Kari grimaced as Wya began making her way up the beanstalk despite her injury. Cesar looked like he was about to say something in protest, but a hand on his shoulder stalled him.
"Even if you say she shouldn't go, it looks like she's determined to fight no matter what." His face fell, knowing the ghoul was probably right. The woman had said it plainly, after all, that she would fight. He just didn't like what it meant for the two of them.
One by one, everyone in the group voiced their desire to help Wya. Elden's words about a lack of plan made Kari pause in her answer.
"Well, we'll just have to come up with a strategy on the way there and hope it meshes with everyone's fighting style." Cesar choked at the implication of Kari's words, which was only solidified as she walked towards the beanstalk and began her attempts to climb despite the heels she wore hindering her progress. A shoddy plan was better than no plan at all.
"Kari, I implore you to reconsider," Cesar pleaded, grabbing one of Kari's shoes and making her pause,
"This situation does not bode well for any of you. Even more so due to the lack of plan. I do not feel comfortable with you placing yourself in such danger." Kari was touched that the frog boil was worried for her safety, but she could only shake her head in blunt refusal.
"I came to this school to become stronger and smarter... to gain confidence in myself and my abilities. If I'm too afraid of being hurt to help now, then I'll always end up balking when the need arises. I don't want to regret not doing anything." She paused for a moment in thought before continuing,
"I'm not going to force you to come with me, but I'm going. I want to do what I can to help." Having said her piece, Kari continued up the stalk without prodding Cesar for his decision. It wasn't long in coming, however.
"My lady is such a stubborn one," he sighed as his expression hardened,
"As if I could leave you to face perils such as a giant on your own. Such a concept would be a gentleman's disgrace." Kari smiled as he set to climbing the beanstalk right behind her, making the ghoul belatedly glad she'd decided to wear black tights under her dress despite his attempts not to look directly up.
"So," Kari called out to Wya as her foot probed for a safe foothold,
"Do you already have a battle plan in mind? I doubt a full frontal assault would be successful."Rikku Takanashi
