"I'm only a wee teenage boy." And he bared his teeth and beckoned her to hit him again.

The white of his teeth shone like a beacon. She smashed her fist against them once, twice, a third time and no signs of stopping.

"Is this what you let him do to you?" She cooed between attacks. "No wonder he's kept you."

He careened backwards, unable to even take a swing at her as she smashed into him again and again. His knees hit a table and it fell, taking with it a lamp (not The lamp, of course, life was never so ironic). It broke with a resounding crash.

{horace this is not the training field, you need to go!}

Jannisari never yelled, so he listened, scrambling backwards, feet slipping and crunching on unidentified garbage - the wreckage of her home. He started cursing as the doctor let him know exactly how low his shield was. Straggling up, he fell into the wall. This America was stronger than before, somehow, or maybe she was just crueler. Either way, he didn't think she would stop.

Perhaps it was providence that he was in the area. Easier to begin searching in the neighborhoods that had already constructed homes than attempting to scavenge the dilapidated remains that the construction crew may or may not have already touched upon. Either way, it was imperative that he move out; it wasn't as if the dorms had been proven to be safer than the town anyway, and the space was quickly becoming a necessity.

So it was that as Jack scanned at a promising home ahead, one earbud in blasting Pink Floyd, a sudden crashing noise stopped him. Hitting pause, he turned his head in the direction of the noise with a slight frown. Demolition, maybe? Or were the shadows getting particularly aggressive? He could always use some targets to slice up.

But he saw neither as he followed the noise. Rather, Jack recognized the sounds of battle--and he would know, given his job and his personal proclivities--and he debated simply backing away to avoid involving himself in even more s**t. But Owain being Owain, it was now impossible to play pretend. And after all, why was all that racket happening in a house?

(America's house, he remembered, having made note of it after he and Peyton began their town brawls. Mostly to try and position their spats further away from safety or notice.)

Mentally preparing a lecture about initiating spars outside of the buffer zone, Jack approached. "Housekeeping!" he drawled as he took advantage of the unlocked door.

He was greeted by the sight of America, in her panties and lightly sprayed with blood, advancing on Horace with a pleased smile. At the disruption she paused and turned her back to the younger hunter to assess the new arrival.

"Are you here to throw him out for me?" She asked, curious. "I can do it myself, but I'd like to take my bath now."

"You started this, you b***h." But it was said more sadly than anything else. Grimacing, he spat blood onto the floor. He looked up at Jack and frowned, wobbling his way to fully standing. Was America just going to let him go? The murderous intent had melted off her like a cheap chocolate coating on a sunny day.

"Hello Jack," he said cautiously, watching America and not Jack, waiting for some weird pounce or something. His hands clenched into fists.

"Nokoni." He glanced between them, the blood, the damage, what was and wasn't there, remembering, calculating something. (Paranoia was becoming his fast friend.)

"I can take him," Jack said eventually, not moving past the scuffed doormat. Gesturing Horace over, he waited until the injured trainee was within reach before asking her more abruptly, "Who are you?"

She paused and then squinted at him, before answering slowly, "Merica Jones...are you like, one of Jack's clones or something? I heard they brought one of you back from the desert but not that they were letting 'em run around loose." America shook her head, "This place is going all to handbaskets, clones and zombies and folks running around slapping people."

Hands on hips she gave Horace an exasperated sigh, "You come into my house and start a thing again, I'll finish it real fast." She flapped her hand at him, "Done with you so shoo. Git on now." Moving toward the stairs she threw over her shoulder, "I'll tell him you might need some TLC once he's done."

Obediently, he moved towards Jack, awake that as of right now, this was the best option. Jannisari was buzzing with a thousand wild theories of blood and humors and he shut her out. Even if this Jack was a clone, Horace thought, at least it wasn't currently beating the snot out of him. That garnered Jack some points.

His teeth clenched at America's flippant dismissal. And, at her last parting shot, he growled and lunged.

Jack quirked a brow at the pointless insinuation but decided silence was best until they were far away. In that silence, he was quick to grasp Horace's arm and rip him back, tossing him a sharp look before pulling the guy outside. Silver linings in dragging a near-corpse at least.

"So you are as masochistic as people say," he said once they left the neighborhood, his grip still strong as a precaution. "Just my luck. Not a clone," he added. "They don't come kicking and screaming into the world with green hair, that would just be unnatural."

He checked his urge to turn and snarl at Jack, instead letting himself be pulled outside. "That wasn't about masochism or anything like that. As if I'd pick her for that." His face twisted. Things were going to happen; everything was slowly unraveling at the seams and he didn't think he could fix it, didn't think he could accept everything, after all. He was going to fail because he wasn't strong enough. He looked up at Jack, miserableness clearly written across his face. Then carefully, he blanked it.

"You'd think clones would dye their hair, though, if they were smart," he said dully. "Doesn't matter, though - you haven't tried to kill me yet, so that's a plus." Horace knew he should say 'thank you', but he just felt so tired of everything. At least this was better than the last time he got pulled out of something. He leaned over to spit blood on the ground.

"Even if they did, wouldn't matter much." He pushed back some of his hair, better revealing the large scar stretching from his cheek to his neck, courtesy of one Barry.

Jack glanced back to make sure no-one was following them before letting Horace go. "Normally I wouldn't give a rat's a** about other people's domestic disputes, but something tells me this one's special," he said with an expectant look. "Unless you're that s**t at fighting?"

He looked at Jack's scar, barely registering it. Clones were blank slates of their counterparts - he remember showing Jan and Melvin scars in the Sahara. When Jack let him go, he ungracefully stumbled.

"No, I'm not usually that awful. Of course, she has experience on me - though I thought we'd be more even, since she never summons when fighting another hunter. s**t." He huffed out a breath in what was supposed to be a laugh, but didn't quite make it. "I barely scratched her, too, even though I got in some alright hits - I dunno. I don't think she wanted to stop. So, thanks." He gave Jack a weak thumbs up.
