Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
She stretched her body out to reach for the paper bird, starting to push off the couch. "Pretty and intricate." Just like Wren, she figured. The tone had started to go to darker places and she tried to reach out further. Instead, she had gone too far and her head hit the floor with a thunk, followed by the rest of her body sliding off. "Frick! The ginger sat herself up woozily and rubbed her head.

[Wren Harbinger] Wren laughed, standing up slowly as to not strain her ankles. "You can handle your alcohol, alright," she said with a chuckle. "Until you have to stand up." She set the paper formation back on the table and placed a hand on her hip, the other outstretched to the redhead.
"Maybe you should've wished for more tolerance," she offered with a wink.

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
"Mmm pretty sure this is my first time being drunk." Elin stared at Wren's hand for a few moments. There was always something behind a hand extended, and at the trainee camp, she'd usually grab their hand and use her momentum coming to a standing position to throw the other person over her and onto the ground so quickly they still didn't know what happened as she walked away. Ugh, and those rich people, who pretended to care. But this girl was none of those people, none of those things. Finally, she snarled a little and grasped Wren's hand, "The only tolerance that should be wished for is you hoping that I grow to be more tolerant as a person. Don't hate on the booze." She smiled a little.

[Wren Harbinger] Wren released the other girl's hand as she righted herself and picked up her drink before walking around the table to sit on the brick ledge around the fire. She turned her head away to yawn softly before looking back up at Elin.
"Like I said before, I puked my first time," she said, giggling. She brought the glass up to her dry lips and ran her tongue over them quickly before taking a sip. "I'm a little more practiced these days, but I still can't keep up with the guys in the barracks when we get beer in the rations," she paused to reach up and ruffle her short hair, encouraging the layers underneath to dry. "I mean they cover barrels at a time when given the chance," she finished with a snort, rolling her eyes a bit before taking another drink.
'She realized briefly that having gotten up and walking had made her feel the severity of her drunken state, which was likely what spurred her to converse so casually all of the sudden.

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
"Guys are worse in general with that sort of thing. They're real big shots til I have to haul them out of the pubs for causing a ruckus. Never figure it out until it's too late." She wanted to plop down near her friend, but she also did not want to move around too much more than she had to. Elin watched her dampen her lips before drinking, finally starting to think about the time. "Maybe we should put our wishes in and get ready to pass out so I black out on something that's not the ground and not on top of you." It was an amusing image to think of Wren trying to push her drunk, limp form off.

[Wren Harbinger] Wren nodded, craning her neck to the side to pop it. She felt heavy, and had long since been exhausted. The last time she'd been able to sleep was two nights prior, and it hadn't been for all that long before a nightmare had her stirring restlessly until the sun rose.
"Go ahead," she chimed, gesturing at the fire with her free hand and bringing her drink to her face to take a long draught. As she set the near empty glass down next to her, she stretched her arms above her head and arched her back, relieved as her joints gave satisfying cracks. "We can sleep in my bed," she said, yawning again. "It's big enough for two people."

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
As she did in fact have her wish in her hands, she crouched down in front of the fire and blew it in. "Being this close, I'd expect the fire to eat me up." Her eyes fixed on the flames. Each little spark was so hot and unique. It was stunning, really. However, Elin managed to turn her head to Wren. "I'm a virgin in bed. Be gentle with me." She managed a relatively stoic expression. It was true: she had never shared the same sleeping spot with someone before.

[Wren Harbinger] Finishing the remainder of her drink, Wren stood and set it on the coffee table before turning back to stuff her hands in the pockets of her jeans and look down at Elin, who was still looking into the fire. She giggled a little, leaning to blow out the candle she'd set there upon entering the room earlier. "Don't worry," her elbows bent in against her middle, pushing the thick cloth of the sweater back and causing it to outline her lithe abdomen tightly. "I've never slept with anyone before either," she said with a wink. She followed the seemingly sarcastic comment Elin had given with her own half-truth.
She'd had sleepovers with friends as a kid and shared beds with them, but in her drunken state, the whole thing seemed like a joke and she figured she may as well make fun of herself a bit. She was a 25 year old virgin, and often mucked it up to the fact that she was a bit serious and intimidating. What guy would've been interested?

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
She stood far too quickly, and pressed a hand against the stone above the fireplace, turning to see Wren. "Good, then I won't be the only clumsy one." It was almost like they were playing some sort of gay chicken: see who folds first under the pressuring innuendos. "I'd say I'm rather talented for someone like myself." Elin cleared her throat a little, "I do have good blood for such things, I've heard." Ah yes, the heritage on the non-Dera side...but that last name provided protection, to a degree.

[Wren Harbinger] She laughed again, shaking her head. "Need some help?" She shifted her weight back and forth on her feet to avoid upsetting her ankles. She hoped vacantly that they would feel better when she woke up. Elin's comment about blood piqued her interest, however, so her mind was drawn in another direction. She furrowed her brown and tilted her head, shooting the redhead an inquisitive look.
"What do you mean?"

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
Elin waved her free hand, "I'm fine." The light in her eyes seemed to dull as Wren inquired. "One of these days, this mouth of mine is gonna kill me." She sighed and forced a bit of laughter. "Well..." Her arms lifted to her sides a little, as if displaying herself with a bitter tone, "Behold, one of the great fugitive family: an Ackerman."

[Wren Harbinger] Wren sat back down on the couch, brow still drawn down in questioning. She had heard some things from some of the higher up vets about a family told by legend to have some sort of powerful origin. She'd mucked it up as gossip, fictional.
"Care to elaborate?" she asked, leaning to pour herself a small amount of the alcohol. "I mean, I think I've heard that name before. What does it mean exactly?"

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
She ran a hand through her damp, crimson hair. "All I know is just about every Ackerman fiction is fact, just about. At least, I have to believe that for anything to fit. I may have told you I don't know how I lost my parents? I do, in a way: they were hunted down." She picked up her glass and threw the remnants of her drink swiftly down her throat. "For...pick your reason, we're all supposed to be slaughtered." Elin exhaled. "I doubt it matters. If you don't want me around anymore though, I'd understand." The young woman stood their, her posture emphasizing the defeated tone of her voice. Her eyes showed anger for revealing this, feeling a weakness for confiding in someone when she would usually trust nobody. Even in a drunken state, disappointment in her actions seemed clear.

[Wren Harbinger] Wren focused closely on Elin as she spoke, hand gripping her glass gone white at the knuckles. What she said matched the rumors that had reared their heads occasionally in the barracks. She wondered what on earth would make a family so detestable that people were set on destroying them. Her brow furrowed, and she suddenly felt very angry, though she wasn't fully sure why. Elin just seemed so.. well, so damn normal and human that it wasn't fair for someone so admirable to be associated with such a negative thing. In a short time, she had brought Wren from feeling like a phantom, unseen by everyone around her, to feeling like her old self again: intense, determined, and protective.
She stood up quickly, downed the last of her drink and set the glass down before tucking her left arm behind her back and straightening herself. "If there's one thing Wren Harbinger is capable of, It's surviving despite unthinkable odds. Whether you want me to or not," her right fist thudded audibly against her sternum. "My duty is to defend my comrades at all cost, not just for their sake, but for my own. I'm taking it upon myself to protect you," she grinned. "And I'll hear nothing else of it."
She held her salute and began to feel a little less confident than she had before. The redhead's face had just shown such a sense of hopelessness. She pleaded mentally for it to be hopelessness of a temporary sort. Dropping her arms back to her sides, she looked down. "I just don't think it's fair. If anyone ever tried to hurt an innocent person in front of me-" she narrowed her eyes. "I think I would lose myself." -- ooc; sorry i wasn't on yesterday! that night class is kicking my a** man ;A;
