Ataya hummed. “Well, I appreciate your generosity,” he said, “but I try not to make a habit of leaving myself indebted to anyone. It feels like leaving…loose ends, in a way. As such, your kindness aside, I assure you that I personally would feel more comfortable if I had the opportunity to reimburse you in some manner. Besides, you have a daughter to care for, a home, supplies that will need restocking…” He flicked his fingers casually. “It seems the least I can do for the ‘cause.’”
At the older man’s hovering, Ataya resisted the urge to make comment, and instead shook his head, brushing the voiced concerns aside.
“Quite alright,” he assured the healer aloud. “Walking on my own is actually something I’ve managed for over a decade, though I appreciate your concern. I am sure you did a marvelous job removing any need for me to be dependant.”
So, together they went. In Junjie’s wake, Ataya made note of the location of Tukyere’s library as well as decent, nearby lodgings. On his brief return to the healer’s abode, he gathered his things, and made payment to Junjie in the form of several valuables obtained from the bandits who had attacked him. That managed, he bid the hybrid physician good day — as well as his daughter — and set out to arrange for temporary residence in the inn pointed out to him. He had no idea how long to expect insofar as it came to waiting on Dysarrin’s delayed arrival, but a modest, secure room with near access to the city library seemed as optimal as he was going to get.
So, after settling himself in, he began his wait.
