Reconsideration
"s**t." Finn swore, and then a moment later.
"Fuuuuuck.
At that exact point, his dorms bathroom began to flood with water.
"SON OF A b***h! Ripley, come hold this ******** the ******** it is, thing."

idiots at work
The warmth in Finn's tone, as slight as it was, was enough. It was as cherished as the smiles he gave. It spoke volumes.
"Sounds like a plan to me." Ripley raised his water bottle as if to toast, and then took a long, much needed drink.

reconsideration"On it." Ripley was already on the move, the moment Finn actually yelled. He had dropped the last of his drywalling to do so, rushing in to the already puddling water in the bathroom. He was quick to get on his knees on the floor, reaching out to grab the very thing Finn needed him to, in an attempt to stop the gush of water.

reconsiderationThe water was up to Finn's ankles by the time he managed to stifle the flow of the leaking pipe, and he moved to let Ripley hold the thing, wet feet slapping against the tile floor as he moved to another area of the wall that had been cut out just for this occasion, sticking his hand inside to turn the valve that would shut off the flow of water to his bathroom. <********." He repeated. "Did you know that moon's are supposed to be good at this repair s**t? How did they even figure at any point that this was a good division for me?" He pulled his hand out and glanced back over towards Ripley "Okay, I think you can let it go now." The moment he let it go, Finn bent down and slapped a handful of water at Ripley's face in an attempt to make him believe, if only very briefly, that the pipe was still gushing water. At least one person in the room thought that this was funny.

reconsideration"You make a good meat shield." Ripley said, in way of consolation. It meant that he probably deserved what was coming next, which was the well-timed fake out. He let go, the water hit him in the face, and he sputtered in surprise with an awkward gawk, followed immediately by a blind grab for the pipe that he had been holding only seconds earlier.
A few moments later, he still looked a little bewildered.

reconsideration"I shouldn't even be surprised that you would think that way. I've always just been meat to you~" It was said with a smirk, of course, but a bark of laughter soon followed when he could see that Ripley was actually confused by the totally mysterious spray of water. It was oddly adorable, a thought that Finn quickly shoved away in favour of what he said next. "You're kind of an idiot, sometimes." ...Would have explained a few things at least, like what he was doing with Finn, of all people.

reconsiderationRipley said nothing as he recovered from the confusion. The cold against his hands was different than before, and Finn was laughing - something wasn't right. The more he was certain of this fact, the more he began to frown. When he felt brave enough, he slowly let go.
He discovered very quickly that he had been lied to.
"Shut up." He grumbled unhappily, returning the favour by smacking the water at Finn now.

reconsiderationFinn snorted out another laugh the moment he saw realization dawn on Ripley's features. Still stooped down as he was, it was really quite easy for the death intermediate to retaliate, as water splashed up into Finn's face, which made him splutter a little, and then laugh more, this time a bit more darkly, as he reached up to wipe water out of his eye. "Awwwwww did I hurt your feelings?" He asked, with his usual smirk, in a mock, baby talk like tone. "Would a kiss make you feel all better?"

reconsideration"No," Ripley responded with probably too much conviction. "I don't have any to hurt." He insisted, his persistent frown still in place. Smacking the water at Finn had been rather satisfying, but as they were now even, he resisted the urge to do it a second time. Neither of them were above war, and the battleground was a little too watery for his liking. Besides, the longer they waited, the more likely mould became.
"Unlikely." He mused to the offer of a kiss, pausing for a moment before adding: "But you're welcome to try."

reconsiderationHe continued to smirk at Ripley's response, letting out another small laugh, giving his head a small shake. How could he argue with that? Reaching out, he was close enough to catch the other mans hand in his, and as he rose back up to his feet, he seemed determined to pull Ripley up with him, tugging him in close. "Which am I welcome to try? The kissing, or the making you feel better?" He asked, wondering if Ripley would actually deny him of the former.

reconsiderationRipley resisted, at least a little, and only in the initial pull. He had allowed Finn to take his hand, but he had stayed stubbornly put for a few seconds as the man stood, even if it meant his hand raising without him. Then, with a sigh, he shifted his weight and stood, practically leaning into the other man as he was tugged in close. His free hand, without anything much to do, simply settled on Finn's hip, doing nothing more than creating a fairly wet mark on his shirt.
"Technically both? The kiss, as an attempt to make me feel better." He clarified for him, and helpfully so.

reconsideration"Ah." He nodded, as if in complete understanding, leaning in so that his nose brushed against Ripley's. "So you're plan is, essentially, to be an incredibly difficult idiot, instead of just a regular one." But he hadn't said no to the kiss, exactly, so Finn went for it anyways, his free hand going up between the other mans shoulder blades.

reconsiderations"More or less." He acknowledged, a grin sliding onto his lips just before Finn leaned in. Despite all his earlier protests he returned the kiss, leaning into it to momentarily deepen it. Then he leaned away, smirking. "You expected anything less?"

reconsiderationThe initial press of lips against Ripley's was hesitant only because he wasn't sure if the other man was going to allow it, but when Ripley did not immediately pull away or protest, he was only too happy to deepen the kiss, especially with the other man's encouragement. When the death intermediate then leaned away just enough to speak, Finn's hand rose further still, sliding through white hair and resting on the back of his head, a return smirk on his lips. "Of course not. It's one of the many not at all charming things about you that I've grown to enjoy." He pressed his luck then for another kiss, this one perhaps a bit more heated, if not at least more lingering, and Finn slowly pulled away with a shallow breath, his eyes half lidded, looking down, and then up into Ripley's. There were words on the tip of his tongue, something he wanted to say, something that, after all of this time, actually felt right, even if it scared him, even if it scared Ripley. He was still holding Ripley's hand in his, and his fingers slid between the other mans, giving them a light squeeze as he forced the words out before they could continue to haunt him. "Okay, not just enjoy." A small pause. "I love you, Ripley." enoh lovex woops did I do the thing >_> (I am assuming this is pre-dream because timey wimey who cares rite)

reconsiderationThere was always something rather comforting about the somewhat possessive way Finn's hand cradled the back of his head. It was a strangely comfortable way to share some surprisingly quiet words, and as common as moments like these were between them, each one was appreciated. He wouldn't change them for the world.
"Good. Because I'm not changing." He promised, though more threatened, before he leaned in to return the kiss he knew was coming. He let it linger, his fingers curling to grip the fabric at Finn's side, and slowly opened his eyes as it ended. Almost immediately, he felt…strange. There was something in the way Finn's gaze moved that made him pause. The way the other man's fingers eased their way between his. There had been no sarcasm, no lewd comments or blatant suggestions, just a torn look, as if there were something that needed to be said. Ripley had been about to ask what was wrong, when Finn began to speak.
I love you, Ripley.
He froze at those words. There had been no beating around the bush, no attempt to play it off, no explanations given. Just a simple, straightforward confession. It should have surprised him…but it didn't, somehow. He also realized, very suddenly, that the thought didn't scare him as much as he expected it to. It was still scary of course. Nothing would ever change that, but it wasn't enough to make him leave. He didn't blurt out 'Why?' like he might otherwise have. He didn't leave, or make any movement to suggest he was going to. He was scared, but not enough to run.
It had only been a moment or two before he spoke - or tried to anyway. His mouth did open briefly, but it closed almost immediately. As unsurprising as it was, it was also strangely sudden - even if that was't true, either. Those four words had become an inevitability to him, but he still panicked.
Without knowing what else to do, Ripley freed his own hands so he could grasp the sides of Finn's neck, then pull him closer for a deep, desperate kiss.
