pandemonium: complete chaos.
Originated from John Milton's Paradise Lost. Pandemonium was Lucifer's city in Hell. So "pandemonium" is a coinage of John Milton. wink

This next one I'd heard of, but never knew what it exactly was until I watched Stephen King's mini series Kingdom Hospital.
lobotomy: an old practise where a physician would drill a hole in the left and right sides of your forehead into the frontal lobes of the brain. They used it to cure basically everything, mostly violence and pain as it removed that part of the brain completely.
...it's definetly something you wouldn't want to have done, though then again it isn't preformed today because well...I guess you can answer that one sweatdrop

It's surprising the amount of people who don't know the next one:
protagonist: the hero of a story. Opposite is the "antagonist" or "anti-hero".
...and no, there is not "gonist" stare . I'd say there was no "agonist" but the agonist is a muscle type that works against another muscle...as well as a drug mimicing chemical! xD

Morticia Morgue Xenophobia: A fear or hatred of strangers and the unknown in general wink heart
Okay, another longer word:
anthropomorphic: giving human-like qualities to inhuman things.
For example, dieties, mythology etc.
