The language too familiar drew her attention, the honey eyes stared at the people entered and then blinked at the one asking. "Are you Uncle Mark's brother?" Then finally receiving his question, she shook her head. "I don't know, I got tossed - I mean carried and when I woke up, I found myself tied on this chair. Who are you?"

"Yep," the guy, who was helping himself to the steamed fish on the table, turned back to Shu. He waved his chopsticks at her. "Definitely the negotiator. I want you to tell your boss that all our finances are well managed. The Beijing operation went smoothly, which is more than I can say about your current daily affairs." Wry smile.
A couple of other Hunters had joined him, though they weren't so much in the talking mood as they were in eating and just helping themselves to food that would have never graced the main island's table.
"So I'm thinking," he finally said, after his second bowl of rice, "the expansion shouldn't take longer than three months. After that we'll consider being part of recruiting." He suddenly swapped languages, speaking in Mandarin again. "<How good is your Mandarin?>"

She blinked at the hunters, which wore hunter coats came in for the food. No one seemed to pay attention to the poor girl tied on the chair. Shu heard their words and remembered, but at that moment, her mind was all on what's going on. It was a torment when dishes of delicacies were in front of you and you were tied up while everyone was eating. Why does she deserve such a punishment, Sir? She cried inside her mind, blaming the Death Assistant for all of that. She'd thought about picking lock at the office and took one of his precious figurines as hostage or use her hammer to fling inside the room. She was that full of grievances when she stared at slices of Peking duck, the fried rice with a lovely golden color or roasted pig. Why no one untie herrrrrrrrr? < You're drooling.> Z teased in great satisfaction. < My Mandarin is fluent. No one tells you pointing someone with chopstick is impolite. Am I in Beijing now? Can you untie me or I'm sorry I have no choice but to break this chair with my weapon. Are we having a branch in Beijing? I wasn't told to take the post of 'negotiator', but I am Chinese.> She shot lines in Mandarin like a machine gun, fast but clear. She was asking for tasks related to the infection or legacy thus she was pretty much perplexed by the intention of the Death leader. She thought about it and decided to get the answer from the one holding a second bowl of rice. < Boss? You mean our division leader, Caelius?> Then, she nodded at the ropes still tying her. She wasn't happy to talk like that, like someone invited her to a banquet and then said she wasn't invited and told her to stand aside. Zoobey Can she summon the weapon here?

"Yes, boss as in the loose term of boss," he shook his head, amused, "the main branch never changes. A bunch of inbreds and shallow minded bigots. 白痴. Rabid Dogs. The reason why we tie all negotiators up is the last time we had a negotiator, they tried to do a more sort of ah, American type of aggressive negotiation. 老外. They think they own this place."
He leaned back on his seat. "I'll let you go soon enough and I'll give you the full tour even, but first, a few questions. You are on our territory, so it would only be fair that we ask the questions first. Who would you consider yourself loyal to?"

"First, I don't know what's meant by American style of negotiation. Second, you can't say all of them are like that, at least I can affirm my friends are not like that." The eyes rolled quickly. "And me too. I agree that mis-communication can create problems though." His question however baffled the huntress, it was too vague to give a right answer. Shu had no idea if it's a test to her or they just wanted to know. She contemplated for the most suitable reply and only spoke again a while later. "I'm loyal to the the organization, my job as a hunter and my conscience 良心. How about you?" She asked back, no longer struggled with the ropes knowing they meant no harm to her. It was a question she didn't expected to be asked of, she was loyal to those she loved but she couldn't tell the difference between like and love. The petite Asian could only aver she loved her siblings and used to love her parents. For the others, she could not tell. Zoobey I don't know what you expected her to answer, but here we go XD

"And what if I told you," he began, slowing his conversation pace to emphasize each word, "that your job and your conscience are two entirely different things? Seeing that we are all Hunters here, is your loyalty to our organization, or only your organization?"
He gazed evenly at Shu without breaking eye contact, gauging carefully.

"I don't understand what you mean." Shu honestly stated. "Our? Your? Aren't we in the same organization? What's the difference?" She was the type of person asking questions whenever she didn't understand. Her eyes looked back at the hunter, straight into his eyes. There was no dodging or fear, just simple innocence.

"It's simple really." He took two plates from the table, each plate had a different type of dumpling. "The main branch, that's the island as they call it, is this plate. Our branch in Beijing is this plate. If you take one off this plate, and put it in the other plate-" he did so deftly with his chopsticks, removing one from the 'main branch', what do you get? Technically, they are still both on plates."

She finally understood his words, she smiled. "You know we've a saying of 親疏有別. Because we're humans, we take priorities in doing anything." She explained further, "Yes, both plates are plates, but consider the time this dumpling spent with the first plate, the weighting will be different. I thank you the organization to offer me a second home, but it's not about the organization, but the people of it that I care." "What's the Beijing branch....what are you thinking?" She needed to know the reason they wanted to drag her to their sides. Though young in appearance, she was after all an adult who can perform critical thinking.

"I am thinking," he said slowly, putting down the plates, "there is a very talented, smart young woman in front of me who is putting her true skills to waste. I would like to offer you a position at the Beiijing branch, you can consider it part time if you want. 半工. As acting negotiator. We will put you on salary, and you will get all the branch benefits. I believe that is what your boss intended of you, so you will get the loyalty from your plate and the added knowledge of learning from ours."

Shu's face beamed with delights with the compliments. Hear that Z? I'm talented and smart! < Just flattering you over for his goal, silly, you're "unbelievably" gullible.> Yet, the hunter already left a favourable impression for the petite huntress. "Thank you. It's my pleasure to be offered such a wonderful position. Before I gladly take it, I'd like to ask a question." She returned with a smile. "Regardless of all the benefits I would get, I dislike to owe someone favour. So what would you take from me in exchange if I do accept the offer. What I can do or useful for the branch?"

Their somewhat sincere smile turned into one of pleasantries. "Everyone is hardworking here, we make sure everyone is well trained. No - what is the term you use- slackers, no loafers, no free handouts. We have not completed interviews quiet yet. Your last challenge is to figure out how to untie yourself, as it is my firm belief that all Hunters should be able to at least ah, handle themselves. Your equipment to do so will be anything you can reach. If you succeed within the hour, you will find me in the commons room, and begin orientation. If you succeed before the hour, you are free to help yourself to food. Wasting it would be a disgrace after such hard work placed into it."
He muttered a few words to another Hunter next to him, and both of them left through the main doors.Meegane Shu and the chopsticks! Shu must use the chopsticks to free herself from her predicament (They are the only thing on the table other than food). The exit is simply the open door in front of her! - Roll 1d6 to see how much time she took to do so. You will have to be creative yourself as to figure out how to use chopsticks to untie rope. If Shu rolls a 1 at any point, she has escaped. If she has not, keep on rolling. Every dice roll you make is the minutes it has taken. For example: rolling 3, 4, 5, 1 means you have 14 minutes you have spent on this exercise!

So she was still in the interview, fair enough. Shu nodded and watched them all ran out the door, she was alone again but she suspected there might be hidden camera over somewhere. The petite huntress first turned her wrist to see how much spaces she was given, and quite surprised to find it could move quite smoothly. Then she pulled her arm up as close to herself as she can and bent down, her mouth could bite on the rope ends. It was not too bad for a situation.

She stared at the chopsticks, it seemed to be the only thing her mouth can reach for. She was wearing long sleeved clothes that day, so the second thing she did after she moved around was to pull the sleeves out of the rope loop to give her some spaces to untie the rope.
Time spent (minutes): 6+6=12
