Chantelle shook her head. "Not meeee." she sung. "I can't summon my weapon so I shouldn't like, really be going diving. I was sent with the equipment." She didn't like getting wet, or danger, so it really suited her just fine. "I can like, stick around though, keep an eye on things, notify people if you like, both don't come back because you get eaten."

This was a little negative though so she added. "I'm glad you are ok though Horace!"

"You can't summon?!" Melvin said, alarmed. If the boat was attacked, who would be there to protect her. "You - you need to contact us somehow if you get attacked. We'll be underwater and not be able to see or hear you?"

He started to rifle through his bag, pulling out rooe and runic stines before he handed her a flare gun, "Shoot that if it gets bad." Great. Now he was worried for both of them.

He turned to Hirace, flashing a weak smile. Things felt odd after his own promotion with the man. "Seems you need the help. Here. I checked the equipment. I hope I brought the right size."

In what time they had, he helped Horace get his equipment on and how to read the oxygen tank and adjust everything before they pushed the boat out. Horace showed the way and after a last minute check, Melvin reminded Chantelle again. "Please be safe."

He then dove off the side of the boat and went under.

"Eaten?" Horace made a face. "You're a ball of sunshine, aren't you? But thanks, guys. I kinda thought they'd say 'go home', but... well, here we are." He shrugged. Chantelle would made a good anchor person in the boat, though she might get bored. Shifting in the boat (Horace tried to make only small movements; he was afraid of tipped the boat over somehow), he pulled a beat-up up paperback from his back pocket.

He tossed it over near Chantelle. Icarus at The Edge of Time. "In case you get bored waiting for us, maybe? I appreciate you stickin' around, though." He grinned and began to suit up with Melvin's help. It felt a littel weird to hang out with Melvin - they hadn't had a chance to talk about things since that time in the Sahara, and it hung in his mind. He listened attentatively to Melvin's lesson, wishing everything was written down. He felt clumsy, awkward in the equipment, but finally, they were ready. .

And, with a cheeky wave to Chantelle, he dove.

Down to the wreck!
The wreck is surprisingly intact, it seems. It lays innocuously on the seabed, but as you get closer, everything seems a little darker. Inside the wreck, only the smallest beams of light filter through.

-1-10: You think you see something out of the corner of your eye, but it vanishes.
-11-20: A dark shadow swims in front of your goggles, blocking your view. Consequentially, you bumble into a jagged bit of metal. (-5hp)
-21-29: You try a door, but it's locked or rusted shut. It doesn't move.
-30-35: Something creaks ominously in the wreck and a wooden beam clocks you in the shoulder. (-5 hp)
-36-54: Something seems to grab your ankle, yanking you downwards violently. When you look, there's nothing there.
-55-64: The headlight on your mask flickers and goes out. In the darkness a ghostly face appears in front of you. It releases a shrill scream before your light abruptly turns back on and the face vanishes.
-65-74: A whisper echoes in your ear only, telling you to leave or else.
-75-79: You hear a shuddering groan and a piece of sharp wood shoots past as if propelled by an unknown, powerful force. It narrowly misses you.
-80-100: Fight!

This wasn't the same diving he was used to back on the island. He grew to know what territories he went to, and while the monsters down were unexpected, the mermaids and tangling seaweed were at least something he could look out for due to his constant encounters with them.

Instead, he wasn't even sure what was here, but being an extra pair of eyes and an extra oxygen tank for Horace was at least something.

He couldn't exactly make out the wreckage with any degree of clarity and it only grew darker and darker the more he went down. Every few minutes, he would look up to make sure the sun wasn't setting unusually early, but he could make out the faintest rays from the surface, seeming to be impossibly far away and distant.

As he neared the wreck, he could barely see, and panicked a moment when he couldn't spot Horace. The headlamp on his gear was dim and he moved closer to where he last saw the Death member.

Melvin saw something shoot at him and he jerked in time for a board to fly past him and nearly hit his helmet. It was too strong and too fast to be naturally floating up and he looked around in the dark to find the source. He saw nothing but darkness.

"Horace? Where are you?" He moved to where he last saw the man swim.

It had gotten progressively, unnaturally dark the further they swam down. Horace frowned around his scuba mouthpiece (not an easy feat), and tried to look for anything suspicious or glowing or ghostly. Melvin's voice came crackling over the suit radio and he jerked his head upwards.

"Yeah, I'm on your left, why you find s- ack!" Something yanked on his foot, but Horace knew even before he looked that he'd see nothing. It was exactly like it was the night he'd gone swimming. Kicking off, he swam closer to Melvin. "There's definitely something here, Melvin."

.........leave.

It was quick and he jerked around, bubbles exploding around him as he exhaled quickly before he saw nothing was there.

......or else.

He moved till he could touch Hirace's arm and releases it, just wanting to be able to keep track to where he was.

"Yeah and it sounds like it wants us dead. IT's too damn dark. I can't see a thing? Know where to go?"

Melvin's voice crackled over the inter-suit radios. "You alright? I don't doubt that they don't want us here, but... I dunno, look for anything suspicious." He swam a little ways away from Melvin, trying not to accidentally clock him. Wrapping both hands around the wheel of a door, he yanked, only to find nothing happened. It was locked.

"Try to find the captain's room. MAybe something's there."

"Right." He said, moving to the ship's turned hull. The metal was gray and discolorered. It felt unnatural to see such a large, artificial object in the ocean. Even mode that this object was meant to be above water.

He passed by the railing and curved structures of the deck before he turned, following his small circle of light to see a door. He tested it and felt it give way. "Found a door."

You open a door. Beyond it lays the remains of the captain's cabin; one half of it is torn open, exposing it to sea outside. You turn to go back deeper into the wreck, only to find your way blocked by ghostly figures.

The ghosts from last night appear again, although they seem to be fewer in number than before.

Horace only barely heard the click of the door behind them. The room was half cut away, open to the blue sea outside. It was still dark, too dark, and he grumbled. How the ******** were they supposed to find anything if they couldn't see? He turned back to scan the room near the door.

"s**t, Melvin, we've got company!" They were like the ghosts he'd seen before - a little bluer, perhaps, but that could be blamed on the water and lighting. Gritting his teeth he summoned Jannisari just as they swarmed en masse, ghostly limbs stretching out to grab, twist. He flailed out wildly.

The dark was stronger than that of the caves below the island at Deus, and so we're the imposing ghosts who floated as blue, waving reflexions of the once-alive. Still, he had spent months diving for runic stones in dangerous areas full of mermaids, moving caves, and bus-size squids. He wasn't too flustered to fight under water and brought Saliva up. At least as a pistol, Saliva didn't require throwing her against the pressure of the water all around them.

"Got it! Do you see anything else?" He wasn't sire what else Horace was looking for down here.

Lining his shot, he fired into the mass of ghosts.

He swung and missed, envying Melvin's obvious fluidity in water. "I guess just looking to take out the threat - see if that works." The truth was he hadn't known what he was looking for, just been told to investigate. He hissed as a ghost knocked him back into the wall.

"s**t! Can you take me diving after this?" He swam around to the other side of Melvin. "I obviously need to brush up."

"It's a LOT of diving to get this way, and I used to swim." He called back over the call link as he dove back, swimming for some distance as he adjusted his flashlight. After a moment, he aimed again, right dead center again of the cluster of ghosts closest to Horace.

"Keep your distance or else you'll get swarmed and dragged into them." He warned, and fired into the cluster.

"HAH! Right in the face!"
