KO gave a brief laugh and nodded. "Well, that's true at any rate, okay, good." he did want answers and if there was any chance of picking up clues from this, maybe a hint of something didn't belong, then he wasn't going to argue.
"So...." KO looked about to make sure somebody wasn't about to walk over with their food. Once assured they weren't he lent forward a little, fingers laced a hands resting on the table. "To put it out in the open you think that I died, and they use Xerneas to bring me back?"

Tambrey resisted the urge to balk.
To put it quite so /plainly/ was to sound out just... how unscientific, how... science fiction, or fantastical it sounded...
"I, um, suppose I wouldn't use quite those words, but as I don't know what words I /would/ use, and, um, given the conclusions I've... found myself arriving at... I suppose that, well, sums it up as well as I could right now..." And /that/ was very frustrating...

KO sat back again, drumming his fingers restlessly on the table and frowning. He wasn't sure what he'd been hoping she'd say, or expecting her to say. "It sounds like the plot of a cheap novel," he said with a shake of his head. It wasn't possible but he was alive and he shouldn't be, and something had caused his communication type to switch. "I had a look around online, I couldn't find any stories - factual stories I mean - about people starting out speaking to one type and then switching to another. It could be coincidence though, maybe near death experiences shift... whatever it is that sets your type. It would help a lot if we knew what that even was to begin with."

Tambrey raised her eyebrows; anecdotal stories- an avenue of research that hadn't actually occurred to her yet; of course, if one had shown up with something similar to KO's situation (well, within reason) and come with similar effects, that would have put an interesting, if more sensible, spin on things... But...
"It could be. And would. A huge amount. Um. Psychic, for me, and I cannot think of any reason /why/... But... It's a big coincidence that, um, out of all the types you happened to get, uh, well... That."

"It's kind of funny though," KO said with a half smile. "I mean, with what I was saying to the champion and everything about big faeries."

A half smile with an apologetic tone; Tambrey didn't entirely remember the details of the conversations they'd had with the Champion anymore; a lot of the mission had run, over time, into a blended mess capped with the all too clear escape to the jet and the events following that. She remembered the gist of it though, at least. "Mhm. I wonder... " The thoughts of it led elsewhere to things she hadn't allowed herself to move onto and consider before that point. "I wonder what she made, or the people of Kalos made, of all that... commotion. I wonder how widespread those rampaging pokémon were being drawn from..." There had been flying types, capable of quite a journey in a short time, after all...

"Humm, good question," KO replied with a shrug to indicate his own ignorance. "I mean, I know she reported what happened to the league... so I guess the news is out that Team Rocket captured Xerneas? And I wonder whatever happened to those rangers, we dumped them near the jet right? So did they get trampled by the stampede?" What an unpleasant way to die; tied up, probably conscious by the time it happened, unable to escape.... KO shivered, finished his drink, and topped up their glasses from the pitcher. He could imagine their feeling of terror and helplessness all too easily and though not usually one for a huge amount of empathy for people he didn't care about... Ugh. "Perhaps they got free," he suggested.

Tambrey's face paled slightly again; after all that had happened, all the time and revelation and recovery, she'd actually entirely forgotten the position of the rangers compared to where the pokémon had come from.
"Uh. Yes. I'm sure they got free." She nodded, though her eyes were just slightly wide, and the nod a bit quick. "I mean... They'd, um, have to have had a lot of survival training, right? So, that probably, um... helped them get free..."

Humm, maybe he shouldn't have brought that up. Oh well, it was said now and he couldn't change that; KO nodded. "Yeah, they were probably okay. Oh! Look, here comes our food." Good timing.
The food was ciabatta bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, some olives, and seasoned sweet potato wedges with a range of dips; KO had been tempted by a chorizo dish on the menu before he'd remembered Tambery was vegetarian but what turned up looked good so he didn't feel like he'd missed out.
"So," he said once the waiter had gone, cutting a chunk off the ciabatta and dipping it in the oil, "if we're done chewing all of that over for now, how's things in the lab in general? Working on anything fun?"

Food! Food was good; a better thought than the mental one of the rockets twirling handlebar mustaches as they tied up Kalos rangers and left them to their fates that Tambrey'd edged into, feeling really rather guilty about the actual situation...
She half wanted to check back through the news out of Kalos and half didn't, just in case... One part of her brain tried very hard to reconcile that the pokémon would have realised they weren't enemies/weren't the rockets and would have been friendly and helpful or avoided them... But the terrifying frenzied horde she remembered didn't entirely gel with the behaviour she hoped had been there...
Better to focus on the food... Which /did/ look really, really good. Olives! Potato wedges... Ciabatta... Her stomach made a pleased noise, and gave a kick that surprised her; she hadn't realised she was quite so hungry after all...
"Um..." What had occurred since the mission? Plenty, really, she supposed... "Well, we tried swapping out some of the growth tank solutions but, um, our work," referring to herself and KO specifically there "isn't really done to be honest. They're showing an improvement in efficiency and, performing safely and as hoped, but they could definitely be further optimized... Um. Oh! I've... become very very familiar with some prehistoric genomes now. We've resurrected a number of Amaura, Omanyte, and a couple of Cranidos directly from cell lines recovered from fossilized sources..." What else? "Um.. Standard cloning and deviant sequencing continues, though I helped create a very pretty Milotic for Grunt, uh, Pulsar recently."

"Mmmh," KO said in a pleased tone of voice, it was all he could immediately offer as he had his mouth full. "I'm glad to hear that we're going in the right direction. You've been making use of the solution for rock types a fair bit then?..." Oh, and Pulsar. A frown flickered over KO's face for a moment as he reached for a sweet potato wedge, he wasn't sure what to do about what had happened yet. He liked Lex but... well, they obviously needed to talk. He should probably go look him up when they got back to base, or maybe tomorrow would be better. Probably tomorrow.

"Oh, yes! A lot! Um. Actually, even for one of my own. Agent Aulus brought a sample back from the fossil desposit for me, to, uh, play with really. I managed to grow a Cranidos out of what I could recover. She's divergent in pigmentation compared to a baseline normal subject of the species, but, um, her growth was successful, so her creation was a success on a couple of different fronts..." She tilted her head at the frown, raising her brows in question.

"I can't remember which one Cranidos is I'm afraid," KO admitted with a wry smile and a small shrug. "I'm glad she came out well though! And... ah...." He sighed. "Well after I parted ways from you I got hold of Pulsar to let him know I was alive, and somehow he ended up asking me out on a date about five or ten minutes into the conversation. I was a bit surprised, it got awkward, he left and I haven't spoken to him since."

"Oh. Uh. Little dinosaur with a dome on its head. Cute but wants to headbutt everything. Or fight everyone... At least, uh, Millicent, mine, does..." Tambrey explained quickly, than allowed her mouth to gain a sympathetic quirk upward at one corner, softening her expression, but hesitatingly admitting that:
"Ah. Ah, uh. Yes... I, um, kind of heard about that... Awkward but, um, I suppose, despite the inappropriateness, you can... see where the lack of restraint might have come from?" She asked, quizzically; she definitely agreed the whole thing was a bit awkward but... she couldn't shake that she /got/ it, the motive for doing so as Pulsar had...

"Yes, I can certainly see that," KO agreed. He debated mentioning the 'convenient' fortunes, and then the mention of meds.... No, no that wasn't his business to tell anyone else at least not the last part and the first was probably innocent. Lex had seen the fall of the coins and... well, been Lex. "I'll go talk to him soon, when I figure out what to say," KO concluded with a wry smile and a shrug. "It's not the end of the world... just awkward."
