No wonder he'd been out at his desk. How could you sleep with something like that on your shoulders?

She stopped for a second, crossing the room to pick up Owain's bracelet which she then very gingerly carried back to the bed. She didn't bother giving it back to Jack in case he wasn't ready for Owain anymore, but she did at least put him next to the bed. She just felt horrible seeing her true love friend on the ground like that.

When she went back, she sat on Jack's front side with only a slight noise of complaint instead of behind him. Both of them looked too tired, too worn and ages older than they should have been. Legs wrapped around his backside and Chel took a deep breath. "Can't they send someone else?"

He didn't move from his position other than rolling his head around, testing his limits with a wince. "Doesn't matter," he replied, eyes still closed. "If I can show I'm capable of handling them, though, the clones? Maybe it'll be easier." He didn't specify what he meant.

After running a hand through his hair, the sensation mildly alleviating the pain and the motion enough to clear his eyes of his bangs, Jack put his glasses back on and faced her. There was no indication he noticed the totem. "Listen. There are other clones out there," he explained in an undertone. "Some of them are mine. Seven," he added. "I don't like talking about it much, but you should probably know they exist."

"So good Halloween had t'make seven of ya," she murmured with an amused lilt to her voice. It wasn't that she didn't take the warning seriously, it was rather that she could barely handle one Jack, let alone seven.

She sat back thoughtfully, fingers lacing a lazy prison of his neck. Her thumbs made small circles, trying to work out even tiny kinks in his neck. Anything to help. "

Jack didn't share her good humor. "I don't know what he wants specifically with it," he replied, his face twitching as she worked his neck. "Killing them would be a huge waste, but luckily they're even more indestructible than I am. I've heard they will literally put themselves back together even if you cut them up."

Cloning was difficult enough with certain animals and thus far unsuccessful on regular human beings; the fact that there was something out there able to recreate hunters that well was both terrifying and intriguing—his favorite combination. The only unfortunate part was that they were being produced by the enemy, but if he could get his hands on one...

"I'll worry about it when I'm there, though," he went on dismissively. "You know how missions can go."

The information Jack was telling her was terrifying. Clones that could put themselves back together? It was a horrifying though having to picture seven indestructible Jacks and the concern showed on her face. "S'it gay to say I'm worried 'bout you?" Jack was hardly stable on a good day; having to go back to the sahara and deal with clones ...

She put one of her hands through his hair, combing neatly more out of distraction than organization. "We should come up with like- ooh like a ********' codeword. Somethin' so if we come across clones, we'll be able to tell what's what, y'know?"

"Extremely gay," Jack assured her in a deadpan. "You are mega gay, remember? You shoot a ******** arrow and it wouldn't go straight." He didn't want to see the concern he refused to show himself; mocking it made him feel pseudo safe.

Humming thoughtfully, he let his eyes fall closed. "What kind of code word?"

"Then I'm hella worried for you. ********' you are the number one thing on my mind now." She put her hands up to his cheeks, leaning in close. "I would even go as far to say my jimmies are ********' rustled."

She snorted and leaned back in laughter as Jack thought about a word. "Could be a word or a whole phrase. Just gotta be something you'd never ********' say. Like can't be based on memories or nothin' 'cause the clone would know that."

He opened one eye just to give her a small shove and say, "Disgusting."

But something he wouldn't say normally wasn't exactly narrowing it down. "'Finn is a nice guy.' 'AK doesn't make me want to strangle her at all.' 'Ian isn't annoying whatsoever.' 'Axten absolutely likes me.' ********, I don't know..."

Chel fell off balance with his shove, but quickly recovered in a very smooth grab of his knees. So graceful.

"Nah can't be based on people. 'Specially not ones you got attachments too. Could be something random too I guess. Like ... I ask how you feel and you say yer jimmies are rustled." She laughed at her own joke and attempted to push him down to the mattress in a slow, gentle fashion (so as to not upset his headache further). "Suppose I could just kiss all the clones n' figure it out that way. I got a good memory for mouths."

"I repeat: ******** disgusting. Of course the first thing you think when I say clones is how much action you'll get from them." His second shove was still in jest and aimed her at the open sprawl of the bed, but he had resisted being pushed into the mattress; Jack still wasn't in the mood for much, even if he wasn't immediately ready to punch Chel's lights out anymore. Much like a cat, he had been touched enough and now required his space.

"It's not supposed to be more than a day long thing," he added. "In case that was also rustling your jimmies. So there's that."

Chel put a kiss on his temple anyways, but at least complied by getting off of him. She spread herself out on his bed evenly, putting the pillow she'd brought underneath her head. "Can y'blame me? Look at yerself and tell me y'wouldn't want t'do seven of 'em."

She gave Jack a cheeky grin, but it faltered slightly when he brought up the mission. "Lot can happen in a day." She would have put her face into the pillow to hide her concern had her face not been coated in makeup. "Any way I can get on the mission or nah?"

He shook his head and rubbed his neck. "Not my division lead, not my call. I'll be fine." What that really meant, though, was I'll be prepared. Nobody was ever really fine. "Mind keeping the clone part not so public, though?" Jack asked as he pushed himself up.

"When I ever told your secrets, Doctor Dong?" She sighed happily and said, "Can you imagine how many jokes I could make on twitter. Do you?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 28, 2015 8:48 pm

"Dong Ming," he corrected her before turning a stern look on Chel. "Don't, though, alright? None of it. Or I'll start calling you Chelsea all the time." The jokes weren't what bothered him so much as the use of his birth name.

"'As why I'm sayin' you gotta trust me. I got a lot of dirt on you and I ain't ever gonna use it." Of that much Jack could be assured. "Isn't trust the base of all relationships or whatever?"

She snorted a laugh and combed a hand through her hair. It was actually down for once, not up in it's usual messy bun or ponytail. The result was that most of it was flopping down in her face anyways. "Any reason you use Jack? I mean other than the obvious."
