Nightshade turned and batted at his hand her tail flicking playfully. Shaye reached out to pet her lazily, "She has a sibling that belongs to my sister. So that would be trio of special felines in the family." Shaye leaned back and smiled as he watched the two of them. "I can understand the appeal of wanting a dog. They have big emotions and cats are sometimes very aloof." He took another drink from his glass and relaxed.

Ray chuckled and wiggled his fingers tauntingly at the black feline, moving his hand back when her owner tried to soothe her back down from all his teasing. "Ah, that's is a lot of cats, indeed. How on earth does your family manage to keep all your porcelains intact given their innate dislike of all things they can bats off of counter-tops?" he asked with a hum, taking another sip from his glass as he threw an arm over the back of the couch and relaxed down into the green felt.

Shaye watched with a smile as he saw Ray relax and wondered for a breif moment of he should tell Ray the truth. That these cats understood speech and commands because they were familiars and not just a regular pet. He decided that a clever half truth would suffice. "Training and strategically placed throw pillows," he said with a chuckle. "Honestly, I think my mothers had more trouble worrying about knickknacks while raising us."

Ray chuckled, imagining the process of training a cat and coming up with only hilarious shenanigans. He raised at brow, however, at the second part of the other man's comment. "Bit of a troublemaker, were you?" he asked, grinning as he took another sip, "I'll bet you were the worst of the lot." The thought of a such a kind stranger being anything but a polite child was almost unfathomable - though, he had a sneaking suspicion that having two mothers meant twice the manners being ingrained into the kids at a young age. Ray, for himself, thought if he concentrated hard enough he might still be able to feel the 'whack' of good old Sister Mary Edwards' ruler.

Shaye could not help the mischievous grin that spread onto his face, a trait he earned from more wild mother and her parents. "At times I was a troublemaker, my grandmother often encouraged that kind of behavior actually. Though I suppose it fluctuated between my brother and I in the title for the worst." He moved to take another long drink looking over the glass almost as if analyzing Ray. He was intrigued about the male so he intended on learning more. "And you? What was your childhood like, my friend?"

Ray tilted his head back and laughed a true laugh - the kind that made one's abdomen hurt and other people look over which anything from interest to annoyance. "Ah, nothing like having sweet old grannie to tempt you into evil, eh?", he said with a fierce smile at the other man, eyes twinkling mirthfully. A panic attack avoided and some excellent Powers in him and he was right as rain. Perhaps there was some magic afoot in his liquor of choice? It wouldn't surprise him - the stuff came straight from the motherland or not at all!
He quirked a brow at the next question, taking another sip from his glass. "My childhood? Ah, well, you can already guess I was a part of the Naughty Child Club, same as you - Irish Division, of course. I, uh, was raised by my mom for a while but she and my dad were in the military so we kept having to base-hop every couple of years. In the end, my sister and I were raised by my grannie - my mom's side, of course." He quieted for a moment, scowling into his glass. Was that enough? The rest felt too personal, too raw, for a first conversation.

Shaye smiled as Ray laughed and began to laugh as well. True laughter was always infectious. As his died he gently shook his head the beads in his hair clattered softly. If only he knew how his grandmother was oddly playful yet serious and very protective. How she egged on their playful natures while still watching them closely. He looked up again and studied Ray's face once more. The genuine smile lines nothing forced at all, that pure and deep sound. He found he liked it. Mainly though he was glad to see Ray relax fully. As a healer he liked helping others feel better.
Nightshade took it upon herself to return to Ray and curl up against his side. She looked at Shaye when he looked at her curiously. Shaye could hear her voice clearly in his head. What? He smells like clovers. Of course he turned his attention back to Ray when he spoke of his family. Seeing the male's scowl he bit back a sigh. He had pushed too far. He drank down some more of his own glass of whiskey. What was he to say in response to that? He smiled softly at him trying to keep the mood light, “Need another drink, Ray? Ray shook off his disquieted feelings with a small shake of his head, tipping up his glass and finishing his liquor with one fell swooped. It burned at it slid down his throat, making his eyes go a bit glassy as he coughed quietly. His scowl melted off into a quiet, delighted smile when Nightshade returned to curl up against his side, holding out his fingers cautiously to let her sniff them before gently stroking her soft black fur. "What a pretty thing you are." he cooed, grinning at Shaye with a wink. "Careful, mate. I think your little lady is trying to seduce me." He blinked when the other man offered to get him another drink, snorting and holding out his glass with a lazy hand. "Ah, perhaps I should be the one being careful, eh? With the two of you tag-teaming me - it almost makes me feel welcome!" Ray laughed, smile easy once again.Kyriana Razian (You did well! Sorry my response is so late! <3)

Shaye smirked as Ray spoke and glanced at his companion nearly in the males lap. He really couldn't help himself in his reply. "She might be and honestly I can't blame her." He winked at the male as he took the glass. "You are welcome, Ray. We both enjoy your company." He moved over to the bar to refill both of their drinks. ChibiWrites (Short reply is short. I don't mind sometimes it takes me forever to reply too. Shaye and I were having an argument. Besides this RP is definitely worth the wait.)
