Without stopping to rest, he moved on to the next spider. He would take a couple of them down before checking his supplies. He always had good luck doing that. At least he did when he was killing them, anyway. This was a whole new ballgame, and he really wasn't sure what to expect. Could mobs stand back up after being tamed? And then he could tame the augmented monster, and get an even bigger . Oh, God yes, this was exactly what he needed to reaffirm his love of grinding, even in a game where grinding was supposed to be frowned upon. he was high enough level that even augmented spiders couldn't do anything to him, and he could take hits all day while he was taming them, leveling his light armor and his evasion as he went. He was still working toward his new build, even while farming an entirely new combat skill.

He raised his hand and prepared for combat, not even knowing what he was fighting. Assumptions could be made, due to where he was fighting, that it was a Gloomweave Spider, since he'd not seen any other wildlife here, but it could just as easily be another player, in which case his throwing bait at them would probably make them laugh long enough to be skewered by Alyx' sword. A list of instructions outlining exactly how unlucky he'd gotten. That's fine. But he had a way out; he could refine the into something purer. He still didn't know exactly what they could be used for, but having them be a higher grade had to be worth it in the end, right? I mean, if you're offered a rusted sword or a gilded sword in a videogame, you're typically going to assume that the gilded sword is better, especially if the rusted sword can be refined into the gilded sword. He nodded. He just had to collect enough of them to refine a perfect , and he figured he'd be ready to test his skills out in a true challenge.

Just a minor pressure, like that of a gentle brushing as you walked past someone in a crowded hallway. He laughed and raised his hand to deliver the next dose of bait at melee range. It seemed to be more effective like that. It might be luck, but it might also be a feature; to encourage reward for taking a little risk. Of course, there was no risk for Alyx, so it made no difference to him besides the convenience inherent in taming the spider more quickly. He smiled and took a breath. There was something satisfying about doing all this. Not just killing the spiders, but harvesting them to create something new. This was going to be an entertaining pastime, though he wasn't totally sure that he was going to devote as much time to it as he could; he was, primarily, a tank, and while having a pet would assist in all of his endeavors, he needed his primary combat skills to remain sharp in order to still be effective. Splitting his attention between too many combat skills would gimp him in the long run. Although, he figured that if he farmed even harder, he would be able to make up for that detriment. Diversifying himself only raised his skill cap and stats, so it wasn't a total loss. He would quickly hit the cap of his OHSS and block if he was only farming those skills, as he had before. He was having way too much fun with this, and if this game ever made hand grenades a thing, he would probably have a new job. That was a thought. Over fifty percent tamed. Alyx could do this all day. But he had to be careful. At 10 gil a throw, this had the potential to drain his coffers quickly if he got too excited about it. When the time came, he needed to balance his need for bait versus his need for gil, and now that he'd actually started running into other players, his dreams of a guild and a hall in which to settle that guild were able to come to fruition. He hadn't heard of any guilds being formed, and he wasn't sure exactly how to do it, but he knew that the first step to building a house was to have a plot of land on which to build it. He didn't know exactly where to purchase the plot of land, but he was sure that he didn't have enough money for it yet, and this errand of his was only going to cost him more money, no matter how much he enjoyed it. So far, he was getting his money back, but what happened when he moved on to bigger prey? When they took more than one or two baits to tame? He'd earned a couple goodies by now, surely. He looked around to make sure he wouldn't get ambushed and began to salivate as he wondered what he might have received. A flawless ? A perfect one? No. It wasn't smart to get his hopes up. But he still held that faintest candle-light flicker of hope as he checked his earnings. At the very least he'd have gotten a point in beastmaster, making this task a little faster and himself a little stronger. He was definitely in favor of getting stronger.
