Last to Know
The brown-haired trainee grinned wryly, "Bitter tasting meds is how you know they're good for you. 'Sides, if they tasted good you'd want to keep eating more of them and then that's no good!" She nodded sagely then burst into laughter, "We'd run outta medicines for one thing! That was totally what happened with me and the chewable vitamins when I was a kid. My mom got so mad that I was eating them like candy."
Then she caught sight of Shu's puppy eyes and, well, Joy already thought Shu was the most adorable hunter on the island. "You fight dirty, Shu," she murmured but fondly. "I'll see if we got any half-decent cakes but I can't promise that it's not just going to be Mess Hall stuff."
The Moon trainee was gonna have to see if she could pull in some owed favors for all the damn kitchen duty she'd taken over. Unless she made some herself! But, Joy reasoned she wasn't too confident with cakes. The only dessert she remotely knew how to make was "What about flan? I might have time to make you some leche flan, it's my mom's recipe so it's good. And sweet."

Last to Know"I know what you mean but it's almost a week. My tongue's gonna only feel bitter after this." She pouted but smiled at another thing. "Chewable vitamins sound good. I won't eat medicine like candies even if they tasted sweet." Shu huffed. She then grinned big, "As long as I can get what I want, I don't mind to fight dirty!" Her honey-colored eyes blinked at Joy at the mention of Flan. "What's that? I'm fine with any dessert-like." In other words, as long as it's sweet in taste, she didn't mind, even a pudding cup can cheer the petite huntress up.

"It can be included only if that hunter remembers what happened back then though. Besides..." Nellie patted the frog plush again, picking it up and holding it close as she peered at Shu. "... isn't it odd to go up to someone to tell that person that Nellie was hurt because of that virus?" It was obvious that she wasn't terribly keen to pursue that course of action if the other hunter had no recollection of what he did to her. Nobody liked hearing bad things about themselves anyway.
"That reaction was unlike that of the other infected who went after each other and other people. They never targeted themselves." Stretching her hands out, she attempted to transfer the frog plush back to Shu's lap, her eyes fixated on the Death huntress' face the entire time. "Is everything really okie, Shu?"

Licking Our WoundsNellie was right, but what she concerned was another thing. "......I know it can be strange, but have you consider they might remember it and they were searching for you because they were worried about how badly they hurt you?" Shu asked, honestly telling the huntress what was in her little mind. The petite Asian reacted with innocent confused blinks, "I don't know how others are like, but I'm like - my personality is like I'd rather hurt myself than hurting someone...." It almost felt embarrassed to say so, like boasting about herself. "So it maybe the reason, when it was my subconsciousness left when I was infected. It is scary to hear that, but I'm also glad I didn't hurt someone else. Nellie, I hurt my friend before and I felt so sad about it, maybe my soul was telling me - stopping me from hurting someone else." It felt breathless to talk about it again, even Noemi already forgave her. She clutched the fabric above her heart, finding it ache inside.

"Nellie hasn't." The Mist admitted with a small smile. "But Nellie knows that that isn't going to happen because it is that person and because it's Nellie." Nellie knew that she would probably get yelled at by that hunter if their paths ever crossed. It was really for the best that she didn't actively try to seek him out no matter what.
She couldn't help the frown that crossed her face at Shu's next words though, letting the Death huntress finish before leaning in to wrap her arms around her in a hug. "Shu is being too kind yet selfish at the same time by doing that." She pointed out. "If anything untoward happens to Shu, Shu's friends will grieve over it. Shu should not have to take on everything alone. Shu has friends whom Shu can trust and count on when bad things happen. Shu should have faith in Shu's friends."
She really wasn't one to talk given that she was Nellie and most people on Deus didn't want anything to do with her given her oddities. But she felt that that was necessary and the words were already out of her mouth before she knew it. Even if Shu did not regard her as her friend, surely the Death Intermediate had many others around her who could easily fill that role.

Licking Our WoundsShe didn't listen to her, Shu thought. For a moment, thinking she wasn't trust-worthy for her suggestion. "If you say so," she smiled. And then, Nellie was frowning and hugged her. The petite girl enjoyed the warmth hugged back but didn't miss the frown. She tensed up with the word "selfish" spoken. She knew Nellie was saying that for kindness but it hurt. < Who does this ghoul think she is? Condescending around while you're the older one? Jack!> Z was angry about another tried to lecture Shu stuff in a way too uncomfortable, he could feel the emotions and laden guilt his partner having. Sometimes, being kind without knowing anything can be like poison. "I'm selfish...." She didn't put the following in her mind as the word echoed, as if she was musing about what Nellie had said. You deserve nothing. It hurt, her heart hurt, her soul hurt. She was ugly, she was selfish. She did everything wrong, even she just didn't want to hurt ******** off brat! Just leave, you're not helping at all!> The creature howled angrily.

Feeling the way in which Shu had tensed up because of what she said, Nellie pulled back a little to look the other huntress over. "Selfless by intentionally putting Shu in harm's way to avoid hurting others." She reached for Shu's hands, clasping them in hers and giving them a small squeeze as she tried to put what she had just said across in a different way. "Selfish because Shu's friends will be sad over what happened to Shu as a result of that."
It wasn't her intent to hurt the Death huntress when all she wanted to do was to get her to realise that what she was doing was not in her best interests and would instead hurt those who care deeply for her. Maybe she should have thought better and held her own tongue instead given the way that her words seemed to have been misinterpreted entirely by the other girl.

Licking Our Wounds"Either way, someone would be hurt. If I hurt someone, their friends would be sad. If I hurt myself, my friend won't be sad if they don't know that. Of course I don't want them to be sad, but it would be the best way if only I am hurt." Her mind wasn't moved, she was a stubborn girl with her beliefs. "Nellie, if you were me, what would you do? What's the best way to do it, please tell me." She had no answer besides that one, she stared at another huntress, hoping for a better solution she might learn.

"But that isn't the best way to go about it. Shu's friends will find out some day what Shu has been keeping from them." Nellie implored, her grip on Shu's tightening just a little before she released the other huntress' hands to gently pat them a few times. "Friends should not hide anything from one another."
She gazed deeply into Shu's eyes as she spoke, believing wholeheartedly in the words that she now spoke as well as the ones that soon followed. "Nellie will look for another way. One that will not hurt anyone, or at least redirect the hurt towards the enemy that lurks in the shadows."

Licking Our Wounds"They would have the least chance to find out if I wished to hide." Shu said adamantly. Noticing how naive Nellie was, she sighed in tiredness. "Have you ever heard of the 'white lie'? I agree friends shouldn't hide from each other, but sometimes hiding would help oneself and prevent hurting friend. For instance, if your friend is ugly and she cares about her appearance a lot. When she asked if she's pretty, would you hide the truth from her or tell her the truth that you know would hurt her? The world doesn't only consist of black and white, Nellie." Nevertheless her young outlook, one shouldn't doubt her maturity. Shu was perplexed, the huntress didn't answer her question at all. "That's....too superficial, Nellie. There was not a way that no one would be hurt at that situation, your mind was being meddled with, do you understand? Also, if I could see the enemy, I would. Yet, I didn't at that moment. I just picked the method with least damage."
