"Don't push it. It's been a while. I could do that." He teased, feeling lighter and in generally a much better attitude now that he had all that pent up tension released.
He gathered his things from the hamper and looked over at him. "Do you want us to stop off at your place to get your own laundry?" He wasn't sure how Jan felt touching another person's dirty laundry. Melvin wasn't exactly sure he wanted Jan to touch it.
He lifted up the basket and headed to the door.

"Sounds like a challenge to me pardner." Lawrence said in that playfully awful accent as he did up the last button on his shirt and made his way to the door.
"Certainly." he said. "That would be very helpful." It was strange not to be doing Chantelle's laundry any longer, the thought that the woman was somehow a separate entity he had no control over continued to upset his mental equilibrium and routine.
"It will be nice to have someone to work alongside."

He walked out, glad for the assistance. "I like when I have company too." He liked when he and Rin could fold laundry side by side, but even doing it alone gave him time to think - and it usually made him sink a little lower in spirits these days. Just thinking never did him any wonders.
"So...um.........could you hear me when you were in the pods?" He asked, following Jan over to his room, basket in his arm.

"Sometimes." Jan said, leading the way along the corridor to his room. "Not always, sometimes I was somewhere else, it was strange, the dreams that came in that place. I appreciated the visits nevertheless when I was present. It was so awful to be cooped up there. I hope never to go through it again."
Fishing out his keys, he unlocked the door and entered, it was still a bit of a mess inside but evidently in the process of being cleaned up. He retrieved a neat laundry basket and carried it out into the hallway, set it down to lock up again and then picked it up once his keys were stowed.
"Was there anything you said that I might have missed?"

He looked on ahead, giving a flicker of a smile. "Uh, nothing much really. It was ...all pretty silly stuff." He ran his thumb along the lip of the basket as he used his back to open the door to head down to the laundry room.
"Just...general things. Questions. Why were you there? How could they do it to you. Why wasn't I there to help you." He mumbled near the end as he walked down the steps. "....that I missed you."
He looked over at Jan. "Do you need help with your basket? You can put it on mine if you want." He didn't want to strain Jan's one good arm.

"It was unfortunate that I could not reply to you at the time, but I certainly can now." the other man said with a fond sort of smile. "I was there because of the obvious problems with Horace and America and because the good doctor seems to have a certain interest in pods and their applications. They did it because they could and you weren't there because sometimes, one is simply not present at the right place at the right time." Giving Melvin a side glance he added. "I do not blame ya for a second for not being there at the time. I'm fine now, that's all that matters."
Carefully navigating the stairs, he seemed to consider taking advantage of the offered help. "I'll pass." he said. "For now at least, we are almost there."
