"I could use one," said Gale agreeably, pushing more debris into heaps and wiping his forehead with the back of his hand, grateful that he'd already tied his hair back.
"Just think of the end result," he said. "And the painting part, that's the fun part."

Otto tossed the can at his smaller friend, fully expecting him to catch it. "Painting walls is fun?" He wasn't sure, but Gale was pretty much an expert on home reno by now. Probably.

Gale did catch it, only after a bit of fumbling and almost dropping it. He popped the lid open and took a swallow.
"Well, I find it somewhat cathartic," he answered. "It can get tedious, I suppose, but once you're done, there's something very satisfying about looking at it all."

"Guess you painted enough walls in your day, huh?" He smirked behind the can of coke. Yes, it was a dig at his experience in house repair.

Gale flipped Otto the bird because he was just that mature.
"Yes, I am very aware of how to paint a wall and keep it looking nice," he said, with as much dignity as he could muster.

"Guess I don't gotta worry bout that yet, anyway. I still gotta clean all this s**t up." He eyed his mess with a wear gaze. All in the name of fresh starts, he reminded himself.
