alley, Mirai turned and walked back the way they had come, towards where Pyra had been. Before they had left, she was just starting to climb up onto one of the buildings, and then, as they returned from their discussion, there she was, perched up on top of the building with her arms in the air, yelling to the skies that Victory was here. She made her comment beneath her breath, like if she whispered it quietly enough, it might not be true. But she knew the looks that Pyra had been giving her. She knew that light giggle that accompanied a gaze that lingered a second too long. Pyra had a crush, Mirai knew, and she was afraid that if the girl got her hopes to high, she was going to get crushed.
She doubted that her and Alley would see too much of each other, either, after they got out of this place. Alley made that much clear enough. Mirai didn't really care too much, when it came down to it. She had met the girl only a few hours before, so it wasn't like they had grown to be best friends. She didn't need best friends...just people she could trust, who would stab her in the back like that god damned, gorgeous a*****e of hers.
She clenched her fists, but as soon as she thought about him, she also thought about her...and she couldn't quite be angry anymore. Alley and Pyra started striking up a conversation and Mirai smiled. She didn't see Pyra as the type to try to dig too deep into the secrets...she might not even have picked up on the little things that paranoid ol' Mirai had managed to. So, perhaps those two would still be able to find common ground and be friends.
She let those two go about and chat with each other, while she walked off for a bit, exploring the ruins. The first door she opened yielded a massive cloud of dust as the door fell forward into the darkness and clamored against the emptiness of the room. She peered inside the dark space, though she could barely make out what was inside. After she stepped into the room, though, she realized she was inside an old record shop. Mirai looked down at the vinyls fondly. Her mother had once told her, on one of those rare times they had a real conversation...that vinyls had the best ever recorded sound when it came to music. That nothing could beat them.
"Go on! Give it a go!" The radio voice echoed from the gauntlet, suddenly. Mirai smiled slightly as she looked down at the lights that traced across U.B's surface and she nodded.
She walked into the store, finding an old record player set up in the back, and she used the lights on U.B's gauntlet to guide her through the shop. She found rows upon rows of records, but she took one from the shelf, and she placed the massive disk on the record player. She looked at it inquisitively as she had never seen a record player before. But the arm that came down would position itself ontop of the disk, and that only seemed to make sense. So she pulled it down and placed it on the record...though nothing happened.
"I've got the power!!!" The voice of the ancient pop band screamed out, the soulful afro-american woman's vocals ringing out from U.B, and Mirai smirked again...the thing had personality. She liked it a lot. She looked around and found the power chord, still plugged into the wall and she pressed a small button on the bottom of her gauntlet to open a panel that held the electronic components of the glove. She cut the chord in half, splicing the wires and then attaching them to the inside of her glove to power the machine, and all of a sudden music filled the room.
The opening was guitar. BA BANANA BANANA Ba-nininini na. Banana. Banana. Bana bana bana bana. BA.
Then the singing hit. The shrill, old, raspy voice that had once ruled the stages of the world. "Back in black! I hit the sack! I've been to long I'm glad to be back. Yes I'm let loose, from the noose, that's got me hanging around." She listened to the man's voice blast through their room and Mirai fell in love with classic rock.
"Can. You. Dig it!?" U.B shouted out, through the gauntlet and Mirai chuckled once again as she sat there, listening to the old music playing. She would have to reverse engineer one of these record players and get herself some albums whenever she was out and about on missions. She honestly couldn't wait to kick some a** with this stuff playing in the background. She had grown up mostly with classical music, and then on the streets it was EDM or Dubstep or Pop. This kind of music felt lost...as ancient as the streets themselves.
As the song faded out, she breathed a sigh of contentment, and she pulled the plug from the gauntlet. The record player died out, and she left the shop, dusting off her clothes from the ragged old place. But, the next shop that she decided to check out turned out to be a bit of a different story. It was full of windows everywhere, so the inside was quite well lit. The store was full of different types of clothing and she walked the aisles her hands stretched out and tracing over the fabrics.
There were so many different types of clothes that she almost could't help herself. Her shirt was peeled off in no time, and her pants followed, standing in the store with nothing but her bra and panties before she put on a crop-top with ripped edges, and then over that, she found one of the most badass jackets she had ever seen and slipped it on overtop. She was going to become the embodiment of power. She would never be a weak little girl again.
She found a pair of black leather pants and put it on underneath, grinning as she saw herself in the mirror. She looked like a ******** pre-historic vampire hunter. Yes please. She laughed as she ran to the door and stuck her head out, calling the other girls to where she was, letting them know that she had found the 'digs'.
After the other two showed up, she spread her arms wide in the shop, showing them the bounties. "There's pretty much everything you could think of here. I mean, you don't need to change, as I know you said you were fine in what you are wearing. But, hell, it's something else you can control, right?" Mirai stated, looking over to Alley. Mirai had been listening to why she kept her hair so long. Well, now was the time to step out of her chains and really be who she wanted to be.
Mirai stretched, feeling how the clothes felt on her, and she grinned as he found that the jacket wasn't restricting her movements as of yet, but as she tried to move her arms around, it kind of felt like her armpits were being strangled. She reached up and she gripped the jacket by the fabric before she pulled with all of her might, tearing the sleeve right off of the jacket, before following suit on the second sleeve...yep...it was even more badass now.
She looked to the girls and she nodded. "Well, take a peek around and check out if there is anything in here you might like. Then we should get to high ground. Sun should be going down soon enough, so, we can get a good view on where these lights are coming from." She stated with a nod. Waiting to see what the others would do. In the mean-time she stepped off to the side of the shop and she threw vicious punches into the air, trying to move in every way possible in the new clothes, to see if anything else needed altering.
The leather pants hugged her form, and when the jacket swept up from her movement, her abdomen was laid bare, though the rest was still covered by her crop-top. She planted a hand on the ground and she threw her body forward, holding herself up with just the one hand and then letting her body fall even further forward until she had to catch herself with her feet and she landed in a bridge before lifting one leg and whirling it to the side, using her planted hand to hold herself as her body swung around.
She planted her feet again, flipping back up onto them, and standing straight from the whirling maneuver. She shook herself loose and grinned. They were perfect.

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford
Mission: Athens Investigate A.I. activity.
Seraphina grinned at Mirai's comment as Alley was again confused about language. "What's a pow- wow?""It's an old term for party or get together." Pyra supplied almost automatically, her excitement mounting she turned to Alley grabbing her hand squealing. "Shopping! Let's go!" She then dragged Alley to the old clothes store whether or not she wanted to go. Upon entering the dusty building Pyra's mouth dropped to the floor, and her excitement turned into lust. Mirai had changed clothes and boy did she look hot! Pyra stood there for a few seconds her grip on Alley loosening and Mirai's words about the selection here went in one ear and out the other. Pyra picked up her bottom jaw and nodded meakly, trying to rip her eyes off of Mirai and her tight leather pants that clung to her shapely legs and the well muscled abs of her toned stomach and then she started to move.
Mirai was only stretching to test out the fit of her new 'digs' but it was quite a show for Pyra, whose eyes were riveted to Mirai as she found everything moved fine... Except for the sleeves, and when she reached up and grabbed one of the restricting appendages and ripped it right off, Pyra's eyes filled with horror but before she could protest the other sleeve was torn away from the jacket. Mirai then nodded clearly pleased with herself, her look, and her horrific mutilation of her jacket. Although Pyra had to admit that the now sleeveless top looked damn good and it suited Mirai rather nicely. No, it suited her perfectly.
'Yeah, let's take a peek!' Pyra thought, taking Mirai's words a little more dirty them she likely ment them to be. Smirking with a slight blush on her cheeks Pyra agreed to the plan of moving out soon but first she wanted to try on this jacket she spotted by where Mirai was. Getting to the hangers with the biker jacket Pyra spotted Mirai's discarded clothes and her eyebrows shot up to her hairline, Mirai was pretty much naked a few minutes ago. That thought brought with it more arousal then it should have. Sneaking a peek over her shoulder at Mirai, Pyra was even more turned on by what she saw.
Mirai was shadow boxing, likely testing out her outfit again, then she swept forward exposing her delicious midriff. 'Mmmm...' Pyra practically moaned in her head, then Mirai fell into a one handed handstand and then a bridge with her one leg before she kicked off with it sending her spinning up onto one hand then she brought her legs down again but this time she set both on the floor as she righted herself as she finished twirling with a flourish from her new jacket. "Bravo! Bravo!" Pyra all about shouted while clapping loudly.
Pyra, embarrassed, turned back to the rack of clothes in front of her and inspected the black leather that caught her eye. Pulling it off the hanger and slipping into it, zipping herself in she felt snug in the tight leather. Pulling the hip straps tight she turned to the others. "How do I look."

Alley raised her eyebrow at the explanation about what pow-wow was. Why not just say those things? Why come up with new words for things when it was simpler to just keep to the normal words. Before Alley could much else, Pyra squealed while grabbing her hand, dragging her to the store. Were girls suppose to be excited about shopping? It was just clothes right? Alley stepped in, barely giving the newly dressed Mirai much attention. She noted the different clothes and wondered what was great about a pair of clothes that had a heavy scent to it. She walked around the racks that held different clothes, though nothing really stuck out to her.
She glanced up looking at Mirai as she seemed to try out a few fight moves. She shook her head as Pyra clapped and said 'Bravo'. Alley started pushing clothes aside, her mind going else where than actually looking at the shirts that she was pushing aside. Her mind was going back to the conversations she just had. She was the weird one, she knew that. Even though she was just trying to push that feeling toward everyone else. Making it seem like that they were the weird ones. Mirai could tell and was suspicious of her. She couldn't hide it. She knew that. She wasn't stupid, by any means. She just couldn't accept that maybe she made a mistake, the mistake of leaving the lab like she did. Besides, it was her fault wasn't it. All her fault. She was here because of her wants, hers and that old man's. She slowly lifted her hand and gently touched the pendant earring that now hung on her left ear. Was it a mistake? Was Thre safe out here with all these people?
Alley felt fear and sadness come over her. She didn't know what to do anymore, other than do what she was told by others. Just like at the lab. Eat this, fight that, tell us where it hurts. Mirai said to look for clothes and here she was, looking at these shirts made of what she could only assume were different colored cotton. She knew what they were made of, she read the labels that hung at the backs of shirts and pants. She didn't have much else to do at the labs other than chew on a bone or throw her ball against the wall and quickly catching it.
Alley was pulled from her thoughts when Pyra asked how she looked. Alley looked her over. She didn't know what to say, so looked back down to let Mirai say something. She wouldn't know how Pyra looked. She looked different. That's all she really knew. She was use to labs coats or guard uniforms. But she couldn't say that. Alley pulled a blue shirt off the rack, looking at it before putting it back. She felt lost, something she had felt since she had sprung out of the lab the first time. She didn't know what to get, not like the other two, who seemed to know what they wanted. She stepped away from the rack and walked up to Pyra, gently touching the sleeve of the jacket that she wore before letting it go. “Seems alright.” She muttered before going to stand next to the door to wait for the girls to finish. She would go clothes shopping on her own when she had more clear idea of what she wanted. Wasn't like she was about to ask for help anyways.

Mirai had completely missed Pyra staring her down while she was stretching, and she had also missed the horrified expression that played across her features while Mirai ripped the sleeves from her new jacket. She saw movement, however, when Pyra decided to check out the clothing near where she was. She shuffled off into the shelves as Mirai began to test out the restriction level of her clothing through the break-dance style fighting she was used to. When she finally found her feet beneath her, Pyra had wandered back up toward her, sporting a new jacket of her own. Mirai looked the woman up and down and slowly nodded her head, while stroking her chin.
"Classic, clean, with just a touch of punk b***h. I like it." She stated with a smirk as she rolled her neck, easing the muscles in it. "The jacket looks pretty good, too." She said with a grin, letting herself laugh at her cheesy jest before she looked around to see what Alley might be up to as well. The girl had been around when Pyra asked about how she looked, but she was gone by the time Mirai had answered. She looked over to where she was, standing by the door in her old clothes. Mirai bit her lip and she sighed as she looked at the girl. "Listen, Alley. I don't care where it is you came from. I don't care who it is who kept you there. Keep it to yourself, be quiet about it. Like I said. I really don't care. But, if you keep slinking off into the dark corners to hide from your past, and to keep yourself from having to live your own life...well, you're still in prison, girl." Mirai stated with a shrug of her shoulders. She couldn't force the girl to change, or to want to be her own woman, but she could at least point out to her that she was letting the people who did this to her win. She was living only by other people's rules, and she wasn't reaching out to grab her own individuality, even when given the option to. But...that was about where that ended, because she knew enough already to know that Alley didn't want her to care like a friend, or put her nose in her business. So she wouldn't. "But that's none of my business. The rags suit you well, anyways. Surprisingly." She stated, her eyes wandering up and down the ragged clothing before she gave a wink, though just in jest as she walked past Alley and into the streets once more.
She took one look up at the sun and she tried to get her bearings for a second on where she was. Where would the sun be setting here? It took her a few minutes to figure it all out, but when she had a good idea, she figured it would, within the next couple of hours, be getting rather dark here. They just had to figure out where to go from here so they could reach their objective point. Above the city, there was a large point--a massive building sitting on some huge hilltop. It seemed to be the central point of the city. She looked to the other two women and then pointed up to the high point of Athens. "Looks like that's the best spot to see our lights, no? Might as well get up there before its all too dark." She stated, shrugging her shoulders. She didn't know when the hell she became some sort of leader...but, nobody else was taking up the reigns. Pyra was too meek, it seemed, to really lead the group...and Alley...well, she just didn't know what the hell she was doing. Which, Mirai was sure, would be remedied in time. She just needed to be exposed to this place...to this world that she had seemingly been deprived of. She might have to sit down with the old p***k that she had seen in the lobby...maybe she would be able to get some answers out of him instead.
She merely shrugged her shoulders of the thoughts. She didn't need the distraction right now. She just needed to make sure her new body was working...she wanted to fight something, to be honest. The mission would serve very little purpose without some sort of contest against these enemies. She needed to know how she matched up against them.
She looked from girl to girl, giving them time to offer their own suggestions. If either of them felt like taking some other route, Mirai wouldn't force them to follow her. She was just suggesting it because it seemed like the most logical course of action to her. She began walking down the streets towards the center of the city, weaving through, over, and in a couple of spaces, even under the rubble of old buildings. It wasn't an arduous journey, really, but it was easily a thirty minute trudge through the city to get them to the base of the hill that would lead them to the central plateau that they could view the surrounding area of the city from.
She looked up at the buildings that stood at the top of the hill, and she reared her head to check for the other women. Pyra had come along, as Mirai had expected. The girl was not exactly the most skilled when it came to hiding her desires. Which, hey, Mirai wouldn't knock. She liked when a woman knew what she wanted. However, this one seemed to know what she wanted, but was a little too coy to step out and go for it. She seemed just a little bit too timid. Even in the leather jacket, Pyra didn't quite come across as that 'bad a** chick'...she just seemed like she wanted to be one real bad. Maybe she was, at the end of the day Mirai could only judge the girl from the day they had spent together, running around the city and now working away in Athens. She could only wait and see what kind of personality was hiding beneath that shy girl exterior.
For now though...she was just fun to toy with. She gave Mirai that kind of sexual attention that she hadn't gotten in a long time. Sure, she had forward pricks trying to have sex with her from the gang, but not because they truly appreciated how she looked...she was just hot enough to ********, and they were horny enough that they just felt lucky to get some from someone of her caliper...which they never did get any from, save for a swift punch in the d**k. Either way, it felt nice to feel the eyes on her in an admiring way...without the immediate intent on just throwing her against the nearest thing and pounding her...gross. But at the same time...cutesy wasn't her thing. And, if Pyra really was the timid little girl that she seemed to be...well, Mirai likely wouldn't be more than a fantasy for her either. Mirai was hard...she was cold and tough, and that didn't jive with a lot of the meek type of people she had met before.
Alley, however, was the wild card. She wasn't sure if she would have come along or not, but it seemed that the woman's better intuition had taken over, because she would have been a little stupid to go off on her own in the middle of a strange, new, place, when she had two viable partners right in front of her. She was there, following up for now, which was good. It meant that they were still a team, regardless of their beef. Sure, they might not be the closest of friends, since Mirai definitely wouldn't be her friend without some sort of explanation...and Alley most certainly wasn't going to give that information up. Maybe if she got her drunk enough...naw...that would just be...unfair. Info rape was not cool, Mirai. God.
She took a deep breath as she looked up to the hill and nodded to the girls. "Well, here we go. Last leg of this part of the trip at least. Might as well get up there and figure out where we're going from here." She stated, turning back to the hill and getting ready for a few steep inclines and a bunch of stairs.

Add stuff wherever you feel, if you notice something or comment about the area, city, forests around the city, doesn't matter. Either way, by the end of the post, the sun aught to have come down to a duskish time, and we should have a bit of a view of the green lights.
Then the next post after that should be taking us down to wherever that area is, and setting us up with whatever the camp looks like, as well as whatever is causing the green lights and stuffs. This can also be the last post before combat begins. So after that, we will start our initiative rolls and stuff. Woo! Almost there. We can hit the 1000 mark for sure. =]

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford
Mission: Athens Investigate A.I. activity.
Seraphina face fell when Alley moved passed her and away from the loads of clothes, over to the door of the shop. Exhaling a long sigh that brought her shoulders down and jaw unclench. She thanked them for the approval of her new jacket, she gave Mirai a wink then quickly grabbed her possessions out of her old jacket. Before folding it up and stowing it safely away in duffle bag she found in the back of the shop. All the while she was surprised at how Alley had wanted no needed new clothes and she passed on all of the goodies here. Mirai then told Alley a piece of her mind but she was right, no one can or should live in the past.
"Uhh..." Pyra stammered slightly taken aback by the venom in Mirai's words. 'Yes, Alley was little off but what can one expect when the world is in tatters like this... When there are villages of people that are pretty much back in the stone age.So what if Alley didn't get out cultures at least she's trying, plus She passed her Half so whatever big seal? ... What did I miss when I was climbing up those ruins?' Pyra wanted to say but was too uncomfortable socially to speak up, so she kept to herself as they left the clothing shop. Pyra didn't meet Mirai's gaze when she looked between them, Pyra just nodded and glanced at Alley with a sad look before turning and following Mirai. During the walk Pyra was in a vicious internal debate over whether or not she wanted to voice her opinion. On one hand she wanted the three of them to get along ya know and be a team, but on the other she didn't know what had happened between Alley and Mirai when they had their private talk. And so Pyra was mentally stuck, she didn't know what to do so she chose her normal social option and didn't talk. She looked up just in time to stop before she ran into Mirai who had stopped to look up then she looked back and their gazes met, the determination in her eyes was eerily hypnotic and Pyra's eyes swelled and she swallowed the lump in her throat and took a deep breath. And just as she was about to speak Alley had caught up with them and Pyra had a thought and before her brain stopped it her mouth blurted it out.
"Race to the top! One, two, three. Go!" Pyra took off like a shot the sudden thought apparently came with some addrenilin. The challenge of the mountain combined with the competition of the race got the blood really pumping as she blew past the others whom had barely registered the comment before they both took off after Pyra. A third party watching this race would note how differently each girl tackled the obstacles in their path, and how they each split to taking their own way. Mirai was brute force in her movement strong and sure, as she leapt up the jagged mountain side. Alley was fluidly speeding her lithe body up between the numerous rocks using her hands a lot more than the others she almost looked like a canine loping through the woods. Pyra was somewhere in between, sure footed and semifluid in her motions, her mobility training coming back she loved the feeling of speed parkouring.
Pyra was surprised when she looked up at Alley's shout of victory from atop the mountain. She smiled up at her friend as she reached the peak and claimed second. Then turned and Mirai was reaching up over a large rock Pyra reached out to help when Mirai pulled her back down and sprung up to join Alley. They then shared horrified expressions as Pyra could not get her feet under her and she started falling down to the ruins below. Mirai and Alley tried to catch her but they just grasped at fingertips as Pyra then tumbled over the edge. Nothing but pain was running through Pyra's mind as each impact on the rough rocks took the wind out of her. She was bloodied and bruised about halfway down a regular person would have been dead by now, but being a Baitr sure had it's perks! The screams from her team faded away as her own voice failed due to the pain. That overrides all cognitive thought, she couldn't help but cry just wishing the the pain would stop. As they say be careful what you wish for, because then Pyra's world went black. Her limp body came to rest shortly after as it started to dematerialize.
As her mind was in limbo her only thought was that her first mission as a Baitr and she had failed. That thought ate at her, she didn't even face the A.I.s and she died.

Mirai felt like Pyra had begun acting a little strangely after the clothing shop. It was as if the woman had something against Mirai telling Alley the truth. She couldn't help it if people didn't like that. It was actually quite strange that they didn't--wanting to bury their heads in the sand instead. But she shrugged it off, deciding not to worry about it. If people didn't like her, they didn't like her, but she would manage. She really was trying to help Alley feel more like she could belong in this world though...but, Alley had to make the choice to actually BE a part of it. Mirai felt that really close to home...considering that it took her a hell of a lot to throw away the fears from her past and move forward with her life, into being a baiter, and a respectable person...and not alone, so much, anymore. Hopefully she could influence Alley to make a similar transition. One could only hope, at least.
Before she had time to think about anything else in detail, however, Pyra called out that they were going to race to the top of the hill that Mirai had mentioned might be a good lookout, and then she bolted. Pyra was not exactly the most fluid--nor was she the most precise or strong, but she had a strange jack-of-all-trades feel about her, like she was just all around good at things. Which, was not a bad thing at all. It was actually probably more useful than specialising into anything too much, really. Alley, however, moved like an animal. She was natural and quick--her body lithe and sinuous. She bit her lip as she looked at Alley run, surprised by the attractiveness of the woman's body. The rags didn't exactly leave a whole lot up to imagination while she was running like that, and Mirai had no complaints at all. Pyra was hot on her heels, and then Mirai ******** had been staring at asses for so long that they were already half-way up the hill!
She bolted, her feet moving on their own. She didn't think about whether or not she really did want to race and play around, but instead she found herself compelled by pure and complete instinct. RUN. Catch. Those. Asses. She had to. She wasn't going to fall behind and come in last place in this little makeshift sprint. The others were pretty far ahead, but Mirai was one strong a** runner. Her feet pounded the ground, shooting her forward. Her arms pumped like pistons as she ran. They were both making it quite far ahead, but she was not getting left behind. She was closing the gap slowly, but surely. Then, something caught her eye as she looked at Alley, darting up toward the top of the hill. Alley dropped to all fours, pushing off with all four limbs on a large rock to send herself flying upward to a high ledge that Mirai wouldn't have had a hope in hell of actually catching...or did she? Mirai pathed herself toward the place that Alley had just jumped off of, and when she finally reached it--about the same time that the others were both getting up to the tip top. She sprung off of the stone and immediately, realising she had given it her absolute all, she knew that she was not strong enough to match Alley's jump.
Her body slammed into the side of the rock face, instead of landing up on top of the ledge, and she scrambled to find a hold with one of her hands, managing to just grip the edge of the ledge. At that point, she felt the skin on her fingers tearing away, but she held as strong as she could, until she heard footsteps coming close. "Just a...little more. A littttttle more, girl." The radio voice played from the gauntlet, trying to encourage her to hold on, and then, just as she was about to slip, Pyra's arm lashed over the edge and grabbed her by the arm and hand, hauling her up. Mirai's legs flailed until they hit the wall beneath her and found a groove to use as leverage, to push herself. The strain was clear on Pyra's face, but as she pulled Mirai up fully, Mirai made one last tug on Pyra's arm to get herself standing, but when she tugged on the woman's arm, she righted herself, only to unbalance Pyra. The other woman lost her footing and she fell forward, bumping into Mirai and tumbling over the edge. As Mirai lost her balance as well, she felt her body weight shifting backwards and she knew she couldn't stop herself...she was falling.
It was then that Alley blasted forward from where she had been--moving to close the gap between them in a split second. As Mirai was falling, Alley lashed out and grabbed her from the front of the jacket--catching her before she toppled over the edge. But, what really got Mirai was the woman's hands...they had not been clawed like that before. But now, there it was, her fingernails had become claw-like, enough so that they had torn through the leather of her jacket very easily as the woman grabbed her. However, she didn't have enough time to look more carefully as Alley tossed Mirai backwards, away from the ledge and moved back toward the drop, seeing if she could get Pyra as well...but the other woman was already gone.
Mirai looked around her, in slight shock, almost as if to say to herself 'where did Pyra go?' But the information began to process and Mirai launched herself toward the ledge she had caused Pyra to go to--trying to save her. Mirai had been stupid and tried to copy Alley because it looked impossible...she had just wanted to test herself, but look at what had happened. "Pyra?" She screamed over the ledge, peering down the way that Pyra had fallen. "She might be hurt down there...I...I have to at least check. This...this is my fault." She stammered, feeling extremely shaken up for the first time in the day. She had been treating this whole thing as some kind of joke...as a fun thing to do to make friends and meet people, but this was the harsh reality. She had acted childish during their already juvenile 'race' and she had wound up hurting someone that was with her.
She ran the opposite direction, knowing the ledge was too dangerous to scale down. She took the safe route, even if she was doing so so fast that it was anything but safe. Alley was right behind her, telling her that she wasn't going to let her go alone and get herself killed to. Mirai accepted the help, mostly because she needed to move--now. She got down to the bottom in record speed, and as she did, she spotted Pyra's body not too far away, causing her to speed up as she ran towards the woman. However, as she was getting closer to Pyra, the woman's body erupted into light, disintegrating into code and then suddenly being blasted skyward by a beam of light...she was just...gone? Mirai had never seen this process take place, so she fell to her knees near where Pyra had been, and she stared, dumbfounded at the ground. "It's all my fault." She stated simply, fighting back tears as she sat there, staring at the blood stained dirt where Pyra had been. "It's all my damn fault." She repeated, breaking down into sobs as she placed her arms down on the ground, folded in front of her, and her head on top of them, weeping openly at her own failure...she had killed one of her friends.

Alley looked at Mirai walked up to her and spoke to her, raising her eyebrow as she told her that she was letting whoever held her win by sitting back. Was this woman serious? She just didn't know what to get. She wasn't all over the clothes like Mirai and Pyra and she just didn't feel comfortable looking through things she didn't understand. She mostly wore whatever the scientists gave her. It was a bit much to actually pick her own things at the moment. Also she was off hiding half the time because her life was in danger and this girl was trying to pry the very secret that was going to end up putting her in the ground. But she kept her mouth shut and just simply glared at Mirai as she waited for both the girls to actually finish their shopping.
Pyra walked up to Mirai to talk to her, quickly putting her listening to something else than their conversation. Not her problem if they were talking about her and the way she was. She focused more on their area, sniffing the air once and a while, her eyes scanning everywhere. The town seemed safe enough. She looked up at the area Mirai pointed at, noting the rocks and such. She wouldn't have a problem with them, but she couldn't say the same about the other girls. But surely they would be fine. Alley looked at Pyra when she suddenly piped up about a race. Alley's face grew into a smirk as she charged after Pyra and passing her quickly. Caution went off with the wind behind her as she pushed her bare feet against the rocks on the ground without much notice at the sharp bricks that came with. Alley saw an oppritunity to get really ahead, there was a good jump off from one rock to the other. Alley jumped on the low rock, landing on all fours before pushing off just the same, and landing on all fours once again on the higher rock before continuing up the rugged path.
She reached the top and let out a victory howl of laughter as she turned to see where the other girls were behind her. Her face fell as she saw Pyra start to fall off an edge not far from them. She didn't think, only ran down the hill, jumping once and a while to make the journey quicker. “GO Babe, GO!.” The Uni-Blaster yelled in her head. Alley didn't need the reminder to go faster. She was on Mirai quicker, who was teetering backwards toward the ledge, her claws forming as she lunged her arm forward and grabbed her jacket. She felt the material give to her claws, quickly yanking the woman away from the ledge. Alley almost threw Mirai to the ground before quickly moving to the ledge to see if there was anyway to save Pyra. But she didn't see the girl at all. Alley quickly got back up, seeing that Mirai was next to her. Alley looked the girl over, seeing that her eyes were a bit dilated. She was going into shock. Alley looked down at the gap in the ground that just took one of first people that she got to know.
Alley looked up to find Mirai already heading down the path the lead the way down to the ground below. She clicked her tongue as she ran after the woman. “Slow it down, I don't need to be saving your behind after I just saved it.” She told the woman, following close behind her. They reached the bottom quickly, Alley smelling Pyra before they actually smelled her. Her blood was strong, making Alley grimace. That wasn't good, really not good. She ran close behind Mirai as they ran to her body, though before they could reach it, it suddenly light up and then it was gone, flying off to the sky. Alley blinked in confusion. What just happened? Pyra's scent was still lingering, but she was nowhere. She glanced at Mirai as she fell to the ground where they had just seen Pyra's body disappear. She frowned as Mirai said it was her fault and crumbled into sobs.
Alley slowly knelt beside Mirai, slowly placing a hand on the woman's back before pulling her into a hug. She didn't get any resistance, just instance that it was her fault. Alley was tempted to smack this woman, but didn't think it would work. She took a deep breath before asking. “How is it your fault? Did you push her over the edge?”
“No... I tried... to copy that jump that you did, when you sprung off on all fours... and when she was hellping me, I pulled her arm to get up, and she lost her balance. I didn't need to push her.”
Alley raised her eyebrow, wondering why in the world Mirai was trying to copy her jumps. She just shook her slightly before responding. “Oh I see, so you told her to help you.” Alley knew what she was doing, she was proving a point to the hysterical woman. “W..well.... no.” Alley nodded her head, as if Mirai just proved everything. “So how is it your fault? She helped you out of her free will, and I'm sure she knew it was dangerous thing to do, after all, you were close to the edge. I'm sure when we see her again, she'll be begging to know if we're okay or not.” It seemed very likely. Pyra seemed to care about them.
“You do.... come back from this kind of stuff, then?” Mirai asked, looking at her.
Alley nodded. “I have a friend who says that baiters don't get killed unless they get their Code Cores taken away.” She was referring to Ilya's mother of course, not that Mirai knew about her. She looked down at Mirai to see that she was thinking about what she just said before nodding. “Ok.. that's... at least a little better. She might be mad, but at least she's alive.”
Alley shrugged her shoulders. “I would be too if I got killed before I could even fight some Ais.” She figured that Pyra would forgive them later on if she was truly mad. But she was sure Pyra would be more worried if they were okay or not since Mirai was close to falling herself. It seemed that what she said worked to make Mirai to calm down, since she chuckled a little then sighed. “Yeah... you're right. We came here for a reason right.” Alley let Mirai wipe her face off from her tears then look embarrassed. “I'm... erm... sorry for that... display.”
Alley raised her eyebrow, before shrugging her shoulders. “Eh, you were only annoying when you kept repeating the same line over and over.” She knew that probably wasn't the best line for anyone else, but Mirai seemed to respond better to smart remarks than comfort. Mirai seemed shocked to her comment before jabbing her elbow a bit into her side. “I was having an episode okay. I thought I just killed someone.”
Alley couldn't help the smile that crept on her lips, reaching up and ruffled Mirai's hair like she would do for Thre or Ilya. “The fall and the ground killed her. Let's head back up and proceed with the mission.”
Alley heard Mirai chuckle. “I suppose you're right. As morbid as that is.” She laughed lightly. “But yea. Let's do it. It's all we can do, now. Moping around won't get our mission done.”
Alley nodded and turned away from where Pyra was once and started walking back up the path. “Glad to see you're seeing reason, let's go.” She let Mirai take her own pace as they walked back up, slower than their decent down. Alley wasn't heartless, she was upset about what happned, though it probably didn't seem like that. But Alley didn't break down in tears. She was able to save on of them, and while most wouldn't think about that, Alley knew it was either save Mirai or let them both die and leave her alone to finish a mission on her own. Alley looked behind her when Mirai called for her. “Hey Alley.... Thanks a lot, eh... you really saved my a**.”
Alley blinked in surprise at the thanks. She didn't think she would be thanked for something like that. “It wasn't a big deal. I had to make a choice and make it quick. My only regret was that I couldn't save the both of you.”
“Just between you and me.” Mirai leaned in close to whisper. “You picked the right one.” She began to laugh, helping Alley to realize that she was merely kidding.
Alley smirked a bit. “Oh and how is that? Last I checked, Pyra's laugh was more pleasant sounding.” Her smirk grew more, glad to see that they were past the morning part of the event and were now back to the way they had been before the argument about Mirai curiosity. Mirai smirked back at her before going 'oh haa haa.'
Alley thought back, realizing Mirai said another word that Alley didn't understand. “By the way, what's an a**?” She asked. She hadn't heard that word before.
Mirai seemed shocked at Alley's question. “No. Freaking. Way. You don't even know what a** means? Trust me, it's a good one. a** is your butt. It's what you poop out of. However, a** can also be used as an insult. So if you call someone an a**, they might get pissy. Or you can use it like I said 'saved my a**' just means you really saved me. Pain in my a** is another one you might use. It's for someone who annoys or bothers you. Working my a** off, or laughing my a** of, just means working hard, or laughing hard. You know, those kinds of things.”
Alley glared a bit. “I know what a butt is, I learned antimony.” She said, feeling slightly offended that Mirai would think she wouldn't know what a butt was. She just didn't understand all these different words they came up with for different things.
“I figured you knew what a butt was! That's why I used butt to explain a**! That's all!”
Alley narrowed her eyes. “You explained what a butt was by saying it's where I let out my bowels, as if I didn't already know.”
Mirai shrugged her shoulders. “I just thought it was fun to say it.”
Alley shook her head before continuing their walk back up. “Hardly.”
“God you're touchy, you know that? I just killed a person, cut me some slack.” Mirai said behind her.
Alley rolled her eyes. “I thought we agreed it was the ground.”
“Doesn't mean I can't use it as an excuse when I say the wrong things by accident.”
Alley didn't see Mirai stick out her tongue, but merely shook her head and kept walking. It had gotten dark by the time they reached the top, and they could see the lights that they had been told about. Alley tried to narrow her eyes to see what could be causing them, but couldn't tell at all. She glanced at Mirai. “Shall we head down there to see what could be causing them?” She asked mostly to make sure Mirai was up to the task after all that happened. She seemed alright, but it didn't mean she was ready to face what they needed to face.
What scares you more, the human or the beast in me?
