Why the heck would they do that NOW!? Gaia has been aware of tektek since 2004 and they decide NOW to get rid of them!? WTF!?

I think they made a mistake doing this. They've known of the existence of tektek since 2004. Lanzer had even mentioned it at cons and found it to be alright in his opinion. I dont really know what their game is with this move. By I'm guessing it has to do with HQ.

This is my classic gaia gear. It's as close as I could get to my oldest dream avi with the paltry gold I have now.
My oldest dream avi from tektek contained real nightmare minis and a demonic pitchfork instead and of course didn't have the new recolours but otherwise it was pretty much this.
I dunno when I'll change from this. Tektek being gone is really distressing to me.
Also Pwn, your avi reminds me of a sim that just peed itself. XD

I said this in one of the SF threads. "Honestly I think the fact that people who love making avi's but can't keep up in the new Economy quite Gaia and decied to just tweek around with Tektek for free plays a small role. I know a few people who quite Gaia but still use tektek to make avis for fun. Gaia doesn't want their to be a free route to their "Amazing 50 shades of precocious recolors" But this is my opinion. Though I do agree Tekton's site may play a role in all of this." And this is all xD Pwnder guh! get in the food service industry and just watching people eat....and walk and dress.....and their faces and their hair and their body shapes will start to annoy you emotion_facepalm (15 years man! gonk ) They will walk in looking like they know exactly what they are doing, and they dont! They will walk in, looking like they don't know crap, and they know less!Yes I did hear this was worse. Honestly I just miss the days of beaing lazy and having nothing but time for Gaia and my books crying I really don't care for people.

Something has got to be in the works. I'm hoping that Gaia has plans to integrate Tekton's avatar functionality in the future. For TekTek to be open all these years, it had to have received some form of copyright use. Maybe the copyright use expired or they are rejecting it...
The first step would be a cease and desist letter of course, it should be expected so they can secure their intellectual property. We have no choice but to sit back watch what happens next. I just really hope its not a big F.U. confused

I just really hope its not a big F.U. confused According to Tekton he did have permissions to use Gaia's items but it wasn't like legally binding. It was more of a "Hey, can I put your items into this simulator to help users of your site?" "Yo sure, that's cool!" Situation.

Darius Runan I think they made a mistake doing this. They've known of the existence of tektek since 2004. Lanzer had even mentioned it at cons and found it to be alright in his opinion. I dont really know what their game is with this move. By I'm guessing it has to do with HQ. I agree, forcing Tektek to shut down was a HUGE mistake. Lots of other people found the site much easier to use and navigate when it came to item questing, profile making and dream avatar creating way more than Gaia itself at times. Especially when it came to hunting down specific items they couldn't find in the marketplace. Shame on Gaia for shutting Tektek down like that, it's just wrong! Tekton did at least give credit where credit was due on the home page when the site was still running.

the most i ever made on Gaia, back in the day, was about 20 million. That was when I could sell zOMG powerups in my vend. I'd spend it on my "collect one of everything on Gaia" quest. It was hard times trying to decide to if I wanted to spend 10k on an item or not confused
Now? I've hit 1 Trillion once, dumped it all into Flynns Plunder too cool
Gaia needs to make a ticket that allows a user to create a free mass grant item. Something that everyone on Gaia can have for free! Oh yeah emotion_awesome
What would you create and mass grant to the whole of Gaia? The devs get to do it, why couldn't we?

Also I posted this earlier in the wrong thread. Lo siento:
GAHHHH I'm so annoyed right now.
So I used to work for EA (the game company) Nothin' big, I was a gameadvisor, those people who call you back when you use their click-to-callback system and help with game issues. I did have a lot of contact with some of the devs and higher ups though because I'm a coder and I helped fix a couple of bugs with games I love since I had their blessing to do so.
Currently, Dragon Age: Inquisition is facing a serious shitstorm because people are asshats. Not to say that the game is perfect, it's not and I was a little disappointed by it as well but I still really like it and honestly it was a better release than a lot of games these days (see AC: Unity and Blizzard's newest fiasco with users not even being able to play a game they paid for.). There are small bugs but nothing game-breaking at least not for the majority of users.
Try to defend Bioware? You're a retarded fangirl and you should kill yourself. Try to explain logic to them? You're a retarded person and you should kill yourself.
Even in a thread complaining about hairstyles I encountered the stupid. "EA also makes the sims, how are the hairstyles so terrible in inquisition!??" Bioware and Maxis are both owned by EA, yes but they are completely separate entities. Everything down to the support is different. Gameadvisors for Maxis titles are different from those for Bioware titles even. They are the PUBLISHER not the DEVELOPER. It's like saying "This publisher published a really good book but they also published Twilight! Couldn't they have sent the good author to fix the mistakes with Twilight??"
"But they share resources!" No. They don't. At all. For any reason.
"But they share resources with DICE like the engine!" Yes, but that's DICE not Maxis. Different developers take different stances. They do NOT share resources with Maxis. Also, it wasn't a sharing of resources so much as EA funded the frostbite engine but let DICE have proprietary use of it first because they knew that BF was going to make them more money than any other title they could use it on. Shooters sell because any old dudebro can play a shooter. (Not that I don't like them but they do have a much wider audience than a rich story game like Inquisition.)
"Couldn't they have just sent a modeller over to work with hair?" Sent over where? They aren't in the same building, they aren't in the same TOWN even. EA main offices: Redwood, CA - Austin, TX Maxis main offices: Redwood, CA - Chicago Ill Bioware main offices: London, Edmonton Canada, Montreal Canada Some of them aren't even in the same country! And no, they couldn't because the Maxis devs know nothing about Bioware's internal systems whatsoever so they wouldn't have been any use anyway! '
And if I say this they scoff at me saying I can't possibly know that. I can't tell them "Yeah I can, I worked for EA!" because they'll assume I'm lying and I can't prove it to them with screenshots of the internal systems or info about when I worked there because that would be breaking NDA.
