Thorn peeked at her face. "Why do you smile?" He asked curiously, maybe he could make that smile come to her at some point in the future. He blinked, oh yes he was in big, big trouble, if he didn't know better he would think he caught something, is that what his father meant about the one? Was there a little voice in his head saying not to let this one get away? Not that he could hear anything over the roar in his ears.
He waved for more drink, and sipped it while he listened making sure that Ime was offered more too. Maybe he wouldn't go home tonight, he would stay by the Inn make sure she was safe. Not that too many knew him as what he was around here but with this one he couldn't be too careful, she was so wonderful and innocent he didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Oh, it's nothing," she said, touching her own lips. She was smiling, look at that. "I was remembering the first time I helped. A friend was with-child and my mother took me for the experience." Most men did not like hearing about birth, and that was fine. She just wouldn't go into detail.
She accepted the offer of a drink, sipped to try and help her dry mouth, and still smiled. "Aside from that, a lot of things. Life is good, for the most part. Helping others, making them smile. Attractive men." She giggled at herself, at how bold she had been. It was true, at least! "How about you? Why do you smile?" It had been a total three-sixty from the question he was actually asking, but hey, she'd be curious to know.

"Thats kind of adorable...have you seen them often? How old are their children now?" He was kinda curious as to whom she would have as friends. He was well, just so interested. "Me? Well I um... I'm smiling because you were smiling" It was lame and he knew it but it was the truth darn it. And he didn't want to lie to her. "I um, I hope you will be passing through here again when you return home?" Dare to dream. He felt something shift in him and watched his hand slink out to hold itself open on the table, an inviting trap, with perhaps more meaning then she thought. A dangerous smile.

"Unfortunately they live in Jauhar, but during the war we saw each other often. I babysat for them, but they're getting big. It's them I'm going to see now." She nodded and beamed up at him, feeling so very warm for his choice of words even if it was silly and shallow. No boy had ever treated her this way, and while it was just a bit anxiety-inducing it was exciting and pleasant and new.
His hand, though, caused a shy, sweet sort of reaction in the girl. She clasped her hands together by her chest and sucked in her lips, her smile artificially stretching. Her cheeks and ears were burning as she wrung her hands. Yes, she would be back through, but might that be it? Did it matter? Right here, right now, she felt good and happy and she wasn't going to let logic ruin in. After a few long moments of hesitation, she gently put out her hand and laid it in his.
"Yes. I'd very much like to see you again." Her belly and chest were tingling wildly and she couldn't help a nervous little giggle that bubbled past her lips.

The innkeeper came out of the kitchen took one look and walked right back in.
Thorn couldn't believe that she had placed her tiny perfect hand in his. He felt like his chest was going to pop under all the pressure his emotions were putting on it. He gently laced his fingers through hers careful not to hold too tight, he didn't want to make her feel trapped. This was a journey they both had to take and he had no experience.
"I well I have never done this before but it is exciting is it not?" Her hand was warmish but still cooler then him of course he was pretty sure he now had a fever. "I'll be here when you return. If you need me, my parents and I live outside the city to the South, straight south. "If you can't find me in town I will be there."

Ime had no experience either. She had never held a man's hand, not except when she was a child being led somewhere or another. This was new and different and so very, very exciting. The girl felt like she might pop herself, and she gave a soft huff of air when his fingers laced with hers. He was big, he was intimidating, but like so many others his appearance did not speak for his soul. She slid her other hand up his wrist and folded it on top of his. He was so warm, and solid, and real and there--
"Yes," she agreed with a little nod. She had no expectation between them. It was the safest way to go about this, but logic was well out the window now anyway. He was so sweet... "I will look for you." Her voice was soft and shy, but held a deep tone that spoke to her sincerity. "I've never done this either. I mean, I've never--" She grinned and shook her head. "Any of this."

"Well then, we are on the same page then. My parents seemed to have things figured out, I just haven't figured how she puts up with him." He smiled.
As they talked a brawl broke out, out of the corner of his eye Thorn saw something large flying through the air, he had just enough time to jump in front of Ime so that the person who had been tossed around hit him instead of her. He grunted from the pain in his side but it worked his weight kept him grounded and prevented the other from smushing Ime. Thorn gracefully crumpled himself while he squawked "Innkeep!"
His friend marched out of the kitchen and scooped both disturbers right out. He apologized profusely while Thorn tried to crawl back on his chair. "Are you okay Ime?"
Thorn waved his friend off, "Weren't your fault mate."
He peered down at his side, "Did I pop it open?"

Ime smiled up at him, peering into those deep green eyes. What in the world was coming over her? She liked it, whatever it was.
Her gaze did shift when the brawl broke out, though, and she removed her hands from Thorn's in shock. She had never been around a bar brawl, at least not this closely! She saw something fly toward them as well and ducked, throwing her arms up over her head, and yet nothing made contact. She peeked up to see Thorn fall and immediately moved to his side. Well, anything could happen, she supposed!
"I'm fine, I'm fine!" she reassured him. Had he just taken a hit for her? They were strangers! Strangers with a connection, but still! Her heart warmed and she pushed one of his arms up to get a better look at his wound. "No, no, you're fine. Ouh..." She'd bet it hurt, though. "I could give it another go, if you'd like. Just to be sure it won't start bleeding?"

"Naw if you say its alright, I'll be fine." He smiled, grateful she seemed concerned. Not even his mother had made such a show, of course with her the worst he had gotten was a scraped knee. So there was a difference. He prodded gently at his side, it was cranky but as she had said it wasn't bleeding, whew. "Thank you for the offer though. At least those two got kicked out,I think the one who threw him was a woman, she must be a shield or somethin," he mused, "I hear they are quite powerful and work hard for it too, apparently enough to be able to toss people around."

Ime smiled and nodded. Alright! She would gladly have done it for free, but whatever he wanted was fine!
"There was a tournament... oh, it seems like forever ago. There were some very powerful women there, and not all of them shields." Ah, she had been so young! She had met Kelina there as a child, and look where it had brought them. "I'd believe it." She looked off in the direction of the door but the brawling group was clearly already gone. Her gaze returned to Thorn then and she smiled. She was struck with sudden shyness, blushing and glancing up at him. He had just protected her. She reached out for his hand again and held it only briefly, then returned to her seat. This was one heck of a lunch! It was real, too. It was actually happening. A boy had held her hand and they had made plans...
She beamed up at him and sighed contentedly. Life was pretty great, wasn't it?

He would gladly get thumped ten more times like that for that little touch, of her own violition this time. "I think my parents heard of that tournament, they went to the outskirts to peek at the action but they prefer a much quieter setting for the most part. "Mom was also quite pregnant and wanting to nest somewhere." He smirked. Dad snuck out to find her whatever she was craving at the time. To hear him tell it they were great quests for his woman's all important comfort. He's a story teller he can make a quiet morning sound like a great adventure." Thorn mimiced his father. "And then! I poured the tea~" Flourish, flourish done. Mom watched crosses her eyes..and drinks her tea." Thorn wondered if she was tired at all, he didn't want to risk her health after she had been so kind to his.

Ime smiled and nodded as she listened to him and laughed outright at his flourish and fatherly imitation. Pregnant women could be difficult to deal with for certain! She had respect for the family that cared for them, and Thorn's father sounded like a good man too. You never really knew without meeting, but it was a safe bet that the people who raised good kids were good people.
"Well, I'm sure it felt like it to him," she said with a nod and sipped her drink. Now where was their stew? A good meal would make this encounter absolutely perfect, but she wouldn't mind so much if it had been forgotten. Thorn was enough right now, and the way he made her feel was brilliant. She couldn't stop smiling.

The innkeeper bustled out with huge bowls of stew with freshly cooked bread. "My apologies on the wait, the bread was cooked fresh and took a while." He deposited everything down and fetched them some butter as well. Thorn politely waited for Ime to start before he started hoovering his up, he was so hungry..of course he was almost always hungry, but particularly now. They chatted some more before Thorn got up to leave. Ime moved toward him and he opened his arms as he figured that was what she wanted. She felt so right there, snugged up against him. He was on cloud nine. Fin ~
