Zoraida smiled shyly and found herself looking down which when he started talking again, felt like she should make eye contact. She looked up at him, a slight blush still on her face, and admired how he was always reassuring her in the short time they had been talking. What a great outlook on life! He seemed to have a positive attitude which was something Zora appreciated. So he hadn't trained the raptrix, but he had. It was interesting. "That's amazing! Does it ever make you wonder what happened to his previous owner? If he had one. And if he didn't, if he was wild, why he didn't attack you? Well, even if you didn't train him initially, still teaching him things is training." Zora said happily. Even if Nyiim wasn't the first one to train him, obviously he had done a good job with what he had done with the Raptrix because he was so well behaved and, well, still with the leaf man. Zora looked down at Bosede again, who was still sitting there nicely. It made her wonder what else was out there. With the new lands discovered, who knew what other creatures were out there. It made her feel...small, in a way, but she didn't let it bother her. Sighing, she went to lean back and went too far and found herself off balance. Luckily she had grabbed onto the tree and sat there clinging to it as she begged her heart to stop it's racing. "Maybe you should teach me how to get down now." A few short laughs accompanied her statement, but if one looked into her eyes, they would be able to tell she was afraid of falling again.

"I wonder all the time. We never ran across any bodies, though. I always said I would go back and look again, but I still haven't. Maybe I should." He reasoned, gaze drifting off a moment before it zeroed in on Zoraida again. "I'd never really considered he'd be wild. When I found him he had a broken wing, but no wounds, and he listened to 'no' and 'wait.' Over time I discovered he knew even more. I don't think he could have been wild, but I'm not sure if he was abandoned or some kind of sole survivor."
The girl did not tip so much as it might have felt like, but any movement all the way up here could be terrifying. His hand shot out to grab her arm, just in case, but she clung to the tree and he only ended up gently grasping her bicep. Woops. He swallowed and retracted his hand.
"Sorry," he offered, and then peered down at the ground himself. "Well, to be honest, it's much, much easier with low-hanging branches. it may be safer if we just do what we did before and find something more user-friendly." She would almost undoubtedly lose control and fall on the way down as he had done it before, and he didn't know of any other way. "This isn't a beginning tree," he said, and them smiled to her slightly. She'd made it up twice and down once. She was a brave one, she had to be, or else incredibly unobservant.

That was so interesting! It made her wonder with him, or maybe for him, exactly how that had happened. "That is so interesting. Well, I hope that if he did have an owner you don't have to worry about him coming to try and take him from you!" That would not only be bad but it would also be sad! Zora just thought it was so interesting how Nyiim had come to have Bosede. It was more interesting than anything that had ever happened to her before! Well, except being saved and taught by a handsome leaf man. That thought brought her blush back. As did his comment at the end, but his smile made up for it. "I suppose it wasn't really the best tree to pick." Zora said somewhat sheepishly. So do what they had done before? "Okay so...do I need to hang again or is there a better way?" And hopefully she wouldn't fall on her own before he could help or face plant when she landed! It kind of made her wonder how he was still being so nice to her, considering how much of a fool she had made herself out to be.

The girl brought up a good point, one he hadn't considered himself.
"Well," he reasoned, "He's been with me for more than a year, so I imagine if someone was coming for him they'd have come by now, no?" He peered down at the raptrix again. "I should hope so, anyway." Even for his apparent lack of emotions, Nyiim would be devastated if his feathery companion was taken away.
He smiled again and they continued about the tree, though, and shrugged.
"We can do it that way, or you can try to shimmy down and I'll watch you, or you could hang on your own and drop the..." he looked back down. "Five or so feet to the ground, but unless you know how to land I wouldn't suggest it. Shin splints and all..."

Zoraida nodded happily along with Nyiim, she hoped he was correct too. She couldn't even imagine if she had an animal with her for a year and then a long lost owner came back to try and take them back she knew she wouldn't be very happy at all! Not only would she not be happy, but she'd likely also refuse to give up the animal. Well, that wasn't exactly it completely. She'd try to give the animal a chance to decide, that's what parents did with children anyway...right? "Hmmm. No dropping." She agreed as she pondered her options. She could either try to go down herself, and possibly fall. Or she could have him lower her down, but then there was still the little drop that she had humiliated herself at before. So was there really a 'safe' option? No, not really, Zora decided. So what was the lesser of two evils? She might as well try to get down on her own. She'd already made a plenty fool of herself so any more couldn't hurt. "Okay...so...I will try to go down myself. But don't laugh if I fall okay?" She said with a look that made it clear she was only joking. And with that, she inched her way slowly to the trunk, giving Nyiim a worried look. "Got any tips for me oh mighty climbing master?" She was in no way mocking him, but to her, he definitely was a climbing master.

He had never really considered what his course of action would be if Bosede's old owner returned. It would be near impossible to give the beast up, but wasn't that the polite thing to do? Was it 'I got here first' or 'finders keepers' when it came to pets? He wasn't quite sure, but then social convention often eluded him. There was no point in worrying now anyway. Bosede's old master was either disinterested by now or lying dead at the bottom of a pit full of spikes.
Nyiim nodded with her choice to not drop to the ground. He had thought of doing it himself just to get to the ground before Zoraida, but what would that teach her? Nothing. The Leaf man grinned when she spoke of him laughing (he would try very hard to not) and then stood and stepped over her hands, catching himself against the trunk of the tree.
"Watch me," he said, and then began picking his way down the trunk. The bark irritated his skin, and when he hit the jungle floor he looked down at the red welts and brushed away the stray bits of wood. He really should have put a shirt on. His attention turned back to his pupil quickly, though, and he called up to her. "Just hold on tight! If you feel like you're falling, don't worry, I'll catch you." As if to exemplify this fact, he thrust both arms into the air, and gestured for her to join him. "Come on down." She could potentially just hold on enough to slide down the trunk, but that meant some serious bark-burn and the potential of clothing flipping up over your head. A shimmy was probably a better option.

Zoraida nodded as she watched her mentor go down first. He did it with such an ease it made her wonder how long he had been climbing trees. Nyiim definitely knew what he was doing and Zora was glad that he had happened to be the one to find her. And rescue her of course. She was grateful, very grateful, for that. When he got to the ground, she noticed some red spots on him. Was it from the tree? A blush appeared as Zora realized she was staring and she quickly looked away. It was easy to stare at him, even it it was rude. She smiled when he held his arms out just in case he needed to catch her, it was very kind of him. "Alright. I'm coming down now!" Zoraida warned as she haphazardly flipped herself around to grasp the trunk. "Up. Down. Not side, side." She mumbled to herself rather loudly as she tried to keep Nyiim's teachings in mind. It was slow going and very awkward at first as she struggled to get timing down. Eventually though, as she was about half way down she realized if she moved her feet first, and locked them in place, it would be easier for her to move her arms. It made her go slower as she focused on not falling but she was doing it. "I'm not going to fall. I'm not going to fall." She began chanting. However, her limbs were getting tired and she still had a good fourth of the tree to go. With all her strength, she held onto the tree, clung really. "Nyiim...I don't think I can make it the rest of the way down." She said worriedly, too afraid to look at the ground. <3

"You're doing well!" he reassured her, chuckling when he caught her mantra on the wind. She was allowed to do whatever helped, of course, but that didn't make it any less adorable. He caught himself smiling as she moved nearer and nearer, but it was clear she was becoming fatigued. Her arms were trembling ever so slightly, she was lagging behind. Luckily she was not so far from the ground that the fall would hurt.
"That's alright, you're not too far up. Here. I'll catch you." It would mean touching her again, getting close. New friends didn't even get hugs and this girl was a complete stranger. After a few moments of hesitation he lifted his arms up and put his hands on her waist. Heat rushed to his face.
"Let go. I've got you." Nyiim's voice was softer, more gentle.

Her arms were beginning to shake and her muscles started to burn and Zora knew she didn't have much time to be able to hold on for longer. Sure she had done good so far but she just didn't have the strength to hold on. She would have to try to do some more activities that focused on strength instead of just staying upright. That was the main the she focused on anyway, but now she had something else to add to that list. There were a lot more things that needed to be on that list if she was honest with herself, but one thing (or two) at a time right? Her breath hitched as she became afraid of falling, it began to subside, but didn't completely abate when Nyiim told her he would catch her. She shouldn't ask that of him, he didn't seem particularly happy the last time. If she didn't have him catch her though, that would be a hard fall and likely to break something. "Okay..." His voice was more gentle than it had been so far so it made her feel a little bit better about it. "Okay, I'm going to let go now!" In a way that was typical of Zoraida, she crammed her eyes shut and let go.

Nyiim being such a large man made catching the girl rather simple. His arms weren't stretched so far above his head that they lacked strength, and so when Zoraida let go and fell he was able to support her weight and bring her down to her feet without any awkward contact, or at least any more awkward contact. He had hugged girls before, sure, but he'd never taken one by the waist. "There," he said, signaling that she was safe so he could let go and trust her to stand on her own. He stepped back and looked her over as she turned, soft blues and intricate markings against the deep, cool colors of the jungle. She was a pretty thing, and sweet.
"I think that's enough of a lesson for today, hm?" He found himself smiling ever so slightly. "Next time maybe we'll find a few with branches."

The gentle pressure of his hands when he caught her was such a great relief to her. Just to know that she wasn't going to fall all the way to the ground. Zora had gotten lucky, VERY lucky, and she knew it. With her feet firmly on the ground, through her legs a little shaky still, she let out what breath she had been holding and turned to him with a smile to be greeted with one from him. Nodding at him, she tried to keep the blush off her face. "Yes. Next time a beginner tree." Zora echoed with what he had said earlier. "Thank you so much Nyiim. You've taught me a lot already. I hope to see you and your raptrix again." Zora started walking away but then paused and looked at him before changing her mind. With a few quick steps, she was in front of him and her shaky arms were wrapped around his waist. "Thank you again." She said fondly and then took her leave.

It was an odd sort of circumstance. He knew very little about this girl and yet had held her twice in one way or another. What would this day have been if he hadn't heard her calling?
"It was my pleasure," Nyiim responded, smile growing. He felt an odd fondness for the young woman that he couldn't quite place, but it made him feel a bit warm. If it was pleasant, why question it?
"You will," he assured her, although no one could know for sure if they'd ever cross paths again. At least now he knew there was a settlement nearby. Perhaps he'd need some supplies on his return trip.
She seemed to be gone, but Zoraida rushed back and threw her arms around him. Nyiim's breath caught in his chest and his muscles went rigid. A hug! The tips of his ears grew hot and he was not given time to react before the girl left. Bosede always watched her go, and then turned to his master with tongue lolling, like he knew something.
"Don't look at me like that," the Leaf man said, and then plopped down at the base of the tree to recollect himself.
