It didn't stop Dawson from looking hangdog about it, like he had been the one who shat on the rug. But it didn't feel right just to get up and go like that either.
"Hey." He hesitated, then thumped his chest twice: a familiar gesture.

He hesitated. "You don't have to do that just because you feel bad for me. I'm a big boy."

He hesitated for a second more, but in the end he stepped forward to wrap himself in Daws's hug. It was hard to separate himself from the Chris that would need this comfort and reassurance. The ghost of the real one's panic bubbled in his chest, but he didn't have time to worry about it. He still had a mission to complete to make all this work out.
He pulled back with a quiet sniffle. "Alright well. Slap one big no homo on all that. I'm gonna go see if Chel wants to work out or hang out or something. I'll see you later?"

He grasped Chris tightly, even more than his usual bear hugs. Those carried with them the sort of easy warmth that had attracted Chris in the first place. This one, however, was needier, apologetic and reassuring all at once. Dawson even tucked his chin against Chris's shoulder, a sort of peace offering on top of all of that. Some days, he was ashamed of his man baby attitude; others, like now, he couldn't begin to feel self-conscious.
Eventually, with a small slap to the back, Chris was finally let go. Dawson chuckled under his breath and got up from the bed. The hug had helped; he could feel calmer about this, more normal. "Sure thing, bruh. Let's get some beer later this week, yeah?" And with that, he turned and left the room, rubbing the scruff on his chin some more as he sighed to himself.
