Nadia took another sip and though she couldn't hear the words, she could hear sounds.
Whatever Colin's methods were, it seem to be working.
She kept her eyes closed and sighed. The goop was starting to soak in and it felt amazing.
But she couldn't help thinking of Plou and his body, held up by the blue haired general queen.
What did they do about that?

"Yeah..." Comfort where he could. Lorne flashed him a smile - it was a tired grin, but a grin nonetheless.
In that future, there had been no Colin - or he hadn't met him. There had been no Nadia. Even if he didn't say anything, the page just kind of stared at his friend for a minute, his eyes bright with emotion. I'm so glad I met you.
"Wow is right, " Lorne breathed out, running his fingers through his hair with a low groan. Weren't him and the captain like, practically the same height? - he wouldn't imagine what kind of power that guy had been packing if he managed to pull a move like that. (He still felt a pang in his chest when he thought of the boy he'd left there. He'd been hoping the kid would follow, but... he should have taken his hand. Something, anyway.)
Lorne made an audible sound (almost a squeak) when Colin slipped the hand under his shirt and squirmed, nodding mutely as his face burned because he knew he'd make good on his threat. He sat up, carefully moving to tug his shirt over his head. He ran his fingers through the longer sections of his hair to push it out of his eyes, and even took the time to turn his shirt right-side out and fold it before he finally glanced sheepishly back at Colin again. "Go ahead. - b-but I really bruise easy, so don't worry too much, " he added hastily. "Really."
Really, it more or less lined up with how he'd hit the ground - splotchy and dark and angry along his side, mostly - a little bit seeped around to his back.
You'd think he'd be less self-conscious considering he went around with his midriff exposed as Mont Blonc (never mind the aftermath of the last failed rescue) ... but this was Lorne after all, so he'd settled back into a familiar slouch, fidgeting all the while. Plus this was Colin, and even if Colin was a friend, he was very close and let's face it, a very good looking friend.

Lorne's expression was so damned open, it was almost like reading his mind. Gratitude and affection, the sink of words soaking into the soul like balm. Colin had soothed Nadia's wounds and here were Lorne's wounds, being soothed as well. Even so, the blond had refocused upon seeing the extensive bruising - he knew the look of something that spread further than the slice of bared skin he could see. His friend would not escape. The blushing was just too much, it made him want to push and tease and see just how far it could go. But he wouldn't, at least not by actually trying. Distracting Lorne was fine, pushing him to the point his head exploded from the surge of blood to his brain was a bit much. "Hmmm..." Colin was giving him a measuring look, then using hands and eyes to take stock of the damage; he clearly had experience doing this sort of thing and his touch was light but sure. He was correct, this was just a nasty bruise. "Okay, you'll live. But you're going to be stiff as hell if you don't do something to help the muscles not lock up." "Liniment is good for that. They used it on horses." The blond's lips curved up, expression mischievous, "People use it too, of course. Smells like a devil, but it's helpful." Now where had he left it last? Was it in the bathroom or the bedroom? Or was it just roaming about, set down somewhere when Colin wasn't thinking about it? "I thiiink it's in here." Cue the blond stretching to dig through an under-the-sink cabinet; clearly he didn't trust Lorne to allow him to treat him if he allowed the dark-haired man to get up. Finding the half-empty bottle with it's syrup-colored contents would get ah triumphant sound and then he opened it and the sharp, stinging scent filled the small room. He quickly capped it shut, shaking his head. "You get to choose. It really will help though." Colin waggled the bottle slowly at Lorne as if to say 'you want this, you doooo'.

Lorne relaxed as Colin looked him over; the color in his cheeks faded, although it never really left him. In any case, he wished he hadn't bothered Colin with it since he knew from the start it was nothing, but... some part of him kind of like that anyone cared enough to worry.
Even as he resisted a satisfied little smile to hear that it was, in fact, just a bruise, Lorne's eyes widened with surprise when Colin went ahead and offered him something for it. "I never knew there was anything that helped bruises - " Or that horse cream could be used on people, but given everything, he wasn't going to question Colin on that one. He trusted him. But -"How bad's the smell?" he asked a little timidly, sitting up in a cross legged position on the floor.
Even if he trusted Colin completely, he didn't really trust that smile at all.

"Well, it doesn't actually do anything for the bruise, really. It just helps keep your muscles from locking up under it, making it worse." Colin smiled even more broadly at Lorne's question, eyes bright in a way they hadn't been for some time. "Oh, it'll knock you on your a**. Make you tear up, sting your nose. It's pretty awful." He opened the cap and offered the opened container to his friend. "You know, I take it back. You don't get a choice, 'cause I'm not gonna have you waking up stiff. I'd put it on Nadia too, but she's got other problems." Once he'd allowed Lorne to wince away from the scent, the blond whistled a bit and smacked out some of the liniment into one palm so he could rub it into Lorne's bruised side gently. Any protesting would be shushed with a non-gooped finger to open mouth and a soft "Shhh, it'll be over soon." Once he'd turned the dark haired page into a sharply-scented piece of human, he capped the bottle and chucked it back under the sink. "There. Put your shirt back on, it'll help filter the smell." Colin pushed up gracefully and straightened, offering a hand to help get Lorne back on his feet so they could exit the bathroom together. "Okay guys, I'm going to make you something to drink and then we're going to get ready for bed. Nadia, you can take the couch if you want? Or I can make you a place in the bedroom." Because he knew what it was like to be hurting inside and out and not wanting to be alone. "Lorne and I will share the bed." Colin slipped into the kitchen and started rummaging around in his fridge and then cupboards. They needed nutrients to help their bodies heal - so he would break out some glasses and make three small servings of chocolate malt flavored Muscle Milk. Very small. "Here, drink this. It'll help your bodies heal. Sorry if you don't like chocolate." Colin had carried all three glasses out and offered one to each of his friends. If they tried to argue, unless they were allergic, he wouldn't brook it. Lorne got a measuring look - he was more likely to argue than Nadia, who seemed to accept his instruction more easily than the dark-haired man.

... nope, really didn't trust the smile at all. But Colin's eyes were so bright, Lorne just didn't have it in him to protest. Would Colin have even let him refuse? - nope, there was his answer, the option was gone, there there was the stench. He wriggled in place subconsciously, his nose wrinkling.
Lorne knew he probably could have applied the liniment himself, probably, even if Colin was completely right about the stench - he tried to breathe through his mouth instead, but that just made it feel like he was tasting the stuff instead of smelling it and - he could have just applied the stuff himself. But that was a choice he knew wouldn't be offered (even if he tried on principle), and frankly he was a little grateful. He was too busy focusing on holding his breath for seconds at a time, the ideal solution even if his eyes still watered.
Still, though. Even if it smelled absolutely awful, the whole thing felt really nice. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on that, and at least one pleased little hum escaped without him realizing it.
When he was offered the chance to re-dress, he gladly and quickly did, noting to himself how Colin always managed to move so smoothly - him and Nadia both, really, were so graceful. Then there was him, flailing around all over the place. The thought made him half-smile as he took Colin's hand and hoisted himself up, first onto his knees, then standing to his full height. "Thank you, " he mumbled quickly, hurriedly. "For all that - I'm sorry, " and that was that; he wouldn't have felt right not saying it once more.
Lorne's face flushed by reflex at the mention of a shared bed, and he tried to ward it off. Not a big deal, not a big deal... There was something else that was sort of a big deal, though. His gaze fell on Nadia, and another tiny little knot of guilt wormed its way into his stomach. He sidled closer to her, but not too close - even if his shirt was helping, he was still a smelly mess. Like Colin had said before, she had her own stuff she was dealing with. He didn't want to disrupt any bubble of comfort she'd snuggled into. "I'm sorry I ran off, " he apologized quietly as Colin bustled about the kitchen, making drinks. "And for other things, I... I really... I am."
When it came to the Muscle Milk, Lorne didn't utter so much as a peep of protest. The last thing he wanted to do tonight was cause more trouble. So he took a deep breath (and regretted that, oh god the liniment) and then promptly downed the glass, gulping it down until it was all gone. It helped that he was thirstier than he'd realized.
It didn't help that when he lowered the glass, he was sporting an impressive little chocolate mustache.

Nadia was almost in a sleep dream state when the boys came back. She cracked an eye, took a deep inhale from her nose and laughed.
"Liniment." She was aware of the smell and the use, her head rolling over to look at Lorne. "We've had a tough night." She whispered, "We'll be okay." She winked at him.
She wasn't worried as much for Lorne as she was Colin now. The man was...acting normal, being normal. After the news, after the feelings. After patching them up?
She took the milk, drank it slowly. Her eyes widened and she shook her head.
"Please...I can sleep in the floor." She smiled sheepishly, not trying to sound desperate. "I just..don't want to be alone."

Easy as cake and pie... Teasing Lorne, that was. The guy just made it too easy and Colin really couldn't help himself; nor could he help the chuckles that kept coming up as he rubbed the liniment into his friend's battered torso."Yeah, mouth-breathing just makes you taste it. Sorry, shoulda warned you." At least Lorne seemed to enjoy the warmth that the stuff caused, which was nice - it meant he wasn't just torturing his poor friend. The gracefulness that Lorne admired in his friends was entirely due to ballet and if the dark-haired page had spent as much time doing the fundamentals of ballet as they had, he'd be pretty damned graceful too. Thanks mumbled in his direction had caused him to pause in escaping the bathroom just long enough to take Lorne's face and pull it down so he could put a gentle kiss to his forehead. "I told you, I've got your back." There was no way in hell he would let these precious people get devoured by Chaos if he could help it. You guys will never end up like Ploutonion. I won't let it happen, I swear on my life.Colin tossed his drink back like it was nothing - which for him, it really wasn't - and nodded at Nadia. He'd had a feeling she'd want to be with them - and aw, look. Lorne was blushing like a virgin again over sharing a bed with him. Also, there was a mustache of chocolate malt clinging to his upper lip. "That's fine, I'd offer you the bed, but you're burnt and we'd bump you...it'd just be bad. You can leave the glasses out here, I'll deal with them in the morning. Come on guys, let's take this party to the bedroom." If he seemed okay, it was because he wanted to seem okay. Colin's insides were twisting up, his eyes ached from the strain of not crying. Having Nadia and Lorne to focus on helped a lot; the blond would lead them down a short hall past the bathroom and into his Trekked-out bedroom, glancing back to make sure his little ducklings would follow along as they should. The better part of his room was taken up by a rather large, solid looking bed covered by a dark blue and silver striped duvet. A matching dresser sat under a window at the far end of the room and a sizable closet finished the rest. The blond surveyed the space critically, there would be enough room for her if he made a bed in front of his closet, at the foot of the bed. Good thing I've got plenty of blankets..."Just sit on the bed while I get stuff ready." First things first, digging inside his closet for thick blankets to make a temporary mattress pad, sheets and a light blanket to go over that, and a fluffy pillow he stuffed - almost angrily - into a Star Trek pattern pillow case. Once he'd fixed up a space for Nadia that was acceptable to him, Colin went to his dresser and started digging around for pajamas for himself and Lorne. "Lorne, you want a pants or you gonna sleep in your shorts? Nadia, do you want anything to sleep in?" For his own part in the bedtime preparations, the blond shimmied out of his own pants and into some soft pj bottoms - his shirt was soft enough to sleep in. "I'll take the wall side of the bed." I'm less likely to stumble around in the middle of the night, maybe accidentally stomp Nadia in confusion.frayedflower Sorry I went so far buuut really it was all for bedtiem! At the kiss, if anyone was surprised that Lorne blushed a little, they clearly didn't know him well enough. But it was such a gentle thing, and with the promise that came with it, Lorne smiled brightly back at him. In what was a very impulsive move for him (he tried to act without thinking - he probably wouldn't have done it at all otherwise), he threw his arms around Colin's shoulders and tugged him in for a tight, if short (and smelly), hug.
"You too."
There had to be a way to do more. There had to be ways to try harder than he was.
All over again, his grin was sheepish as Nadia pinpointed the smell without batting an eye. So maybe he took advantage of being lanky and reached over, just gently brushing his fingers through her hair before he pulled away again. Lorne wasn't completely sure what it was that washed over him when she admitted she didn't want to be alone - was it endearing? Was he feeling protective? - he just wanted to see her happy.
Luckily, Colin was right on top of it, like he was on top of everything. Even if he knew he shouldn't, Lorne couldn't help the tiny twist of guilt that laced through him. It all shouldn't have to fall to him and Nadia, damnit. - but he'd already resolved to do more, somehow. He would. It might take awhile, but he'd get there.
He thought all this very seriously as he dragged his tongue across his upper lip to try and wipe the mustache away. When that didn't work, he subtly tried to use his sleeve instead.
Okay, so - bedroom time. He thought to hang back and offer Nadia a hand getting there if she needed it. This was okay, he reminded himself. Just like a slumber party. He tried to remember the last time he'd been to a slumber party, and dully realized that, yes, he'd read about them and seen them in movies, but he'd never actually been to one before. Unless they were having half-naked pillow fights and playing truth or dare (god he hoped not), those didn't do him a lick of good.
Lorne plopped down at the edge of the bed to watch Colin as he bustled around making Nadia's sleep space. He didn't really know much about Star Trek, but he did know the bed was soft under his and it felt all kinds of inviting. It took some will power not to just flop backwards and lay there.
"No, no, my shorts are fine. Thank you, " and somehow, that didn't embarrass Lorne half as much as anything else. In fact, he didn't turn at all pink, even when he slipped his pants off, folded them, and set them to a side. Probably because he wore boxers, and that still left plenty to the imagination in his book.

Nadia was still sipping her milk when Colin called attention to the now moving party of three. She, before Lorne could move his arm, kissed the wrist and then got up with them. It hurt like hell but the goop was helping and she walked, like a normal graceful walk she had. She was hurt, but be goddamn if Haumea was gonna take away the grace she carried.
"I understand Colin." Nadia smiled at him, gathering the glasses together at least on the table. "I wouldn't want to sleep next to Liniment there anyways." She winked at Lorne to let him know she was joking. "I just...need to be close." Closer then a couch at least. She hated that it was selfish and she hated she caused Colin to work harder for it but...
She rose a brow, and instead of leaning on the bed, stayed in the doorway to watch him.
She couldn't help wanting to lighten the mood, though she knew they would all be having some sort of nightmares tonight. "You know, this looks like a good set up for a porno." She teased again, pointing at Lorne as he took of his pants. "Handsome. Please. You can't blush while taking off pants." She was in her underwear after all so..."If you have a large shirt. I can probably just use that." And she would save the boys the trouble by at least changing in the bathroom. She wanted to take her bra off at least, so it didn't rub anything.
After bed time prep was done, she slid into her makeshift bed and laid there, flat and on her back, her head slightly propped. Her eyes went to the room. Colin would be a nerd. Star trek? She actually chuckled a little at that. It was....
so sad. Plou would never see this. Them. She squeezed her eyes shut.
"What...is the thing on your dresser Colin?"

"It's not so bad, once we're under blankets." He wasn't going to mention that he'd be changing his bedding as soon as possible over it either - because he would've done that even if it had been him with the stuff on. Colin was still feeling fragile, but Lorne's sudden hug had helped some, as did having two people to focus on caring for. He'd be okay. Actually, he'd end up laughing because of Nadia's comment about their set-up being good for porn. "Oh my god." And then, before his brain could register whether or not his next words were a good idea, Colin opened his mouth. "Not as good as my last bedroom, more room for a tripod." This was something he knew for a fact - he had proof! - though he wasn't about to show either of his friends the aforementioned proof. Colin would give her one of his larger t-shirts, soft and well worn, with a faded screen-printed Star Trek logo. While she was changing the blond tested out her bedding - it was soft enough she would probably be comfortable - before picking up his phone and sending off a message. His friends were hurt, he was not going to be waking up at 6 am. Hell, he would probably not go in to work until the afternoon, if at all. That done, he turned his bedside lamp on, turned off the main light and then pulled the covers down so he could climb into his bed and tuck his phone under his pillow. "C'mon Lorne, I promise I don't bite without asking. I should warn you though, I'm a big cuddler. You'll probably wake up with me plastered to you. Sorry in advance." Nadia settled in, Lorne could handle turning the lamp off, when they were ready. But of course she had to ask about his plush Tribble. "It's a Tribble plush I had made. It's really soft." His sister had loved the damned thing and often teased him about stealing it to sleep with. "Do you want to see it?" Colin wasn't going to get up now that he was on the inside and against the wa, but he could nudge Lorne into it, right?

"Nadia, I wouldn't want to sleep with me tonight either, " he offered with a small, tentative smile, sliding his fingers over the place she'd kissed on his wrist.
Lorne had actually been totally okay with taking off his pants without getting flustered up until the porno crack happened - then he blushed, although he didn't do anything silly like tug his pants back on or anything. He wanted to say something, even if it was simple and inane, something to try and do what the others were doing and lighten the mood instead of drag it back down.
"I'd be a terrible porn star."
And somehow that happened in the softest little voice he had. Lorne stayed stubbornly red in the face and he tried to smile or laugh or something to do with it, but instead he sort of just ended up staring down awkwardly at the floor. (He kind of longed to sink into it and never come back.)
But Colin's comments made him smile, even chuckle softly, even if the burning colors on his face persisted. "That's - I - if you want to wake up smelling like liniment tomorrow, then by all means." That was a response he was happier with, although he wished he could get through even a single day without stumbling over his own tongue.
Lorne was really more than happy to take care of the tiny things, like the lights and fetching the furball of a Tribble for Nadia - it wasn't much, but it was something he could do for them. He would've done anything they needed, even if there wasn't much he could offer.

"I think we'd all be really terrible, or really amazing." She yawned, taking the furball that Lorne had offered and then as the lights blinked out. She was quiet for a bit, turning on her side that wasn't so burned and holding the tribble very carefully.
"It's very soft...." She whispered and closed her eyes. She felt exhausted, but her mind wasn't quite ready to sleep. She held the small plush for the most of the night.
She didn't sleep well at all with the replay of Plou held up in the air.
Syrie I think we can wrap it soon!

"Definitely amazing." Nevermind the rest, they'd be amazing on film, so many contrasting colours and shapes! He did address the 'wake up smelling like liniment' comment as well, with a low chuckle. "Wouldn't be the first time I woke up that way, won't be the last." But then it was dark and they were all settling down; Nadia had the Tribble to cuddle and there was plenty of space in the bed for Lorne to start out without a curly-haired blond snugged against him - Nadia could have fit easily, if not for her burns. But that wouldn't really happen, because the moment Lorne was between the sheets, Colin was going to gravitate towards his warmth. It had been a while since he'd shared a bed and with the horrible news and the shape his friends were in...well, he was a bit in need of physical contact. Falling asleep would take a while, but eventually the blond would reach that state. And then the nightmares would come knocking, softened only by the knowledge that he wasn't alone and two people he cared for dearly were with him. Pixie Nyxie agreed, wrap with hana's tag? or ???

Lorne blushed and laughed, but otherwise, what was he going to say? His fingertips grazed Nadia's hair as he left her for the night and went to join Colin in the bed. In the darkness, as Colin cuddled into him, his cheeks continued to burn... although he wasn't uncomfortable with the contact, either (especially after tonight), and after his friend had fallen asleep, he began to relax and ease into him.
Between this - feeling Colin's warmth next to him, and hearing Nadia's slow, steadying breathing from across the room - after a long time of staring at the ceiling in silence, contemplating everything from Plou's corruption to his own potential madness and what it might mean for him in this future, he finally drifted off to sleep.
Blissfully, for the first time in months, his sleep was dreamless.
