"I am sure they'll lead to something. I just need to figure that part out." He mused, smiling when she took his hand. "Do you mind if I take some books from the library to the lighthouse tonight?"
He stopped in their walk, playful grin on his lips now. Yes, he was still mulling over what she'd said. Yes, her words bit into him worse than a rabid dog, and yes he'd be thinking about all these things later when he was home alone and she was dissecting minipets or doing more demonic research. But for now, in the present, Lex was incredibly glad to be with Ami. "Thank you, for earlier. I love you."

Ami pursed her lips, thinking thoughtfully. "You'll be sure to return them by dawn." That seemed fair. That was totally a fair thing to request.
She coughed lightly at his admittance, and she put a hand up to her face. You could nearly see the mental reboot she'd had to do, her steps sputtering every so slightly before regaining their natural poise. "I love you too dear," she said quietly, crossing her arms and looking away because this is awkward it's in public people could be watching what if-.

Lex couldn't help himself from smiling an almost predatory smile as he leaned down and planted a kiss right on her lips, knowing full well how embarrassed she was by the action. And that he'd risk getting clawed, socked, or ignored for the next week.
