His ear twitched as he caught the question. He scanned the area, and then settled his gaze on the light haired Grimm. "Ah, well...I was in my stone until about 15 years ago." he said trying to make a joke and gave the crowd a big smile. "I'm sure that's not what you meant though. We live up north, in the swamps and river deltas that are on the edge of old Grimm territory and Baphomet territory. Some even live out in the ocean in the sunken cities, but most live in the swamps and stuff. I'm from Silverfish City. It's kind of the central capital of Nixie territory. It's got the only portal there."

He looked over at the Grimm that looked just like Kobe. Must be his brother and "leader." He might have to run down these two at some point and see what they knew about having a pack. "Our tribe is incredibly large for how packs used to work...there are a couple hundred of us all under Kestrel and Mink's leadership. Some of us follow the more Nixie way of life compared to the Grimm way, but we learn what it means to be Grimm and are expected to do certain things, like pass the trials." he said with a nod.

Myles heard the next question and saw the dark hared boy. "Ah well...ehehehe..." he rubbed the back of his neck. That was a hard question and he didn't want to throw Athena's dad under the sub so to speak. "Well...we uh...just kind of learned about all of you a couple weeks ago." he said. "Kestrel can be kinda...brash...and uh...wants things a certain way." he said. He didn't really want to get in trouble with Ryuuichi or Kestrel. That would mean getting sent home.

Sequoia wasn't quite sure about her decision to join the crowd. After all, it was huge and bustling. She didn't like that. The Grimm leered her shoulders away from the others around her and tugged her arms into her sleeves for added comfort. Why did she have to be curious? This crowd was going to squish her to bits! She let out a barely audible whine, before yipping as Jacie suddenly appeared beside her. Where did he come from? Instinctively, she batted him with her cloth covered paw.

"YOU DUMMY. STOP SCARING ME!" She flailed, her posture stiffening. "What's going on, anyway? Why are you angry?"

And Sequoia is 20 shades of done with this crowd...

Neptune just about jumped a little when Myles actually looked right at him, he really hadn't thought he'd been heard. The joke was lost on him, he'd never been good at deciphering when someone was being serious... his ears dropped, and his tail curled between his legs a little. That had been a dumb question hadn't it... but at least he got a real answer? Mentally he tried to picture the maps he'd seen in his classes, but couldn't quite piece together what Myles was referring to... he'd have to look later.

"Th--...thank you.." He nodded a little, edging a bit further back behind the hedge he'd secured as a hiding place. The younger grimm seemed much more confident in their questions, perhaps he'd just listen to them for now... Especially the one kid that demanded to know why they should trust the newcomers.

User ImageThroughout all of this, Athena was having a ball drenching herself in the fountain, occasionally gulping down one of the bottles of water the Baphomet had graciously brought. Though oblivious to most of the questions, she listened a little, though not as much as she should have probably. Finally feeling hydrated enough, she took a seat in the cool water, looking at everyone with a big smile and wide eyes. So many different races! She'd never seen anything like it!

"Hello!" She chirped, waving a little, "Sorry I wasn't feeling too well! It's really dry here compared to home..." She briefly worried about her father, but shook it off. He...was going to be so mad at her anyway. "But I'm Athena! My Dad's the Elder of my city!"

Jacie looked to sequoia with a soft smile, trying to reassure her. "He's a dummy who doesn't have real answers." He told her. Jacie was never know to be a very kind nightmare, even though he could be nice; he generally just wasn't. His paw slipped into the others, blocking her from being squished even if it squished him instead.

User ImageThere was a look in the freshling's eyes that disturbed Bath--in many ways. He'd seen that look before, and it sent an involuntary shiver up his spine and down into his tail. His tail settled. Infatuation. Well, there were lots of different kinds of infatuation, but this was the "looking up to you" kind of infatuation, which was...slightly less creepy, but very, very dangerous to everyone involved. And at this age? It meant trying to act like you and Bath...well... No one should ever follow in my footsteps. Ever. Unless they mean to go all the way...

But all the siege weapons and Elven magic and necromancers in either world cannot match the force of a freshling's enormous eyes, and this one was laying quite the doozy on the older hybrid. He gave the kid a smile. Eh, he couldn't help it at this point. "Nice to meet you, Foras. I'm from House Enoch--a little different than House Arkham, I suppose."

And then, because old habits die hard, the old Bath--the one that sometimes didn't think before he acted--knelt down to Foras's level. He stuck out a hand. "Foras, I swear to you, if you do not want to leave, I will not let them take you from this place. I take my promises very seriously."

User ImageThe Grimm was shaking and sweating, as though he were frightened or perhaps just anxious. She...well, she'd never felt that before. At least, not in a situation like this. But...she thought she knew how that must feel--and why he was feeling like this. His first opportunity. The opportunity to know. And he had to know. This was important. This was culture, and knowledge, and belonging, and kinship, and home. And if he needed help to sit through this, to know that he was...not alone, or however it was she was making him feel better? Than she would stay with him. And listen.

She gave him a tiny smile in return and tried to pull him in closer. Her goal was to bring him up to the fountain. That might not work--not everyone liked being close. She'd always assumed from their wolf-like appearance that Grimms would be social and enjoy being in a group, but now she was beginning to have second thoughts. Grimm must all be different...all with different hopes and dreams. This one wanted to learn about his past, and by the press of people, so did they, but...were all the Grimm children here? Would all of them arrive?

How many would be here, at the end of the day?

User ImageMelisara watched Kobe quietly leave the group with sadness and not a small amount of trepidation. Why was he leaving? The answer came when someone's foot nudged her tail. Looking around, she could see that the courtyard had filled up with fur and tails all around. She supposed that was something new she had learned about Kobe--he did not like large crowds. Unless someone were here making him nervous, but no one seemed to have done so so far... That's alrahght, darlin'. Ah'll take notes for yah. And she was taking such marvelous mental notes--notes of names (Iah, Amy, Jezebeth, and she thought she'd heard someone squeak "Foras" in the crowd) and of the questions and the answers. So many questions and answers! She would have to report back to Kobe later, if Crispin didn't. Or even if he did!

She gave Crispin a reassuring smile as he looked around for his brother, but the questions and answers were finally beginning. Melisara took a while to speak--questions? She had so many questions! When finally she had a chance to speak, she shaded her eyes with her hand to look up at Myles, and said, "What're the trahuhls? How many Grimm are there? How long're yah gonna stay here? How did the Nixie an' the Grimm first come to be allahs?" Those were the first questions she could articulate. There were more, but she would have to ask them in a moment.

She smiled and waved at Athena in the fountain. "Ah'm glad yer doin' better, darlin'. How'd y'git here without drahin' completely out?"

User ImageAthena kicked her legs a little in the fountain, simply watching with a smile before her earfins perked, noticing the question from her earlier savior. Thinking for a moment, she began to answer what she could at least...

"Uhm! I'm not sure how long we'll be here, but there's maybe about 200 Grimm in Kestrel's pack? It's been getting smaller recently though..." A frown crossed her features as she looked up at Myles, before turning her attention back to Sara. "From what I've heard, the Grimm needed somewhere to escape some disease, and the Elder of the Nixie at the time took them in. It's just kind of been like that ever since!" She tried to smile, a little nervous. "Myles might have some better answers though....even though he lives with my people."

She waved back though, back to smiling brightly. "We had wet towels on our journey here! I'm more worried about my dad though...he's stuck in the assembly..."

Myles shifted a bit and sat down on the edge of the top of the fountain, ignoring the fact he was disrupting the flow of the water, and rather enjoying the cool water. He looked over the crowd and found the Baphomet who'd brought Athena the water. What a curious accent she had, well he supposed he probably had one too, he'd grown up around Nixie most of his life. "The Trials? Well it's when you prove you're an adult. You do some sort of feat of strength, and it means you're ready to do...ya'know adult stuff." tail tip swished. He had yet to do his trial, but he knew what he wanted to do, just needed to find the time...

"I think at last count there were...150 of us left." his ears flicked back against his head. "Some of the older members of the pack got sick last winter and died of sickness or age..." he sighed and then shrugged happy to change topic. "I don't know. Until Kestrel works stuff out more than likely. Or Athena's dad knocks some sense into him~" he grinned, the tail twitch went to a full amused swish.

"As for the ally stuff...uhh...that was like a long time ago, before the war. They used to kinda clash, but then realized they had more in common than different so made friends. Grimm are the reason the Nixie's have connections to the Imps and have all sorts of tech." he said innocently. It never crossed his mind he shouldn't mention the Imps.

The freshling was offering her strength, tugging him closer and giving him a smile that left him slowly agreeing her to whims. She was right, no matter the fact she didn't speak. He needed to be closer. This was his time. Once she had him close enough, he released her hand, giving her the tiniest smile before beginning his nervous habit of wringing his hands together.

His tail swished nervously as the boy – Myles – answered the questions, eyes nervously flicking from asker to answerer. The shy, odd-eyed Grimm briefly caught his attention, purely based on how nervous he seemed, too. Good, Tobias wasn't the only one.

Swallowing thickly, the boy gathered all his courage, sizing up Myles before stepping just a little closer. He wasn't ready, but this was the time. This might be the only time.

"Why did they, our families, leave us?" He questioned, his straight ear slowly pinning backwards. "If we go with you, can we come back? Or.... or are we....?" His voice cut off, afraid to say 'trapped'. He wanted answers, he did. The adult Grimm had mentioned he wanted them to come with, but at what cost? Would he see Yue again? Did learning about his people mean he needed to sacrifice her? What about Keegan? What if Keegan didn't come? What then? His claws wrung together once more, heart hammering. He glanced back down at the freshling, despite her being younger, reminding himself that she had helped him come here. She believed in him.

He really ought to ask her name later.

"Wh-what were the tribes are parents are from like?" He added as his final (for now) question. He had always wondered who his parents were, and this was the closest he'd ever get.

User ImageWell, those were most of her questions answered. She sort of wished there was more to know about the alliance--it must have been something quite interesting to get a race that no one had ever heard of to help out the Grimm! And if they were able to stave off the Sleeping Sickness, imagine what sort of medicines the Nixie must have! Something that powerful, well, she knew what Grandpa would say: "Where were those fishy bastards in the war?!" The thought of her crochety old grandfather brought a smile to her face. She wondered what he'd think of all this. ...Probably nothing printable, come to think of it.

Being the one to help save Athena was going a little to Melisara's head. She would later admit, in private, that she had been acting...well, bossy. And that wasn't entirely like her under normal circumstances. Well, it sort of was, but not entirely. Athena's father was in danger! That was no good! She looked around for someone to go. Most of the crowd were Grimm, and she couldn't ask them to go. She herself couldn't go, she had to gather information for Kobe. So who could she send?

The foul-faced half-Demon in the back, perhaps? She stood up and pointed at him. "You there, Braid!"

It had to be said several times before the hybrid realized she was talking to him. "What?!" he snapped. What did that little--well, okay, not so little, she was a Baphomet, after all--junior want with him? He hadn't been paying much attention to the crowd. He'd been talking to Foras, after all, and anyway, he only had one question to ask the strangers. Gnnngh. He wasn't going to get any rest now, was he? Now that everyone would be looking at him.

"We need yah t' get a bucket o' water and some water bottles to lady Athena's father at the faculty meetin'." The hybrid was wearing a leather jacket and a pair of big ol' black leather boots. Anyone who dressed like that wanted to come across as a tough guy, and tough guys were alarmingly easy to manipulate. She knew exactly how to get him to bring water to the senior Nixie. "It's supposed t'be for staff an' graduates only. Think y'can bust in?"

Really? That was the most effort she was going to put into telling him what to do? Ugh. He didn't want to leave Foras--a kid could get lost in a crowd like this--but again, with people watching, he didn't want to seem...churlish. "Easy," he said. He looked down at Foras. "Be careful, okay?" he said. "I'll be right back." With that, he swished his tail and exited the courtyard.

Myles looked around before noticing the bright orange Grimm. He smiled reassuringly at him and then let it fade as he asked about their former tribes. "I'm sure they didn't want to leave you. They probably got killed when the Demons said we were their allies...or they got the Sleeping Sickness..." he trailed off, ears laying back against his head. "They didn't leave you cuz they wanted too." he said somberly. "As for coming back..." he didn't know the answer to that question. Would they really want to come back once they got to see what it was like in the tribe? They'd be...well...free, right? "I guess, I don't know."

He crossed his arms and leaned back just a bit, lips pursed. "Well...it would depend. I mean if I knew what tribe you were from it might help me answer the question, but honestly you'd have had your own gods, and rituals and stuff...but you'd have a Shaman and then the Alpha or Alphas. Can have more than one if your Shaman's got more than one mate."

He looked down at Athena and smiled brightly at her. He was glad she was feeling better, he'd been really worried. He was tempted to blow her a kiss but thought better of it. Later.

Sara had a thankful look passed her way when she smiled at him as he fidgetted. As soon as he was done talking to Myles he was going to go find Kobe and pass on what he'd learned.

A frown crossed the pale grimm boys face as he heard another voice sound angry from the crowd. Sure they were strangers, but had they really wanted to take them away? His eyes widened slightly as he looked back at Myles, glad for the honest answer but an uncertain look on the kids face. "I don't know about leaving school forever..we could keep going here if we wanted tho you said right? I don't know you beside you're name! That'd be a big decision I think I'd wanna think it over first.." The youngster added with tilt of his head. Sure they both seemed nice enough, but without talking to his brother or any of his friends Kobe had talked about in the past that seemed foolish.

There was no way he'd go along blindly until he knew more about what he was getting himself into. He wasn't that eager to be maybe hurt, or see someone harmed because he'd made a hasty choice. From the sounds of it that was a LOT of others, why did they need more from this far away? Leaning over the concrete outer ring he rest his weight on his paws as he listened to the exchange of conversations going on. "Oh..that's sad to hear about the deaths, that's..yeah I'm sorry for your loss then." He looked genuinely concerned as his ears rolled back, hearing the bright orange Grimm's questions answered.

It kinda answered a question as to why they were looking for more. "What's pack life like with so many? Or are they spread out?" He asked curiously drumming his claws idly against the fountain ring. If he went with him, wouldn't that mean he had to give up trying to make his own pack? "So the trials are part of growin up then.." He asked tail wagging idly taking mental notes for now. How was he suppose to learn all about Grimm culture from the older, when there were so many traditions. This was getting complicated quickly, there was so much he didn't understand still.

"Wait we might have family out there if they aren't..? I always wondered why Kobe and me were alone." Besides his brother, he had no other known family. The idea he might have more was interesting, but didn't make him any less wary of being taken away from life as he knew it right now. "So it's possible to have another alpha, it just depends on a uh shay-man and their mate?" He blinked at Myles curiously, the small boy pursed his lips with a thoughtful frown. His brows furrowed in consideration to everything he'd heard thus far.

Crispin had no idea what a shaman was, and saying the new word took some amount of effort.

Tobias's questions made him wonder a little more... if things differed from tribe to tribe, then how could they really teach anyone how to be a grimm? He chewed at his lip a little, wringing his hands together as he mustered up the courage to ask another question. "H--...how would we um...... f-find that out..?" He tilted his head, ears flopping a bit as he did so. A moment later he realized he might not have made any sense at all. "Um.... I mean... how would we find out... which tribe we come from...?" He hoped there was a way to do that. Something, anything that might give a solid link back to his ancestors.

When he was younger he'd been fairly okay with being a grimm, but as he grew older and realized the gravity of what happened, it had become a sore spot. This was really throwing him for a loop... All this time he could've been somewhere with other grimm. "A--also... if... if things are so different... um. from tribe-to-tribe.... h-how are we going to learn how to um... really be grimm? I mean-- ifitssodifferentallover..." He'd started the next question without really thinking about it and ended up getting too nervous to speak slowly towards the end. Hopefully Myles understood...
