"The whole bottle?" She looked at him with raised eyebrows. It had been a new bottle. Nearly everything had been bought just for this. Sherry sighed. If a bottle of pepper was loose in that stew, well, she didn't know how to save it.
But when he seemed to fluster she had to smile (and cough a little). He looked so upset Sherry just couldn't bring herself to be anything remotely angry, to Armagnac's disgust. Sad, yes, but angry? No.
"Oh, Jake." She stepped towards him, flinching slightly at the sound of water on her floor. The room had seen worse in it's time, but not since it had been hers.
Reaching out for Jake's hand she said, "Just help me clean up the worst of it. And let me sleep at your place tonight. I don't want to deal with a wet floor first thing in the morning."
She sighed. "And remind me about this if I ask you to cook again."
