Deciding that she would end the day on a good note, Paradigm steeled herself to brave the Tidepools
one last time. She stepped closer and peered into the water, hoping she would see something to cheer
          her after her last look.

Paradigm was fully grown, but still a young mare. She was not alone either. A stallion was by her side,
smiling at her with warmth in his eyes. The pair looked completely happy and Paradigm was delighted
to have found someone that loved her. Finally! She had love. Companionship. Someone she could trust.
So when he bid her farewell for the day, Paradigm was sad to see him go. But it wasn't forever, she
would see him again the next day. They were nearly inseparable now and their love was so strong. But
she bid him farewell for the night and the two went in opposite directions.

A short while later, Paradigm had to change course as something blocked her path and she found
herself taking a new way home. She picked her way amongst trees until she came upon a clearing.
At first there was nothing out of the ordinary in this clearing, until she saw the stallion. He was
nuzzling another young mare and the two were obviously very, very close. What really stung her,
though, was the sight of a small foal at the mare's side. A small gasp of dismay escaped Paradigm
and she turned to bolt away. When she finally stopped beneath the branches of a willow tree, she
no longer felt much of anything. She felt... empty. Devoid of happiness, hope, or even anger.

To be honest, Paradigm could not recall that stallion's name, probably because of a subconscious
desire to pretend he had never existed. The memory stung and left her feeling more lonely than
ever. So much for her happy memories.

My name: Talya
My faction: Nightmare
Small IC description of character: A sense of nervousness nibbled upon the mare's mind, her stance shifting from hoof to hoof. Despite this, the sensation of excitement also enthralled her, capturing her willingly as she embarked upon a new step and journey upon this chapter of her life.

Talya didn't know what caused her to wander towards the Tidepools once more as it felt as if someone was tugging upon her heart and soul. Her previous experience had been filled with painful memories, and now as she moved carefully between the pools, she wondered what they had in store for her today. Soon, her question would be answered as the young mare finally peered down into the pool, it reflecting the memory before her.
She was young colt again and still experiencing the world. The others romped and played through the field and in truth she felt left out. Yes, it was perhaps her own fault as she disliked the sensation of the grass whiping at her sides, but she so yearned to play with them as well.

"Hi." A voice caused the colt to turn around to find another colt behind her; a young male who's name now she couldn't remember. They talked and played for hours and despite she had no desire to be in the open fields, he never voiced any teasing words at her. In fact, he seemed to understand. The day had been one of her favorites, long and filled with fun memories. She had finally found a friend and they intended to play until the sun left the sky or their parents insisted that they return home!

Pulling herself away from the memory, Talya couldn't help but chuckle softly as she lingered upon it. It was so long ago and yet she felt as if it could have happened yesterday. "It has been to long since we've talked old friend.." Sighing, she looked around to find another pool.

Talya moved once more through the pools, searching for a new one that would tease her with another memory. Why she felt she needed to look through these magical portals once more was beyond her, but she felt that perhaps the memories needed to be revisisted, that they needed to be seen once more for some unknown reason. Peering into the nearest one beside her, she watched with childlike interest.
It was late in the evening and she was already into the world of being an adult. Tired, she had wandered to her current home where she laid down in exhaution. The day had been horrible, one of the worse she had experienced in awhile. The memory of her parent's death still lingered faintly on her mind and she wasn't sure if she could handle another night of nightmares. Laying upon her side, she sighed as she looked up to the sky.

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the Sky.
Now the darkness gathers,
Stars began to peep,
Birds and beast and flowers
Soon will be asleep..."

The Poem continued on, one her father had told her many times when she had a bad dream growing up. Tonight, Talya felt the need and the desire to hear the poem once more. When she got to the end, she repeated it once more only to do so another time when she finished. How many times she had repeated the poem, she wasn't sure, but she had fallen asleep somewhere amongst the calm words. That night, she didn't have a nightmare.

The final tidepool that she wished to visit wasn't to far from her, it seeming to tug her closer with a sense of want and longing. Stepping careful not to disrupt anyone else and their memories, she soon came upon the slightly shallow pool before peering deep within it.

There it was. Just ahead was the strange looking well and something that she had been searching for for over an hour. A friend had convienced her to do so, claiming that the well was magical and thus would grant wishes. Now, the mare stood with her chest near the edge of the well, peering down into a empty darkness. Did it work? Did it grant wishes?

Part of her hoped so as the price for a wish was expensive...or so her friend had informed her. In order to get a wish, you had to give something of importance to the well. Slowly, Talya dropped a seashell into the water, it landing with a heavy 'plop' near the bottom. Something that most would consider common and ordinary was anything but. This was a shell she had found when she was a colt, the first one she had ever collected.

"I wish I wasn't alone.." The once prideful creature had ensure that nobody had been around when her words were spoken, not willing to admit that she had been feeling a sense of loneliness over the past few months. Her friends were far and few and of course, like most, she wanted to find another to share her life with.

Never in the past had she put much into wishes, but perhaps today would be different. Maybe, just maybe, things would change.

The memory caused Talya to blink in confusion. It wasn't that old...maybe a few weeks at best. Frowning slightly, though feeling the memory heavy upon her, she turned to leave in search of something else to distract her from the Tide pools.
