He kind of lamented the loss of Andrew's hands, though they didn't go too far, settling on his legs instead. Auguste was trying to figure out how to breathe properly again, but he was also wondering why he was being looked at in such a way, his ears tinging a light shade of pink. Had he been bad? Had it been unpleasant? Had -

Oh. Andrew was smiling now, which was reassuring. Auguste felt the uncertainty in his shoulders relax a little, and the hand that had been in his companion's hair slid down, fingers ghosting over Andrew's lips in an absentminded gesture.

"You have a very nice smile, you know," Auguste said, almost musingly, and then his hand fell away, and he offered the other man a grateful smile of his own. He accepted an offered mint and slipped it into his mouth, the coolness of it melting into his mouth.

"Oh," he said, and straightened, sitting up a little; he'd slumped slightly back against the car door during their little lesson, and his hair was frizzy in the back, more loose around his shoulders. "Yes, I do, I live with Nadia, if you know where she lives, it's just around the corner."

The touch against lips was a gentle gesture, one he had no claim to feel since the parting of his last relationship. The reminder (remainder?) of it left him at a pause, a brief recollection, before he disentangled himself from Auguste to join the driver's seat. He settled in, checked his mental faculties for the sobriety to drive, and reclaimed his keys from Auguste.Once he knew the other man was buckled properly, Isaiah started the car.

"I don't know where she lives, actually. I assume fairly close if you're out on a walk?" Unless Auguste made a habit of catching the bus, walking was key. Isaiah watched traffic for a moment to peel out, then did so smoothly during a dearth of oncoming cars. "For as forthcoming as they are, most of the people I've met haven't given me more than cell phone numbers. Maybe it's their way of keeping 'work life' separate from personal life. Hard to say.

"Tell me where to go and I'll get us there."

Auguste slid easily after Andrew to settle into the passenger seat in the front - sitting in the back while his friend drove seemed a little too much like being in a taxi; and besides, it was much easier to see him, this way, instead of having to stare at the back of his head.

"Yes, just down that street, there, and then down one turn to the left," said Auguste, with a little smile, as they pulled out into the road. He blinked curiously over and then said, "I wouldn't mind giving you my number, and you're welcome to come over anytime, if you'd like."

He already considered Andrew a friend, after all - and he knew he was friends with Nadia as well, which was why he was rather lacking in hesitation at telling him this. Auguste toyed with the ends of his hair and gave Andrew a smile as he turned his head to look at him.

"My number, too, if you want it," he said. "And it's here - turn left here."

The steering wheel glided through his hands, its rough surface boring against his skin pleasingly. Isaiah enjoyed driving in all capacities, and was dismayed to hear that Auguste lived so close. Naturally this meant a save in gas, in milage, in time but Isaiah would've preferred the opposite. Was it a desire for the company? he smiled to himself. Probably. It almost always is. Woe be the day that Zähne wants someone out of his car as quickly as possible. That would be Orah, I'd say.

What a joy that I haven't seen her face since.

When he reached the proper street and found the proper apartment context, he pulled up toward the loading area in front of the double doors. There he shifted the car to park, hesitated a moment as if to search for words, and ultimately offered nothing. Words failed him, and he tried to accept it. Instead he spared a glance to Auguste, who smiled so sweetly, and accepted the scrap of paper with Auguste's number written across. It was promptly placed into his cup holder where it fit neatly against the bottom.

"I'll remember you said that," he returned with a wry smile. "And you will, too, on the day when you're trying to evict my drunk a** from the couch. It was fun, Auguste. Take care. And who knows - we might be seeing more of each other." He wasn't even sure what that meant. Nothing about Auguste suggested that he frequented pawn shops, and even if he held the potential to become a knight or a scout, he may not run the same circles. And if he was a Negaverse agent...

You'll run with anything, won't you? Isaiah stifled the thought by asking himself if it were more appropriate to give Auguste a kiss goodbye, or if their interaction hadn't quite counted for a date. It probably wasn't.

You wouldn't like him any less if he were. In fact, you wouldn't fault him at all.

And they want you to be their friend.

Auguste felt no hesitation in providing Andrew with his number, and rather hoped that he would actually use it, scrawling it with neat, loopy handwriting on the back of a receipt he'd had in his pocket. He watched it being tucked away, and undid his seatbelt, eyes crinkling as he smiled over at the other man.

"I hope we see more of each other," he said, with obvious honesty.

There was hesitation on his part as well, Auguste wondering the same thing as Andrew was, unwittingly; if it was allowable, if it was even something that was supposed to be done at this moment in time. But he stopped overthinking it, stopped figuring out the mechanics or the complications, and simply gave in, leaning over and pressing a hand to his cheek. He kissed him softly, lightly, lingering for a moment before drawing away, a quiet smile on his face.

"Please do come over or call anytime," said Auguste, as his hand fell away and he opened the car door. "Truly, I wouldn't mind the company at all."

Isaiah returned the kiss in kind. He enjoyed them for the visceral response they provided, and Auguste looked quite privy to the same basic reactions. Isaiah watched while Auguste's pale hair shone in the sun, staining his vision with lurid tones that shifted from orange, green, purple, to midnight blue. "Of course," he answered with a grin. "Why would I pass up a chance to bother you and Nadia?" And likely Lorne too, if the three often spent time there.

Lorne, Auguste, Nadia, Colin, Kam... I suppose I'm not a drifter anymore. Absently his fingers strayed to his lips, and he looked to his old I-Pass still lodged behind his rearview mirror. It's odd to settle somewhere again. And maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing if this were Cleveland or New York or Orlando, but... This is a warzone. And I can't just tell the lot of them to get up and move to another city, especially if they have family here.

But beyond that, I wonder what this means to Scholomance.

I wonder what this means to me.

Isaiah shelved the thoughts when he started the engine. Shifting into reverse, he pulled out of the complex parking lot with his mind still lingering on the recent turn of events. From there he passed into traffic, a silent traveler heading toward his destination.
