Dylon shook his head. "No, they're fine raw. I'm just used to eating them pickled." He said plainly despite the hearty laughter of his red headed companion. "Or on a sub. Or a pizza." At least she hadn't mistook it for a ghost pepper. If he'd taken a bite out of that he'd be dead. The kick of it was helping. A little bit. That and sitting up. He still felt off. Still felt distant and empty. But maybe just a tiny bit more motivated. "Did you find the movie?"

"Pickled. Next time I'll get it right." Harley promised, holding her pinkie out to him. "But I won't subject a poor, defenceless pizza to these banana peppers!" She made a face, being very animated about it because she could. As for the movie, she nodded excitedly.
"Hell yeah I did! But first, here, you probably need this first though." She dug around, and produced a bottle of water for him, and a juice box for herself. Then she pulled out two small bags of chips - one bbq, the other one all dressed - and handed the former to him. Or rather, she started to, but stopped abruptly. "When was the last time you ate?"

He reluctantly held her pinky with his own, finding interacting to be a lot of work. "They're usually sliced, not whole." He offered helpfully, despite the lack of energy in his voice. Again, he took the water with some effort, holding the bottle but not doing much with it. Her question, at first, was met with silence. As if he needed to think about it. "Um... yesterday. At breakfast... No.. I had a bite of a strawberry at 2am this morning as well."

Hattie stared at him as he admitted to how little he had eaten. She turned away from him abruptly, and grabbed something from the bag. Something that was then pressed into his hands: it was a meal replacement bar. "Here, at least choke down a couple bites? Please?"

Dylon sighed, slowly opening the bar. The look, the smell, put him off. Eating.. he felt like it would make him sick. But for Hattie, he tried. A small, pitiful bite.

"Yeeeah you! I'm so proud!" She clapped for him, cheering his accomplishment of at least trying. "One more bite of that and we can eat chips and watch cartoons!" She insisted, then left him to his meal bar as she focused on opening up and setting up the laptop and the movie.

Hattie deserved a medal. Eight medals, for working so hard for him. She was a true friend. A wonderful friend. Even if he felt as if the dark void his heart was in might suffocate him, he could still feel a great gratitude for her efforts. He took one more bite, a little larger than before. It tok time to finish it, fighting back the need to spit it back out. It wasn't even bad. It tasted fine. Somehow anything more than a bite of that pepper seemed like an impossible chore. But he did it. He held onto the bar for now, his goal to at least try and finish it later. He did, at least, open his water and take a small swig. Okay.. he was starting to feel a little bit better. A little more awake. It was now that his stomach was actually starting to feel hungry. So he took a third bite of the bar. "I don't think I've seen Space Jam since I was... fourteen or so." He said lightly, attempting to hold conversation.

Despite setting up, Hattie continued to glance at him to make sure that he was at least trying. One of the last thing she wanted was for him to spit it out, and tuck it away. He needed to eat, and she was glad to see him try to force it down.
"…You know, I think I saw it on TV when I was little." Hattie hummed thoughtfully. "I know I've seen it, but I don't remember when, yanno? It's kinda like an experience more than a memory." With a small chuckle, she leaned back, the DVD menu screen for Space Jam showing proudly.
"Lights on or off, handsome?"

"It's one of those movies almost everyone has seen. Probably." The third bite was finally chewed and swallowed. He gave himself time before trying again.
"On is fine." Off meant she'd have to get up again. Besides, he'd finally adjusted his eyes to the light now.

"On it is!" She pulled a couple of small bags of chips from her backpack before putting it on the ground beside the bed. She placed the BBQ ones near Dylon's leg, and put the other - all dressed - on her lap. She pressed the play button and moved the mouse to hide the cursor. Then she looked up at him, hopefully. "Can we cuddle a bit? Would you be okay with that?"

"Sure." He obliged, opening an arm for her to crawl into, his gaze falling to her face. He wasn't sure if he wanted to or not. He'd try anyway, because feeling this way while she was around hurt too much.

Dylon opened his arm for her, and the hopeful hesitation in her expression fled entirely, replaced by excitement. She scooched over to him, nestling against him and under the offered arm, curling up close and personal. "You let me know when you wanna stop, okay?" The movie was playing in front of them as Hattie gave him a way out, and a small kiss on the cheek for reassurance. "I won't take it personally."

"It's okay." He said quietly, his gaze on the screen. His head leaned down on top of hers after the affectionate kiss had been placed on his cheek. "I think I'll be fine." "Thanks, Hattie."

"You're welcome, Dylon." She smiled, and settled in for the movie.
Which was as ridiculous as she remembered it to be.
"I want to play basketball against aliens." She said rather seriously, as the credits rolled.

"Maybe ask the weapon golems really nicely." He said with some of his usual mirth regained and renewed.
